A/N: Okay, so I tried to say that I would get up this chapter in the same day as the others, but it turns out that technically I didn't. But I was highly distracted (and upset) by some personal things that will hopefully iron out alright. But you probably don't care to hear about those, you just want the new chapter, right? ;) As per requested, this chapter has some more Becca/Patrick fluff. So here it is! Enjoy! *hugs to all readers and my reviewers*

Rebecca walked across the pavement, her arms swinging lightly, as she let the few bags that contained her meager shopping for the day hang limply in her hands. She had allowed herself a day out on the town in preparations for the video shoot that was coming up in the next few days. That and she needed to get a new dress for Marla’s wedding, which was even closer. It had been about a week since she had agreed to direct the music video for her brother. And she had been kept busy those days getting things and ideas ready, not to mention hanging out with people, particularly with the new friends that she had found in Jon and Spencer (the latter of which had went back to his hometown a few days ago).
She had invited Patrick to the wedding, and giggled at the memory of his reaction. He had blushed and stuttered horribly. It was endearing, really. And so she had drove into town to do some shopping and then meet up with her brother and some of the other guys for lunch. She had (for the most part) finished up with her shopping and was just headed back to her small car to lock up her bags and head over to the little pizzeria that they always ate at.
“Hey there, hotcheeks. Whatcha’ got in those bags?”
Rebecca felt her heartbeat quicken at the strange voice coming up behind her. She discreetly put one hand in her purse and pulled out the small can of pepper spray that she carried around, just in case, her fingers pulling her keys to the top of her bag as well. As soon as she felt a hand on her arm, she spun around quickly only to be knocked against the side of her car. She pulled out the can and sprayed the shady looking guy right in the face, giving him a swift kick in the groin after he fell to the pavement. She hopped in her car and locked the doors, starting the car and quickly pulling out of the parking lot, heading towards the pizzeria.
As she drove, the only thing that she could think of was Aiden. She knew that she really should have gotten over him by now, after all, he had died several years ago. But she still couldn’t come to grips with what had happened to the guy who had been her best friend throughout most of elementary school and on. Rebecca pulled into the parking lot of the pizzeria and sat in her car, slowly starting to sob.
A few seconds later, she heard a quick knocking on her window and jumped, a squeal coming out of her lips unbidden. Although when she looked out the window she saw that it was just Patrick. She unbuckled her seat belt, unlocking the door, and opened it. As she got out of her car, she threw her arms around Patrick’s neck. She was beside herself with the fear that still ran through her after the near mugging.
“Whoa, Reby. What’s wrong?”
Rebecca could feel Patrick’s hands rubbing soothing motions along her back, and heard the calming noises that he was making, and slowly the tears stopped. She hiccupped a few times and then laughed lightly at the funny noises that she made, and pulled away slightly.
“Sorry for seeming to pounce on you. There was a guy who --“
“Oh my god, what happened to you, Reby? Are you alright?”
“It was just a guy who tried to rob me. I maced him and then kicked him in a not too nice place. I’m okay, just a little shook up, I suppose.”
“Well, come on, I think a nice veggie pizza will make you feel better. And I insist on you drinking soda tonight. None of that water stuff you drink all the time. You’re in need of sugar and caffeine.”
Rebecca caught her breath as he reached out and lightly ran a hand across her forehead, frowning as she noticed that it came back bearing a little blood. She giggled a little as she heard him clucking his tongue like a mother hen. She followed him into the pizzeria, not realizing that her arm was still wrapped around his own, as she was still in the state of shock mixed with fear at her close call.
She could see her brother’s first instinct to tease her and Patrick for the way that they walked into the pizzeria, then she saw the recognition as he must have noticed how she looked roughed up. He jumped up and rushed over, looking like he was about to either smother her and never let her out of his sight or run out and personally chase down the guy who had did this to her.
“Oh my god, Becca. What happened? Are you okay? Come here and sit down.”
Rebecca laughed at Pete’s smothering, being almost carried over to the booth where they always sat by both her brother on one arm and Patrick on the other. She sat down and dropped her head into her hands laughing uncontrollably. Perhaps it was all the tension she had built up in her from the almost attack, or just the humor of the situation in general.
“I’m alright. I was just almost robbed. I gave the guy a fair warning. I don’t think he’s going to be too keen on trying to rob any other girls. He did get one hit at me though. I just fell against the car is all. Why? Do I look that rough?”
“No, you look great like always. I’m just glad that you’re okay. Ah, thanks Andy. Now lets get you cleaned up.”
Rebecca smiled at Andy, who had went off to get a wet paper towel or such to wash off the small cut on her forehead. She laughed as Pete began wiping gently at her face while sitting across the table from her. Although she couldn’t help but giggle as Andy pulled the towel out of Pete’s hands and pulled her to the edge of the seat so he could handle the first aid. She guessed that was what happened when your mom was a nurse. That and Andy had always been over at their house growing up, so much so that she had adopted him as one of her brothers.
“Thanks, Andy. Are you up for sharing a specialty pizza again today?”
Rebecca smiled and gave him a quick wink before sliding back into the booth, pulling out a band to pull her hair back. They had always shared pizzas, well ever since she had become a vegetarian, so it was a little lighter than a full vegan, but she still tended to eat special food.
“Of course, Becca. Besides, who else would share my pizza?”
She laughed at his playful banter, glad that he wasn’t awkward with her, as he sometimes had a tendency of being after tour. Perhaps he was getting better in general, or either he was just in a talkative mood today. She settled back into the booth, closing her eyes for a moment, but as soon as she did, she saw the man coming at her. Jolting back upright, Rebecca blushed and felt the lightest touch in her hair soothing. She turned to catch Patrick blushing, although he seemed to have plucked up enough courage to keep his arm around her shoulders, with his fingers playing with the back of her hair. She leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before turning back to Andy and Pete who had settled in the booth across the table from them.
“Thanks guys. I don’t know why I’m such a wreck lately. And Petey, don’t even say what I’m pretty sure you’re thinking. Let’s just get our pizzas and eat. I could probably eat a good portion of a pizza myself.”
“You always eat a lot, Becca. And you have a hollow leg, so it doesn’t matter that eat so much. I’m surprised Andy has any pizza left for him when you devour most of it.”
Rebecca playfully wadded up a napkin and tossed it across the table, grinning when it hit its target. This started a napkin war that continued until their pizzas arrived, along with a rather amused waitress.
