Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know Orlando Bloom. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
This is well, I guess my first several chapters. Finally one I think I'll finish! YaY! Anyway, I obviously don't own the Bloom man, so don't ask for turns with him. Making no money off this either yo!
Chapter 1
Exhausted mentally and physically Orlando slowly made his way up the stairs leading to the flat he and Kate shared when he was in Los Angeles. He was just the day before let off filming for a short break as he was ill and exhausted from all the work he’s completed in his rather short career as an actor. He loved the work, he loved the fans, even though it still got to him how immensely popular he had become in such a short time. Work for him was sword fighting, archery, kissing, and just general fun. He loved it, but he needed to slow down, he was slowly losing himself and his sense of normalcy.
“Orlando Bloom, resting for four whole weeks, what a shock.” Orlando said to himself and chuckled.
He reached the top of the stairs, began rummaging around in his pockets for his key only to find the door open when he reached it at the end of the hallway. Panic built inside him, where were the dogs? What about Kate? She was due in today. Did she forget to close the door? No she wouldn’t the dogs would be inside, they weren’t allowed out in the hallway. Ever! Orlando put his bags down, and slowly entered the flat.
“Kate?” He whispered not wanting to alert anyone who may be in there.
There to the left side of the door was a vase that had fallen to the floor and broken, Kate’s luggage was spread about the room, a window was broken. Why hadn’t he seen that from the outside? The room was in chaos.
“Shit, Kate?” He whispered again digging in his pockets in search of that blasted cell phone.
Finally he found it, began dialing 9..1…. then a thump, as if something had fallen.
“Shit, this is not a good idea, but, what if Kate is in danger?” He told himself as he tip toed to the room the noise had come from, the room they shared when he was in L.A.
Keeping to the walls he made his way over the debris and broken glass covering the floor, he inched his way to the door. He craned his neck to peer around the wall and into the room. There she was, on the floor, hands bound, feet bound, and gagged.
Quickly he found his way back to the wall, not wanting to alert whoever may be in there with her to his presence.
“Dammit, Kate, it must be thieves.” He thought for a moment and decided that he would check the room for the intruders and if no one was there, grab Kate and make a run for it, the dogs must have run off so he wouldn’t even look for them.
Slowly, careful as ever he craned his neck around ready to inch his way into the room when his face connected with a fist, knocking him off his feet into the glass and debris on the floor.
He heard Kate crying through the gag, and he heard laughing, then someone commanding another to get him up. Orlando was lifted from the ground by two hands under his arms, and was carried into his and Kate’s room where his arms were handcuffed behind him.
Still semi out of it from the blow he allowed everything without a struggle. The men sat Orlando down on the bed, and a man stepped into Orlando’s view. He began speaking, of what Orlando didn’t know, it sounded like another language to him. He heard someone saying Mister Bloom, and then felt water splashed on his face, which quickly brought him out of the haze. The man in front of him began speaking again, this time Orlando understood ever word.
“Mr. Bloom, I have a business offer I would wish to speak of with you.”
“What? You’re not here to rob the apartment?”
“Of course not.”
“Then why is Kate tied up on the floor, and my dogs missing?”
“Your dogs are not missing, they’re with your neighbor, I asked them to take them for a short while saying you weren’t home and they had escaped. Kate, well Kate wouldn’t cooperate, so something had to be done about her.”
Orlando grinned knowing Kate’s spirit all too well, and imagined how she fought them before they finally restrained her.
“What do you want?”
“You Mr. Bloom. I require your services.”
“My services?”
“Yes, as an actor sir. You see, I want to make a movie, and I need you in it. You would be paid of course, not legally obviously, but you would be paid, and neither you nor Kate will be harmed if you cooperate.”
“A movie? Why didn’t you just call my agent? Why this?”
“Because for the next 6 months I need you completely at my disposal, no other work, no travel, no friends, Kate, family. Nothing.”
“Shit, I can’t do that. I’m filming Elizabethtown. They only gave me a four week break.”
“Well, I would suggest you get a longer Break Mister Bloom, I can be very generous, and I can be very ruthless, and having such a pretty young lady in my possession while you fulfill your task could be quite unpleasant for her.”
