Part XII
Epilogue
Another year had now passed; a spring was nearing an end as another brilliant summer approached. Tyson walked into his house, the smell of someone baking catching his attention as he took off his shoes. He headed into the kitchen, half expecting to find his wife standing in her apron. Instead he entered an empty kitchen and frowning slightly noticed the freshly baked cookies on the counter. He grabbed one and walked out, heading down the small deserted hallway. Pictures soon stared at him as memories flooded through his mind. Memories of his time spent with Piper, his wife. He soon spotted a picture of the two of them from the first tour they had shared. He smiled to himself, remembering how she had digitally taken her ex-boyfriend out of the picture. He’d never forget that tour. That was when he had first gotten together with Piper. He remembered how their relationship had gone down hill and then remembered the year he had left her; that had been the darkest year of his life. He pushed these thoughts out of his mind as he entered the blue-clouded wallpapered room and smiled, viewing his wife’s backside. He leaned against the doorframe, listening to her as she sang. The gentleness of her voice was soothing compared to the pounding drumbeats he had just left. He knew the song well, as they had written it together. Soon, silence filled the room as Tyson walked behind her, placing his arms about her waist. She was somewhat started, and turned in his embrace, smiling upon realizing it was who it was.
“When’d you get home?” She asked in a hushed tone. He smiled, pulling her closer to him.
“A few minutes ago. We got finished a little early. We recorded the new demo. Nick wanted to get it sent to DreamWorks in a hurry so we can record it and get it on the radio.” He had referred to band practice at Nick’s house. He then remembered the taste of the cookie he had just eaten and knew that Piper only baked for Christmas and company. “The cookies you made taste great by the way.” He stated receiving a playful punch in the arm from Piper.
“Yeah, well, you keep your hands away from those cookies. You know I only bake for company. They’re for our family when they come down.” They exchanged a short sweet kiss and then peered over the small wooden cradle, which stood before them.
“Pipes, did you just lay him down?” he questioned, more or less knowing the answer. She nodded, her eyes shining with love. They both turned their gaze again to their now sleeping son.
“I was gonna wait for you, but he was super cranky and was in desperate need of a nap.” They both laughed slightly as they watched their newborn son as he slept. Piper carefully reached over to the baby monitor and switched it on. She proceeded to take Tyson’s hand leading him slowly out of the room and leaving their son to a peaceful sleep. Even their son, whom they loved more then live itself, was born in spring; the month that seemed to bind them together for eternity.
