TABULA RASA: Fall Out Boy and More
Denouncement thing: No, I don’t own Fall Out Boy. If I owned them, I would be very very happy right now and too busy to be writing a dumb story that probably sucks anyway. Beware my first attempt at a band fanfic.
England. The boys had never been that far away from home, at least not in a long time. The weather was nice enough, cool and with a fresh breeze blowing through the open windows of the slow moving RV.
Slow was one word for it. Andy was distracted as usual, patting out the rhythm of some abstract 80s tune that was busy playing in his head. Patrick was humming in a corner, not exactly paying attention to anything at all but his own sound. At least the day was nice enough but they were all getting restless. They had all been on the road the entire day and had given a big benefit concert the night before.
Tuesday was in a corner nearby Patrick who was still humming listlessly. She was busy giggling at some line in A Midsummer night’s dream, a play she had been reading yet again during the tour. And in still another part of the RV was Jade Mrotek, in between her brother fondly named the Butcher and her current lover Sisky, sneaking mischievous glances at each other.
But Tuesday was the one to look up even before the tire went out, the sound of the pop echoing throughout the eerily quiet woods. She felt something, though she wasn’t sure exactly what it was. She looked up and around, getting up from her normal place and Patrick followed her curiously.
“Great, a flat tire. Just what we needed. I thought I was going to die from my own boredom and now we’re having problems.” Brendon piped up from his place on the couch where he was watching 300 yet again. “I hope somebody packed an extra tire.” he said, sarcasm dripping in his tired voice as he got up to look as well.
Most of the band members were wandering out of the RV but Tuesday was still looking out the window with Patrick over her shoulder. “What’s wrong?” He asked. Sometimes even he couldn’t understand her moods as much as he loved them.
“I dunno.” She shrugged, eyeing the outside area. Woods from right to left. Some short cut. She felt like they were in a bad Scooby Doo re run when Spencer had suggested a short cut as they were all tired of the transport. And of course not a gas station in sight. “Just something weird, that’s all. It’s probably nothing. Don’t worry.” She said with a small smile though she wasn’t very assured by her own doubts about the whole thing. Maybe she was just paranoid and tired. She hoped that was it but the feeling kept itching at her, a tick in her system that wouldn’t go away.
“I hope so. I hate flat tires… in bad short cuts.” Patrick teased, looking out the window as he placed a hand lightly on her shoulder. “Come on. I think we’re going to check it out. Anybody up for a bad Blair Witch pun?”
Tuesday elbowed him playfully and followed despite gazing out the window again. She could have sworn she saw something move but she kept going anyway. She’d probably seen too many corny B horror movies to keep up with things. She just hadn’t had enough sleep being on an RV and all. That had to be it. Though Patrick was helping her out with feeling much better about the whole situation.
Jade and Sisky however were already outside, teasing Spencer about his bad choice of short cuts and blaming on flat tire mo jo. The Butcher was close behind, curiously looking around at the road and the countryside. More interested in the fact that it was getting dark and they had a schedule and a concert to keep. Sure it was a small one but they still needed to be there.
“Please tell me you packed an extra tire like intelligent people do when they go on road trips.” Jade teased, hoping she was only doing that and that they didn’t have to go through getting another tire somewhere.
Spencer frowned, his patience already being pushed from the long enough trip and the directions having been wrong on the short cut. He would have to yell at his friend later. If they ever got out of the woods in the first place. “Yes, of course I did. I swear it was back here and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can. Got any better ideas?” He asked, a little snippy and sighed. “Sorry, I just can’t believe we didn’t get there already. I swear this was the right road.”
“It’s ok, Spence,” said Jade as Sisky looked over her shoulder again, leaning his head a little close. “We all have our moments.” She cast another teasing look at Sisky whose eyebrows raised in interest. “Some more than others.”
“You speak from experience, Jade,” came Sisky’s response as he poked her a little, a gleeful light in his eyes.
“Yeah, you just….keep that to yourself. God, where is Brendon? He’s supposed to help him with this tire. Go look for help or something, some town. There’s got to be some place here.” said the drummer with a shrug. “BRENDON! I can’t change this tire by myself!”
“Oooo, search and rescue. Sounds like a mission for the Scooby gang.” said Sisky with a grin as he moved on from Spencer, pulling Jade gently behind him. “I elect us to be the messengers into the brave new world!” he said dramatically, trying his best to keep her attitude light as he knew he was about ready to crash.
“Not so fast, Sisk,” came another voice from behind the RV. “no way am I letting you two into those woods by yourselves. Not only would it be a fast way to die in a bad horror flick but I don’t trust you and your hormones. Yes, I said you.”
Jade pouted a little, knowing it wouldn’t work on her older brother who could be stern about certain things. Her relationship with Sisky was one of them. “Fine fine fine. Where would this brave new world be without my big brother? And what are you implying? Semi dark woods? Alone on a trek to find mysterious gas stations? That doesn’t mean ANYthing.” She draped an arm around him and he shook his head.
“Yeah, but we get flash lights. It’s back in the RV with us before we even try anything.” the Butcher said, trying to be patient with his sister but still feeling weird about the two together. He knew he was being protective but he was afraid of her getting hurt whether he trusted Sisky or not.
And beyond in the woods watching them, were a pair of bright green eyes masked in the shadows. And a flash of red hair could just barely be seen by anyone who was really looking. But of course no one was.
(I’m so sorry this probably sucked…terribly. As it’s my first band fic. Maybe it’ll get better no idea. If you have any input for help, lemme know and yeah. Characters based off of friends. And yes my character will get in there as well. Hopefully my muse will actually work if anybody wanted to read for once and get something good. Ideas are welcome and if you want a character involved just message me with details and you can be part of Eden.)
