It seemed like the day dragged on. I only wanted to get home and relax with a glass of wine and a good book. I was typing up an order for a client when the loud speaker crackled, “Can everyone please come to the large conference room.” My only thought was ‘crap, what happened now?’ I got up from my cubicle and followed the group. I noticed standing outside of the door was two very large men. They watched everyone entering the room as if they were checking us out.
Our manager stood up in front of the talkative group. “Well, you guys did so well on the Pirates of the Caribbean sales contest, the managers decided to give you guys a very special gift.” The crowd at the conference table cheered for the well-deserved surprise. “We will be having a party tonight at ‘Icing’ and two special guests will be joining us. We felt that these guests would know what it is like to be a pirate.” I laughed to myself knowing that someone in the company would be dressed as pirates, probably ‘Jack Sparrow.’ The door slowly opened and the crowd of people went nuts. Everyone scrambled for the two approaching guests. I could not see who it was and I was curious to know who was causing such a stir. I could not believe it … Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp were standing there. I then heard a familiar voice. “Kat?”
The crowd turned and looked at me in shock. “Orlando?” The crowd parted in astonishment as he made his way over to me. He grabbed me and spun me around. As he put me down on the ground, I felt eyes on me. “I did not know you worked here?” I looked at his beautiful charming face. “I told you last time we talked, Orli. I cannot believe you are here.” He grabbed and hugged me again. We then, both, felt the intensity from everyone in the room. “Well,” my manager continued, “this is surprising.” I pulled from his embrace but he kept a hold of my hand. “Orli and I meet over the net a few months ago. This is actually the first time we have met in person. Ok, everyone breathe now.”
Everyone calmed down and the manager explained that the party would start at 7p. The crowd began to leave the area but still kept their eyes on me and Orlando, who remained ever close. He pulled me over to Johnny. “Hey man … this is Kat.” I smiled as Johnny held out his hand. “Kitty Kat! Wow! What a small world. I have heard so much about you.” I smiled at the comment that Orlando was talking about me. “I hope it is not all bad!” Johnny winked at me, “According to OB here, you walk on water. It is nice to see you are real.
