AN/ This is my first posted rps so please be gentle but honest. I need constructive criticism to develop. =)
This is a GacktChacha, ChachaGackt fic, very fluffy so I don’t think that there’s any warning but slash that is needed, possibly also a faint warning for angst. It has not been betad so forgive me for any spelling, grammar mistakes, English is not my first language.
Disclaimer: Nope, I own nothing, nor am I making any money from this, I’m just fooling around.
R&R? And enjoy.
Waiting for the firework.
It was alright to stand back and watch his loved one belong to someone else. It was alright, over and over… To walk home alone, because his heart wasn’t lonely. He knew he was loved, even when it was never shown to him.
Someone had once mused over why it seemed that he stuck by the other no matter what. He hadn’t been able to answer. Not because he hadn’t known, but because he couldn’t explain it to anyone else.
The people around Gackt could be divided in to two groups, the ones that thought they could save him to the point where he would be the one burying them. The other was the ones that accepted the fact that they were going to bury the singer.
The first group was the ones that gave up and left after a while, there was simply no saving to be done. Gackt was who Gackt was, and like a firework he sparkled and burned with more intensity than most, yet, it would be short lived.
The second was the ones that stuck around, the ones that enjoyed the sparkles and danced with it. The ones that enjoyed the ride but knew it wasn’t going to last and hence there was no reason to morn that it would end. It wasn’t fatalistic, it was realistic. They gave as much as they got, but not more.
He himself… He belonged to neither. When asked by one of the second group of people if he thought he would be able to play at Gackt’s funeral, when ever that day should come, he had just smiled and walked away. No, no he wouldn’t be able to play, because he didn’t plan to burry Gackt. Neither did he plan for Gackt to bury him. He would be buried alongside the singer. He was a part of the firework as much as the firework was a part of him and when it ended so would he.
This was why it was alright to stay and watch. To stand and smile when the other flew his crazy turns around the sky, because no matter how many stars in the sky the firework flirted with, the firework still needed it’s fuse more than the stars. It was fine with him to be the other’s fuse, to burn so that the other could sparkle and shine.
Turning down the studio lights he waited for the singer’s arrival and smiled to himself as he tuned his guitar, humming under his breath. It was ok to wait in life, just as he waited now. He knew that whatever meeting it was Gackt had attend would have dragged over and that was why he was, so far, alone in the studio. It was alright to be alone, because he wasn’t really lonely. He knew that his work was appreciated, knew that he had more of the other’s trust and confidence than few others and hence he was fine with waiting.
The door burst open and his smile grew as the other ranted about how stupid people were and he waited. Just another day of waiting, of watching, of smiling and knowing that sooner or later, the wait would end. Standing up he was on his way to the other when the room suddenly spun around him, colors blending into a whirling mass and light flashing all around him. Vaguely he heard his name fall from Gackt’s lips, but all he could do was smile as the world turned black. Maybe he had been wrong all along; maybe Gackt really would be the one to bury him.

Light slowly sipped back into his life again and the pain of waking was almost enough to wish he had stayed asleep. Almost. Because even at this semi conscious state he knew that there was something he was supposed to do before leaving, before falling asleep for good. His eyes opened to an empty, stark white hospital room and once again all he could do was smile. Smile because once again he was waiting but for what he couldn’t really remember.
Someone slid the door open sometime later and he tilted his head as he watched the young woman startle and almost run over to him and push some button by his head. Then there were lots of people around him, touching him, asking him questions, taking his blood and all he did was smile. They were weird, running around like robot ants… The thought of robots made him grin even wider even if he couldn’t say why, but… He liked robots… No, no he liked someone that liked robots… Or maybe he liked someone that was like a robot… It was all so messy in his head he had giggle about it and suddenly there were more strange questions and someone was flashing light into his eyes. It made his smile disappeared and he tried to close his eyes. The strangers talked about possible brain damage but he was perfectly sure that there was nothing wrong with his brain, it was just that they were all so strange. The strange people were gone as soon as they came and suddenly he was scared. There was something he was supposed to do and how could he do that if he was kept here? Frowning he put his tongue between his teeth and poked the button the woman in the white dress had pushed. She appeared in his door soon after and he smiled in triumph.
