'One Freeing Ride' by L e X
The car sped up the highway as thoughts pursued themselves inside his mind, in front of his eyes.
'Should be time now.'
The man only allowed himself to check the time every other mile. How could it pass so slowly... when his body was telling him he was riding way too fast for his own good? It was d. Hd. He could feel his body reacting to the excessive speed, however, if he looked out the window... e woe would be no way he would be able to tell just how fast he was going.
There was no one on the freeway. Not a single car could be seen driving by. This was lonelier then he could bear. Normally. But right ne'de'd do just anything to be away from the world. He was succeeding in doing so. Few were as good at that. He really had had no other choiPracPractice on tearing himself away from the world he lived in... wasn't exactly something he lacked.
It was funny just how happy he could have been... and yet... wasn't. Magic. Some sort of mocking magic surrounded him. Everything he did... was powered by that magic and... it was constantly keeping him from getting involved too deeply in anything that concerned somebody else. It'd be okay, if it really worked - 100%, that is. Normally it did work. Flight, okay. Hotel room, okay. Away from home, ooookay, just a little longer... Sound-check... okaaay... Concert... That's when the magic would fade. 'Stop it' - hips bouncing. 'Don't look' - ambiguous stares. 'No.' - unspoken offers, teasing touches. 'Why here of all places?' - untamed desires. Those eyes... damn those eyes. Showing him things he really needn't see, needn't know... "No," he uttered under his breath as he sped up just a bit more. The tires would soon start glidif hef he didn't stop accelerating.
The meet & greet should be starting. 'No more of that for me...' the blond man thought 'No more sacrificing my time... no more double-meaning phrases... no... I don't have to take it... not without a fight.' Damn those lips. They only seemed to utter deceptive, teasing, bizarre words... made to shock and mesmerize. 'Do you even care that sometimes you hurt people acting the way you do?' Of course not. But oh if he did something the little Diva didn't like... 'Bad Daniel! Little Diva boy has everyone's attention!' All he had to do was look with those eyes and purse his lips together in a pout and anything would be his. Anyone. Anytime. Anywhere. 'Oh no you don't! Not me! I've had enough, Darren...' Daniel hit the accelerator firmly 'Enough of your manipulating and commanding me.'
The cell phone. The composer didn't even bother looking down to check who was calling. He wasn't going to be bothered. Not now.
He felt calm. Hyper... but calm. A bit contradictory there, right? But that's how he felt. Calm because he wasn't going anywhere. Well... he was... but not where somebody else wanted him to go. The road was his guide... and it had never felt better tot let let it go... like it did then. Hyper. He couldn't explain it. Soing ing inside him was just too excited. Images of that body moving in front of him... the same gazes... the same insinuations... the same touches... That small place his magic couldn't touch... couldn't overcome. That's where all that agitation came from.
That's part of what made him just leave that day. "Here's my limit," he mumbled.
The phone again. 'Nope... not this time, Darren... I'm not gonna pick up. I'm not gonna let you talk meo feo feeling guilty and turning around... no. This is my limit.'
If he looked down, over to the passenger seat to his side, he'd be able to see Darren's number blinking in the cell phone screen. The Diva should be having one of his famous tantrums right about then. 'I don't even feel sorry for Leonie... or Sharon... they let him keep on with it. They're as guilty as he is, I'd say,' he mused, 'Do it without me... you know everything, right? Why would you need me for that? You'll be just fine by yourself... like you always are.'
Okay... this was working. He felt free already! 'No more manipulation, Darren... Not anymore... You can't just leave things in the middle... maybes don't work with me anymore... once you hint me into something... you've got to take the consequences... I won't take it anymore. I won't go down just because you think it's funny playing with my feelings... no... no more.' The blond man smiled mischievously.

". yo. you don't knock anymore?" Daniel smiled to himself, his back turned to the door, the most precious of his acoustic guitars in his lap, a present from a very close friend, his fingers caressing the still original strings, he'd never change them... no matter how bad they'd sound.
"Why? Why did you do this?" Darren's voice wasn't what one would call friendly. He was using his favourite aggravated, arrogant pitch skilfully, looking for the ideal effect.
