Chapter 11: Pre Camping Shopping Fun
Ethan woke up to the smell of breakfast being cooked. He felt a weight on his stomach and with a confused look he looked and saw an arm was resting there. He turned his head and his eyes widened seeing Alex sound asleep next to him. He slowly started to get out of the bed trying not to wake him up.
Once he was completely out he walked into the kitchen and saw Lynn sitting at the bar with a cup of coffee dressed and ready for the day. Andy was ready for the day as well.
Ethan was trying to remember last night. He called Alex asking him if he wanted to come over and hang out and look for boxes to send his and Andy's Christmas presents home. Alex said yes and the two of them were having fun. They were laughing, talking, playing video games, watching a few movies, and ordered some take out.
He remembered that he made up the pull out couch bed. He said that it would be more comfortable if they just laid down on the bed. They weren't touching at that point but just watching a movie and just enjoying each other's company. He didn't remember when he fell asleep.
The last thing he remembered was watching a kids movie about singing trolls. Now he was waking up next to Alex.
"Hey, there he is," Andy said with a smile and put some scrambled eggs on a plate.
"How did you sleep?" She asked trying not too sound obvious.
Ethan walked up to her with a confused look still on his face, "Um, really good actually. But uh, well," he started to say and they both heard a groan from the living room and they watched as Alex stood up from the bed and stretched. He walked into the kitchen with a big smile on his face when he saw his friends. Ethan was avoiding eye contact with him and Andy was filling up plates with scrambled eggs, toast, and bacon.
"Good morning all," he said with a smile and sat down next to Lynn and gave her a hug.
"Some one woke up on the right side of the bed," she said returning the hug.
Andy put a cup of coffee in front of him and his eyes widened, "Yes! I was craving your coffee all day yesterday!" He said taking a sip and closing his eyes enjoying the hot liquid.
"I'm gonna go take a shower and get ready," Ethan said and rushed out of the kitchen.
"Is he okay?" Alex asked. Lynn and Andy looked at each other and then back at Alex.
"He's just excited to watch your shoot today." Andy said putting down two plates of the breakfast she just made for them .
"So, how did your date go last night?" He asked. Again Andy and Lynn looked at each other and smiled.
"It was amazing! How was your night with Ethan?" Lynn said. She really wanted to know what happened. She ended up leaving not too long after and said that she would be by early with some clothes for Alex.
"It was a lot of fun. We played video games, watched some movies, talked, ordered some take out, you know, 'dude stuff.'"
"How did you sleep?" Andy asked taking a sip of her coffee.
"Best night sleep I've ever had!" He said with a big smile. Andy smiled and looked at her watch, they still had plenty of time to get to the location for their small video shoot and Brian was on his way with Angel. They were going to take the Jeep since it had more room to meet up with Mark and Kara. Also, they had to talk to Kara about meeting with Erika before New Years, and then set up a meeting with Melissa. Which from the way the trio made it sound, it wasn't going to be a good meeting at all.
"Hello?" They heard from the front door. It was Brian's voice and Alex yelled out that they were in the kitchen. They saw Angel and Brian walk in and hugs went all around. Angel took Lynn's hand and rushed her out of the kitchen to talk about her date with Andy.
Brian and Alex shook their heads and then turned their attention to Andy who was making another cup of coffee for herself. She didn't look up until she was done and was about to take a sip. She froze and looked at the two pairs of eyes staring back at her, "What?" She asked with a causal shrug.
Brian crossed his arms and pretended to be tough, "You know what. We want the details of last night."
Alex stood up and had the same stance as Brian. Andy smiled at the two of them waiting for one of the them to break. She just shrugged and took a sip of her coffee and then started to clean up the kitchen.
"Why don't you go and listen to Lynn's side first and then I'll tell you my side." She said with a smirk and the two guys rushed out of the kitchen and into the living room where Lynn and Angel were.
The two women were on the pull out bed and Lynn was just about to start telling her about the date when the two guys rushed in and sat down on the floor.
"Whoa! What's going on?" Lynn asked.
"Andy won't give us any details!" Brian said in a loud whisper.
"She told us that we should hear what you had to say first." Alex said sitting on the floor with his legs criss crossed waiting for Lynn to tell her story.
"Well," she started to say just as Ethan was coming down the stairs freshly showered and dressed making a beeline for the kitchen.
Without a word he took Andy's coffee cup and started to drink it not caring if he burned his mouth or not. Andy turned around and saw her best friend chugging her coffee and waited until he was done.
"If it wasn't so early in the morning I would take a fucking shot!" He said trying to keep his voice down.
"What happened last night?" She asked drying her hands off on a dish towel.
"Nothing, we just hung out and then I wake up and he's fucking cuddling me!"
Andy looked at him with a knowing look. "Don't! I wasn't really serious about anything! I was only joking around! But this is weird. I don't know if I can face him now!"
She put the dish towel on the counter and put her hands on her best friends shoulders, "Calm down. He woke up alone, he said last night was the best night sleep he's ever had. We didn't ask why. Try not to be weird around him today. Remember we gotta go and get stuff for the camp out. Breathe, Ethan. You got this. I'm sure it was just instinct for him to cuddle something while he sleeps."
Ethan closed his eyes and nodded, "You're right, but you know how I have a big crush on him. Everything I've been saying has been in a joking manner and to wake up with his arm around me just freaked me out."
Andy took his face in her hands and looked at him, "Look, he doesn't remember cuddling with you at all. I know you're freaking out, and I understand why. Just take another deep breath and have a some breakfast, some more coffee and calm down. If it starts bothering you again we'll talk more about it. Okay?" He nodded and she gave him a hug.
"What would I do without you?" He asked as he hugged her back.
"I could ask the same about you," she replied just as her phone started to ring. They pulled away from each other and she picked up her phone off the counter and looked at the caller I.D. she showed Ethan and he looked confused. She answered it and put it on speaker.
"Hello?"
"Hey Andy, it's Clint."
"What's up?"
"Is there anyway you and Ethan can come in today? We just had three call outs."
Both Ethan and Andy shook their heads. They knew Clint was going to forget that they were out of town. He's done this before when Andy and Ethan went to Wisconsin to visit Ethan's family.