“Home.” Grinning he hoped that she would let him go but instead she just shook her head.
“Not yet I’m afraid. Soon, you’ll get to go home soon.”
He pouted and crossed his arms over his chest and suddenly he realized that there should be something around his neck that wasn’t there. His panicked eyes snapped back the nurse as his fingers fumbled with the neckline of his clothing.
“Necklace!”
“You want your necklace?”
“Necklace!” Couldn’t she understand that he needed it? That for some reason it was linked to what he was supposed to do before he could sleep.
“I’ll try to find it, just lay down and try to calm down. I’ll go look for it. That’s a
good boy, lay back down and rest.”
Reluctantly he did what she asked but kept his eyes firmly on her. He wanted his necklace because… Because he had gotten it from… From… Frowning his eyes turned from the woman to his hands. He needed to remember who the necklace was from. That was the important thing.
“Gaku…”
“Gackt-san?”
Nodding slowly he looked up at her again and licked his lips. He needed Gackt to get there.
“I... need… him… here.” The words wouldn’t form the way he wanted them too and it annoyed him. The woman smiled and caressed his hair and it was oddly suiting, reminding him of something that had happened a long, long time ago.
“He’s on his way actually, so just you wait and you’ll see him soon, ok?”
Smiling he nodded and she left him again to search for his necklace. He wasn’t sure he really needed it now when he knew who it was he needed, but he still wanted it. Just to feel… Safe maybe?
*
He was giggling at the leafs strange dance outside his window in the dusk light, his fingers playing with the necklace that was once again safely around his neck when the door opened again but this time there was no strange person nor the white dressed woman. Instead there was a tall man that looked out of breath. His smile grew impossibly wide at the sight of him.
“Gaku.”
“Chacha…”
Touching his bed he hoped that the other would come and sit with him because he couldn’t find the words to communicate what he wanted. It seemed that Gackt understood and suddenly he was wrapped in the other’s arms and he felt his smile grew soft and his own arms wrapped around the taller.
“Chacha… Don’t scare me like this again. I thought you would die… Don’t leave me.”
Why would Gackt say something like that? Didn’t he know that he would always be beside him? Oh… That was what he was supposed to do, was it not? Feeling a strange calm fill him he pulled back, looked at the other and suddenly words were not so difficult anymore, yet he did not even dare to hope that the other would comprehend what he was saying.
“Gackt… Sorry. You… sparkle… alone.”
“No. No, no don’t talk like that. You’re awake now, you’ll be fine.”
Always so stubborn… That was why he loved him though, why he had followed him for so long. Why he had been content with waiting.
“Shush… Gackt… Know… I… love… you.”
“And I love you so you can’t leave me! You can’t! Who am I to turn to if you go?”
Smiling he shook his head and then did the thing he needed to do, he kissed Gackt and when his eyes closed as their lips caressed each other everything was alright. The strong arms around him tightened their hold and when their lips left each other again Gackt was staring at him in such an amazing way he didn’t even know what to think.
“You have to stay Chacha, promise me you’ll stay.”
Biting his lips he nodded slowly. He wanted to go home and home was where ever Gackt was.
“I… stay…”

A year since the stroke had rendered him in hospital. A year of so many things happening that he couldn’t even keep track of them all, and now he was here again. He was about to enter the stage again, together with the man that like robots and the man he needed to stay alive. Together they would create a show few would forget, together they could do anything, even cheating death. Stepping into the spot light his heart fluttered with pure happiness at the feeling of flying again. Of sparkling and burning and being alive. Of being part of this wild ride that was just as much done by the musicians on stage as it was by the fans on the floor. Glancing to his side he caught the eye of the singer still hidden in darkness and his smile grew even more. He didn’t have to wait and watch anymore.
The fireworks had, in the end, been as unable to remain sparkling as the fuse would have been unable to burn without its partner. The stars were, after all, much brighter the closer to them you got.
