Ville was once again sitting on his balcony smoking a cigarette. It was four am and he was wondering what he was going to do about Davey. He’d barely spoken to him in a week and a half. Ten long, miserable, awkward, tense, horrible days. But he had no idea what to say. How did you tell the man you loved that you were one of the creatures he’d spent his whole life trying to destroy?
It was driving him mad and making him very unpleasant to be around.
Frank joined him out on the balcony and lit a cigarette of his own, “What’s up man?”
“What are you doing home so early?” Ville asked, leaning back.
Frank shrugged, “Nothing much happening tonight. Wednesdays are always a little slow.” He propped his sneakers up on the table, “So do you want to go get some food with me?”
Ville paused, cigarette halfway to his lips, “You hate going places with me.”
“That’s because you yell at me, in Finnish.” He snorted.
“So then why do you want to go get some food?”
“Because you’ve spent the last two weeks moping around the house and I thought I would be a nice guy and ask you if you wanted to go out and not sit here for another night.” Frank huffed, “Fuck! I try to be a good friend and look what happens!” he pouted, puffing on his cigarette.
Ville’s heart melted a little, “I’m sorry. Usually there’s a more sinister motive for, well, everything, you do.”
Frank grinned. If Ville only knew, “So you in or not?”
“I’m in.”
Frank found Davey sitting on the back porch and sat down with him, “Hey Davey. What’s going on?”
Davey jumped, “Shit Frankie! You scared me!” he grabbed his heart.
Frank wiggled his eyebrows, “That’s cause I’m,” he assumed a ninja pose, “stealthy.”
Davey laughed. He wasn’t sure how it happened, but the spastic vampire had become his friend and he was continuing to put off killing him, “What’s up?”
“Well I was going to go to Denny’s and I thought I’d see if you wanted to come.” He did not add that Ville would be meeting him there.
Frank had had enough of Ville and Davey not talking. They spoke, exchanging the barest minimum of words allowed by polite society to get their points across, but nothing more than that. Frank had counted the day before and Ville had said exactly ten words to Davey, the whole day. So Frank had come up with the master plan to get them in the same place together and forcing them to talk.
“Yeah sure.” It beat sitting alone thinking about a way to get Ville to speak to him again.
“Great!” Frank grinned and jumped up, “Let’s go!” he ran back into the house.
Davey shook his head and followed.
Frank ran into the door at Denny’s, holding it open for Davey and scanning the restaurant. He spotted Ville sitting in a booth by the back window and smiled to himself.
Davey saw Ville as well and turned to Frank, “You sneaky bastard.”
Frank winked at him and pulled him over o the table, shoving him in the seat and plopping down next to Ville so there was no escape, “Hiya!”
Ville glared at Frank, “I should have known.” He shook his head and started cursing at him under his breath, in Finnish.
“Now now, don’t be like that.” Frank threw his arms around Ville and kissed his cheek, “I only want what’s best for you.” With those words, he stood and rushed out of the joint, leaving Ville with Davey and Davey with no ride home.
Davey gaped after him, “He just left.” His head followed Frank’s truck as it pealed out of the parking lot, cutting off three people in the process.
Ville inhaled deeply, “Yeah, I’m sure that was his plan all along. I wondered why he asked me to meet him here instead of riding with me.” He glared at Davey, “He wants us to start talking again because he doesn’t know the reason I can’t manage to be civil to you is that you want to murder him.”
Davey sighed, “It’s not murder.”
“You sound like a fucking Nazi.”
“What?” he looked shocked.
“Yeah, the Nazi’s killed a whole bunch of people just because they were Jewish and you want to kill him just because he’s not human. Like a fucking Nazi.”
“That’s not fair!”
“You mean trying to kill vampires just because you think they’re abominations doesn’t sound similar at all to you?” he looked incredulous.
“No! That was a horrible genocide of innocent people.”
“And every vampire you killed committed a crime? How many do you think you killed that were just trying to live, not killing people or doing anything wrong?” Ville noticed that the six other people in the place were staring and he lowered his voice, “How can you hate so blindly?”
To Ville’s shock, Davey laid his head on the table and gave a defeated sigh, “I don’t know Ralph. I’ve never actually hung out with a vampire before.” His voice was muffled by the Formica, “All I was ever taught was how awful they were, killing people, living off money they stole from victims, spreading their disease to the planet. I’m so confused because everything I’ve ever been told doesn’t apply to Frankie. I like him as a person, and I’ve never thought about vampires as people.” Tears leaked from his eyes, creating black tinted pools on the table top.
Ville’s heart cracked a little, “So then why would you still want to kill him?” he whispered.
“Because I’m supposed to!” he wailed, “It’s all I’ve ever known!” he looked up at Ville, misery radiating off him, “I don’t know what to do.”
Ville got up and went over to Davey’s side of the booth, wrapping his arms around him, “You can leave the organization, can’t you?”
Davey shook his head, using a napkin to wipe his face, “No. It’s not that easy. I’d be killed if they found out I knew of a vampire and did nothing. I could be killed right now for not reporting his existence.” He sniffed, “They’re already upset that I haven’t found the vampire doing all the killing.”
Ville hugged Davey tighter, scared for his love, in spite of all that happened.
