Ville sat across the table from Davey, leaning back with his feet propped up on it, staring at him. He was thinking, making an occasional comment when it was required of him, but mostly he was thinking.
Davey was talking to Jade animatedly, looking over at Ville every once in a while and smiling as he told a story.
Jade was smiling slightly and nodding. He leaned back against Roxy and held her hand is his, looking content to spend the rest of his life sitting on the porch with Roxy petting his hair in the comfortable love seat.
Frank was sitting in the big wicker chair next to them, laughing at something Jade said. The guitar player’s quite demeanor belied a quick wit with a sarcastic bite.
Ville was wondering how this man, who he no longer denied he was in love with, could possibly be a ruthless hunter of his kind. Three weeks had gone by since he met him and he was in love. He hadn’t felt anything remotely close to love for another man since his beloved Bam had died.
“Ralph? Hey Ralph?” Davey waved his hand in front of Ville’s face when he didn’t respond the first couple of times he called him.
Ville shook himself and decided that next time he got a new name it would be William. It wasn’t his real name, but it was close enough, and not Ralph, “Yes? Sorry. Wandered off.” he smiled sheepishly.
“I can tell.” He grinned at Ville the last couple of weeks had been great. He loved Ville and they spent almost every minute together. Even when Davey was looking for the vampire, Ville went with him.
“Do you want to go with the rest of us to The House of Blues tonight?” Roxy said, rolling her eyes. Ten years and he still didn’t respond to his name.
“Tiger Army is playing.” Davey blushed, “I kind of wanted you to meet Nick.” As in Nick 13, one of his best friends.
Ville smiled, “Of course.” He loved the way Davey smiled at him, sweet, almost shy. Impulsively, he leaned over and kissed him quickly.
Frank made a disgusted sound, “I’m surrounded by people in relationships.” He said the word like most people would say “puss filled infection.”
Ville wrinkled up his face and stuck his tongue out at him, “Yes, well not all of us like to run around hooking up with random people every night.”
Frank feigned shock and gasped, “I think you just called me a slut.”
“Maybe.” He teased.
“Well excuse me for enjoying my youth and not wanting to be tied down like the old timers.” He rolled his eyes and leaned back in the chair, lifting two of the legs off the ground, lighting a cigarette.
Ville’s jaw dropped, “I am not that much older than you!”
Davey watched the exchange amused, and traded glances with Jade.
Roxy pinched Frank, hard, “Enough, children. You’re a whore, we’re boring.”
Jade laughed, “Boring? I don’t think I have been bored since I met you.”
“That’s because you’re fucking her. Trust me, to the rest of us, she’s boring.” Frank pouted.
Jade laughed again, sitting up and wiping his eyes, “No comment.” He gasped out.
Davey chuckled too and decided that he would stay out of this argument.
Ville threw an ashtray at Frank, which he easily caught, “You are such an idiot.”
“You’re petty insults don’t hurt me you Finnish bastard.” Frank stubbed his cigarette out in the ashtray and flicked the butt at Ville.
Ville now had a black streak across his chin. He narrowed his eyes and leaned forward, “New Jersey sucks.”
Frank grabbed his heart and the chair tipped over, spilling him to the deck, “You take that back!”
Roxy, Davey and Jade were laughing to the point of tears. Ville and Frank fought like brothers all the time and it was never less than hilarious.
“No.” he wiped at his chin, smearing the ash, but not getting rid of it.
Frank sat up, glaring at him, “You take that back you European fuck.”
“New Jersey’s dirty and it smells awful, and you’re short!” Ville cried, jumping up just as Frank lunged at him. They crashed into the bushes that surrounded the porch, wrestling.
Roxy winced when she heard a bone snap. They were really going to hurt themselves one of these days. Ville had already tossed Frank though the bay window in the den and they had to do some quick explaining when Frank ran over Ville with his truck without crushing his feet.
“We can stop all this right now if you would just apologize.” Frank said to the back of Ville’s head when he got him in a headlock.
“Not bloody likely!” Ville pried Frank’s arm off his neck and pushed him away, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go take a shower.” He walked into the house winking at Davey. He didn’t turn around when a clod of dirt hit him in the back of the head.
Roxy shook her head and looked at the mess the shrubs had become, “Just once could you two consider keeping the collateral damage to a minimum?”
“Ville started it.” Frank mumbled, righting his chair and throwing himself into it.
Roxy almost gasped, looking quickly to Davey to see if he noticed Frank’s slip.
