Lori coolly observed Sherrie, which didn’t go unnoticed by Steve. “What’s that all about?” He asked as he continued to hold her close. When the song was over they walked back to their seats. “I don’t know.” Sherrie said sincerely. Lori never cared for her and it was certainly compounded when Lori was suspecting that the friendship between her and her husband was bordering on inappropriateness. Steve also had his guard up, he trusted Sherrie, but he instinctively knew something happened between her and Gregg. Gregg never forgave Steve after seeing his wife coming out of his hotel room, and neither admitting to anything. Steve figured it wasn’t his fault if married women wanted to throw themselves on him; he did what any red blooded virile man would do, especially if he thought the woman was pretty.
Truth of the matter is, Steve and Lori did share a kiss, nothing more, she needed to get Steve out of her system, she allowed herself to get caught up in the frenzy of the female fans, up till then she didn’t really see Steve that way. She kissed him out of curiosity and she wasn’t disappointed. Every time she saw Steve, she remembered the moment of his probing tongue and his skilled hands all over her body. Gregg looked over at Lori, who was looking at Steve twirling Sherrie about on the floor. “Penny for your thoughts.” Gregg said still looking intently at Lori. She snapped out of her trance and turned to look at Gregg. “What really happened between you two?” Gregg asked, wanting to get something started, he wasn’t finished with Steve and he was itching for a fight. “I told you nothing happened.” She said. Gregg got up and walked over to Steve and towered over him; Lori hot on his heels. “You got something to say to me?” Gregg asked and uncharacteristically shoved Steve; Steve was the last man another man wanted to bully or push around and he lunged at Gregg only to be restrained by Neal, who saw the whole thing brewing. “What the hell is wrong with you?” Steve asked, angry he didn’t get his punch in. “You banged my wife, be a man and admit it.” Steve looked over at Lori. “I’m not admitting to something that I didn’t do.” “We did kiss, but I swear we didn’t do anything else.” Lori said which angered Gregg more, because he’d asked her several times what happened and she always denied nothing inappropriate happened. “Well what about you and …………..” Lori pointed at Sherrie; she couldn’t even say her name. By now the other people at the party were surrounding the drama being played out before them, with someone joking in the background; “This is better than Dallas.” Before the argument turned into a full out brawl, Herbie came in and dispersed everyone, telling Steve and Gregg to go home and sleep it off, what was done was done and nothing could be done about it now. The men reluctantly went home. Steve and Sherrie remained quiet in the car, neither wanted to re-open the can of worms of who kissed or slept with whom, it never solved anything, but pointing the perpetual finger. They’d forgiven each other for past transgressions and opted to move on. Tané was glad the attention was off of her for the moment………………….After Steve, Sherrie and Gregg and Lori left, the party sort of fizzled out, and everyone left soon after, leaving Herbie to clean up the mess. As the weeks wore on, the whole Steve/Gregg situation was pretty much forgotten, being replaced with endless roads of black pavement and similar towns and arenas were becoming a blur to Steve and the rest of the band. They needed something to lift their spirits and pull them out of their boredom. Nights on stage were one thing, empty mindless hours before being on stage was another matter. They were staying at a pretty nice hotel, with heated swimming pool and had decided to make it their own personal pool, much to the annoyance of other guests, who felt that the group were behaving like entitled pampered rock stars. Steve and Sherrie were lounging on chaises when Tané made her entrance. She was aware of all eyes turning to look in her direction and made the most of it. She sauntered over to Steve and Sherrie, completing ignoring Sherrie; she sat on Steve’s chaise and asked him to rub sunscreen on her back. Without thinking he complied. Sherrie chose to ignore them, knowing another argument would ensue. Tané glanced over at Sherrie; who had her head turned in another direction. “Your hands still feel the same.” Tané cooed knowing it would get Sherrie’s attention. When Sherrie didn’t respond Tané pushed the issue. “Remember that night in Houston?” Sherrie had heard enough and got up to walk away, she didn’t know why Tané was brazenly flirting with Steve right in front of Jon; Jon for some reason chose to ignore it, though, Steve knew he was skating on thin ice with Neal and Jon regarding their wives. Sherrie remembered Steve disappearing for a few hours one night and being vague about his whereabouts when they were touring in Houston, and she believed his story, of getting a few drinks with the guys. Now it made sense, the knowing glances between Steve and Tané, and the lipstick print on his neck that he claimed was from an overzealous fan. Sherrie decided to let the past stay in the past, and she figured Tané had to feel threatened to try to get next to her like that. Sherrie also knew that if Steve didn’t follow her up to their hotel room, it was over. No sooner had she arrived to the room, Steve was right behind her, sputtering and wanting to explain, to which Sherrie replied. “The past is the past but stay away from her.” She said turning to look him in his face, she was determined not to let his expressive eyes manipulate her and fall under his spell. It was too late; he had her in his arms and was passionately kissing her before she could move from arms reach. She was in his grasp, and she succumb to the soft sweet lips that always made her lose herself, he always managed to say the right words to keep her coming back for more, her mind said run, her body, her heart said………stay and endure. He led her over to the bed, where he gently removed her bikini top, lowering his head he sucked her breast, solidifying his place in her heart, he knew exactly what to do and say to hold her captive emotionally. With one hand, her bottoms were off and he was on top of her........
