She ran down the hall and into her suite. She was running late. She had to meet her friends at the Black Jack table at midnight and it was already 12:30. She had to get into comfortable clothes though, she didn’t want to stay in her dress all night although some of the other people that were just at the ACM’s kept their dresses on she wanted to be in jeans and a t-shirt. After she changed she ran down back down the hall.
Stepping off the elevator and digging thru her purse the blond rounded the corner as a brunette ran down the hallway and WHAM!! Stuff went flying everywhere.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed.
“No,no my fault. I wasn’t watching where I was going,” the blond explained.
“Hi, I’m Kelly,” Kelly said as she stuck out her hand to shake the blondes.
“I know who you are Kelly Clarkson,” the blond gave a little laugh, “I’m Carrie.”
“And I know who you are, Carrie Underwood,” Kelly smiled at Carrie. “Congratulations, on your awards tonight! Two of them! And your performance was beautiful! You had me in tears.”
“Aww, thank you that means a lot. And your performance with Rascal Flatts was amazing! I loved that one!” Carrie exclaimed.
Kelly smiled, “Thanks.” Carrie bent down and starting picking up the contents of her purse that lay on the floor all over the place. “Here let me help you.”
“Thanks. I was looking for my key in my purse when we bumped into each other. I hate these little key card things they should give you a string or something attached to it so if you lose it all you have to do is look for the string. I‘m sorry I‘m rambling. I‘ll just stop now.” Carrie smiled and looked back at Kelly shyly.
Kelly just laughed and said, “Yeah, I know what you mean. I lost a couple.”
“Yeah I’ve lost this key about 5 times within the past two days I’ve been here. AHA! Here it is,” Carrie looked up at Kelly who had the biggest smile on her face. Carrie blushed a little bit and looked back down and grabbed the remaining contents of her purse. Kelly had picked some of Carrie’s stuff up and handed it to her.
“Here you go,” Kelly said. “You have everything?”
“Yeah, thanks again,” Carrie said with a smile.
“You’re welcome,” Kelly said in return. “Well I should get going I was supposed to meet my friends about a half hour ago. I’ll see you around, it was nice meeting you.”
“Yeah nice meeting you too. Have fun with your friends,” Carrie said with a smile. “Bye.”
“Bye,” Kelly replied. They turned and walked in opposite directions Kelly turned back toward Carrie. “Hey Carrie!”
Carrie stopped and turned back to Kelly, “Yeah?”
“Would you like to get a drink…” Kelly paused, “with me?” Kelly looked down at her feet.
Carrie’s face lit up when she smiled and at that very moment her face was glowing, “I’d love to.” Kelly smiled her big cheeky smile. “I want to change first though. I want out of this dress and into what you are wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Do you wanna come in and wait?”
“Sure,” Kelly replied and walked towards Carrie’s door. She stepped inside her room and saw hat it wasn’t much different than hers, but just a lot cleaner. “Your room is a lot cleaner than my room. I have clothes thrown everywhere.”
“Don’t worry normally I would too, but my mom is here and if she decides to pop in and say hi which she normally does than it has to be clean or I get in trouble,” Carrie laughed as did Kelly. Carrie began searching her room for clothes. She gathered her clothes and went into the bathroom. She came out a second later. “This is embarrassing, but can you unzip me? I totally forgot when I put the dress on my mom was there and now I’m stuck.” Carrie smiled and Kelly smiled back. Kelly walked up to Carrie and unzipped her. Kelly took in Carrie’s scent she smelled like vanilla. Kelly’s hand started to shake as she was pulling down the zipper so she zipped it even faster.
“Alrighty, you’re unzipped,” Kelly said nervously.
“Thanks, I should be out in one second,” Carrie said going back into the bathroom. Kelly looked around the room and looked toward the window. She looked out of it and the amazing view before her took her breath away. Carrie came up behind her, “It’s beautiful,” Carrie said making Kelly jump, “sorry,” Carrie said with a tiny giggle.
“It’s ok. You ready to go?” Kelly asked.
“Yep got my key and money I’m not taking my purse once I run out of money I’m done for the night,” Carrie answered.
“I hear ya. I’m the same way. I put a limit on myself. I don’t wanna blow my money.” Carrie opened the door for Kelly and Kelly stepped out into the hall. Carrie closed the door behind her.
“So how late are you for meeting your friends?” Carrie asked.
“Well I was supposed to meet them at midnight and it’s 1 o’clock so only an hour,” Kelly said with a laugh Carrie laughed too. They got the elevator and headed downstairs to the casino/bar area. Kelly spotted her friends and walked over while Carrie hung back behind Kelly
“So you finally decided to show up huh?” Jamie said.
“Yeah well I kinda ran into someone literally and I brought her along,” Kelly said. “Guys this is Carrie, Carrie this is Danny, Jason, Abby, and Anna.”
The table in unison said, “Hey.”
“It’s nice to meet y’all,” Carrie said with a smile.
“Congrats on your awards tonight!” Abby exclaimed.
“Thank you,” Carrie said politely. “I’m going to get something from the bar anyone want anything?” Carrie asked.
