IMPORTANT!!!!!!: this is the timeframe for this story…I forgot to put it up last chapter. Anyway, I know I said that Haile went to see Shrek 2 and that came out in June, well, in this story it came out on May 1. The Chronicles of Riddick premiere will be on June 3 and Harry Potter will be June 5. The MTV Movie Awards will not be on the right day either. That will happen later on in the month because I have something I want to do there that has not yet been set up.
I don’t know what happened at these events so I’m gonna map evp everything. ^_^
Anyway, so the date that this chapter starts on is June 1, 2004. So I hope all of you read thote ote or you may be confused. If you have any questions just ask. Enjoy the chapter!
LAST TIME:
“Well, then it’s only fair that we invite the both of you to the MTV Movie Awards next month.” Marshall said.
“That sounds cool. We’ve never been to an MTV Award show before. Can’t wait.” Arerell said smiling.
Chapter Ten:
Three weeks. Three weeks since the day Tai and Marshall met at the ball field. They had gotten closer. Even decided to recognize the relationship and say they were boyfriend and girlfriend.
Arerell had moved back into the apartment she had shared with Tai before she went to England for her art tour.
Tai sometimes slept over at Marshall’s but she stayed mostly at the apartment with Arerell and the dogs. pan>pan>But she went over to his house every night to sing.
Arerell and Curtis had started dating too so sometimes she stayed over at his place.
Tai and Arerell didn’t get into any more fights for the rest of the May month…much to their displeasure.
The girls also had their first summer tournament coming up on June 12^th. They couldn’t wait.
May 31^st just happened to be one of the nights that Tai had slept over at Marshall’s place. At the moment she was exploring the house while he was talking to D-12. They had come over around ten in the morning and had been there for an hour discussing the upcoming album.
Tai came to the last door on the first floor. It was open part of the way so she stepped inside.
The room was bare except for a large white grand piano sitting in the middle of the room.
Tai closed the door and then walked up to the piano. She sat down at the bencd rad ran her left hand across the white keys, but not pressing them down.
She had always loved the piano but hadn’t gotten to play in a while.

Marshall shut the front door after the guys lefd thd then started to walk into the kitchen. As he passed the hallway he heard someone playing on the piano down at the end of the hall. He went to check it out.
Marshall opened the door quietly and peeked inside. It was Tai.
He frowned slightly, “I didn’t know you could play.”
Tai stood quickly from the bench and turned around to face Marshall. Her face turned slightly red.
“We’ve been together for three weeks and you’ve never mentioned it…why?” He asked walking into the room to stand in front of her.
“I don’t tell many people.” She said softly.
“Why? You play really good.” He stated.
Tai bit her lip and looked over to the right. “Because then they ask where I learned to play and then when I tell them they make such a big deal of of it.”
“So tell me.” He said.
Tai sighed and then looked back at Marshall. “I can play by ear.”
He lifted his brows in surprise. “Really? That’s cool.” s"> He grinned. “Come on. I’m hungry.” He grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the door.
“What? That’s it?” She asked surprised.
“You said you didn’t like it when people made a big deal out of it, so I’m not gonna. It’s just one of the things that makes you more unique.” He shut the door.
Tai grinned and followed him into the kitchen for lunch.

It was now evening and Marshall was in the process of getting Haile packed to stay over at Tai’s mother’s house while they left for Chronicles of Riddick premiere in Universal Studios in Hollywood the next day. Over the past month Marshall had known Tai, Haile and Tai’s little sister had gotten to be good friends.
“There.” He said closing the bag full of the things Haile wanted to take with her.
“All done?”
He turned to see Tai and Arerell standing in the doorway. “How long have you both been standing there?”
“About five minutes.” Tai said with a grin.
“And you didn’t offer to help?” He asked slightly annoyed.
“No.” Tai said.
Marshall shook his head and rolled his eyes. “Thanks.” He muttered.
Tai and Arerell laughed and went downstairs.
Marshall followed behind them with the bag slung over his shoulder.
“Are you ready Haile?” He asked when he reached the den. Haile was sitting on the black leather couch with Curtis.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Haile said jumping up off the couch and running out the door to the car.
Tai laughed and followed behind her.
Marshall looked at Curtis and Arerell. “You two sure you have all your shit packed?”
Arerell rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. “For fucks sakes Marshall. Get a grip will ya?” She laughed. “You’re gonna get yourself all out of sorts, you will.”
Marshall scowled when Curtis laughed too.
“She’s right ya know Marsh. Just go before yer girl takes the kid to the house without ya.” Curtis said.
Marshall was about to reply when the horn of his R32 sounded. “Just…”
“Go!” Curtis and Arerell yelled.

Marshall sat down in the drivers’ seat and started the car. He looked in the rearview mirror to see Haile buckled in the middle seat. “Ready kid?”
“Yes dad. Let’s go!”
He chuckled and drove down the driveway.

