“Brandon, I think you have a visitor” Mike said, raising his voice slightly from the front of the bus.
In a few minutes, he finally made his way out of his bunk walking to the main area of the bus.
“Marissa?” he asked, watching the blonde grin widely at him.
“Hi baby!” she squealed, jumping into his arms practically knocking him over.
The last time he spoke to Marissa about her making plans to visit him was a week ago, but she never told him the specific date she would be coming.
“Hi” he chuckled, placing her onto her feet.
“Look, at you!My god! I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too” he smiled.
If it was one thing about Marissa, it was her ability to be virtually upbeat about almost everything, and quite frankly sometimes it overwhelmed those around her.
After putting a few of her things in the back, Brandon left the remainder of luggage in the front secretly wondering how long she intended on staying based on the amount of luggage she carried with her.
“It’s too bad you’re only here for a couple of days” he furtively told her sitting himself next to her.
Somehow she hadn’t quite expected to hear that from him.
“Brandon, can I be honest with you?” she asked resting her head on his shoulder.
“I’d be kind of worried if you haven’t been this entire time.”
She smirked “Well, did you mean what you said?”
“About?”
“It being too bad that I’m only here for a couple days”
“Why wouldn’t I mean it?” Brandon turned his head slightly to look
at her.
“Well, sometimes I just feel like Claire means more to you than I do.” When he didn’t say anything she continued “I get she’s your friend and what not, but sometimes I just feel like the odd one out. I don’t get that feeling only with you either, but with the rest of the guys as well. They treat her like she's one of them.”
Chuckling to himself Brandon asked “Are you sure you’d want them to treat you like ‘one of them' because I can assure you that it’s not always as cool as it seems.”
“You know what I mean Brandon. Seeing them interact-there’s a real friendship there, and with me it’s like they’re just being nice- not that I’m saying they don’t like me, but its just not the same way as Claire…”
“Marissa, you have to understand the fact that they have all known her way before you, so that connection is just there. And as for me,” he paused before continuing “If I wanted Claire as my girlfriend, I would have asked her ages ago. I’m with you, and that’s all there is to it. She isn’t an issue.” he brushed the topic aside.
Marissa loosely listened to Brandon’s statement and couldn’t help but ask “ So you’ve never thought about being with her?”
He glanced in frustration at her, sighing loudly.
“She is a pretty girl, Brandon. I just admitted to being jealous of her sometimes, so now it’s your turn to be truthful”
“Fine." he exhaled knowing she would never let this go
"I have always been a firm believer in if something is meant to happen it will at it’s own time and pace. I've also known Claire for a good 10 years now. I’ve been there through all the physical changes, guys trying to get with her, and just pretty much everything. If I was suppose to be with Claire, it would have happened by now. And being 30, I’m pretty sure, you’re just about the last girlfriend I’m going to have.”
“Brandon!” she gushed, at hearing his last few words “Are you saying we’re going to get married?”
His eyes widened.
That was Marissa, always getting ahead of herself.
“Uh…”
“-Brandon, Kilmore wants to ask you about something”
Instantly jumping to his feet, he kissed her quickly on the cheek telling her he would be right back.
“I love you, man” Brandon whispered gratefully to Mike, quickly leaving the room.

It was now the next day and Claire sat legs crossed in the living area of her loft.
“You been sitting there all day?” Michael asked just getting in.
“Where have you been?”
“Don’t answer a question with a question and I don’t owe you any explanations”
“Then the same applies to you”
She stood to her feet, walking onto the balcony.
Before she could rest her arms properly against the ledge, he grabbed her waist, roughly turning her around and tilting her body ever so adeptly over the ledge with a strong hand placed firmly at her jaw.
“What did I tell you about giving me lip?"
“If you want to fucking push me over, do it already. Death would be better than being with you” she callously spat.
With his jaw clenched, Claire could almost swear that he would do it with the death stare he was sending her way.
She shut her eyes waiting for him to end her life, but moments later she felt his hand pull away from her; leaving her standing by her lonesome.
A feeling of anxiety overwhelmed her seconds later. Not for what just happened, but for her secretly wishing he would have done it.
Finally going back inside, she tried to avoid Michael only to realize he left again.
The vibrating cell phone in her pocket brought her back to her senses.
Lately Claire kept her phone on vibrate instead of allowing it to ring, that way Michael couldn’t harass her with questions as to who was calling.
“Hello?”
“Hey sis, what’s up?”
“Um nothing…”
She sounded distant.
“Isnt there something you want to tell me?”
Claire’s eyes immediately averted to the phone wondering if he found out what had been going this entire time.
By his tone alone she couldn’t tell.
“…What do you mean?”
“Your masters stupid! Did you or didn’t get it?” he asked in anticipation.
“Oh, that. Yeah, I got it today actually.”
“…That’s it?” he questioned after a brief pause.
“What do you want me to say, Chris?”
“I thought you’d be more stoked about this…you worked so hard…” he said in confusion.
“I am happy, I’ve just got stuff on my mind, that’s all”
“Anything you care to tell me about?”
Again with the suspicions…
“Chris, it’s about a client, okay? And you know that I have to keep things confidential.”
“I know, I know” not that it stopped her before.
“I’ve got to go” she abruptly told him “I’ll call you later”
“Okay?”
“I love you, bye”
With that Claire hung up.

She didn't call back.
Actually it was approximately two months later after finishing their first show in Seattle, they all headed back to their tour bus only to realize a female playing the ps3 on the couch.
Mike was the first one to see her.
“Well look who it is…” he chuckled.
Looking up she smiled “Einziger” immediately she stood up giving him a hug.
Moving back wincing lightly, she informed him,
“I Did the whole cardio workout thing before I shipped out here”
“You? exercise? Bullshit” Chris came up from behind “You mean exercising your mouth on food”
“I could give her something to exercise her mouth on” José remarked. “Would you guys move, you’re blocking the way!” he pushed past them.
Claire immediately sucker punched him in the stomach, followed by her grabbing onto his ear asking “Would you like to repeat yourself?”
“Kilmore, tell her to let go!”
“Pull his ear off, C” Chris encouraged.
Letting go she smacked him upside the head “Watch yourself” she warned.
“Shit” he rubbed his ears, “It was only a joke”
“Hey sis” He playfully put her in a head lock, ruffling her hair.
“Chris!” she pulled away bumping into another body.
Turning around presumably expecting Mike, she realized that would have been too easy.
It was Brandon.
She was tall, but he was much taller, and their awkward proximity had her looking at his chest. Slightly craning her neck to meet his gaze, a small ‘Hi’ escaped her lips.
He merely nodded, acknowledging her presence without saying word then walked right by her.
At this point Brandon found himself resenting her, not only because of her terminating they’re friendship, but because he didn’t know why.
He had no answers, as far as he knew she chose Michael over him.