“We’re all good,” Jason said, “thanks though!” Carrie walked over to the bar to order her drink.
“Wow, Kelly she’s gorgeous! She single?” Danny asked. The group laughed
“I don’t know ask her,” Kelly said with a laugh.
“No way by I don’t think the words would come out right.” The table laughed and then Carrie came back holding a drink.
“What you get?” Kelly asked.
“Mudslide,” Carrie answered and sat down in the empty chair. “So y’all winning?”
“Ah, up and down for all of us,” Anna said. Kelly smiled at the way Carrie fit right in with her friends. They sat for hour talking and laughing, but they moved from the black jack table to the bar and dance area. Kelly and Carrie got to know one another better and finally Danny had gotten the courage to actually talk to Carrie, but that was after about 2 hours later.
“So Carrie would you like to dance?” Danny asked.
“Sure why not!” Carrie exclaimed. Danny led her out to the dance floor as a slow song came on the rest of the table watched others at the table slowly left and got up to dance. The only one that remained was Kelly. The group danced with each other as Kelly looked on. Carrie saw her alone at the table and excused herself from Danny, Danny kept dancing with some random girl that was next to him. Carrie walked over to the table where Kelly was. Kelly was now watching TV as the bet poll went up and down. She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Carrie standing next to her.
“Dance with me?” Carrie asked as she pulled Kelly up from her chair. Kelly joined the group that was dancing in the center of the floor all laughing and drunk. Carrie never let go of Kelly’s hand as she danced. As it got later the group was getting tired so they decided to call it a night and headed for their rooms. However, Carrie and Kelly still had a lot of energy. So, they decided to hang out in Carrie’s room for a little while and get to know each a little more. The sat on Carrie’s bed
“So, favorite singer?” Kelly asked.
“Martina McBride. You?” Carrie answered then asked.
“Hmm, Reba I like her. Single or taken?”
“Single. You?”
“Single,” Kelly replied with a smile.
“Ok I got one for you…Who would you like to work with?” Carrie asked.
“Wow that’s a tough one cause there are so many people, but I would have to say Janis Joplin. How about you?”
“Umm…Martina McBride,” Carrie answered. The questioning continued for another hour.
“Wow it’s going on 7:30 [A.M.],” Kelly said.
“Wow it’s doesn’t even feel like we’ve been here that long,” Carrie said.
“Time flies when you’re having fun,” Kelly said laughing at her cheesiness. Carrie laughed right along side her. “I’ve had a lot of fun tonight, Carrie. My friends adore you and that is the first time they’ve ever liked any one I’ve brought around them.”
“I like them they’re cool. I’ve had a lot of fun too tonight,” Carrie announced. They were looking at each other as their faces moved closer and closer. Their lips were centimeters apart moving closer and closer so close and at that very moment and big clang ran through the hallway. Both girls jumped away from each other each of them giving a small giggle.
“I think I’ve had a little too much to drink tonight!” Kelly said.
“Yeah me too. Just a little,” Carrie said laughing. Both girls got quiet, and silence became a part of the room, but not an uncomfortable silence but a comfortable one
“I should get going I have to get some sleep since I have some stuff to do today,” Kelly said with a laugh.
“Yeah, I really need to get some sleep I have to do American Idol tonight,” Carrie said.
“Yeah good luck with that have fun,” Kelly said. Kelly got off the bed, Carrie followed. “I’ve had a lot of fun tonight the first time in a while.” Kelly smiled big and Carrie smiled right back.
“Do you have your phone?” Carrie asked.
Kelly looked at and smiled, “Here.” She handed Carrie her phone. Carrie started pushing numbers and handed it back to her.
Before she let go Carrie said, “You have my number now and I want you to call whenever you can or want. Ok?” Carrie asked her eyes pleading. Kelly smiled and took her phone back
“Ok, now give me yours,” Kelly said. Carrie smiled and handed Kelly her phone. “Ok you have my number now and I want you to call whenever you can or want,” Kelly said repeating the same line Carrie had just said. “You also have my email address too. So you can write to me too.” Kelly handed Carrie back her phone and their hands met Carrie kept her hand there for a few moments then took her phone back
Carrie smiled, “Thanks. Do you want mine too I can give you that too.”
“No,” Kelly said Carrie looked down at her feet Kelly lifted her chin and looked Carrie in the eyes. “I’ll get it when you send me an email first.” Carrie’s face lit up again as she smiled. Kelly and Carrie walked to the door so Kelly could head back to her room to get some sleep. Carrie opened the door for her.
“I’ll see you later,” Carrie said with a smile.
“Yep I’ll see you later,” Kelly said returning with a smile. They hugged and as Kelly pulled away Carrie placed a small kiss on her cheek. Kelly walked down the hall to her room looking back she saw Carrie standing there waiting for Kelly to get to her room. When Kelly got to her door she looked back down toward Carrie and waved. Carrie waved back. Kelly got into her room and shut the door. She had a huge smile on her face! Carrie did the same she shut her door with a huge smile! Both girls went to bed and for the first time they both had a peaceful sleep.
