As Charlotte and Thierry dressed themselves to leave, they couldn't stop kissing or keep their hands off one another. Once they were dressed, Thierry lifted her in his arms and carried her out of the changing room. Just as they were stepping out into the passageway that was open to the black Mediterranean night, they nearly crashed into Charlotte's bodyguard.
"Roberto..." Charlotte said in surprise.
"Mademoiselle, I've been waiting for you... Mademoiselle Pozzo di Borgo said you were detained by some equestrian lesson... I've been worried. Monsieur Rozier..." the bodyguard was confused.
"Salut, Roberto," Thierry said, unable to contain his cheeriness. "We're off. I'm driving Mademoiselle to her friend's villa in my car. I suppose you'll want to follow us?"
Roberto nodded, still dumbfounded. Thierry, still carrying his fresh womanly princess, led the way out to the now-empty parking lot. He placed Charlotte in the passenger seat of his BMW and excitedly walked around to the driver's seat. As they drove off, Roberto followed in a black Range Rover.
"Do you think Roberto suspects anything?" Charlotte asked Thierry.
"Probably," he said.
Charlotte sighed and leaned her head back in the seat. She closed her eyes. "Oh mon Dieu, this is terrible. My mother will kill me..."
Thierry laughed. "Oh come on, princess, don't tell me you've never done anything naughty that Roberto got knowledge of! Your protection officer does not know how to keep a secret?"
"Well..." Charlotte trailed off. "Nothing like this. I mean, sure, he's kept minor secrets... but nothing of this magnitude."
"Well, don't worry, princess," Thierry said reassuringly. "I'll take care of it."
"How?"
"Roberto and I will have a chat, man to man. He won't tell anyone."
