Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know the members of Dir en grey. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: I do not own Dir En Grey, as much as I want to. I only own my character.
This is my first fic. ever, and I really don't want any flames. I know that most people would prefer the fic. was about KyoxKao or something, but sorry, I'm not bold enough to write that yet. So bare with me and R&R! One more note: I'm trying not to make this story predictable, so I'll do my best to put plot twists into it.

Ok, done rambling.
-Chapter one-
I felt myself shivering uncontrollably from the biting cold. It was already November. 'How did time pass so quickly?' I thought to myself, clutching my arms to my freezing body. Like that would even do any good. A gust of wind blew on me, but it felt more like a shove from behind and I stumbled forward, grasping a brightly lit street lamp. It was the only source of light in a world swallowed up by black.
Some frosty snowflakes began to coat my hair and clothes, and I once again shivered. I miserably slid down to the ground, leaning on the pole of the streetlight, and shut my eyes. My bangs brushed my closed eyes, and I used my numb hand to brush them away. I glanced at my fingertips. They were beginning to turn blue. I had on a pair of leather bike gloves, but all they did was cover my palms. I gritted my teeth and tears threatened to fall.
'This is it,' I thought to myself. 'I'm gonna die,' I decided to just make it fast. There was nothing left to strive for anymore. I'd lost everything. Might as well just let go. I bit my bottom lip hard until I could taste a metallic liquid.
'Death is a release, not a punishment. Where had I heard that from?' I stood up on shaky legs, steadying myself on the pole. A car rounded the street corner and I thought to myself, 'perfect,' and stepped out in front of the car.
I stood in the middle of the street, staring blankly at the quickly approaching vehicle, willing myself to stay in one place in spite of the fear inside of me.
Maybe it was from the blinding wall of snow, or just lack of warning, but the car slammed on the breaks at the very last minute. The tires slid on the slippery rood, and the car hit me in the abdomen, sending me toppling backwards. My head hit a patch of hard ice, causing stars to flash before my eyes. The pain was much more then anything I had been expecting, and I winced, curling up, clutching at my head, where the pain was concentrated.
Someone flew out of the car and ran towards me, leaning over me and mumbling something. I looked up, but the pain ripped through me, and my vision blackened. Before that, however, I caught sight of a bright red mass. Blood…? No, it was different.
***
My eyelids fluttered, and for a minute, my vision was blurry. I could tell I was lying down on something strange. I could hear a quiet, steady hum, and some people were talking with panic-stricken voices. Male voices.
"I knew we shouldn't have let Die drive," Someone grumbled.
"It wasn't my fault!" Another voice shouted, making my head ache. "She just… jumped out in front of me!"
I blinked, and my vision cleared. "What…?" I managed to say. I looked up and realized I was in a moving car. I was lying down on the laps of three men who I didn't recognize in the backseat. My head was resting on the knees of a blonde, my torso on a man with black hair and my legs, which were slightly on the floor since they couldn't fit like that, were on a very skinny man.
"She's awake," the one with shoulder-length black hair said. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, I sat up quickly, only to feel a sharp pain burst into my head and rip through my spine. I winced.
"Lie down," the man with fluffy blonde hair instructed me, and then pushed me down nonchalantly.
"Where are you taking me?" My voice was a little breathy from the agony.
"The hospital," The one who was driving said. "You're hurt, you might have a concussion," He sounded thoroughly agitated, probably because I almost made him run over me.
"No," I groaned. "No… hospitals, I don't have insurance,"
"Well what the hell are we supposed to do with you then?" A man with purple hair rolled his eyes. I narrowed my eyes at him, trying to look menacing.
"I don't care," I managed to say. "Just no doctors or hospitals," I begged. The person behind to wheel pulled over to the sidewalk, then shifted to look at me.
"Alright," He sounded exasperated. "What do we do with you? I can't toss you out on the street, I can't take you to the hospital,"
"Why can't you just leave me?" I asked as if it was a light question, my eyes closing slowly.
"It would be considered a hit and run," The driver explained. "I'm not about to commit a crime,"
"Let's take her to someone's place and then decide," The skinny one said quietly. "This isn't exactly comfortable for us,"
"It's not exactly comfortable for me either," I murmured, thoroughly annoyed by them. Why couldn't I have just died?
The car began moving again. "Whose place is closest?" The blonde asked.
"Probably… Shinya's," The one with purple hair said.
"Shinya?" I said aloud. "Sounds… familiar," I mumbled.
"Have you ever heard of 'Dir en grey' before?" The driver asked.
"No, I haven't," I answered. "What does that have to do with anything?" my mind was groggy, and I couldn't figure out why 'Shinya' rang a bell.
They all laughed at me, not with me, and I looked at them all, flustered. "Wwwwhhhhaaaatttt?" I moaned, confused.

"So… you're all in a rock band… called Dir en grey?" I said slowly, trying to comprehend what I had just been told. I leaned my head on the arm of the couch I was lying on. The others were sitting on a couch juxtaposition to my own.
"Yes," The blonde one nodded. He said he was called 'Kyo'.
"You're Kyo," I pointed at him, then turned my gaze to the purple haired one. "Kaoru, Toshiya, Shinya and Die," I named the rest of them. They all nodded.
"And you are…?" Die cocked a brow.
I looked at them suspiciously. "Does it matter?" I asked, unconsciously rubbing my left ribcage. It had been hurting even more ever since we got to this apartment.