They pulled into Taiarenarent’s house twenty minutes later and got out of the car.
Haile ran to the door with her bag and went inside.
Marshall and Tai laughed as they got out of the car to follow her.
Tai grabbed his hand as they walked through the white door. “Dad? Mom?”
“Tai! Marshall, it’s good to see you two.” Tai’s dad, Derek Clarkson, said to them.
Tai grinned and let go of Marshall hand to hug her father. “Where’s mom?” She asked grinning.
Only Marshall caught the slight drop in her father’s smile.
“She’s upstairs resting. Got the flu I’m afraid.” He said.
“Oh, is it ok for Haile to be here then?” Tai asked stepping back to let Marshall shake her father’s hand.
“It’ll be fine. We’ll just keep the kids downstairs in the playroom as much as we can. Kayla invited a couple of her friends over, so they can have a sleepover. You guys gonna stick around for a bit? Your brother and Joe are here. They’re in the kitchen.”
“Really?” Tai asked excitedly and then ran into the kitchen.
“Guess I should follow.” Marshall stated with a roll of his eyes.
Derek laughed and patted him on the back.

When Marshall and Derek entered the kitchen they found a laughing Tai and Rick.
Rick—Tai’s older brother—is thirty, 6’4, big muscled build, green eyes, and buzzed brown hair.
“What’s so funny?” Marshall asked folding his arms across his chest.
“Oh, it’s nothing really. You had to be there.” Tai explained waving her hands in the air.
“Would you like a drink Marshall?” Rick asked, pouring himself a glass of tea.
“Yeah, sure.” Marshall said with a shrug. He took the offered glass from Rick’s hand. “Thanks.”
Rick nodded and poured another glass for his dad.
“Where’s Joe?” Derek asked.
“I’m right here Derek.” A deep gravely voice sounded.
Marshall turned his head toward the man. He was as tall as Rick, had a large build, blue eyes, and shaggy black hair.
Marshall choked on his tea when Joe walked up to Rick and kissed him full on the mouth.
“Marshall!” Tai yelled, pounding Marshall on the back. “Are you ok?”
Marshall nodded slightly. “Went down the wrong pipe.” He said in a strained voice. Marshall looked at Joe and Rick with watery eyes. He never woulda guessed they were gay.
“I’m Joe.”
Marshall shook Joe’s hand. “Marshall.”
Joe laughed. “I know.” He shook his head. “But only because Tai talks about you all the time!”
Tai just smiled when Marshall looked in her direction.
Marshall and Tai stayed for a half an hour talking in the kitchen but then decided it was time to go and make sure all the last minuet stuff was finished before they left for the airport. Marshall and Tai said goodbye to Haile after they finished up in the kitchen.
He and Tai were in the driveway with Rick and Joe.
“Are you guys going to the Harry Potter Premiere?” Tai asked opening the car door.
“Yeah, I think we’ll go to that.” Rick said sliding an arm around Joe’s waist.
“Cool. We’ll see you there then. It was good seeing you again Joe. Bye guys.” Tai got in the car.
“It was nice meeting you Joe and it was good to see you again Rick.” Marshall said goodbye and then got in the drivers seat.
Marshall pulled out of the driveway and started down the road back to his house.
It was quiet for a moment before Marshall asked the question that had been on his mind for the past thirty minutes.
“Why didn’t you tell me Rick was gay?”
Tai burst out laughing. When she calmed down some she spoke. “Oh Marshall. I did tell you.”
He gave her a clueless look. “I think something like that would stick out in my mind.” He said wryly.
“It was two weeks ago. Remember? It was…a Saturday morning I think. We were laying on the hammock you got out in the backyard. Anyway, we somehow got on the topic of our families and I told you about mine.”

Flashback
“Tell me about your family Tai.” Marshall said quietly. He and Tai were laying on the hammock outback under one of the trees. Tai was cuddled against his chest and he was running his hand through her loose hair. “What was it like to grow up in a loving family?”
Tai sighed. She felt bad for Marshall, but decided against saying anything that Marshall could take as pity.
“My family. I have a ten-year-old sister named Kara…she’s a devil in disguise. Then there are the twins: Rick and Dana. Both thirty years old. Dana is a model and Rick is a writer.” She lifted up slightly to look at Marshall. He had his eyes closed. “Rick’s gay.”
Marshall’s eyes flew open. “Really?” He asked incredulously.
“Yeah.” Tai said with a grin and lay her head back on his chest. “That’s not a problem is it?” She teased.
“Contrary to popular belief—” He started.
“Very popular.”
Marshall continued as if he didn’t hear her. “I don’t mind gay people. As a matter of fact…I happen to think two women together is very sexy.”
Tai burst out laughing and after a second he joined in.
After they had calmed down Marshall asked about her parents.
“realreally close to my mom. We talk about everything.”
“Everything?” Marshall asked.
“Everything.” You could hear the grin in her voice.
“Oh.” Marshall said quietly.
Tai laughed. “Yeah, ‘oh’.”
“Yo Marsh! Get your skinny white ass inside. We got work to do!” Proof yelled from the deck.
“Fuck you Proof! I’ll be there in a second!” Marshall yelled back.

“Do you remember?” Tai asked smiling.
“Ah, yeah.” He said distractedly.

Tai rolled her eyes. “I’m gonna ask you again Marshall, and be honest. Does it bother you?”
Marshall pulled up in the driveway and parked. He turned to look at her. “No.” He said quietly. “I have no problems with your brother being gay Tai.”
Tai stared into his eyes a moment longer and then nodded her head. “Ok.” She leaned in for a kiss and then got out of the car. “Lets go and make sure we have everything ready so we can leave in an hour.”