“Fuck you, you can’t touch her.”
“I never said I would touch her, you see, I have a love of my own. She is the reason for all this, Mister Bloom, she is my inspiration. The movie I wish for you to film is her all time favorite book. It’s titled The Darkangel. You would play the darkangel.”
“And I suppose she would be in the movie?”
“Oh no, no, she’s no actress. Just a big fan of yours, which reminds me, she’s graduating this week, and she will be getting a very nice surprise visit from a certain British actor soon, don’t you think?”
Orlando just thought for a moment, if he didn’t do what the man asked of him, he and Kate would both be screwed, and maybe, just maybe he could somehow alert the police to this and they could help.
“I guess, where does she live?”
“New York my good boy.”
“New York? Is she coming here?”
“No, you will be going to her, along with myself. Kate will stay here under the constant watch and care of my best man and business associate.”
“So I suppose this is some ploy to win her heart? She meets me and thinks you’re the greatest for giving her such a graduation gift?”
“Something like that, and the making of her favorite book into film. She’s always wanted that, and you would make the perfect darkangel.”
The man tossed three paperback books in Orlando’s face.
“Come on now, we have a flight to catch, you will read those on the plane.”
“Can I say goodbye to Kate and my dogs first? Make sure they’re truly alright.”
“Very well, Joel, take the gag off the girl, and Marty, go get the mutts.”
Orlando crossed the room to where Kate laid on the floor.
“Kate, baby are you alright?”
Kate sobbed uncontrollably and managed to reply with a yes and cry for help.
“I know baby, I’ll do what I can, these people wont hurt you, will they?” Orlando turned and stared at the man he had spoken to.
“Kate, my darling, no harm shall come to you so long as your heart throb boyfriend does as he should. My men are under strict orders.”
With that the gag was replaced and Orlando was grabbed by the arm and dragged off to see the dogs in the living room.
“See Orlando, all safe and sound. I’m a dog lover too, and would never harm the beasts. Now it is time to go.”
A jacket was put over Orlando’s shoulders, and the two men escorted him outside to a black BMW.
Chapter 2
“Alright Bloom, I want to warn you before we remove your handcuffs and enter the terminal to board the plane. I want you to know, my buddy Joel here, he’s a retired FBI agent trained in long distance shooting, he has a keen eye, and will have a gun trained on your head at all times whether you know it or not, so behave okay?”
Orlando sighed and shook his head yes, and his restraints were removed. He was handed a suitcase, bag and a plane ticket, and escorted in the terminal. These men were not people to mess with, he saw that right away, well, felt it, and he was going to do as he told for his and Kate’s well being and safety. He loved her, it was his duty to protect her as he was the reason she was in this mess in the first place.
Orlando got looks from people going by and the people going by got looks from the men Orlando was to be traveling with, and somehow they kept the girls at bay. Finally and oddly enough they got through security and to the airplane without a problem. Not a peep from the metal detector. He thought about that for a while, if “Joel” had a gun why didn’t the metal detector go off when the man went through it?
He wondered if it was stupid to test the man, see if he truly had a gun, if he did, he might be shot and then Kate would be killed as well. It just wasn’t worth the risk with everything he loved at stake.
The plane ride was long, and quiet, the men sat on either side of Orlando and he was told he had better get reading, as he only had a few days before production on the movie would begin. Orlando quietly read the book, for two long torturous hours until the stewardess finally came to serve them dinner and get excited about who he was. He signed an autograph for her, and gave her a hug, with the men both intently watching for any kind of trouble.
After the young stewardess left Orlando ate his dinner and continued reading, the book was oit wit was about a young woman slave who has her best friend and master stolen by a darkangel, and she decides to avenge her friends death as she has no one else in the world. The darkangel takes her and she finds she hasn’t been chosen as another of his wives as her best friend had, but as a maid of sorts to the wraiths who are his previous wives.
Since she can’t tell which is her friend, she loves and cares for them all, along many gargoyle like creatures that are in the tower of the castle she was taken to. That was as far as he had gotten when the plane landed in New York.
