Sometimes I feel I’ve got to
Run away
I’ve got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the heart of me
You find that song entering your head as you go harder and faster on the Harley. The last few months have been complete hell and you’ve felt yourself crawl back into your shell. Why even try anymore when he’s already cost you everything? He wanted you to be lonely, He wanted you to be miserable seems he got everything he wanted.
You had just run off and left everything behind. Sure maybe by running off you were just avoiding things but there’s no way you could handle dealing with the mess he had created out of your life. You had pissed off a few people, burnt some bridges along the way but what did it matter anymore. Tears began to fall again as you cursed yourself to death. You promised yourself you wouldn’t cry anymore. You feel the rain begin to hit your back so you decide to head back.
You turn the bike around and head back into the city. You pull back into the parking garage of the apartment you rented. Joe, the parking attendant was there sweeping up a big old mess in the garage.
“Told you it was going to rain didn’t I?” He ask with a laugh.
“Yes you did, smart ass.” You reply with a laugh.
“Now that is a beautiful bike.” You hear a voice from behind you say.
You turn around and see another guy has joined you and Joe in the garage.
“Hey Gerry how’s it going?” Joe asks.
“Not to bad, not to bad at all. Actually was coming down to see if you had someplace to keep my bikes.” Gerry replied.
“Oh where are my manners Sam, this is Gerard Butler. Gerry, this is Samantha McWithy.” Joe said with a laugh.
“Ah an Irish lass. Pleasure to meet you.” Gerry says taking your hand and bringing it to his lips.
“Pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Butler.” You reply.
“Ah please just call me Gerry. Mr. Butler sounds so formal.” Gerry says with a laugh.
“Well if you boys will excuse me I need to head upstairs.” You state.
Gerry looks at you kind of funny as you walk by and head over to the elevator.
“She doesn’t have a clue who I am, does she?” Gerry asks in surprise.
“I guess she’s not a movie watcher.” Joe replies laughing .
Gerry laughs and runs to try to catch up with you.
“Samantha, wait up a minute.” He calls after he finally catches up with you.
You turn around as he stands there completely out of breath.
“You know you really should stop smoking. Might be able to run without wheezing like that.” You say sarcastically.
“You really have no idea who I am do you?” He asks.
“I know who you are. You’re Gerard Butler. I’m not suffering from any short term memory loss or anything.” You reply with a laugh.
“But you don’t know what I do for a living right?” He asked slowly.
“Well no I don’t believe that came up in the conversation.” You say starting to walk towards the elevator.
“I’m a movie star.” Gerry states as he starts to follow you.
“Really? Hmm I really don’t watch movies. Too much violence these days.” You reply.
“So what do you do for fun? I thought maybe we could go out for coffee sometime. ” Gerry asks.
You push the button on the elevator and quickly the doors open.
“That’s nice but let me give you some advice. See I’m pretty much damaged goods here. It would be in your best interests to forget you even met me. I only bring destruction to other people’s lives. Save yourself Mr. Butler save yourself while you can.” You say as the doors close between you and Gerry.
Gerry stood there in shock. He was used to getting what he wanted and well this time he wanted you. He started thinking as he headed back to the garage how such a beautiful woman could think so little of herself.
“Okay Joe, I need the whole story on Miss McWithy.” Gerry said as he walked into the small office area.
“Gerry, you might as well give it up, buddy. You’re not going to get anywhere with Sam.” Joe says with a laugh.
“I can’t. I just felt something when I saw her. So did someone hurt her or something? “ Gerry asks.
“That’s the understatement of the year. I can’t believe you haven’t heard the whispers about her here in the building. Her ex boyfriend killed her fiancé and then tried to kill her before he turned the gun on himself. Sam blamed herself and left her home to live here. She pretty much just sits around here unless she’s out riding her bike. I think I’m one of the few people she actually has ever talked to around here.“Joe explains.
“I don’t know what to say. I still would like to get to know her though. Sounds like she could use a friend or two. So no one visits her or anything?” Gerry asks.
“No she has a few female friends that visit on occasion. Strange bunch they are." Joe states.
"So how often does she ride?” Gerry inquired.
“Oh she’s down here every day at just about the same time.” Joe replies.
“Good. Can you put my bike near hers?” Gerry asks.
“Ah man, you are still going to try it? Hope you are prepared for a bumpy ride.” Joe says.
Upstairs you make it to your apartment and throw your helmet across the room. Why did he have to be so charming and so attractive? Why? You hadn’t been attracted to anyone since..oh god help me. Had enough time passed? Could you really love someone again?
