The day was not going well for Cole. Well, if you count waking up late, running out of hot water with shampoo still in your hair, burning your tongue on coffee and getting halfway to work before you remember you forgot your security pass, a bad day. So Cole was running at top speed to get to the meeting she was already late for, digging in her briefcase for the folder with all the confirmations.
"A Ha! Here it is.....oooff." Her folder flew out of her hand and the papers scattered everywhere. "God damnit!" She said as she tried to catch her papers. That’s when she noticed the man laying face first on the floor.
"Oops." She muttered. The man was obviously not happy with being shoved to the ground.
"Fuck! Watch where you're going." He muttered and a large man rushed to help him up.
"Uhm, sorry. I am late and I was looking for something in my bag and.." Cole started to explain.
"So you ran me down? Well I'm happy you weren't driving a car because I'd be in the hospital or the morgue." He sneered at her. But Cole didn't say anything.
'Ah fuck me. My career is over.' She thought because the man she had knocked over was Robbie Williams. He was an integral part of Cole's latest job, although they had never met and probably wouldn't have met, if she hadn't almost killed him.
'Okay Cole smooth things over, make him happy.'
"Mr. Williams, I really am sorry. Please forgive me." She was practically begging him now. He glanced at her security badge.
"Nicole Phillips, Assistant Director. They have you as an A.D.?" He actually laughed. Fighting back an insult she just smiled, keep the stars happy was the motto here.
"Yes, I am Brian's assistant. I am actually late for a meeting with him. I just want to apologize again, before I go. I really am very sorry." She said,
'Shit now he knows my name and he will probably go complain to Brian and get me fired.' She had heard that Robbie Williams was a nice guy but she didn't buy that. All celebrities were the same, if you didn't kiss their asses, they got pissed off and pulled a power trip.
"Yeah, well next time try to leave my body intact okay." He said turning and walking away. Leave his body intact? She glanced at his retreating body, damn he had a nice ass.
"Cole, get your ass in here." She heard Brian shouting from down the hall. She grabbed the last of her papers and ran into the office.
Cole slouched in the seat next to Brian. He had decided she would join him in front of the stage to watch Robbie Williams' rehearsal. She was mortified, what if he saw her and then complained about her right in front of Brian. Brian was normally a sweet, kind-hearted man, but since signing on to direct this awards show, he had been a borderline prick to work for. She did know, he had been happy with her work so far, she had organized all the gift bags for the presenters, the flowers for back stage, food and drinks for backstage as well as the after party as well as confirmed all the presenters and performers. Robbie's band was on stage playing a few notes while they waited for him to come onstage as well.
"Cole, sit up. This isn't your nap time." Brian said to Cole without even looking at her. She was about to tell him about knocking Robbie Williams over when Robbie came out on stage. She had to admit he was really good looking but she always found him to be so arrogant, it turned her off. Most celebrities did, she hadn't been excited about meeting a celebrity since her childhood hero had come on to her. Who would have thought that Uncle Georgie, would be a raging alcoholic and a dirty old man. Uncle Georgie had actually grabbed her ass and told her she had lips for blowing a man. She had been shocked and close to tears because she felt betrayed. This was the man that had taught her about sharing, being nice to others and using your manners. But he had been a fraud. So were most of the others she had met. Cole's thoughts returned to the present when Robbie began to sing. He would be singing a medley of his greatest hits. She checked the itinerary and saw that she was familiar with most of the songs. She wasn't a huge fan but his music was so popular you couldn't help but know most of them. As he launched into 'Let Me Entertain You", Cole noticed he was dancing toward her and Brian. Shit! She picked up some papers and pretended she was reading them.
Robbie noticed Nicole Phillips A.D. sitting beside the Director Brian Newton. He almost laughed when she saw him heading their way and she began to look through some sort of file, she was avoiding him. He was still pissed off, his knee had a huge bruise already forming, from where she had trampled him. He took a good look at her, she was kind of weird looking. She had short hair, not like a boy's but it was shorter than most girls wore it. It was blonde, with streaks, of black, red and even blue in it. Very strange, he thought. Her clothes were a disaster, she was wearing a short black micro mini with orange panty hose underneath. She had on a red t-shirt with some writing and a picture in white, he couldn't see what it said because she had a jean jacket on over top of it. She had large eyes, they were bright blue, he remembered that from their earlier meeting. She would have been cute if it weren't for her weird clothes and bizarre hair.
She was still reading her papers when the music for Rock DJ started. Cole smiled down at her papers, this was a song she really liked. She fought the urge to jump up and dance. She looked up to watch him sing this one and saw he was looking at her. She felt her heart stop for a second. Then she caught herself and thought. Don't be stupid, Cole, only you and Brian are watching this, who else is he going to look at.
"This guy is brilliant." Brian leaned over and whispered to her. Cole just nodded, unable to take her eyes off him. All her girlfriends always went on about how sexy he was, she had always thought he was good looking but seeing him in person was taking her breath away. He smiled, winked at her and turned his back to her, shaking that sexy ass as he danced away.
