Sam: I’d laid in my bed at the hotel thinking over what James had told me for what must’ve been the thousandth time. I couldn’t help but feel as though I’d over-reacted. The guy had told me that he loves me and I’d acted like a complete arsehole by not talking to him, not even looking at him. I can’t imagine how I must’ve made him feel. I’d have to talk to him, sort things out between us. But what was I going to say? I didn’t know how I felt towards him. Before he’d told me, I just thought we were the good friends that we’d always been. After he’d told me, though, I wasn’t too sure. I loved him, but I didn’t know how far that love went. Was it just a love like how anyone loves their closest friend, or was it more? I rubbed my hands over my face, trying to get my mind together. What would happen if we didn’t sort this out? Would one of us leave Asking Alexandria? I’d most probably be me who’d leave – I’m the one who’s causing the problems, after all. No. I can’t just stay here, locking myself away, feeling sorry for myself. I needed to talk to James – make sure he’s alright. I got up and walked out of the hotel room into the corridor. I headed straight for James’ door and was about to knock, but hesitated. All of the thoughts from before washed through my brain again. I shook myself mentally and pushed the thoughts back to the back of my mind. Once again, I prepared to knock when I heard a door open behind me. I turned to see Ben, who noticed me the same time that I noticed him. Danny must’ve told him about what had happened between me and James because he smiled encouragingly at me instead of asking me what the hell I was doing. I knocked at James’ door and glanced once more at Ben to see where he was going. I was expecting him to head for Danny’s room, but instead he headed for the vending machine at the end of the corridor. James answered the door almost immediately. His eyes widened when he saw me and he was about to speak, but I pushed straight past him into his room. He didn’t argue about my actions, he just shut the door behind me and sat himself down on the chest of drawers. I sat down on the bed and sighed. “We need to talk, James,” I said, not looking him in the eye. “Yeah. We do.” “I bet you think I’m a right arsehole for acting the way I have after… well, about this.” “Just a bit,” he snorted. “Look. I’m sorry, but –“ “But you don’t love me,” he finished. I looked up at him. “I didn’t say that.” “So, you do love me?” “I don’t know! I’m confused! I thought that what we had was just a good friendship, but then you go and plonk that bombshell on me and now my mind’s everywhere!” I don’t know why I’d started shouting, but I immediately felt bad about it afterwards. “I’m sorry. I’m just…” I waved my hands around my head to show that my mind was muddled up. James nodded. “So you don’t know where you are with this?” I shook my head. “Well, maybe this’ll help.” He came over to me so fast that I didn’t have time to react, and pressed his lips to mine. The kiss was over faster than it had begun and James looked me in the eye for the first time since I’d entered the room. “Does that make it any easier?” he asked, looking quite cautious of what to expect of my reaction. I sat in shock for a while before my body took over my mind and I grabbed James’ neck, pressing our lips together again.