"Uh, we would, if we weren't nine hours away and in another state until the third." Andy said with a smirk.
There was a silence on the other end and a frustrated sigh, "I forgot again didn't I?" Clint asked.
"Yup, you sure did," Ethan said shaking his head.
"Damn. Wish you guys were here. It hasn't been smooth sailing since you left, and it might not be when you guys leave for good."
"We know, but we'll be back soon to help train the new guys as best as we can and hopefully things will go back to smooth for you." Andy said feeling really awful that she couldn't help out.
"One can only hope. Alright enjoy the rest of your vacation, I'll see you soon. Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year," they both said and then Andy hung up.
"Dude, how is it still fucking busy?" Ethan asked as he sat down at the counter bar and started to finally eat his breakfast. Andy shook her head and went back to cleaning the kitchen. They had a long day ahead of them and she wanted to make sure things would go just as planned.
*****************************************************************
"So then, I asked her why did it take her so long to propose to her Nicole. Get this, when she was twenty she was dating a girl for like six months and they got engaged."
"Seriously?!"
"NO!"
"Are you kidding me?!"
The three of them replied all at once. Lynn was telling her three best friends details of her date with Andy and they were hanging on every word. She went on to tell them how Andy asked when was her favorite moment on stage.
"I remember that," Alex said with a smile.
"Yeah me too. You were so overwhelmed." Brian added. Lynn nodded and smiled, then continued to talk about how delicious their dinner was, and how they ordered dessert to go.
"Get this she picked Nickelback over Daughtry," she said in a whisper.
"I'm sorry, what?!"
"Oh my God!"
"No! No! NO!"
The three replied and then all four looked into the kitchen and saw the two best friends laughing about something. They turned their attention back on Lynn and she continued with how the date ended.
"She said that it felt weird for her to be dropped off because she would normally be the one to do that."
"What do you mean?" Alex asked.
"She said that she's normally the one to pick up the girl, pay for the date, drive the girl home, walk her up to her door, give her a kiss good night, and then go home. So I guess for me to do the picking up, dropping off, walking her to her door, and giving her a kiss good night was weird for her because she's so used to doing that kind of stuff."
Angel nodded, "I can understand where she's coming from. She's been so used to pretty much taking care of some one else that she forgets herself sometimes. She wants to make that person she's with comfortable and safe."
Lynn nodded, "I get that feeling with her all the time. This is all so new to me. Like for both of us. She told me that she's NEVER had a New Years Eve kiss."
"You have got to be fucking kidding me!"
"Not even with her ex?!"
"WHAT?!"
Lynn nodded, "I was also her very first mistletoe kiss." Her three friends looked at her in disbelief and shook their heads.
Angel smiled and put her hand on Lynn's arm, "Well at least she's having all these things with you." Lynn nodded and blushed.
She continued with how she walked Andy up to the door and they gave each other a good night kiss and that this time it was different. It was more intense and that it sacred her a little bit, but she felt that Andy knew and pulled away.
"Well what did she say?" Angel asked.
Lynn smiled, "I said, 'Holy Shit' and she said 'Ditto.' She was trying to catch her breath just like how I was. I told her that it was the most amazing first date I've ever had and she said 'Ditto' again. We said good night and she watched me walk to my car and then she went inside. Then, she came outside and said that she had to show me something."
"That's a great way to get a girl inside," Alex said with a smirk and Lynn looked at him wondering how she was going to tell him what she saw. She couldn't keep something like this from him, and from the way Ethan was acting this morning she knew she had to tell her best friend.
"So I come inside and I see you and Ethan on the pull out couch and he had his arm around you, while you had your arm around his waist." Both Brian and Angel looked at Alex whose face was in utter shock.
"Wait, what?" He asked and Lynn repeated what she had said.
"I remember him falling asleep and then, I fell asleep I think twenty minutes later." He said trying to recap of what happened last night.
"Alex, I think Ethan's freaking out over it." Lynn said and the four turned their eyes to the kitchen again and saw the two best friends finish cleaning up the kitchen. Then, they both said, "OHHHH SHIT!" Andy went turned up the music on her phone and the both of them started to dance and rap along to the song.
The four looked at each other with confused smiles and slowly started to make their way to the kitchen. They stood at the entrance as they heard them rap along to a song.
Andy and Ethan were so into the song they didn't notice the four very, very, very, surprised expressions watching them.
Andy and Ethan started out saying the first couple of lines together.
"Take a bath you dirty mother fucker take a bath
whoaaaaoooo
Ethan started off the with the first verse and Andy was doing the background.
I'm all about my girl's pussy
When I get down you know I get it wet
I be workin it out every day and every night
Different sex be good
Imma shoulder blade I'm built
You'll respect my shit or you well get checked.
Andy smiled and then she started the next verse. Both still not knowing that four pairs of eyes were still watching them.
I'm getting tired of playin these hoes
all these dirty lil bitches
all these scandles ass hoodrats
It's time for yall to hit the switches
Bounce out quick
My girl fuck to suck a good dick
And don't get slit because I got a gangster bitch.
Lynn, Angel, Alex, and Brian looked at each other and had no idea what to think. They really didn't think these two would listen to something like this. Ethan started to rap the next verse.
Baby listen up real quick
Hear I go about to talk about some natural shit
So listen to the flow while my dicks in your mouth
And we fuckin on the couch
And I'm turnin you out the pussy like wooo
And I know that you love to come with me
At the same time when I'm sweatin on your chest.
Got you mesmerized I can see it in your eyes
You better tell those other guys that you belong to me.
The two best friends gave each other high fives and then, they started to rap together.
I don't really care about your motha fuckin past
Or how yer last boyfriend that treated you like trash
Wanna keep it real I just hit that ass
So stop the fucking talking babe and go and take a bath
Bring it back clean I work it down slow
I wanna take my time with you just to let you know
Your messin with a pimp here a certified pro
And I wanna hear you scream like wooo wo wooo oo
Andy did a few dance moves and started and took a breath and got ready to do her favorite verse of the song.
