Unexpected Arrivals
Chapter 10 Unexpected Arrivals
Raven busied herself setting the table and checking the clock. “He should be landing any time now” she said to herself. She couldn’t believe how nervous she was, “Geeze, get a grip girl, you’d think you’d never been together before” she said aloud. The thought brought a smile to her face that she couldn’t quite get rid off. “Okay,” she said looking around the room, “Everything’s in place, everything is ready, stop pacing, sit down before you get all wrinkled, it won’t be long now….”
The cabin light had just come back on, and the passengers were starting to return to their seats. The attendant was giving the standard “seats in the upright position” speech and Vin was trying to remember whether or not the florist shop at the airport would still be open by the time they landed. Eric was checking his watch, his father would be at the gate to meet him, he hoped his dad would understand that he needed to make a stop before he went to the house. He hadn’t counted on the presence of Mr. Diesel tonight, this was definitely not part of his plan, but he could deal with it, would deal with it. His father would understand. Whenever he called or wrote home he never failed to ask about Raven.
“Yes” he thought, “he has always known where my heart lies, he’ll understand why tonight nothing must come before her.”
As the plane touched down and slowly came to a halt two equally determined men gathered their belongings and headed for the door. Walking down the ramp way to the terminal Vin had an uneasy feeling, and momentarily looked over his shoulder to see who was at his back. No one that he recognized, just a couple of women pointing and giggling, “Fans” he said to himself smiling. He should have looked a little closer, for the tall native man in the dark shades would soon present himself as a force to be reckoned with. . .