Davey was to busy trying to think of a plausible excuse to go join his lover in the shower. His phone rang and he jumped up, answering it eagerly and walking into the house, “Hello?”
“You are taking entirely too long to get up here.” Ville’s voice rumbled huskily over the line.
Davey grinned and shut the phone, running up to the bathroom, throwing his clothes on the floor pausing before stepping under the spray, into Ville’s welcoming arms to admire his singing, “You have such a beautiful voice. Reminds me of this band I used to listen to with my parents”
“Yeah, right.” Ville covered Davey’s mouth with his own, playfully tugging at his lip ring, ignoring his comment.
Davey sighed and melted into Ville’s arms. They kissed and caressed under the warm spray, sighs and moans escaping as wet hands slid over wet flesh.
Ville wrapped his fingers around Davey’s cock, stroking it to the rhythm his tongue set in the smaller man’s mouth.
Davey moaned into Ville’s mouth, curling his fingers in his hair, crushing their faces together. He broke away to trail kisses down Ville’s jaw to his neck, nipping lightly, making him shiver before he threw his leg up, over Ville’s hip in invitation.
Pressing Davey against the wall of the shower, Ville lifted him up so he could hook his ankles behind him. He moaned as his cock pressed against Davey’s entrance. Davey pressed his body down, more than ready for Ville to take him. Ville did, slowly, savoring every inch of his lover’s body. They moved together slowly at first, then, as both men came closer to the edge, faster.
Ville almost cried as Davey called out, “Ralph!” when he came. It almost physically hurt that Davey couldn’t call out his actual name.
“I got a new lead on the vampire I’ve been hunting.” Davey said casually as he applied eye shadow at Ville’s vanity.
“Oh?” Ville was lounging on the bed, having taken far less time to throw on jeans and Souxie and the Banshees shirt with a little eyeliner.
Davey looked at his eye makeup critically and brushed on a little more black shadow to even them both out. He stood, brushing off his white tuxedo shirt and hitched up his tight pants, “Yeah. Apparently there’s a house over on Butte that belongs to a man who disappeared a few months ago, but the neighbors have seen someone claiming to be his son coming and going at odd hours of the night.”
“Hmm, could be our guy.” Ville said, making a mental note to tell Roxy about it.
Davey nodded absently and twirled in a circle, “Well?”
“Gorgeous, as always.” Ville stood and kissed him carefully, not wanting to muss all the work that had gone into Davey’s preparations.
Davey smiled quickly and linked their hands, “Ready?”
“I’ve been ready my love. You’re the one that takes hours.” Ville said as they strolled into the hall, running into Roxy.
“So you’ve finally met someone who takes longer to get ready than you do?” she grinned so Davey would know she was only joking, “Good. You deserve it.”
Ville frowned at her, “You’re wearing that?”
She looked down at her pegged jeans, Dr. Marten’s and Flogging Molly shirt that she’d cut so it hung off her shoulders, “What’s wrong with it?”
“Nothing.” He sighed, “You look very punk. Kind of reminds me of the way Jussi used to dress.” He was talking about Jussi 69, the drummer for the band 69 Eyes. They had been great friends before Ville had to fake his death.
Roxy shrugged, “It’s comfortable and I don’t take a tenth of the time getting ready as you peacocks do!” she shoved Ville lightly.
Frank burst out of his room, a whirlwind of black hair and pink hoodie, “I heard someone say ‘cock.’”
Roxy shook her head, “Are we ready to get out of here or what?”
“Ready!” Frank bound down the stairs. Ville suspected he didn’t do anything at less than full speed.
“I’m so glad you get a chance to meet Nick.” Davey whispered as they sat in the back of Roxy’s Vic on their way to Hollywood.
“I can’t wait. He sounds like an interesting guy.” Ville kissed the top of Davey’s hair and continued watching out the window, ignoring Frank’s gagging noises.
Jade heard them and turned up the radio so their friend’s band Viva Hate filled the car, “I wonder if Geoff’s going to be there.” He said out loud.
“Probably not. I haven’t seen him at a Tiger Army show since he started this band.” Davey gestured vaguely, indicating the music, “Besides I think the Horropops are on tour right now.”
“That’s right! I think he said they were heading for Glasgow?” Jade turned in his seat so he was facing Davey.
“Something like that. They’re supposed to be back in the states in a month.”
“Yeah? Oh, Hunter wanted to hang out on Wednesday if you don’t have plans.”