Take a bath baby go and wash away your insecurities
Go wash away your fears, wash away your enemy
Bring it back nice and fresh
For a player to play with
Pussy like a slip and slide with it's riding on my dick wooooo
Damn baby you so fine

That's right baby work it nice and slow
From the left to the right now work it to and fro oo

You know I wish I could fuck you without a condom on
But it ain't possible that shit just ain't gonna happin

If you got a golden ticket then let's kick it treat it like I own it and straight get wicked
Some say it's the hoe in me but yo I can't get enough
So baby go and take a bath and get ready to fuck.
"Oooooooo" Ethan said and he chest bumped Andy. Lynn's eyes widened and she couldn't help but started to smile. She looked at her best friends and they too were smiling.
"Is it wrong that I'm actually starting to like this?" Angel whispered. The trio shrugged their shoulders and their heads slowly started to move along to the beat.
I guarantee you never met a g quite like me
And I'll stamp that with my money back guarantee
Qualified to fulfill your wildest fantesys
And when the sun comes up I'll let you get a little sleep
Recharge your batteries cause Imma but you to the test
Lets get it startin with one week and never leave this bed
I'll knock your other lovers flat
Fuck them out your head
Your be screamin talkin marriage next you wanna have my kids.
Ethan finished up the last verse and the two were going to bring it home with the last chorus.
And I wanna hear you scream like wooo wo wooo oo"
(Song and Lyrics by Kottonmouth Kings)
"Fuck yeah bro!" Andy said and they did their 'bro hand shake.'
"Dude I love it when that song comes on. Makes me feel better. Don't know why, but it fucking rocks!"
"I know what you mean. After 13 years it still gets me hyped." Andy said and then they heard some one clear their throat. The two looked at each other with horrified expressions and slowly turned to the four people standing at the doorway to the kitchen.
Both nervously gulped wondering what the four of them were thinking.
"So you like rap too huh?" Lynn asked and trying to hide her smirk.
*****************************************************************************
"Alright, that's a wrap. We got it." The director said with a big smile. The trio clapped and said thank you to the director. They walked over to the other trio that were waiting for them for the last three hours.
The car ride to the shoot was a little awkward because, after they saw Ethan and Andy rap along to the song it was time for them to go. Alex quickly changed his clothes and then they were off.
Ethan was in the front seat and Andy was driving. They didn't know what to say, every now and then they would give each other a side ways glance.
The four in the back were talking about the camp out and they were excited about it. After about ten more minutes of talking Lynn noticed how tense the two were up front. She put a hand on Andy's shoulder and felt her tense up for a split second, then relax.
"So what was that rap back there?" Brian finally asked with a small smile. At the red light Ethan and Andy looked at each other and she gave him a small nod.
"When Andy first started to prep at work I would always make fun of her because of her music choices." Ethan started to say.
"I told him that one day he's going to not make fun of me, because there will be one song that he would like."
Ethan smiled, "So one day I was walking to the back and I heard rap music and I thought that we had a new prep person. But when I turned the corner and saw Andy rapping and dancing to it. I was completely blown away. Because all I ever heard was rock, country, or pop, music from her."
"That night we went home and I introduced him to one of my favorite rap groups and we listened to them all night."
"Then, that song became our song and we like to call it our 'hype' song. Yeah, we know it's really bad, but we can't help but jam out to it."
Andy turned the street and started to look for a parking spot. She saw some one waving at her and she pulled up to see Kara standing there in a bright red coat.
"She does not look too happy." Angel said as Andy started to parallel park the Jeep Cherokee. When she finally parked and turned the Jeep off they all got out of the car and walked up to Kara.
"You guys are early which is good, I need to talk to you two." She said pointing at Andy and Ethan. Without another word she turned and started to walk towards the building. The six friends looked at each other and followed her.
Once they were inside they climbed the flight of stairs and were taken into a big room with a set up for the trio. There was a video camera pointing towards a black couch, a white backdrop, a few lights, and off to the side was a table that had a few drinks, and snacks. Mark walked up to them with a smile and greeted them and said that the trio had to go and get ready for the shoot.
Kara turned and looked at the remaining three. "Angel you don't have to stay for this conversation if you don't want to."
"It's okay, I'll stay. I know what these two are going through and I think I can calm their minds." She said with a smile looking at her two new friends.
"Very well, Erika wants to meet with all of you tomorrow in New York City." She said matter of factly.
"We were just talking about this. But we didn't think it would be as soon as tomorrow." Andy said looking at Ethan.
"I already have train tickets for all six of you. Angel I just assumed you were going to go because of Brian. I'll send a car to pick all of you up. Best bet is to have you all in the same place. Car will be outside tomorrow at four in the morning. It will take you to the station where another car will be waiting and take you straight to Erika. Now I've been trying to get a hold of Melissa. She's the big, big, boss."
"Should we be afraid of them?" Ethan asked.
"I'm not going to lie to you," Kara said with a sigh. "You should be more afraid of Melissa more than Erika. After our meeting I sent Erika an e-mail notifying her that you two will be in their lives. Well I guess her secretary didn't pass along the message, and Erika saw the pictures and video of Lynn and Andy, let's just say she's not happy."
"Wait, why did her secretary get your e-mail and not Erika?" Andy asked looking confused. Kara closed her eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
"All e-mails go through her secretary first. If there's anything from me or Melissa she has to let Erika know right away. So of course this one didn't let her know and now Erika is pissed off at me."
"What number is this one?" Angel asked.
"This would be number, eight."
Ethan and Andy looked at each other with wide eyes. "This is her eighth secretary?" Ethan asked slowly, Kara nodded.
"Please tell me this is her eighth one after a few years." Andy said with her eyes closed.
"Try in the last three months." She replied.
She was about to say something else when they heard some one say, "Quiet on set!"
"We'll talk later." She whispered and turned to watch the trio shot their small video.
Now here they were the six of them talking about what they needed to get for their New Years Eve camp out. Angel informed the trio of what was going on for tomorrow and just as she was finishing up Kara and Mark came up to them.
