Wow.......well, it certainly HAS been awhile hasnt it.....I don't really know what to say.....this si the first thing ve written in a while, I just havent had the time I suppose, nor the muse....I'm going to try to get back into the groove of things but I'm a bit rusty so any comments you have would be greatly appreciated :)
The room was pure white. So white in fact that the young man had to squint his eyes while they adjusted to the brightness surrounding him. The room was plain in appearance, no decorations hung on the walls, three plastic chairs sat against one wall facing the opposite empty wall. Behind the young man were three white doors, with silver door knobs. Had he come in through one of those doors? He must have….they were the only entrances to the room….but he couldn’t remember.
The more he thought about it, the more he realized he didn’t know… his own name, where he was from, what he was doing here. He couldn’t remember….and it frightened him. He tried opening the doors, but none of them would budge. He was locked inside the room, alone and frightened, he backed into one of the far corners of the room and sank to his knees, drawing them up to his chest, dark hair covering his sapphire eyes.
Had he been kidnapped? What was going to happen to him, why couldn’t he remember his name… he just wanted to go home; he wanted to remember where home was!
The young man didn’t know how much time had past when a noise alerted him to look up at the three doors, the middle one was shaking, before bursting open revealing a fierce-looking man who stormed into the room frighteningly, causing the huddling young man to shrink further against the wall.
“P-Please don’t hurt me! I just want to go home!” He spoke instantly, his voice shaking a little as he regarded the newcomer to the room. The man’s fierceness seemed to have evaporated as he entered the room, now he stared around with wonder, the middle door shutting automatically behind him.
“Huh?” He asked, confused, “What are you talking about?” He looked down at the cowering man, concern written all over his features “Are you ok?”
The blue-eyed man nodded his head uncertainly. “You mean you didn’t bring me here?” He asked. The newcomer shook his head adamantly
“Look, I don’t even know where ‘here’ is!” He said, frustrated as he looked around the room, “What’s with all the white?” He asked checking out his new surroundings.
“I-I don’t know,” the first man spoke, standing up to address the newcomer “Can….can you tell me where you came from?”
“Huh?” He seemed confused…..”…No….I….I don’t even know who I AM!” The newcomer was getting
antsy, running his fingers through his greasy brown hair, chocolate eyes darting around the room nervously. Immediately, he moved back to the wall with the three doors, trying to force one of them open, his failure only serving in aggravating him further.
“I already tried that.” The first man offered quietly, causing the second to spin around and face him angrily.
“Then how the hell are we supposed to get out of here?”
“I d-don’t know…I don’t know what’s going on either… I can’t remember anything other than being in this room. I don’t even know how I got here.”
The second man slumped to the floor, as the first sat down cross-legged facing him inquisitively.
“What do you suppose is going to happen to us?” He asked, resting his head in his palms, his elbows on his knees, black hair bushed back behind his ears. The other man regarded him cautiously at first, but soon relaxed, soothed by the first man’s sweet nature.
Seconds later however, he was on his feet and in a fighting position, as the middle door once again began to shake. It opened, to reveal a miserable looking man, tears falling silently from glittering emerald eyes as he slowly stepped into the room.
“Oh my god, are you ok? What’s wrong?” the first man rushed forwards, concerned for the newest member of their little group. The second man rushed for the door, desperate to escape, but he was too late, the door slammed shut before he could get out.
“Damn it!” he cursed under his breath, pounding against the door futilely.
“Are you okay?” The first man repeated, crystal blue eyes looking up into green ones, concern written all over his delicate features. The newcomer to the room blinked a few leftover tears away from his eyes, wiping his face slowly as he looked around the small room, his gaze settling on the shorter man before him.
“Y-yeah……I’m…I’m fine…..um, where are we?” He blinked, uncertainty in his eyes.
“Um….none of us know really….why were you crying?”
“Crying? I….I didn’t know I was…I don’t remember….” The man looked genuinely confused. The first man was beginning to think he understood.
“Can you tell me your name?” He asked. The newcomer thought for a moment, before shaking his head dejectedly.
“No. I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“Its ok... none of us knows who we are.” The first man soothed, the second nodding in agreement.
“Yeah, we don’t know how we got here either!” He added, both men trying to comfort the frazzled-
looking newcomer.
The third man was much more calm than either of his companions upon realizing that he was trapped in the room, he examined it thoroughly before choosing to sit down in one of the chairs in order to think things over.
“Maybe….” The first spoke up again, “Maybe this is some kind of government experiment…like one of those stress-performance tests or something.” He looked to his companions for their agreement, the third man nodding slightly, the second not so easily subdued.
“Well, how long do they plan to keep us in here?!” He demanded, as if the first man had all the answers.
“I-I don’t know….I just….how else could it be possible for none of us to remember where we’re from or who we are?”
“Fuck this! I’m getting out of here!” Te second man growled, charging over to the middle door, attempting to break it down. The door would not budge. “Christ what’s this thing made out of anyways!” He yelled, exasperated.
Meanwhile, the first man had gone to sit down next to the third man, curious as to what the newcomer had on his mind.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You’ve been awfully quiet since you got here.” He asked, putting his arm around the taller man’s shoulder comfortingly.
“Y-yeah, yeah I’m fine.” The newcomer forced a smile, trying to convince the first man that he was alright. The first man smiled back at him, a big bright comforting smile that reached his sparkling blue eyes, a smile that the third man was sure he had seen before, but he couldn’t remember when or where.
“Damn it!” The second man cursed, giving up on trying to break through any of the doors, coming back and collapsing in the third chair tiredly, rubbing his temples in frustration.
No sooner did he sit down than the door on the far left began to rattle, opening up a blinding white light hitting all three men unexpectedly, causing them to shut their eyes until the door had shut again. A new man was standing in front of the door, a solemn look on his face, a clipboard in his hands long golden blonde hair flowed down his back as striking blue eyes taking in the inhabitants of the room.
Yet his beautiful features were not what caught the attention of the three men sitting in the chairs. Instead, they all stared at the expanse of silvery-white feathers protruding from his back to form a perfect set of wings.
The angel’s gaze fell upon the first man, beautifully sad blue eyes staring into his own as the angel spoke.
“Darren Stanley Hayes….we shall begin with you.”
