"There’s so many things you should have told her,
But night after night you’re willing to hold her,
Just hold her tears on your shoulder."

"I wish I could go with you," Carrie frowned.
"Me too," Kelly nodded, pulling her closer as they lay together under the covers. "But you've got a lot of work to do. You'll come meet us in a week."
"Yea," Carrie sighed.
"Have you heard from your sister?"
She shook her head.
"I'm sorry," Kelly kissed her forehead.
"Maybe she just needs some time."
"Maybe so."
"Kell...you don't think that we're making a mistake, do you?"
"What? No, Care. Of course not," Kelly replied, surely. "Care, you know me, this isn't something I'd just do on a whim. And I know you--you are one of the most level-headed people I've ever met."
"We were drunk for our first time," she pointed out.
"So maybe it speeded up our relationship a lot faster than both of us are used to...well, a heck of a lot faster than you're used to apparently," Kelly looked at her carefully.
Carrie avoided her gaze.
"You were a virgin?"
"Yea," she replied softly.
"How could you not tell me that? I mean, were you just embarrassed?"
"It just never came up. I mean, you talked about you and Graham, and it was obvious that you weren't, and I just...I don't know. And then we slept together, and it didn't matter anymore."
"It didn't matter? Care, of course it matters. You didn't think that I would've liked to have known something as big as that?" Kelly asked gently.
"Maybe I didn't want to make it a big deal."
"But it is a big deal."
"Would it have made you treat me any different?" Carrie asked, a little hurt.
Kelly sighed, tucking a stray curl behind the country singer's ear, allowing her fingers to trail down her jaw line, "No, I just...I wouldn't have wanted your first time to be the result of a drunken night. You deserve better than that."
Carrie smiled at her softly.
"Not to mention what you must have been going through after, and you didn't have anyone to turn to. I wish you would've turned to me."
"It's not like you weren't having to deal with it too."
"I still would've been there if you needed to talk."
Carrie nodded, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"I'm sorry I was too caught up with everything else when we met to consider you."
"It's ok," Carrie replied, wrapping her arms around her tighter.
Kelly smiled, leaning forward to kiss her sweetly, "Mm, and may I say that you are way too good in bed. I have no excuse for not talking about it with you before, but after...the thought never even crossed my mind."
Carrie gave a soft laugh, "Is that what you meant when you were arguing with Shanna and said you were there?"
"Yea," Kelly laughed. "I totally blame you."
"You know," Carrie nodded. "That is something that I am perfectly fine with taking the blame for."
Kelly grinned as she pressed their lips together firmly.
Carrie smiled, touching her cheek as she pulled back, "You should probably get going. Don't want to miss your flight."
"I'd stay with you for the week, but we've been planning this trip for a while, and Jason really worked hard on getting my schedule--"
Carrie put up a hand, stopping her, "It's ok. Just promise not to fall for some hot French guy before I get there, ok? From what I hear they can be quite romantic."
"Cross my heart," Kelly smiled, giving her a quick kiss before rolling out of bed.

"I like the feel of your name on my lips,
And I like the sound of your sweet gentle kiss,
The way that your fingers run through my hair,
And how your scent lingers even when you're not there."

Kelly grinned as they walked out of the airport.
"This is awesome," Jason smiled at a passing girl. "Bonjour."
"Bonjour," she smiled back.
"This is just what I need," Einar nodded as he watched her walking away. "Girls who can't understand a single word I'm saying."
"Bonjour," a cute guy smiled at Kelly and Kate.
"Hallo," Kate replied.
"Wrong language," Kelly laughed as the guy looked at them weirdly before walking away. "French, not German."
"Damn it," Kate frowned, her eyes following him, longingly. "Too many freaking languages in this world to keep straight."
"You'll get 'em next time," Kelly patted her shoulder as they climbed into the limo.
"Talk about star treatment," Jill smiled. "This is going to be awesome."
Kelly held her hand out the window, taking a picture with her phone of an old building that they passed, texting it to Carrie, telling her she couldn't wait till she got to see it for herself.
"She ok?" Ashley whispered.
"Yea, she's ok. She's a lot tougher than she seems."
Ashley smiled, patting her knee.

Kelly slowed down as they reached their starting point. She bent over, her hands on her sides as she caught her breath, "Now I remember why I don't run with you. You go too fast."
Kate laughed, "This place is beautiful, though."
"Yea, you don't mind if I totally bail on you when Carrie comes and I take her here, do you?"
"Go for it," Kate waved her off.
Kelly struggled to take in a deep breath, "I didn't realize it'd be this much colder here."
"Yea, totally not your typical summer weather."
Kelly nodded as they started to walk back to the hotel, "So, um, have you talked to Jill? You know...kinda get a feel for where her head's at."
"Yea..." Kate nodded.
"Why do I have a feeling that that's not a good yea?" Kelly frowned.
"We were just talking about all the typical gossip, you know, who's dating who, who's cheating on who, that thing, and we ended up getting on the topic of gay marriage...she's not in your corner."
"But I'm not asking to marry the girl," Kelly pointed out. "We've just started dating."
Kate sighed, "It's not just marriage. She feels pretty strongly about this. She was raised really conservative."
"So were Carrie and I. Obviously we don't have a problem with it."
"I know, and if there were something I could do, you know I would."
"I know," Kelly nodded. "Sorry for putting you in the middle of all this."
"But hey, there's still the chance that when she meets Carrie, she'll see how cool she is, and maybe she won't have a problem with it."
"You think?"
"Maybe. I mean, I honestly don't know how she's going to react since it's you. You're one of our closest friends. That's gotta stand for something, right?"
"I hope so," Kelly nodded.
"What about y'alls families and stuff?"
"Um, we're gonna tell them...just not in any rush."
"And her sister?"
"She still hasn't heard from her," she shook her head.
"I'm sorry," Kate gave her arm a gentle squeeze. "But hey, don't worry about it, ok? Your girlfriend will be joining you in France in a matter of days...how freaking romantic is that?"
"I know," Kelly smiled, thinking of the blonde country singer. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yea, of course."
"It's kinda personal, and I'd ask Ash, but she'd just laugh, and I know you won't say anything..."
"Yea, of course. What's up?"
"It's about Carrie. She's kinda...well, she's not anymore, but she was before me...anyway, she was a virgin."
"Oh, wow. You were her first? That's really sweet."
"Yea, it would've been if she'd told me about it before a couple days ago."
"You didn't know?" Kate asked, surprised.
"No, and I feel so bad about it. I mean, our first time, which was her first, first time, we were both pretty drunk."
"That sucks."
"I feel like a total douche for taking that away from her. I mean, if I'd have known..."
"If you had known, what?" Kate questioned. "I mean, from what I've gathered from the stories you and Ashley have told me, you and Carrie were both pretty oblivious. If it weren't for that night, who's to say if y'all would've ever opened your eyes to each other?"
"Maybe," Kelly frowned. "I just...she's special, and her first time should've been amazing and super romantic and gentle...not me just totally having my way with her."
Kate raised an eyebrow.
Kelly shrugged sheepishly, "There was a lot of pent up tension."
"Sounds like it," she nodded.
"Do you think it would be lame if I set up this romantic night for her...you know like roses and candles, the whole thing and make it up to her?"
Kate smiled softly, "I don't think that would be lame at all, and I think she'd really like that."
"Will you help me set it up? I want to do it the night she gets here, so I don't have that much time."
"Yea, of course."
"Thanks," Kelly smiled, feeling a slight case of butterflies at the thought of seeing Carrie again.