"Great shoot you three. Now I know you have plans so don't let me stop you. I gotta get going and spend some time with my girls. Going to Vermont today to see some family. I'll see you all in the new year." He finished with a smile and gave them all a hug and walked away.
"So we leave in the morning?" Alex asked looking at Kara and she nodded.
"Well what about after the meeting?" Brian asked.
"That's why I came over. Your return tickets are scheduled for an eight thirty departure tomorrow night. So you can stay and explore the city. Just let the driver know after the meeting what your plans are. He'll take you anywhere you want to go."
She looked at her phone and then looked back up at the six young adults. "It's Erika's office, I have to take this. Let me know where you're staying tonight so I can send a car for tomorrow morning. I'll see you when you get back." She walked away and answered her cell phone.
The six watched her walk away and then they all looked at each other. Lynn walked up to Andy and gave her a small kiss on the lips and then took her hand, "You okay?"
"Um, I'm not sure. After talk with Kara, we just found out that Erika is on her eighth secretary within three months. Also that this one didn't pass along the e-mail she sent. Oh, and we should pretty much be afraid of Melissa. It's a lot to take in."
"Don't worry. These ladies seem tough, but they're really gentle on the inside." Brian said putting his arm around Angel.
"So says you! They love you! Last time we met with those two I felt as if they punched me in the stomach!" Alex said grimacing thinking about his memory of them.
"Why?" Andy asked.
"All I said was I couldn't wait to meet some awesome people and get laid. But I was joking and they didn't take it as a joke. They are very, very, serious women and one piece of advice I can give the both of you is to NOT make a joke."
"Got it," Andy said with a small nod.
"Okay let's go we got some shopping to do." Ethan said and he was the first to start walking towards the stairs.
"Is he okay?" Alex asked.
Andy looked at Lynn, "I told him about what we saw last night."
She nodded, "Yeah, he's just really freaked about waking up to you with your arm around his waist. That's all." They all started to make their way to the stairs.
"Hope I get to talk to him about it. I honestly had no idea I did that. I'm used to having like a pillow or something to cuddle with at night back at my place."
They started to descend the flight of stairs and Andy nodded, "That's what I told him but, I don't think he was expecting that if I'm being honest."
The five walked down the stairs and met Ethan outside. He was on his cell phone with some one and when he looked up he gave the phone to Andy.
"It's work, something's wrong with the dough," he said. She nodded and took the phone and walked away from the group to do her best to help over the phone.
"I guess her phone is still on silent. She has a habit of doing that." He explained to them and they just nodded. Again he was trying to avoid eye contact with Alex.
"So where's a good outdoors place around here?" He asked and the four of them started to talk all at once and he just smiled and held up his hands.
"Whoa, one at a time, " he said with a small laugh and they all just chuckled and apologized. Angel decided to take the lead and tell him there was a good place outside of the city they could go to.
"Just as long as it's not Bass Pro Shop." He said and looked over at Andy still on his phone. Her body language was telling him that she was pissed off. He could see her moving her arm and pointing her finger at ground every now and then. He could almost hear what she was saying.
"What's wrong with that place?" Brian asked breaking his glace from Andy. He sighed and looked at him.
"Well according to Andy when her dad had to take a second job it was at a Bass Pro Shop." He started to say.
"Come to find out that he was cheating on her mom while he was there. Also, after his shift he would go out to a bar with the girl and have a few drinks. She was only eight and she saw her mom crying on the couch. She never put two and two together until she was about sixteen."
Lynn looked over at Andy; it seemed the more she learned about her, the more she wanted to know. Andy seemed to have everything together, but when she learns more about her past she couldn't believe how amazing she turned out.
"Ethan!" They heard and Ethan rushed over to her. The four friends watched their body language and saw that Andy seemed to be frustrated. She gave Ethan his phone back and she reached into her back pocket and pulled out her cell phone and looked at it while still talking to him.
"This is fucking bullshit!" Andy said when he came up to her.
"What's wrong?"
"Well Clint just asked if we could cut our vacation short to come back early." She said shaking her head.
"Are you serious?"
"I told him that you and I haven't had a nice vacation since Wisconsin and since we're leaving this was a good opportunity for them to learn to work without us."
"Right."
"Dude, when he goes on vacation we don't fucking ask for him to cut it short. Or anyone else. Why us?! It's not fair! For the first time in a long time I was actually able to relax and to FINALLY enjoy a vacation without my phone blowing up! I'm so tired of being the one they count on all the fucking time bro!"
Ethan just nodded listening to his best friend and understanding what she was saying. When she was able to come back to work because of her knee, she came back two weeks early with restrictions. But that still didn't stop them from asking her to come in every now and then.
"I love the company don't get me wrong. They've taught me a lot over the years. But sometimes I just get so pissed off at them for shit like this!" She let out a frustrated sigh and shook her head. Ethan put his hands on her arms and looked at her.
"Look, just like you said, they have to learn to not have us around after we come back. We're about to start a new job, move to a new place, and finally be able to do what we've always talked about. We're not the only ones that work for them. They have other people. They just count on us because we do what we do, and we do it well. Now forget about work you fucking workaholic and let's enjoy the rest of this vacation. It might the the last one we have for a while."
She nodded her head and looked at her best friend and smiled, "You're right. I can't let this get to me."
"That's my girl, come here," he smiled and they two best friend gave each other a tight hug.
"Now come on, let's go show them how to camp in the winter." He said as they pulled away and put his arm around her and they walked back over to their four friends.
*********************************************************************************
They met up with David at an outdoors outlet and they branched off to look for the stuff they needed for the camp out. David said he was able to get a last minute permit for them to be able to camp out by that spot and to have a fire as well.
Angel and Lynn went to look for portable heaters. Alex, Brian, and David were looking for sleeping bags, just as Ethan and Andy were looking for tents for them to sleep in. Since they had experience in camping in cold weather.
The ride to the outdoors outlet was a quiet one for the most part. The four didn't want to ask about the phone call Andy had. They assumed she would tell them when she was ready. But they saw how angry and frustrated she was while she was on the phone and then Ethan went to go to talk to her. After a few more minutes of silence Alex broke the silence saying that he was hungry and they Jeep filled with soft chuckles.