“Okay Bloom, time to go now. No funny business okay.” Orlando sighed and stood up and was quickly escorted off the plane, through the terminal and to a waiting car.
“In a bit of a hurry are we?”
“Yeah, we don’t need any of your kiddy fans stopping you for autographs.”
“So, where are we headed?”
“To my dear Aileyne’s house.”
“Aileyne. Wow, interesting name.”
“Indeed Orlando.”
“Stop right here Rory, please wait for me.”
The man who Orlando suddenly realized he hadn’t even learned his name yet exited the car and made his way into a flower shop.
“Heh how romantic, flowers and a kidnapped actor.”
“Shut up kid.”
“Joel, you speak? Wow, I’m shocked.”
“I speak when I need to, now shut up Bloom.”
“As you wish.”
Finally the man returned carrying a huge bouquet of silvery purplish colored roses. He smiled as he entered the car. “Her favorite.” The car pulled away from the flower shop headed to an unknown destination. Orlando thought now was his chance to speak, the man seemed in a cheery mood.
“Hey, I’ve yet to learn my captivators name.”
“Rourke, Bloom, the name is Rourke Lawson.”
They sat in silence for a long while until Orlando spoke again.
“What city is this?”
“Ithaca, New York. She is studying here.”
“Studying what? Organized crime 101?”
Rourke roughly smacked Orlando on the back of the head.
“Be nice, she’s about the nicest person you’ll ever want to meet.” Orlando feeling brave replied
“Is that why she denies your advances?”
“Bloom, you are walking on thin ice here, I suggest you watch your tongue.”
Orlando sighed in exasperation and took the book up again, he had to read it, know it if this was ever to end. Orlando read for another half hour or so until they finally stopped in front of an oddly painted three story country looking house, with pink, purple, and yellow paint.
Rourke leaned over Orlando and whispered something in Joel’s ear, then picked up the flowers and exited the car. Orlando looked around the neighborhood, there were lots of hills, many beautiful homes, gardens and dogs were everywhere with their owners. It was a typical suburban neighborhood among hills and wide fields of rolling corn.
Orlando and Joel sat in silence while Rory talked on his cell phone, Orlando was getting pretty restless and nervous about what lay before him. Orlando again picked up his book, and made the attempt to finish book one The Darkangel, he still had A Gathering of Gargoyles, and The Pearl of the Soul of the World to read, with not a lot of time to do it.
Some time later Rourke and a young woman made their way out of the house and to the waiting car, Orlando was immersed in the book and was shocked out of it when the car door was opened, and the young woman gave a startled cry.
“Ahh! ORLANDO BLOOM!” Orlando cringed and turned his head to look at the woman and smile.
Orlando stepped ou the the vehicle, Aileyne and Rourke stepped back to allow him room.
“Oh my god Rourke why didn’t you tell me?” The young girl said gently punching him in the arm.
“I wanted it to be a surprise my love.”
The young girl turned her head from Rourke and secretly rolled her eyes, and Orlando grinned.
Apparently he was right, she did refuse his love. Orlando decided she was embarrassed and spoke up to break the silence.
“Good day Miss Aileyne, I’m very pleased to meet you, Rourke has spoken very highly of you.”
The young woman blushed and smiled.
“Thank you Mister Bloom, it is SUCH a pleasure to meet you, I am such a big fan, I was even disgusted by Paris’ actions yet adored you all the more because you have to be a wonderful actor to make a person feel that way about the man who played the ELF.”
Orlando just smiled, and inwardly sighed, another typical fan.
“So, what are you doing here Mr. Bloom?”
“Orlando, please. I’m here to be of service to your friend Mr. Lawson here. He’s filming a movie and I will be appearing in it.”
“Oh really? What movie would this be?” Orlando held the book up to show her, but Rourke spoke to get her attention away from it.
“Come now, Aileyne, it’s my business, wait and see, I’m sure it will be online somewhere.”
He elbowed her in the arm teasing her about her constant computer usage.
“She’s an internet nut, always on it.”
“Oh? I’ve never been online, the internet scares me.”