"Close the door, will you?" the taller man asked, not the least bit intimidated, yet, not daring to sound teasing.
"No! First you're going to explain to me just what went through your head when you left me all alone to do that meet & greet! Making me look like a bloody idiot every time someone asked me where Daniel was... why he wasn't there... doing his job...!!"
"Darren, you can do your little show however you please. But first... close the door, okay mate?" The musician couldn't see the other man, but he knew he'd be red with anger, his fists clenched, ready to hit the roof. Some seconds later, Daniel heard the door closing behind him. It didn't bang, which surprised him. Darren could be a very noisy person when infuriated. But the fact that he hadn't blown up yet, was preoccupying. He was really mad. "Thank you, mate," the blond male spoke, holding the guitar by the neck and pulling it away, to his side, over the bed. Soon, he was facing a very angry Darren. "Explain," the shorter man seethed. "I needed some fresh air," Jones uttered, a simple smile bathing his lips. "Don't give me that...!" Darren was making a huge effort not to shout, the words coming out harsh, almost as if bitten. "Why didn't you... at LEAST, call me... I would understand if you just told me you didn't feel like doing it." "I'm sorry... just had to leave," the musician mumbled, hands scratching the denim covering his knees, his legs crossed. Why are you doing this? What's happening to you?" the shorter man questioned "Normally you would've just called... at least answered my calls! Where were you??" Daniel smiled at Darren's obvious worry, not only was he mad and probably disappointed, but also incredibly concerned. Those cinder- blues told him as much. "I... I'm fine, Daz." The man sitting on the hotel bed answered, heat made its presence known in his face. "No... you're not." The raven-haired man approached his band mate. Small steps, unrehearsed movements, real care in his face. The man quickly found a spot on the bed, facing his friend. "Dan..." "Sorry... I just really had to leave." "Okay... I understand..." Daniel had to look up stunned, one of his brows up in doubt "Yeah... I've noticed you've been a little different lately..." the blond looked down, embarrassed. "Look, Danny... if... if you need someone to talk to... I'm here. I don't care about the meet & greet... what you did wasn't very... professional... but if you really didn't feel up to it... then I understand. Really. I mean... something pretty wrong must be happening to you..." 'And you don't know the half of it... or do you...?' Daniel locked gazes with the beautiful singer and stared, 'You really have no idea what you're doing to me, do you?' "What?" Darren asked, starting to blush at his friend's intense staring. Daniel smiled shyly and lowered his eyes. "Are you sure... you want to know?" "Of course I do, Daniel! I'm your best fri..!..!" Darren sounded almost hurt. "Okay..." Daniel nodded, leaning to the other side of the bed and taking his precious guitar to his lap again. "What? Are you gonna sing it to me?" Darren's laughter filled the room. Daniel only smiled, shaking his head in amusement, positioning his fingers on the strings, letting out the first notes of a very familiar song. He couldn't quite remember which one it was... but his fingers seemed to have a will of their own now. "You know... I never told you this... but I hate that song." Darren giggled under his breath. Universe. "Well... do you remember... This guitar... do you remember who gave it to me?" Darren laughed softly and slapped his friend on the shoulder. "Of course I do dummy! I gave you this guitar." Daniel nodded, grinning, changing the tune. "Now that's much better..." Darren smiled, his hand finding Daniel's shoulder again, but this time staying there. Daniel was very aware of that move.
Darren's body drew closer and his body heat was perfectly perceptible by Dan's bare arm. "The moonlight... shines down interstellar beams... and the groove tonight is something more then you've ever seen..." Darren's silky voice sang the entrance to `Carry on Dancing', close to Daniel's ear, it still amazed the younger man, just how perfect his mate could sound, singing in such a low volume.
'If you get any closer... I'm gonna kiss you,' Daniel's thoughts and Darren's proximity were making him dizzy.
"You look happy..." Darren's soft voice murmured. "I feel happy." "I thought you didn't feel good today..." "I feel good now," Daniel mumbled, his eyes focused in the guitar. Darren didn't say much afterwards, he would sing from time to time, his silky voice both relaxing and exciting Daniel further. He had this way of confusing Daniel. And it again both delighted and scared him.