They decided that after they got what the needed they would find a place to eat lunch. Then, make more plans about the trip to New York tomorrow, and plans for the New Years Eve camp out. When they arrived at the store David was already inside waiting for them by the tents. That's when they decided to branch off so they could get out fast. Right before they went their separate ways, Andy and Ethan gave them a few tips on what to look for.
"Okay, thanks dad," she said and hung up her phone just as Ethan was doing the same with his uncle.
"What did your dad say?" He asked walking up to her and they both started to look through the tents.
"He said just make sure that we have some sturdy enough to go through the snow and the ground. Since we're in a colder climate and the snow is deeper watch out for snow covered ice."
"My Uncle said the same." They continued to browse until they found three tents. Two big enough for two people and one big enough for three. Andy's phone started to ring and she looked at it and it was her dad. She answered it and started to walk away from Ethan as he put the boxed tents into the shopping cart.
A few aisles over the three guys were looking at sleeping bags.
"Wait, so you two cuddled last night?" David asked as he picked up a sleeping bag and looked at it.
"Apparently, that's what Lynn said she saw last night and Ethan's kinda freaking out over it." Alex said with a small sigh.
"Have you talked to him about it yet?" David asked putting the sleeping bag back on the rack.
Alex shook his head, "I haven't had the chance. I might tonight. By the way Brian have we decided on where we all are staying for the trip tomorrow?"
Brian shook his head and picked out a sleeping back, "No, but I assume with Ethan and Andy, since, to be honest it's in the city and close to the train station."
David put a hand on Alex's shoulders, "I gotta say though, that guy has a big crush on you."
Alex laughed, "No he doesn't."
David gave him a knowing look and Brian turned his head to look at his best friend with the same look. Alex looked at them both and took a step back.
"No he doesn't!" He said a little too loudly that a few people in the same aisle looked at him.
He gave them an apologetic smile and turned back to them, "No he doesn't."
"What ever you say bro," Brian said putting the sleeping back back. They continued to look through the sleeping bags and finally picked out seven of them that they thought would be perfect for the camp out.
On the other side of the store Lynn and Angel were looking at portable heaters.
"How many do we need?" Angel asked.
Lynn thought for a minute, "I think three. Andy said her and Ethan are getting three tents." She said looking at the heaters.
"Why three?" Angel asked reading some information on one of the boxes.
"Well, obviously you and Brian are going to share one. Andy and I are sharing one, and I think Alex, David, and Ethan are going to share one."
"What do you think about this whole cuddling thing with those two?" She asked looking at Lynn and she just shrugged.
"Two things, one it could have been what Alex said. He's used to cuddling with a pillow when he's at his place. Two, I think he secretly likes Ethan but doesn't want to say anything. I mean his toast at Chez's, he said that Ethan was his light. I think it went unnoticed to everyone else but not me. Also he kept asking me opinions on rings for Ethan. He even lights up when he sees him. So I'm not sure, but he seems to be in better spirits since we've met them."
Angel nodded and picked up a box, "You seem to be in better spirits too. Can't remember the last time I saw this glow about you to be honest. Not even with Alexa."
"You know, everyone keeps saying that," Lynn said picking up a box and reading what it says.
"Well it's true. The last couple of years you were in this dark place and I didn't think you would get out of it. But the last year you slowly started to and then these last couple months all Brian kept talking about was how you seemed to be glowing."
Lynn was trying to hide her blush listening to her friend talk. "I think we found what we're looking for."
"Oh, no you don't. We are not done with this conversation." Angel said with a small smile.
"Well for now we are," she said and picked up another box and put in their shopping cart and started to rush away from Angel.
"Lynn! Oh damn it!" Angel said trying to go after her but forgot about the shopping cart. She put the third box in it and started to hurriedly push the shopping cart going after Lynn. She wasn't done talking to her about Andy.
The two women found the three guys first and all five of them were off trying to find Ethan and Andy. They weren't in the tent aisle and Lynn tried calling Andy's phone but it went to her voicemail. Brian tried Ethan's cell phone at the same time and he picked up. Ethan told them that they were by the camping lanterns towards the back of the store. So they started to make their way over there. It took them a couple of minutes but they heard Ethan's voice and followed it.
When they found them Andy was on her cell phone with some one and Ethan told him that she's been on the phone with her dad for the last hour.
"Normally if it's this long, it's either family stuff, or something important. From what I've been hearing it's not advice about camping in the winter." Ethan told them. Then, he went on to explain about the camping lanterns and how they were going to get a few of them. Nothing too bulky just to help them have some more light since the fire would be great for lighting. But also just to be safe and to be able to find the site in the dark.
"Okay, love you too, thanks dad." Andy came up to them and smiled at Ethan.
"Everything okay?" He asked slowly and Andy nodded.
"Yeah just got two surprises is all." She said and she looked down at her phone and showed Ethan something.
His head shot up and looked at her, "Are you serious?!" She nodded and put a hand to her mouth and Ethan just wrapped his arms around her.
"Wait, wait, something else." She showed him something else on her phone and he looked at it and then this time it was more a confused look.
"This was the other Christmas gift my parents said I had to wait for."
"Andy this is awesome! When did she find out?"
"Last night. I didn't think it was going to happen, but I'm really, really, really excited!"
Ethan wrapped his arms around his best friend again and the five friends looked on with small smiles. They let go of each other and Andy wiped her eyes.
"This is truly the best Christmas ever." She said and they took the few steps back to the group.
Brian finally asked, "Okay, what's going on guys?"
"Well, at first I thought today was going to be horrible. From Kara telling us about Erika, then our manger asking us to cut our vacation short," Andy started to say.
"Is that why you were a little tense on the way here?" Angel asked and Andy nodded.
"But hold on, let's pay for this stuff and go out to lunch and we'll tell them then," Ethan suggested.
"Good idea. It would be easier to tell y'all what just happened." Andy said with a smile. Lynn walked up to her and took her hand intertwining their fingers and giving her a small squeeze.
"I've noticed your Southern twang comes out when you're excited. It's cute. I can't wait to hear what happened." She gave her a kiss on the cheek and the seven of them started to walk towards the front of the store to pay for their stuff.
