Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know the members of HIM. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: Not really sure if I'll ever write a sequal but I REALLY REALLY want to. I actually don't know what the hell I wanna do with it. Oh well. Got ideas for a scene? Review and tell me!!! (Again, this was written before Bam and Jenn Rivell broke up.) and of course usual disclaimer, I don't own anyone and this is fiction.
Bam gulped down his champagne quickly and looked around. He didn't have much time to wonder where his best friend was, because he felt a pair of thin arms slink around his waist.
"Hey baby, what's up?"
"Wondering where Ville disappeared to."
"Ah, who knows?" Jenn kissed Bam softly. "I'm sure he'll show up soon."
Bam smiled at his fiancée and ran a hand through her hair softly. "I know."
Jenn fingered the ring on her left hand and smiled. "I can't believe we're getting married, Bam."
"Me either...ow!" Bam rubbed his shoulder because Jenn hit him. "What?!"
"You're the one who proposed to me."
"I know, I'm just kidding." Bam smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "Hows about we go get some more champagne?"
Jenn grinned. "Sounds good to me."
Unbeknownst to everyone, Ville had slunk away from the engagement party and locked himself in Bam's room. It was like Bam had ripped his heart out of his chest. Just yesterday Bam and him were sitting in this very room, lying on their backs looking at the ceiling. Smiling, drunk as fuck, and having a great time. Bam had taken Ville's hand in his for a moment.
"Ville...you're my best friend, you know that right?"
"Of course I do. How could I forget?" Ville reached over and pushed Bam's beanie down over his eyes with a smile. Bam pushed it back up, his beautiful blue eyes shining.
"Since you're my best friend, I wanted you to be the first to know."
"The first to know what?" Ville hoped Bam couldn't hear how loudly his heart was beating.
"I decided that I'm going to ask Jenn to marry me."
Ville just stared at the ceiling.
"Vil?"
"Really?" Ville said, not having to pretend to be shocked.
"Yeah, yeah. I mean...we love each other. And we're just ready to do that. And I know it will make her so happy."
"I can't believe it, Bam."
"Well believe it." Bam sat up and smiled, taking his hand from Ville's and moving to flip over on his stomach. "I already have a whole bunch of shit planned for tomorrow. We're going to surprise everyone. That's why I invited you to West Chester last weekend."
"Wow." Ville's throat felt dry and he couldn't say anything. He looked over and saw Bam yawning and smiling at him. Bam curled up into a little ball and kept rambling on until he had fallen asleep. Ville lay there, feeling like he couldn't move. He could only wonder what to do. He had spent over a year hiding the fact that he was head-over-heels in love with Bam. But obviously, everything was pointless now. So all he had now was a wasted year of his life and a broken heart. And Bam had a beautiful new fiancée.
Ville felt tears begin to roll down his face as he thought of the day before. He clutched one of Bam's shirts in his arms and becoming so distraught, began to mutter to himself in Finnish.
"...Minä rakastan Sinua, Bam Margera..."
He jumped when he heard a voice reply at the door. Except the reply was in Finnish as well.
"You love him?" Migé's voice asked from the other side of the door. Ville heard the door handle turn, and he knew it wouldn't open.
"Ville, let me in, please."
"Why?"
"Because I want to know what's wrong."
Ville sighed and tried to wipe his running eyeliner off his face to no avail. He unlocked the door for Migé and let him in.
"Ville...why didn't you tell anyone? You know you could come to me if you needed to." Migé continued to speak in Finnish so no one (apart from the other members of HIM) would understand if they happened to walk by.
Ville tried to talk, but only ended up choking on his words. "I don't...know...god, fuck. I don't know what to do anymore."
Migé pulled Ville into a hug. He hated to see his best friend like this. He hated to see the strong, confident man he knew turn into this over some heartless kid.
"You love him?" Migé asked, softly.
"I love him with all of myself...more then I ever loved anyone. More then I loved Susanna. More then I loved Jonna."
"Wow...that's..."
Ville looked up into Migé's face, his eyes pleading, his face stained with his dark eyeliner. “Why do things like this always happen to me…?”
Migé hugged him tighter and sighed. “I don’t know Ville. I just don’t.”
The next morning, Bam searched the whole house for Ville and couldn’t find him. And it seemed as if all the members of HIM were glaring at him constantly. And whenever he walked in the room, they would just stop talking. Even though they were speaking in Finnish and Bam understood practically none of it.
