Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know Orlando Bloom. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
I may be costing myself some readers by saying this but I’ll take that chance; NO SMUT … not yet anyway. I do plan to write a love scene eventually but it won’t be until a least Chapter 8. Although I enjoy readsomesome of the smutty stories on here I don’t enjoy writing them. I enjoy writing romantic, boy-meets-girl kind of stories. The kind of story that if the person whom I’m writing about ever reads I won’t be completely mortified! But thankfully for Orlando’s “technophobia” I shouldn’t have to worry about that happening! Any reviews, good or bad, are encouraged. If yove tve trouble reviewing through the site you can e-mail me at synxfan@yahoo.com.
One more thing from me before I shut up and let you get into the story; as with my other story if you’ve read it (“If she would’ve been faithful…”), the inspiration for this story also comes from a song; Clay Ais “Rs “Run to Me”. If you would like to read the lyrics you can do so at http://www.tophitsonline.com/lyrics.php?songid=2961. Enjoy!
CHAPTER 1
On a cool, June morning Jessica O’Malley slowly walks to her car after a long night of paperwork at the bar. After she climbs into the car, shuts the door, and starts the engine she lets out a big sigh of relief. She lays her head back on the headrest and thinks to herself, ‘Man. I really gotta get a life!’ She turns on the radio to her favorite morning talk show, The Bob and Tom Show. After the hour-long drive home she gets out of the car and drags herself in the house to take a shower.
“Hello! This is the Bob and Tom show! Good morning!” Tom Griswald says in his usual radio voice. “Now, normally Kristi would start doing the news right now but, we received a letter from a fan that I just have to read. Dear Bob and Tom, I am writing to you about my best friend, Jessica. Last summer Jessie’s fiancé, Jake, was killed by a drunk driver. For the passed year Jessie has thrown herself into her work. She is the sole owner of “Jake’s Bar & Grille”, a little bar & restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio that she & Jake were co-owners of before he was killed. None of us, myself or her family or friends, can get her to take a break. There is one thing that we agreed could possibly get her to take some time off just for her. In addition to being a big fan of your show she is also a big movie buff. …”
After her shower Jessica throws on some sweats and flops down on the couch. She grabs the remote off the coffee table and turns on the radio.
“So, Bob and Tom,” Tom continues, “I am writing this letter to ask you if you could invite Jessie to meet her favorite actor, Orlando Bloom, in your studio on your show.”
Jessica leans back against the couch cushions, puts her feet up on the coffee table, and closes her eyes. “Lucky girl,” she whispers to herself.
Everyone in the studio adds his or her own exclamation of disbelief. “Orlando Bloom!” Kristi Lee squeals. “He’s the biggest thing in Hollywood right now! You’ll never get him to do that!”
“Now, wait I’m not finished yet!” Tom says and continues reading the letter. “As an incentive for Orlando to meet a fan of his on your show myself, some of Jessie’s friends, and the regulars at ‘Jake’s Bar & Grille’ in Cleveland, Ohio have raised $1,000 to donate to one of his favorite charities.”
Jessica’s eyes fly open and she sits up dropping her feet to the floor. She can’t believe her ears! ‘Did he say ‘Jake’s Bar & Grille’ in Cleveland, Ohio?’ she thinks to herself. ‘But … that’s my place!’
Everyone in the studio all gasp at the proposition the author of this letter was making. “We understand that you don’t often have actors on your show,” Tom continues,“but we’re hoping that you could make an exception. If you decide to read this on the air (and I hope you do!) Jessie should be listening. Every morning she tries to make it home from the bar in time to take a shower and listen to the news on your show. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Vicki Burns. So, Jessie,” Tom says placing the letter down on the consol in front of him. “If you’re listening give us a call here at (888) BOB-TOM1. We’d love to talk to you about this letter!”
Jessica lunges toward the kitchen forgetting about the coffee table in front of her. After scrambling back to her feet she runs for the kitchen. With trembling hands she picks up the phone on the wall and dials the number. The line rings a couple times and finally a voice says “Hello? This is the Bob and Tom show.”
“Uh…hello…uh…I’m calling about that letter that Tom just read on the air.” Jessica says with a shaky voice. “I think it’s about me!”
During her conversation with the cast of the Bob and Tom show Jessica learns that they had received Vicki’s letter a couple weeks before and Orlando was already booked to come on the show to meet her two weeks from now. After making final travel arrangements with the radio station she hangs the phone back up. She stands there for a moment letting it all sink in. Her hand was still on the phone handset when it rings suddenly.
“Hello?” Jessica says as her heart pounds in her chest.
“Am I the best friend in the world or what?” Vicki’s says over the phone in her native Brooklyn, NY accent.
Jessica almost drops the phone as she busts out laughing.