Pete watched them through the window from the parking lot. That vampire was holding Davey. His heart had leapt for joy when it appeared they had some kind of fight. For the last few weeks while he watched the house, Ville and Davey were rarely in the same room together, and they were never alone, or embracing.
And now they had appeared to patch things up. He growled and thought of all the horrible ways he would enjoy harming Ville for laying hands on what was his.
His hands gripped the steering wheel tighter as they got up to leave, walking to Ville’s car with their arms around each other. Davey planted a quick kiss on Ville’s lips before getting in and Pete cracked the plastic.
“I’ve got to kill him.” He said through gritted teeth, “That’s the only solution. I’ll kill him and play with his entrails. Then there will be nothing in my way.” He grinned maniacally and pulled into traffic after Ville’s car, following them back to their house where he parked and waited.
Ville pulled into the driveway and noticed that Frank wasn’t at home yet. It was a good thing too. He was going to beat the crap out of that meddling little shit.
“Do you think I’d do any damage if I punched Frank in the face?” Davey mused aloud, echoing Ville’s thoughts, “I mean I’m glad he stuck his nose in and all, but it’s none of his business.”
Ville grinned at him, “Who cares? It would be a most satisfying event no matter if it hurts him or not.”
As soon as they got into the house, Davey pounced on Ville, grabbing fistfuls of his hair and dragging his face closer to his, crushing their lips in a kiss.
Ville let out all the pent up lust from the past weeks in the kiss, caressing Davey’s tongue with his, running his hands up the other man’s shirt to feel the muscle underneath, sliding one hand down the back of Davey’s pants.
Davey moaned into Ville’s mouth and yanked his head back, “Oh God, upstairs.” He gasped.
He and Ville all but ran upstairs into Ville’s room, shutting the door behind themselves and continuing the feverish embrace as if it hadn’t been broken.
Davey unbuttoned Ville’s shirt and pushed it off his shoulders, whipping his own over his head before Ville could get a chance to. Ville chuckled lightly and kicked off his shoes. Davey worked his off as the walked back to the bed, tripping and landing on it hard, Ville’s elbow digging painfully into his side.
“Ouch!” he laughed and flipped them over so he straddled Ville, kissing him again. He kissed his way down Ville’s chin and paused at his neck, biting and sucking, not caring about leaving marks. Ville writhed underneath him, clawing at his back. Davey trailed his kissed lower and lower until he was at the waistband of Ville’s pants. Grinning up at him, he undid the button with his teeth and yanked them off, taking the beautiful cock into his moth without pausing for air.
“Fuck!” Ville cried out and tangled his hand in Davey’s hair as his head bobbed up and down. He arched his back and tried not to choke Davey by thrusting to hard. The whimper he let out when Davey’s mouth left him surprised him a little.
Davey only smiled seductively and reached out to the nightstand. He grabbed the bottle of lube and slicked it all down Ville’s length before tossing his own pants across the room. He bit his lip, raising on his knees and lowering himself inch by inch onto his lover’s cock, “Oh.” He gasped when he’d taken all of Ville in.
Ville’s hands fisted in the sheets as he struggled to wait until Davey was ready. He moaned when Davey began to move and bucked his hips, forcing Davey to meet him faster. His eye rolled back in his head as he wrapped his hand around the younger man’s dick and started pumping.
Before long they were glistening with sweat and the bed was hitting the wall with a rhythmic thudding that provided a fitting beat to the moans and grunts escaping both men.
“Oh God Ralph!” Davey cried.
“Fuck, don’t, say, that!” Ville gasped, dragging a hand through his own hair.
Davey didn’t hear him, or it didn’t register through the fog of pleasure. He dug his nails into Ville’s chest as his whole body tightened, “Shit!” he came, muscles vibrating and taking Ville over the edge with him.
He lay down next to Ville and kissed him, “I missed you.”
Ville smiled and kissed him gently, turning on his side, “I missed you too.” He sat up, pushing Davey back down, “Stay here. I’m just going to have a smoke.” He kissed the tip of his nose and went outside without bothering to put on any clothes.
Davey sighed and enjoyed the view.
Ville sighed the sigh of the utterly content and lit a cigarette. He leaned over the railing and looked out at the night. A dark blur running across the lawn caught his attention. He tossed his cigarette and returned inside, pulling on his jeans. Dave was sleeping in the bed, breathing softly with a small smile on his face.
Ville smiled at the sight and kissed him lightly before going down stairs and into the backyard. He paused on the edge of the porch and looked around, expecting to find a cat or possum. The man who stepped out of he bushes scared the hell out of him.
“What the fuck?” he gasped, holding his chest.
Pete stepped into the light, “Hello Ville.”
“What the hell are you doing lurking in my yard?” he narrowed his eyes and wished Frank or Roxy was home.
Pete just grinned. He vanished.
Ville looked around frantically, not willing to go inside incase the psycho vampire followed him. He walked out into the yard, stopping when he reached the row of rose bushes planted by the fence. A sharp pain in the back of the head was the only warning he had before tumbling face first into the bushes.
Pete snarled and picked up Ville’s limp form, tossing him over his shoulder and carrying him to his car. He threw the Finn into the trunk and sped off.