Andy couldn't wait to share the news with her new friends.
**************************************************************************
The hostess showed them to their table and everyone started to take off their coats. Andy helped Lynn out of hers and pulled the chair out for her. Then, took off her coat and sat down next to her. Luckily this was a round table and she didn't have to sit at the head of the table like always. She still didn't understand why she always ended up at the head of the table.
The young hostess gave them their menus and said that their server would be with them shortly. They thanked her and they all started to look through the menu deciding on what they wanted to eat for lunch.
"Andy! They have fried pickles!" Ethan said looking up from his menu and looked at her.
"Dude! Get them!" She and they gave each other a high five.
The others looked at them and shook their heads, "I swear sometimes you two can be teenagers." Brian said.
"And you and Alex can't." Angel said with smirk.
Brian and Alex looked at each other and nodded, "True." They said at the same time.
Ethan and Andy laughed at what Angel said.
"Well you know when you're young at heart." He said.
"I always say that you're not old until your dead and in the ground." Andy said looking back at her menu.
"That's one way of looking at life," Angel said and looked at Lynn with a big smile. She lifted her menu higher so her friend wouldn't see her blushing.
Their server came up to them and introduced herself, Mariah was her name. Ethan and Andy's head both shot up so quick and they both looked at each other and both let a small breath of relief. This didn't go unnoticed by Alex.
She asked them what she could get them to drink to start off. Everyone put in their orders and she jotted down what they wanted. Ethan asked for two baskets of fried pickles with extra sauce. The young brunette smiled and asked if anyone else wanted any appetizers and everyone shook their heads. She then put down a small black book that had the lunch specials in them. She said she would be back with their drinks and to take their orders.
Andy took the small black book and started to look through to see what they had for specials. Her and Ethan were talking about what they had and started to compare everything.
"So is this what it's like hanging out with you two at restaurants? Always comparing?" David asked with a small smirk.
"You know it!" Ethan said looking up at him. The two continued to look through the specials.
"Are you doing that thing?" Ethan asked Andy and she just nodded.
"You weirdo," he said and the two of them finally decided on what they wanted.
Mariah came back with their drinks and asked if they were ready. Everyone looked at each other and nodded. She smiled and Alex started off with his order.
Andy was the last one to give her order. Mariah smiled and collected their menus just as another server came up put down two small baskets of fried pickles, and small plates. Mariah thanked the server as he walked away. She looked at the seven of them and said that she would be back with their salads.
Ethan wasted no time on the fried pickles. He grabbed a basket and put it between him and Andy.
"You miss Rick's don't you." Andy said with a small laugh as she put sugar in her mug of coffee.
"Dude we HAVE to have our going away party there. Or at least our last drunken night there." He said as he was dipping a fried pickle into the sauce.
"I mean obviously we're having the party at Mary's. Just gotta send out the invites." She said as she put creamer into her coffee and stirred it.
"Okay, Andy, what happened back at the store?." David asked taking a sip of his soda.
Andy took a sip of her coffee and smiled. She looked around at the six of them and pulled out her phone. She found the picture she was looking for and then put her phone down on the table.
"Okay, as you know my mom is Filipino, and for the last six years or so she's been trying to adopt my cousins from the Philippines. To bring them over here to have a better life. Every year it just seemed that there was a set back. One of them just happened last year where the oldest was too old to adopt, but my mom kept pushing.
Another set back was that her brother's girlfriend just gave birth to a son, around the same time they found out about the oldest. But my mom kept pushing."
"Have you ever been to the Philippines?" Lynn asked.
Andy shook her head, "I mean I was born there. Spent my first birthday there but I haven't been back. I told my mom that I want to go there when I turn thirty. Which will happen next year."
"That's a great way to spend your big three oh," Angel said taking a fried pickle.
Andy nodded and continued, "So with the time difference my parents woke up to a call really late last night. The adoption agency came through and my parents are able to FINALLY adopt my cousins."
"That's amazing!"
"Congratulations!"
"I'm so happy for you!"
"That's awesome!"
"Great Christmas gift!"
"Wow!"
Everyone said at once and Lynn took Andy's hand in hers and leaned in to kiss her cheek but Andy turned her head and their lips met for a few seconds.
"That was not my intention but I'm glad I turned my head." Andy said with a small chuckle and Lynn playfully hit her on the arm.
"Here's a picture of them," she handed her cell phone to Alex first.
"They're so cute!" He said and passed to David. Her phone made its way around the table stopping at Lynn and she couldn't help but smile at the picture of them and then gave Andy her phone back.
"Okay, what's the second thing?" Brian asked.
Andy looked at the picture one more time and then lifted her head and cleared her throat, "Well it turned out I had Great Aunt in Orange County, California. I've never met her, the only contact I've EVER had with her was when she sent me a check for five hundred dollars for my graduation. Anyway, turned out she passed away a couple of weeks ago."
Everyone around the table started to give her their condolences. Andy smiled, "Thank you guys, but like I said I didn't know her. But it turned out she never had a daughter and I was like her first ever great niece or something. Anyway, I guess she wrote me, my sister, and my cousin Kayla into her will and left the three of us an insane amount of money. Like so much that I wouldn't have to work for at least five years."
"Holy shit!"
"WHAT?!"
"Are you serious?!"
"Uhh, say what now?!"
"Looks like lunch is on you!"
"Well fuck!"
The six of them said and Ethan looked at his best friend and smiled. Andy looked back at him and shook his head.
"What are you going to do with all the money?" Lynn asked.
Andy took another sip of her coffee and looked at her, then around the table and took in a deep breath and let it out.
"Well, I'm gonna give some of it to my mom to help bring my new brothers and sisters over. Pay off my medical bills that I still have. Maybe invest some of it into my Uncle's restaurants. The rest I'm gonna put away and I guess just keep adding to it little by little."
"What about jump starting your music career?" Alex asked. Andy looked at him and thought about it for a few moments.
"I could, but I'm more into making and creating music rather than singing. I mean I like different types of music and I can't just pick a genre. My BIG dream would be to start a record label that would have artist put what ever type of music they want on their albums. Not have just country, or just pop, or just rock. Have like a mix of everything."
