Part 10:
Brian dropped his head and gripped at the bridge of his nose, beginning to feel the annoying pinch of a headache coming on. He had just spent the past few hours trying to explain to his girlfriend that Zack was going to be spending the next couple of weeks living with them. But Michelle wasn’t feeling sympathetic towards the other man at all, in fact, she was beyond angry that Brian even had the audacity to bring this up at all.
“Michelle, can you please stop fighting with me about this?” Brian groaned, the stabbing pain in his temple slowly increasing with each moment that passed. “There is nothing you can do to change my mind about this. He’s staying and that’s that.”
“I don’t see why he has to stay here.” Michelle whined, folding her arms across her chest. “Why can’t he stay with one of your other band mates?”
“Because he asked to stay with me.” Brian answered simply, lifting his head to see his girlfriend looking at him with the most unimpressed face he’d ever seen. “What?”
Michelle narrowed her eyes slightly. “Did he ask or did you offer?”
“Why does it matter?” Brian asked, raising one eyebrow up. “He’s my friend and this is my house. You’re just going to have to get used to it.”
“Maybe I should just go then since this is your house.” Michelle snapped. “Because what’s the point of staying if you’re only going to want to spend time with him anyway!”
Brian couldn’t help but laugh slightly. “Is that what this is about? ‘Cause you’re fucking jealous?”
“I am not jealous.” Michelle snapped, although her face did flush a bright shade of pink. “I just don’t see why you have to do everything.”
“He needs my help, Michelle.” Brian said bluntly. “I want to help him beat this.”
“What? Beat a fuckin’ woman’s disease?” Michelle asked, a nasty smirk creeping across her lips as she imitated her boyfriend from only a few months previous.
Brian sighed. “You know what? Just go. I don’t need this negativity and neither does Zack at the moment. Stay with your sister if you’re going to be rude.”
Michelle’s eyes narrowed again into slits but instead of standing there, fighting, she stormed away from the kitchen; the click clacking of her heels could be heard on the floorboards in the house as she headed towards the bedroom. Brian dropped his head and let out a sigh before standing up and following the sounds of frantic packing coming from his bedroom.
“What are you doing?” He asked, folding his arms as he leant against the door jam.
“I’m going. This is what you want, isn’t it?” Michelle snapped, continuing to frantically throw things into her suitcase.
“No, it’s not. But I don’t want you to get so jealous and angry over this.” Brian said calmly. “You would expect the same from me if the situation was reversed.”
Michelle stopped and turned to look at her boyfriend, folding her arms across her chest. “What do you want me to do then?”
“I want you to stay.” Brian said with a slight smirk. “But only if you want to.”
Before Michelle could respond, the doorbell rang. “I’ll go get that.” Brian said. “Please, unpack all of that.”
He pushed himself off of the door jam and headed towards the front door, smiling as he opened it when he saw Zack standing on the other side with a suitcase in his hand. “Hey.” Zack panted as he walked in through the door, dripping water everywhere from the torrential ran that was happening outside. “Sorry, it’s really wet.”
A slight smile pulled at the corner of Brian’s lips. “It’s okay. Come in before you catch pneumonia.”
Brian shut the door behind his friend but as he turned around, saw his girlfriend standing there, arms folded tightly across her chest, eyes narrowed dangerously at Zack. “Did I do something wrong?” Zack asked nervously.
“Why are you here?” Michelle snapped. “You are ruining the precious time I get to spend with my boyfriend.”
Zack turned back to look at Brian, tears brimming his bright green eyes. “I’ll go if you want me to.”
“No.” Brian said angrily before turning to look at the only girl in the house. “What did I just tell you?” He snapped but she didn’t answer. “You know what? Have loads of fuckin’ fun here by yourself ‘cause I’m not staying here with someone like you. C’mon Zacky.”
Brian’s arm wrapped around Zack’s shoulders and directed the pair back to the front door, opening it and stepping out in the horrible conditions that were lashing hard against the house. The pair quickly ran through the rain and to Zack’s black BMW that sat parked behind Brian’s car and jumped into the solitude and warmth away from the rain.
Zack hesitated for only a moment before he started up the car, reversing out of the drive way and speeding slightly through the rain to head back the way that he had come only a few minutes earlier. The pair stayed silent for a few minutes, Zack was concentrating hard on the road while Brian stared aimlessly out of the window as the rain hit the window hard.
“I didn’t mean to make you and Michelle fight.” Zack said quietly.
Brian shrugged but didn’t turn to look at his friend. “She needs to get over her jealousy.”