“I know, but hey, don’t make judgment about something you’ve never tried Orlando. I’d be happy to show you around a computer someday.” The girl winked.
The girl seemed nice enough, she was definitely nothing like the man that held such high regard and love for her. She had an innocent sweetness about her, she was soft spoken and such a tiny thing, he would even go so far to as to admit she was rather cute.
“Well Aileyne, would you be so kind as to join us for dinner?”
“Dinner?” She looks at her watch. “Yes, yes, would you allow me time to change? I can be quick.”
“Of course my lovely.”
Chapter 3
They all ended up at a small Chinese restaurant in town, Rourke with Joel to his right Aileyne to his left, Orlando was to Aileyne’s left, and Joel was to Orlando’s left. Conversation came easy for Rourke, and Aileyne, but Joel and Orlando sat in silence, Orlando listened, and thought of a way to get himself out of this, and help Kate at the same time.
Halfway through the meal a phone rang, Orlando was disturbed from his thoughts and looked up, Rourke was answering a cell phone, he asked the person on the other line to hold a moment, and leaned into Joel’s ear and whispered something, then excused himself from the table. Aileyne looked around the table, smiling at Joel and Orlando.
“Orlando, are you enjoying your stay here? How long have you been in Ithaca, how long do you plan to stay?”
“Oh, I only just arrived today, it’s quite lovely here.” Orlando smiled.
“It is, indeed, but the hills bother me, there’s far too many, and most are far too high.”
“Rourke tells me you are studying here. What are you studying?”
“Nothing really, just general classes, no major. Though I have my dreams.”
“I see, do you live alone? That was a lovely home, do you rent or own it?”
“Yes, I have two room mates, Lori, and Paris my dog. Lori owns the house and was lovely enough to let Paris come live with me”
“You have a dog? Great, I’d love to meet Paris, what is she?”
“Oh she’s just a mutt, well, she’s a mixture of two breeds, dachshund, and Chihuahua.”
“Cute, I have quite a few dogs, I just can’t turn a dog away if it’s in need, they’re a big weakness for me.”
“Yeah, I’ve noticed, that’s so sweet. How many do you have now? Eighty? I used to rehabilitate wildlife several years back. There’s nothing better than releasing an animal who would have surely died without your help, out into the wild where it belongs to live it’s life, wild and free.”
“What sort of things did you rehabilitate?”
“Oh raccoons, birds, squirrels, beavers, deer, animals that live in New York.”
Orlando and Aileyne continued on with the subject of animals for several minutes when Rourke eventually made his way back to the table. He whispered once again in Joel’s ear, turned to Orlando and Aileyne and proceeded to explain he and Joel had some business to discuss and would only be a few minutes, they would return soon. Joel got from his seat, walked towards door of the restaurant, and exited. Rourke made to do the same, and follow Joel out, but turned suddenly, and stopped to speak.
“Hey, behave you two, I mean it, she’s mine Orlando, no funny business.” He winked and turned to take his leave.
Orlando thought for a moment, this could be his chance, the chance he needed, and she could provide the help needed.
“Aileyne.”
"Yes Orlando?”
“Do you know how Rourke got me to come here?”
“Hmm? No, but I assumed that considering you’re working together that he may have asked a favor of you knowing I am such a fan, rather sweet of him.” He thought again.
Did he really want to involve this sweet girl in his huge mess? She knew nothing of it, she knew nothing of Rourke’s corrupt nature, she had no part in this. Should he put her in possible danger? The man may love her, but that wouldn’t stop him from silencing her if need be.
“Aileyne, there’s something you should know about Rourke.”
“That he’s in love with me? Yes, I know Orlando, and I would appreciate if you left that topic alone.”
“No! You don’t understand, that’s not it, I need to tell you something about him…Oh shit, they’re coming back. Don’t mention I said anything please Aileyne.”
“Um, okay, are you alright Orlando?”
“Yes, I’m fine, just act like everything is normal, please.”
“Yes Orlando, that’s right, those are indeed grey squirrels, and yes they are adorable. Rourke! Joel! Welcome back, I trust all is well?”