"So kind of like a compellation album but with one artist." Alex said.
Andy nodded, "Sort of like that. I don't know though, I just feel like every artist has more than just one type of genre. Like country can go into pop, and pop can go into rock and vice versa. I feel like they shouldn't be restricted."
"That's a very interesting way of looking at the music industry." Brian said just as Mariah came back with their salads. She gave them each a salad and then picked up the empty small plates, and the two small baskets. She said she would be back to refill their drinks and to enjoy.
The next few sounds were the sounds of silverware clattering as everyone started to eat their salads. Lynn watched as Andy picked off some the vegetables and she shook her head. Andy set them aside and started to eat her salad. Brian looked up and noticed this too.
"Okay, Andy, you just picked off half of your salad what gives?" He asked with a small chuckle
"She did the same thing at dinner last night," Lynn piped up.
Andy shrugged, "I don't like olives, I don't like green peppers, and I don't like onions."
"Unless the onions are diced small enough to where she can't taste them." Ethan chimed in.
"Do you have your medicine?" Ethan leaned over and asked Andy who nodded.
"Yeah, about to take it after the salad."
Ethan nodded and leaned back over.
"Hey so where we all staying tonight?" Alex asked.
"Well, I was thinking we could all stay over at Andy and Ethan's." Brian said looking at the two of them.
They looked at each other and shrugged, "Yeah, we have the room. Plus we could put all the camping stuff there too." Andy told them.
"This for the New York Trip?" David asked and everyone nodded.
"After here I can take everyone home so they can get an overnight bag and then, I'll drop them off at your place." David offered.
"That would be amazing. Thank you." Lynn said looking at her brother who just smiled back.
Mariah came back with their meals and everyone started to put their empty salad bowls together to make it easier for her. Once everyone had their plates in front of them Mariah asked if they needed anything else. They looked around and shook their heads. They smiled at her and everyone thanked her at different moments. She also refilled their drinks and said that she would be back to check on them.
"I don't think I'll need me medicine for this," Andy said leaning over to Ethan.
He looked at her plate and shrugged, "Maybe take it just in case?" Andy nodded and turned in her chair and took out her pill bottle from her coat pocket. She opened it and took out one of the small pills. She closed it back up and put it back into her coat pocket. She quickly popped it into her mouth and turned back in her chair and took a sip of her water.
They all continued to make conversation about New York while eating their lunch. Mariah came over to ask if they needed anything and they all shook their heads. She also asked how everything was and everyone said things were good around the same time.
Andy wiped her mouth with her napkin and threw it on her plate. She pushed her plate away from her and let out a deep breath, "Damn, I'm ready for a nap," she said and everyone laughed.
"Andy?" They all heard and she looked up and her eyes widened slightly. A girl with short black hair, glasses and freckles was standing there with her uniform on. From the looks of it she was a server at the restaurant. Everyone looked at Ethan and he shook his head indicating to them that he didn't know who she was either.
"Uh, hi, Vicki," she said with a surprised tone. Not wanting to be rude she stood up and walked around the table and gave the shorter girl a hug.
They pulled away from each other, "It's good to see you! How long has it been?" Vicki asked.
Andy cleared her throat, "Uh, nine years?"
That's when Lynn made a small connection, "Her ex fiance?" She whispered to herself but Angel who sitting next to her heard her and turned her head.
"What?" She mouthed and Lynn waved her off.
"Well you look really good!" Vicki said placing a hand on her arm.
Andy nodded, "Yeah, uh you too. So you live around here now?"
"Yeah, me and my wife moved up here a few years ago. Just had to get out of Virginia, ya know?"
Andy nodded, "Yeah, yeah." She said, and Lynn could tell she was getting uncomfortable.
"What have you been up to?"
Andy wanted to keep it short so she just gave her the short version, "Oh you know the same old, same old. Met some one dated for five years, broke up, tore my ACL, met one of my favorite bands, moving to Georgia next month. You know, the usual stuff."
"Wow! So are you single?"
Andy looked at Lynn and that didn't go unnoticed by Vicki, "I'm sorry it's not my place."
"It's okay, and no I'm not I'm seeing someone actually," she said with her gaze still on Lynn.
Again this didn't go unnoticed by Vicki, "Well it was good to see you," she said and gave her another hug.
"Uh, yeah you too," Andy said returning the hug. They pulled away and Andy was about to walk back to her seat when Vicki touched her wrist and Andy looked at her with a confused look. Next thing she knew Vicki took out a pen and started to write something on her hand.
"That's my number if you ever want to keep in touch," she said as she finished up.
Andy gave her a small smile and nodded. "Good to see you Vicki," she said one more time and walked back to her seat. Vicki smiled and walked away.
Once she was out of sight, Andy took a piece of ice from her water glass and started to it on the palm of her hand.
"For fuck sake!" She said in a loud whisper trying to get the number off of her hand. Vicki was the last person she wanted to see. She took a napkin and rub it against her palm and saw that the numbers came off a little but not too much. Right now all she could think about was taking a very, very, long shower to get the 'Vickiness' off of her.
Mariah came back to clear up their empty plates and asked how they wanted to do their check. Before anyone could answer Andy said to put everything on one check. She nodded and said she would be right back.
"Andy, I got this," David offered.
Andy looked up, "No it's okay I go it."
The two went back and forth until Mariah came back with their check and Brian snatched from the table, "I got this. Andy you've done enough already. Let me get this." Andy looked at him and smiled.
"Well at least let me tip," she said and Brian shook his head as he put his credit card in the small booklet.
"Sorry, but I got that too." He said and put the booklet on the table.
"Plus you got a lot of explaining to do," he said with a smirk.
*******************************************************************************
"Okay, I think that's everything." Ethan said as he walked into the townhouse with the last box from the Jeep.
After lunch, they left the restaurant and went their separate ways. Ethan and Andy walked their five friends to David's Ford Explorer and she promised she would explain everything that just happened.