"Tell me what's been bothering you, Jonesy." Hayes' 'trust me' voice cut through the silent music Daniel was producing. This made Daniel's fingers stop for a moment. "Darren..." he spoke "I... I don't think I should. I thought I'd be brave enough to say it... but I guess I am not." It depressed him, how his voice had shaken. "Hey..." Darren moved his hand from Daniel's shoulder to his lower back, his trunk moving against said man's side, squeezing him none too gently, "I'm sure you are!" "I can't..." Daniel moaned softly, he did it... he moved closer... "Can't you do it in any other way? Maybe... sing it to me... or... hmn... write it?" "No... I'm... not as good at that as you are, Dare." Daniel's heart was beating a bit too quickly for his liking. "Hmn... is it something you can show me?" Darren asked, his breath so close to Daniel's neck it was hard to breathe "Cause you know... sometimes it's easier to just show it than putting it into..." Daniel moved quick, a swift touch of lips to lips, "…words." Darren no longer hugged him, too stunned to do anything else then staring at the blond man. 'Oh jesus... I did it... I finally did it...' Daniel sighed in a mix of relieved and twisted expression as he backed away from the singer. "Dan..." Darren whispered, completelynnednned, "What... what was... that?" Daniel laughed nervously, shaking his head, "What do think it was? A bloody kiss... that's what it was..." he groaned, closing his eyes. "I... I know what a kiss is..." Darren snorted, "I meant... what... what does it mean?" "Darren..." Daniel groaned, feeling incredibly uneasy. The older man was so surprised... this could only mean one thing... "Are you... do you... hmn... do... do you... like me... that way." D" Daniel just nodded, his eyes unable to leave the guitar. "Is this why... you've been feeling... uneasy lately?" "You're smart." Daniel laughed humourlessly. "Don't be like that..." Darren's voice sounded hurt, Daniel knew he shouldn't be joking around at a time like this... "It... it hurts when you do that… you know? Joke with my feelings... with serious situations." "I'm... sorry. But you do that a lot to me too..." "No I don't!" "Right... all those moves and invites and looks... You've been teasing me senseless... I'd be crazy not to react to that..." "I... I guess... I didn't know I was... hurting you." "You... weren't. I just..." Daniel rolled his eyes "You're my best friend... I shouldn't have done that..." Darren didn't let him finish. "No...! It's... can you kiss me again...?" Daniel chuckled silently, but he had to admit this was surprising him, he really thought Darren was gonna freak out. Darren was still staring at his unmoving form. "It was too fast... I didn't even know what you were doing before you ended it..." he explained, need clear in his voice. Daniel smiled tenderly, looking up to finally face his mate. "Okay, Darren," he whispered, longing in the beautiful blue eyes, eyes full of wonder and perhaps... love? Darren was smiling almost shyly, and Daniel had to smile even wider at that. "Come here..." Daniel whispered sensually, Darren's grin widened. The dark-haired man dragged himself across the bit that separated him from his new found lover, and soon, Daniel had closed their gap, wrapping his arms around his mate and meeting Darren's sensuous lips halfway. It was a soft, giving kiss. Darren pulled away first, but just enough so he could speak. "Promise you'll never leave me doing those meet & greets alone again..." his pink, swollen lips rubbed against Daniel's smaller but as soft ones. "Nope..." he grinned slyly, and quickly closed the gap between their lips again, slithering his tongue inside. Darren's hands moved up from Dan's lower back, up to get lost in his sweet smelling hair. Soon Darren broke the kiss again. "Then promise you won't pretend this didn't happen... ever!" Dan smiled, nodding. "Promised." He once again pulled Darren into a deep loving kiss, making the last one moan catlike. Darren parted their bruised lips again, only to receive an evil look from Daniel. "I just want to say that... this is too good... you're too good, Daniel..." "Darren…! Just shut up and kiss me will ya!?" Daniel smiled, sealing their lips together and rolling Darren on his back.