“Look you guys…I want to know where Ville is.” he finally asked them.
“We don’t know.” Burton said, quietly.
“He wasn’t here when we woke up.” Linde frowned.
Migé crossed his arms and sat back in his chair, mumbling to himself.
“What?” Bam whined. “What the hell is your problem?”
“Nothing. Nothing at all.”
“Yeah, whatever. What did you just say?”
“I said, it’s not like you care where he is anyway.” Migé looked away.
Bam was about to speak when April burst in the room. “Boys, the van from the airport is here.” She ran over to hug each one of them. “Have a safe trip back to Finland.” They hugged her back and pushed their way past Bam to leave.
Bam stood in the room in shock, leaning against the wall. He slowly slid to the floor. “What the fuck did I do that was so horrible?”
Bam didn’t even have time to worry in the months that followed. He was so busy. He had skate demos to go to, a show to film, a wedding to plan. He knew he couldn’t leave his wedding up to Ape and Jenn. Everything would be flowers and Laura Ashley and…God knows what the hell those women would do. So he knew he couldn’t have that.
But when he lie in bed at night, even though Jenn was sleeping at his side, he couldn’t help but think of Ville. No matter how distracted he was during the day, he couldn’t escape his thoughts. He hadn’t spoken to or heard from Ville since the day of the engagement party. Not to mention, no matter how many messages he left, Ville didn’t return his calls. Neither did the other members of HIM. It was obvious they were pissed off at him, but for fuck’s sake, he couldn’t figure what he could have done to piss off a whole fucking band.
As the wedding drew closer and closer, Bam kept trying desperately to call Ville or contact him through friends. He wanted Ville to be his best man. But now apparently, Ville had even gotten his cell number changed…That really hurt Bam. That his best friend just didn’t want to talk to him anymore. Finally he had gotten to talk to Linde. Linde was sick and tired of Bam calling his house and leaving messages, that he called him back.
“Hello?”
“Bam? This is Linde.”
“Oh fuck. Linde, hi. I’ve been trying to--”
“I know, okay? I’ve been listening to your annoying messages for weeks now.”
“Well, what the hell else am I supposed to do? I can’t get away from West Chester to fly to Finland to find you guys myself. What made you call now?
“Look, Bam who cares why I’m calling. Just be happy I called. Now you want to know where Ville is, right?”
“Yeah, I want--”
“He needs time. He needs to think. And what he doesn’t need is you bothering him all the time. When he’s ready to talk to you, he’ll call you. So leave us all alone.”
Bam was silent for a second. “So you guys aren’t coming to my wedding, huh?”
Linde sighed. “Goodbye, Bam.”
All Bam heard now was the hollow sound of the dial tone. He didn’t know what to think anymore. But if Ville wanted space, then he was going to get it. But there was something in him that just didn’t want to give up. He couldn’t give up on his best friend. He couldn’t just let him disappear from his life…
But Bam had to accept that none of his friends from the band were going to be there. It was actually the day of the wedding, and he kept looking at the doors, or in the crowd for them. The weirdest thing was, he swore they were there the last time he looked. He peeked again, and sure enough, Linde, Migé, Gas and Burton were there. Ville wasn’t though…
The wedding had already started, so it wasn’t like he could wave at them or run over and ask them where Ville was. He started fidgeting with his suit where he stood. He looked up and saw Jenn walking toward him. She looked beautiful in her dress, but the thing was…his mind wasn’t on his bride…it was on his best friend. His thoughts were filled with questions. He just wished so bad he could find out what he had done that was so wrong. What had he done to drive the only person he felt totally understood him away? He totally blanked out for the next few minutes. Somehow he managed to stumble through the first part of the ceremony without anyone noticing until the minister said:
“If anyone objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
There was a brief silence and the minister was about to go on when suddenly someone burst in the doors in the back and ran halfway down the aisle. The person gasped for air like he had been running for a very long time. Desperate green eyes looked up into Bam’s confused blue ones. It was Ville. His curly long brown hair was a mess around his face. His red shirt (stolen from Bam) was buttoned wrong, and his jeans looked like they hadn’t been washed in ages. To Bam…Ville looked perfect. Ville always looked perfect. Ville looked at Ape and Phil and then at Jenn.
Breathlessly, he whispered two words.
“I object.”
Ville wiped away a few falling tears before leaning on a chair for support and looking at Bam again.
“I love you, Bam Margera.”