"Cocky bastard." She whispered.
"What’s that Cole?" Brian asked.
"Nothing." She mumbled. She couldn't take her eyes off him as he began to sing "Feel".
He noticed her and motioned for her to come up onstage with him. Cole shook her head and looked away, he motioned again. Brian was laughing
"Go on Cole, its not everyday that a girl gets to join him on stage."
Cole slammed her papers on the floor in front of her and climbed the stairs and stood in front of him. She knew he often pulled girls out of the audience and danced with them. He was obviously expecting her to go all hysterical over him. He smiled a big charming smile at her, she felt her heart flip flop, then he said,
"Nicole, would you mind fetching me a bottle of water?" Then he continued singing, walking back to the band. Fetching? He asked her to fetch? She was ready to push him down again. She actually walked towards him to do just that, when she caught Brian looking at her. She smiled and walked backstage to locate some water.
"I should spit in the fucking water." She mumbled to herself. What a complete asshole Robbie Williams was, she thought. "I wish there was some way to knock him down a peg or two" She muttered as she grabbed the water and walked back to the stage.
"Oh my God! You actually met Robbie Williams! And touched him?? You are so lucky!" Renee was holding onto Cole's arms while she jumped up and down.
Cole was just standing there looking at Renee like she was insane. "Didn't you hear me? He's a jerk." Cole repeated to her.
"No he's not. You ran him down. Anyone would be upset after being knocked down." Renee said defensively.
"Well, I'll introduce you and then you can fetch is fucking water for him." Cole said
"I would clean his feet with my tongue." Renee said with a laugh.
"Yuck." Cole laughed too as she pulling her wig off and shook her long brown hair out.
"I can't believe you wore that horrible wig. You were wearing that when you met him?" Renee was not that shocked by Cole's wig and clothes, she was always wearing some weird ensemble.
"Yeah. I love this wig."
"Yeah well if you were wearing one of your business suits and you real hair, he would have been ready to clean your feet with his tongue." Renee said with all seriousness. She didn't understand why Cole hid her beauty with strange clothes and hairdos.
"As if I would want someone who only wanted me for my looks." Cole answered. "You know I would love to teach him a lesson." Cole said.
"What kind of lesson?" Renee asked from the mirror where she was trying on the wig.
"I don't know. Let him see how it feels to be treated like crap."
"Cole, I have it. A love spell." Renee said ripping the wig off her head and running to her bedroom.
"I don't want to be in love with him." Cole called out.
"Yeah, but if he's in love with you, you can make him do embarrassing things." Renee said as she came out with a thick book.
"Renee, you know I don't believe in that crap." Cole told her.
"Witchcraft is real. And I have had success with some of my spells." Renee informed her.
"With what spells?" Cole asked her, skeptically.
"Remember that guy from the bus? The cute one I see every morning? Well I did a love spell and he asked me out the next day."
Cole looked at Renee's green eyes, model perfect body and long blonde hair. "I don't think you needed a love spell to get him to ask you out." Cole told her.
"Well, then there was that dress, I wanted. The black designer one. Well I did a spell for it and I got a bonus four days later." Renee said matter of factly.
"Renee you got a bonus because you work hard and deserved it. Not because of some spell." Cole had never understood Renee's fascination with witchcraft.
"Well, it can't hurt. Lets do it."
Cole nodded and said, "What do we have to do?"
"Well we have to decide which one to use. There are so many to choose from. Which one do you think?"
Cole grabbed the book and opened it. "How about this one?" She asked.
"Hmmm, Love Spell Number 4. It’s a simple one and we won't need a personal effect or his hair or blood." Renee said reading the spell.
"Well that’s good, because I can't see him giving me a vial of his blood." Cole said dryly.
"Okay I have all the things we need, except we need a picture of him." Renee said going to get the stuff together.
"A picture? Can it be from a magazine?" Cole called out.
"Yes." Came Renee's answer.
Cole rummaged through some drawers, looking for a teen magazine with a picture of Robbie.
"Here's one." She said as Renee came back into the room.
"I have to mix this stuff up, say the incantation then sprinkle it on his picture. Next time he sees you he will be practically foaming at the mouth over you."
"Some how I doubt that." Cole said as she began to read the article that accompanied the picture.
"Cole, I need the picture now." Renee tore the picture out and laid it on the table. Then she started the incantation. Cole didn't really listen because she felt as though, something about the person in the image would be Cole's willing love slave.
"Love slave?" That didn't sound so bad. Renee finished up with the sprinkling on Robbie's picture.
"There it’s done." She said.
"Do you really think it worked?" Cole asked. She wanted to be sceptical but deep down inside she kind of believed it.
"I am sure it did." Renee said confidently.
"Come on lets go get a pizza." Cole said standing up and heading for the door. After they had left, Rasputain, Renee's cat, jumped up on the table, knocking over the whole bowl of potion, onto the teen magazine.