“Why is she jealous?” Zack asked, eyes fixed firmly on the road as he turned the corner that lead onto his street.
“I spose that you were going to be staying with us.” Brian shrugged again. “If the situations were reversed, she would expect me to be understanding of her.”
“Fuckin’ women.” Zack said with a slight smirk, turning to his right to see Brian with a grin on his face. “Who needs that bullshit?”
Brian let out a bark like laugh. “The only time she ever shuts up is when my dick is in her mouth.”
Zack couldn’t help the laugh that came out from his own mouth as he pulled into his driveway and with one click of the button, his garage door rolled up and he drove through and put the car into park. The pair climbed out as the garage door rolled back down, Zack reaching into his car and pulling out the suitcase he’d just packed and brought with him.
The pair stayed silent as they walked through the back entrance of the house, closing the door that lead out the garage as they stepped into the white kitchen that looked far too pristine to be real or lived in. “Want a drink or anything, man?” Zack asked as he dropped the heavy suitcase on the floor with a thud.
“Got any beer?” Brian called to him from the lounge room and Zack could hear the sound of his TV being turned on.
“When don’t I have any fuckin’ beer?” Zack called back as he reached into the fridge and pulled out two bottles, popping the lids off of them before he carried them to the lounge room and handed one to Brian, who had already sprawled out on the black leather lounge. “There you go your majesty.”
“Thanks man.” Brian replied, ignoring the snide comment as he lifted the bottle up to his lips and emptied some of the contents into his mouth. “What do you want for dinner?”
Zack shrugged as he took a seat on one of the arm chairs. “Pizza, maybe?”
Brian nodded as he stood up from the couch, placed his bottle on the coffee table and left the room, phone pressed up against his ear, already ordering the pizza.
But as soon as he left the room, Zack began feeling more then a little low. His heart thrummed painfully against his chest as he ran over the events that had only just happened. While his friend was all smiles, Zack knew that underneath that, he was hurt and Zack couldn’t help but think that it was mostly his fault.
He downed the contents of his beer bottle in record time as his guilt overtook all of his senses. While he knew that this was not necessarily his fault, he did know that if it wasn’t for the issues he had been having, then none of this would have happened. If he hadn’t been so fucking stupid and given in to his stupid and repulsive need to get rid of all the calories he’d been stupid enough to eat, then he wouldn’t be in the situation he was in.
Before he even realized, he was already quickly downing his next bottle of beer and almost ready to reach for his third and Brian hadn’t even returned yet.
He took a deep breath as all the emotions washed over him. He was absolutely terrified of going into rehab, where he would have to deal with everything alone. His eyes looked up as Brian walked back into the room and looked down at him, a slight smirk gracing his perfect features.
“Drinking without me?” He said, in a falsely upset tone. But his smirk left his face immediately when he realized that something was distressing his friend terribly. “What’s wrong?”
“How am I going to handle all this therapy by myself?” Zack asked, tears brimming at the corners of his eyes. “I’m terrified about doing this.”
Brian looked at his friend carefully for a moment, watching his facial expressions carefully for any slight change in them. “Don’t be scared, Zacky.” He said quietly. “We will all be here on the outside and there as much as we can to visit. You can do this. You are a strong man.”
“I’m scared I’m going to fail.” Zack replied quietly as the first tear streaked down his pale face.
“Come here.” Brian gestured, opening his arms up as he watched the other man take the few steps over and fall into his arms. He ran his hand through Zack’s short, messy hair in a soothing hair. “None of us will let you fail.” He added as he pulled the other man in closer to his body, Zack’s head landing on his shoulder as all the emotion washed over him, while his ass landed on Brian’s lap, slowly sliding down closer to his groin. “Hey! None of that!”
“None of what?” Zack asked, pulling back to look at his friend.
“You’re grinding up against my dick.” Brian said bluntly. “I don’t want shit to get weird.”
Zack laughed a little bit as he slid off of Brian’s lap and landed next to him. “It was a little gay.”
Brian laughed as the doorbell sounding in the distance cut between their almost awkward moment. “You’ll be fine, kiddo.” He said as he ruffled up Zack’s hair. “I’m gonna make sure.”
“Thank you.” Zack said quietly as he waited for the pizza.
Brian brought it back not long after and handed his friend his usual Pepperoni while he ate his own Ham and Pineapple. He opened the box and licked his lips before devouring the food in the box in record time.
Zack smiled as he began eating his own pizza. He knew he could beat this with Brian by his side.
a/n: i couldnt resist the almost gay moment. hahah. im planning the next chapter to be a long one, hence why this one is so short. Thank you to everyone for their reads and reviews :)