Davey shook his head, “No, nothing going on. What’s going on with him?”
“I don’t know.” Jade shrugged and put his hand in Roxy’s where it was resting on the gearshift.
They finally arrived at the House of Blues and hung out backstage with the guys from Tiger Army. Ville noticed there was a man watching them, but he couldn’t see his face. Wherever they were, the man wasn’t far. All he could see of him though was his jeans and hoodie that had a Clandestine logo across the chest.
He leaned down and whispered in Davey’s ear, “Davey, do you know that man?”
Davey looked to where Ville was pointing and recognized Pete from The Funeral. He flushed and turned around, looking at the ceiling, “I don’t think so.” He led Ville back to where everyone else was standing, away from Pete.
Ville was bothered the whole night and all the way home about the man in the HOB. Davey had lied about knowing him. He looked up a little when lied.
“Hey Ralph!” Frank called, drawing out the name in the mocking tone he always used.
Ville looked up at him from the book he was reading on the sofa in the living room.
When they had arrived home, Jade and Davey had been filled with inspiration for their side project Blaq Audio and had closeted themselves in the Jungle Suite so they could record some stuff. Frank and Roxy were playing Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance in the den.
“What?” he answered tersely.
“Come here! Roxy’s cheating! I need a witness!”
Sighing, Ville set his book down and went into the den where Roxy and Frank were battling for dominance over the interuniversal realms, with full blood turned on, he noticed with a wince as one character ripped another’s spine out, “What the hell do you need from me?”
“The baby over here thinks that I’m cheating because he’s losing.” Roxy put her controller down and flexed her thumbs.
“You are cheating, oh ancient one.” Frank set his controller on the table.
“Ancient?” Roxy looked offended.
“You’re over six hundred. That’s ancient.” Frank said simply and leaned back.
Ville choked back a laugh as Roxy’s face went through several expressions, finally settling on pissed off.
“Ancient is at least a thousand, asshole!” she chucked her controller at his head.
Frank had never seen Roxy get anything other than mildly irritated at him. His surprise at her anger slowed her reactions and the controller bounced right off his forehead, “Ow!” he wiped blood off his face, “What the fuck?”
“You deserved that.” She said, crossing her arms over his chest.
Frank looked to Ville for help.
Ville threw up his hands, “Don’t look at me! I’m staying out of this one.”
Roxy glared at him, “You are not. You’re on my side Ville.”
“No, Ville’s on my side!” Frank said, jumping up to stand behind him, “We’re staging a coup!”
Roxy stood and moved toward them menacingly, “I guess I’ll just quell the uprising by killing you.”
Ville looked worriedly from one to the other until he was sure they were joking, “Perhaps. But we outnumber you!”
As if they’d planned it, Frank and Ville lunged at her, Frank going in low, Ville high. They wrestled her to the ground and sat on her chest and legs. Roxy threw them both off and did her best to throttle Frank. Ville picked her up off of him and threw her on the couch. Frank went after her, but she kicked him off, sending him crashing through the table.
“Damn it!” Roxy yelled as Ville helped Frank out of the wreckage, “Now I’m just as bad as the two of you!”
Frank giggled, falling back into the wood, “Haha! Welcome to club destructo! Ow.” He said casually when he sat up again and a piece of wood was impaled in his back, “A little help Ville?”
“I hope you didn’t like this shirt.” Ville said as he yanked the wood out exposing a ragged hole.
The wound bled and Frank took off his shirt to soak up the blood, “Nah, not really.” He took the shirt away, revealing blood streaked, smooth skin.
“Now I have to go buy a new table.” Roxy sighed.
“What the hell happened in here?” Davey yelled.
He and Jade stood in the doorway, eyes wide, taking in the blood and debris.
“Are you guys ok?” Jade asked, taking a step forward, stopping when his foot crunched on wood.
Frank hastily pressed his shirt to his back again, “Oh yeah, just a scratch. Really no big deal.” He got up and practically ran up to his room.
Davey couldn’t say anything. He knew what he saw, and he knew what he had to do. It broke his heart, because he had really come to like the spastic little guy, but he was evil and had to be taken out. For all Davey knew he was the one killing the people in the town. The only problem he had was weather or not to tell his boyfriend that he was about to cut the head off of one of his best friends.
He shook his head, deciding to think about it later and joined Jade and Ville helping Roxy pick up the shambles that were recently the coffee table.