Once they reached David's car Andy gave Lynn a small kiss and a lingering hug. The two of them wanted a few more moments but Alex was complaining that he was cold and that they needed to pack. After a few laughs the two gave each other one more kiss and said that they would see each other soon.
When they got into David's Explorer Angel was the first to ask, "So, you think that's her ex fiance?" She asked as she put on her seatbelt in the backseat.
Lynn in the front seat nodded as she put on her seatbelt, "Yeah, she said it's been nine years since she's seen her. Andy's twenty nine, and remember earlier I said she was engaged when she was twenty?"
The three nodded, "Wait, Andy was engaged?" David asked as he started up his car.
Lynn nodded, "Let me explain." She told David about their date yesterday and after she was finished he had no words to say.
"Shit!" Alex said and they looked at him.
"What?" Brian asked.
"My car is still at their place," he explained.
"No worries, I'll ask if James came come with us and he can take your car back," Angel said pulling out her cell phone.
"Okay, tell me more about what happened." David said as he turned down the street to take them home.
Now, Andy and Ethan were getting the house ready for the four of them to come over. She explained to Ethan that Vicki was her ex fiance from a long time ago, and that she hasn't seen or heard from her since their last hook up nine years ago. Ethan asked if she was able to get the number off of her hand and she looked.
Ethan saw that it was now just a blur, but he could still make out the numbers. Andy said that even though she had a shower she's going to take another one. Then, throw the clothes that she had on in the wash. Because just the thought of having Vicki touch her was bothering her. Ethan laughed and shook his head as he watched her go up the stairs. While she was getting ready to take a shower, he was putting their camping gear in one of the spare rooms downstairs.
It didn't take him too long to finish putting everything away. Once he was done he walked into the living room and put the couch back together. They left without being able to clean up from last night. He looked around and started to clean up around the living room and let out a sigh. He was still a little freaked out about Alex. He wasn't sure what to think at this point. Sure he had a crush on him and maybe last night and this morning was just an accident. He really wasn't expecting Alex's arm around him.
He had a feeling that Alex wanted to talk to him. But he just wasn't ready, because he was scared. He didn't want to loose the friendship they just started to have. He wanted to continued their friendship and he really didn't want this to stop it.
He finished cleaning up the remains of last night and took out the trash. He was just about to go back into the townhouse when he heard his name being called. He turned around and saw David pull up. He smiled and walked over to greet everyone.
Once David parked Ethan asked if they needed help with anything and Brian handed Ethan a bag and he grabbed two others.
"Um, you're staying the one night," he said in a confused tone.
"Oh, I know, this is Angel's stuff. She said since we're going to be in New York City, she has to look her best," he said rolling his eyes.
Ethan raised his eyebrows and nodded slowly after saying, "Oookkaaayy then." Alex gave James his keys and told him thank you for driving his car back to his place. They hugged and James went to Alex's car and started it up. Alex waved as he watched his friend drive away and started to follow the group to go inside the townhome.
David gave his sister a hug and told her to be safe tomorrow. She thanked him and told him that she loved him and he did the same. He gave a hug to everyone and got back into his car and drove away.
Once inside, Ethan told Brian and Angel they could take the spare room next to Andy's and Alex could have the pull out couch tonight. They all nodded and he told Lynn that she knew where Andy's room was and that she could find her way there. She laughed and playfully hit him on the arm.
"Where is Andy anyway?" Alex asked as put his bag down and sat down on the couch. Ethan walked over to the coffee table and turned on the TV.
"She's taking a shower. She said that she had to the 'Vickiness' off of her."
"Well I can't wait to hear this story," Alex said as he sat back and put his hands behind his head.
Lynn walked into Andy's room and put down her bag on the floor. She took off her coat and tossed it onto the bed just as Andy entered the room freshly showered, and wearing a tank top and bright orange basketball shorts. She was still drying her hair with a towel as she walked in.
"There you are," Lynn said with a smile.
Andy looked up and smiled, "Geez, you guys got here quick." She said walking up to her and gave her a kiss.
She dropped the towel and wrapped her arms around Lynn's waist just as Lynn wrapped her arms around Andy's neck. Andy picked her up and gently put Lynn on the bed. This was just supposed to be a simple kiss, but it started to become just as intense as last night's kiss.
Andy pulled her closer and started to kiss Lynn's jawline and then down to her neck. She heard her let out a soft moan. Andy wanted all of her, she just wanted to worship her and show her what she's worth. Just as she was about to put her hand under her shirt they heard some one knocking.
"I would say get a room but, you two are already in one," they heard and they pulled away from each other. Only to see Ethan standing there with a goofy grin on his face.
"Shut up Ethan!" They both said and Andy got up rushed over to him. He let out a little scream and ran away.
"Andy! Lynn! When you two are done making out, we would like for you to join us for a movie!" Brian called up to them.
Andy sighed and turned around looked at Lynn. Her heart was racing again, just like before and she crossed her arms and leaned against the door frame.
"One of these days we will have privacy. I wanna make good on what I said that night when I was in Georgia." She told her. Lynn stood up and walked over to her and put her arms around her waist.
"You remember that conversation?"
Andy nodded, "Every word," she kissed her forehead, "You go ahead, I'm gonna get some more clothes on and I'll be down in a few."
"What if I want you to stay the way you are?" Lynn said leaning in.
"I would, if my feet didn't get cold so easily." She said against her lips.
"Well that's why you have me sit on them." Their lips were so close that all Andy wanted to do was finish what they started just a few moments ago.
"What about my legs?"
"There's blankets downstairs."
Andy's head was spinning. It was taking all of her not to pin her against the wall and just take her.
"What about my arms?" At this point Andy started to slowly kiss Lynn's neck. Lynn closed her eyes and pulled Andy in close.
"I'll keep you warm."
"ANDY! LYNN! ANY DAY NOW!" They heard Ethan's voice and the two pulled away from each other.
"FINE!" Andy said after raising her head from Lynn's neck.
She kissed Lynn on the forehead, "I'll be down in a few." She said and Lynn nodded giving her a small kiss and reluctantly left Andy's arms.
She watched as she walked away and couldn't help but think these last couple of months have been the best months of her life. She couldn't wait to see what the next year would bring.