"It would be helpful to know the name of the person I almost killed," Die's mouth curled into an unpleasant, mocking smirk.
I waited a moment before smiling playfully. "My name is Dio," I answered.
"Dio?" Toshiya repeated skeptically. "Really?"
"Hmmmhmmm," I nodded, paused, and looked down at myself. I was covered with dirt and snow, and I was sure that I smelled like I felt. "Can I use the shower?" I asked. "I swear I'll be really fast,"
Everyone's heads turned to look at Shinya. He just nodded without a word. I blinked, but slowly sat up despite the indescribable pain in my abdomen. "I'll find it by myself," I said quickly, before limping away.
"Uh, feel free to use the towels," Shinya called out, albeit timidly.
"Will do," I yelled back.
It felt great to finally be able to shower after fifteen solid days and nights of wandering the unsanitary streets. To me, fragrant soap and silky shampoo was a luxury like no other. I savored every last bit of it.
After getting out of the shower, I dried off, got back into my clothes and wrapped a towel around my hair, letting my stringy bangs hang over my face.
As I walked back into the room with the couches, I noticed that Kaoru was gone and Toshiya looked bored. The rest were watching T.V.
"How long was I in there?" I asked.
Die looked at his watch. "An hour and a half," He seemed annoyed, just a bit.
"Fifteen days," I exaggerated every consonant and vowel as much as I could to show him the extremity of my condition. "Now, I had a bag with me, where is it?"
Kyo gestured to my backpack lying on the ground in the middle of the room. It looked like someone had searched through it. "Did you open it?" I crossed my arms, my accusing stare studying each one of them.
"Why?" Die's cool eyes locked with mine. "Do you think we care what a homeless prostitute carries in her bag?"
That last sentence caused my blood to boil. "What did you say?" I crossed my arms, winced at the pain, and quickly uncrossed them.
"I said, do you think we care what a homeless prostitute carries in her bag?" He seemed completely unfazed by the fact that I was brimming with ire.
"Bastard," I hissed. "You drive right over me, take me to your vile friend's apartment, and now you have the audacity to call me a prostitute?!"
"That accident really must have fucked up your head," Kyo stood up, and it was only then that I noticed he wasn't much taller then me. "You were the one who just jumped in front of us, and it was you who didn't want us to take you to the hospital, and then it was you," He poked my head with his index finger, "who blamed us for going through your worthless shit!"
I was about to retaliate when Toshiya spoke. "Die, Kyo, give her a break," He looked at me with an enigmatic expression. "Fifteen days alone on the streets could make anyone irritable," He smiled, but it was so quick that I barely caught it.
Die sighed. "Right, sorry," But he didn't mean it, I could tell.
Kyo just looked me up and down, then went back to sit beside Shinya, who was staring unusually hard at the T.V. He seemed discomposed by the little argument me, Kyo and Die had just had.
I sighed, grabbed my bag, and dragged it over to a corner. I sat down on the soft, impeccably white carpet that lined the room, and began rummaging through my things. I had some random objects in the bag, things that I kept close to my heart.
"Should we call your parents or something?" Toshiya asked.
"Why?" I asked slowly.
"What are you, sixteen, seventeen?" He said. "Your parents might want you home,"
I stared at him with a blank look on my face. "I'm twenty-one next month, my parents live in America," I said, widemouthed. An aftershock of pain flew through my middle rapidly, causing me to wince and my face to contort with agony.
Toshiya didn't seem to notice. He just seemed a little dumb-founded. "Oh, you look so… I didn't know…" He just changed the subject. "So, what do we do with you?" He asked.
"Whatever," I turned my head away from him coldly, still sitting cross-legged in the corner.
"We could just put her out on the streets," Die was glaring at me. I could feel the heat of his stare and my ears began to burn with a strange mix of hurt and spite.
"Die," Toshiya's voice grew a little softer as he addressed the guitarist.
"We can't keep her like she's our pet," Kyo said. I knew that he was right.
"Kyo's right," I spoke my mind, mildly shocking everyone in the room when I agreed with him. "I have no right to demand that of you. You should just let me back onto the streets. It's not what I want, but that's what's right," I sighed.
"You were just in a car accident," Shinya pointed out. It was my turn to be mildly shocked by his speaking. "I can tell you're still hurt, and you shouldn't be wandering the streets of Tokyo all alone,"
I pursed my lips. "I can't stay with you," I spoke quietly all of a sudden. "I don't even know you,"
"You don't understand, do you?" Toshiya began to sound annoyed as well. "We are trying to be nice to you, we care," He forced the word 'care' out of his mouth like it was poison. "And I know for a face that you don't want to live on the streets. You probably just feel awkward about this situation, am I right?"
I cast my eyes down, making them even more hidden beneath my dark bangs, and bit my upper lip with my bottom teeth, which isn't a very graceful picture.
"I'll take that as a yes," Toshiya sounded rather satisfied with himself.
"But don’t you feel awkward with a stranger in your home?" I asked Shinya, my voice still a little on the soft side.
"Well, yes," He answered, his tone of voice matching mine. "But I do feel very bad for you," I was taken aback by his comment, but decided not to push it.
"If you don’t want me here, I'll just go somewhere else," I said.
Shinya shook his head, but I could tell he was very uneasy about the situation.