“Hmm? Oh yes Aiy, everything is fine, I just found out Orlando and I need to be somewhere in one hour, meaning I have to drop you off at home now. I’m sorry for such a short evening Aileyne.”
The car pulled up to Aileyne’s home, Rourke was first out of the car, followed by Orlando, and then Aileyne. Rourke said his quick goodbye’s as he was evidently in a great hurry, but Aileyne lingered, keeping Orlando immersed in conversation.
“Aileyne, I hate to be rude, but we’re in a hurry Hun.”
“Oh Rourke, shush. Come Orlando, walk me to the door, we can finish our conversation on the way.”
Orlando looked at Rourke for his reaction, he merely rolled his eyes and motioned for him to go. He linked his arm through hers and they walked to her door.
“Alright Orlando, what’s up? What did you want to say earlier?”
“Not now, there’s not enough time and we don’t want him to get suspicious. Ask to come to watch filming, make sure you’re there, we NEED to talk.”
“Is this bad?”
“Yes, quite, now go on in and make sure you show for filming Aileyne. It was a pleasure meeting you, I mean it, I enjoyed our conversations.”
“Likewise Mr. Bloom. Thank you.”
“Goodnight.” Orlando gently took her hand in his own, bowed down and kissed it. Slowly, in a daze Aileynee made her way in her door, and out of sight, Orlando’s only hope for getting out of this mess.
Chapter 4
Orlando was taken to an old seemingly abandoned warehouse of sorts, and was told to wait in the car with Joel. Rourke entered the warehouse and was gone for at least forty minutes.
“What’s taking him so long?”
“I don’t know.”
“You’re a talkative thing. I have to pee.”
“You have to wait, you’re not to go anywhere.”
“You do realize since you two ever so sweetly took me from my home, my dogs and my girlfriend I have yet to have the chance? You breath down my neck like I’m going to alert the world to this huge conspiracy of yours.”
Joel seemed to think for a moment, got out of the car, and walked around to Orlando’s side opening the door.
“Alright, out Bloom, no funny business.”
“Funny business? Like what? Pleasuring myself after I piss?”
“Move.” Joel pushed him towards a bush away from the car and parking lot.
“Okay, okay, you don’t have to be so pushy.”
“Thin ice Bloom, thin ice.”
Some time later Rourke finally exited the large run down old warehouse with an angry look upon his face. Joel jumped out of the car and jogged towards Rourke, and Orlando just leaned his head back for a rest while the two men conversed outside. He heard none of what was being said but soon after he was pulled out of the car rather roughly and pulled inside the warehouse. Orlando was amazed to find the inside looked somewhat like a movie set, with a small apartment like area set up in a room off to the left when you entered the warehouse. Rourke pointed the room out.
“See that? That is where you will be living while you are working for me. It’s completely monitored and will be locked up tight at night. There is a fridge, plenty of food, a sink and bathroom in there for you.”
“Okay.” Orlando knew better than to say anything more, this man was not in a mood to suffer his foolish remarks.
“And there has been a slight change of plans as far as the lead female in the movie. I had planned for a young actress by the name of Lori Singer to play the part but she fell ill and wont be able to help out. So I will be asking Aileyn to play the part after all. She may not be an actress but she’s been in her share of plays and such for school.”
“Sure, it’s your business.”
Rourke looked at the man as if he were scum and he looked down on him, truth was he is insanelylouslous of the man. He only wished Aileyne felt that way about him, all he received was pity and contempt.
“Okay, put him in his room Joel, and lock it up for the night.”
“Right boss, move it Bloom.”
As Rourke watched the man he could never be, the man the woman he could never have loved walk to his ‘designated’ abode he pondered his plans for Bloom and Aileyne. So far things were going okay, Aileyne was very grateful to him, but she was focusing her attention on Orlando for most of the evening. What would happen if they worked together? Would she fall even more in love with him?
He wouldn’t let that happen, though it was so cliché, if he couldn’t have her, no one would, most especially Orlando Bloom. Orlando was everything he could never be, he was as she put it ‘painfully gorgeous’, successful, rich(Granted Rourke was rich, but he made his money the wrong way) and he seemed genuinely nice, Rourke could only fake it most of the time, as his life was truly stressful to the point where he was miserable to all who crossed his path.
But Aileyne, He fell hard and fast for her, the day they met, the worst day of his life, she was so sweet and comforting for him. He loved her for that day, she meant the world to him and no one else would have her.
Plans for the movie were going well with the exception of the young actress meant to play Ariel being injured severely during the kidnapping. The script was on it’s way, they had Bloom, they made the budget, and the sets were built.
Filming for The Darkangel would begin the very next day, he would talk Aileyne into playing Ariel and things would be perfect. Yes, perfect indeed, he would show Aileyne every kindness possible, he would throw her a graduation party three weeks from now and all would be perfect, she would kiss him that day.
He also had plans for Bloom, he couldn’t have Aileyne going through life loving the man she would never have, Bloom would die, yes he would die at the end of filming, and Rourke Lawson would comfort Aileyne and she would love him all the more. His plans were foolproof, and nothing would stand in his way of having Aileyne. He then thought to himself that he was beginning to sound like a mad scientist, and he chuckled.
Chapter 5
“Orlando? Orlando? Where are you? What’s going on?”
Aileyn walked slowly through a dark cavernous warehouse, her voice echoed off the walls. She felt something, someone watching her, she looked behind her in vain, it was far too dark, and her eyes had not yet adjusted.
“Orlando? Hello?”
She saw a faint silhouette leaning against the wall up ahead, she slowly made her way towards it, her footfalls echoing with every step she took.
“Orlando? Is that you?” She saw the sulhouette move slightly on it’s feet seemingly growing nervous the closer she edged towards it.
Finally it spoke, as she was about to reach her hand out to touch it’s arm.
“No Aileyne, stay, just stay back, it’s not safe. Please.”
Confused she slowly backed away, afraid of what he could mean, when she heard a loud popping sound, a gunshot. The dark figure fell back to the wall and slid down to the ground and lay silent. She ran to and knelt next to Orlando screaming and crying.
“Orlando, no, no, no don’t die, Orlando, can you hear me? Please hear me.”
He tried to speak but all that came were short senseless words with the blood in his throat drowning him, she sat helpless in the cool dark warehouse, with Orlando in her arms. She felt so utterly alone, with Orlando on the verge of death, and absolute silence all around them. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, she had never been so afraid before in her life.
Her hands were covered in the, warm slick blood from Orlando’s wound , that with each passing moment sucked the last bits of life from his body. He motioned for her to lean closer to his face, she could smell the sickeningly sweet stench of the blood on his breath, he tried to whisper in her ear, and only ended up splattering blood everywhere.
He was fighting a losing battle, but Orlando was not going to give up without a fight, he continued his attempts of conveying a message to her. Suddenly, without warning Aileyne was grabbed from behind and lifted by her arm.
“You’re coming with me sweetie.” An unknown voice uttered. She kicked and fought and screamed to no avail. Orlando was left to die alone.
Aileyen awoke to a ringing phone, grumbling to herself, she put on a shirt, rose from her bed and made her way to her computer desk where she had left the phone the night before. Aileyne quickly pawed through the hurricane ravaged mess that was her desk, just managing to find the phone before the machine in the other room was set to pick up. She hated having to run in there to shut it off, and even more so talking over the blasted thing.
“Lo, Laura and Aileyen’s residence, who are you calling for?”
“You my dear, how are you Aileyne?” She rolled her eyes in annoyance, he never quit that man.
“Rourke, just peachy and yourself?”
"Yes, yes I’m fine love. I’ve called because I am in need of a huge favor. Could you meet Orlando and myself for lunch around 2pm?”
Aileyne perked up at the mention of Orlando, and yet, there tugging at the back of her mind was an odd feeling of dread, fear, something bad was going to happen. She thought for a moment, and considered the offer. Chalking her odd feelings up to nothing more than bad fish, or whatever last nights dinner was, she whole heartedly agreed.
“Of course Rourke, I’d be happy to, where should I meet you?”
