The storm didn't slow down, didn't stop and everyone who was inside, safe and warm, pitied the unfortunate ones who weren't as lucky.... like Bill...

Bill felt so cold. He couldn’t stop shivering from it, the cold vicious wind in the air was most certainly not helping.
He suddenly had an ingenious plan as he looked up to see lightning coming down not to far from the park. He searched for a piece of wood that wasn’t drenched of the rain. After a few minutes that seemed like hours he found a branch that been torn apart from a three.
Picking it up with his left arm he felt something slimy on the palm of his hand. He shuddered. He so didn’t want to know what it was, besides he was dirty all over so some more dirt wouldn’t kill him. Desperate times call for desperate measures although he had hoped it would never come this far.
“If I ever get back in the hotel first thing I do is take a shower…well, after I jumped Tomi.”
With the branch in his hand he walked out of the park toward where he had seen the fire before. Still slightly limping he silently walked into the abandoned street. Nearing the fire he held out the branch in it trying to lit it.
“Come on…” shifting from one foot to the other he impatiently looked around. He didn’t really felt comfortable. Finally the branch caught fire.
Trying to walk fast to the park he tried to make sure the fire didn’t go out. As he reached his shelter again he heard the police sirens. This time they were a bit further away from him but he still couldn’t pinpoint from where it exactly came. He tried to put some other branches in fire so he could create a ‘campfire’ and surprised himself with succeeding in it. Now that he had a small fire he hoped he would be a bit warmer now and sat down close to it.

He couldn’t stop running. Tom knew that he eventually would have to stop running at a certain point but he didn’t want to. To stop meant that he wouldn’t be searching for his Bill and that just wasn’t acceptable. He was afraid that every minute was crucial. What if his baby brother was indeed still underneath that building….
Bill would think he had abandoned him. That alone drove Tom to run even faster. Turning another corner he saw the streets started to change. The building began to look more old and unkept.
He slowed down he had to be careful now. He had to look at every detail because it could lead him to Bill. After a few minutes he heard a small noise at his right. “Please let it be Bill!” He thought.
And out of nowhere a fist almost hit him in the face. Taking a step back he evaded the man. The man stumbled and Tom saw something that made his heart to stop beating. His attacker was wearing one of his Bill’s bracelets. His eyes darkened, full with rage. He could recognise the bracelet from anywhere, it was the one he had bought for Bill for new-year.
The man was either very drunk or very stupid to try to punch Tom again. He never saw it coming…
Tom punched him so hard in the face that his own knuckles hurt from it but that didn’t stop him to punch him again. Grabbing the man by the shoulders he almost threw him into the wall. Gott to think that this thing touched his baby.
“WHERE IS HE!!!!” But the man couldn’t answer him. Seems like he punched him to hard, not that he cared. He deserved whatever he gave him and more.
“I said Where Is He!” Slamming the man against the wall.
“…..who….”
“My brother you sick fuck!!”
And Tom ripped of the bracelet, holding it up in front of the man’s face.
“I don’t know…” The guy had trouble speaking and after Tom’s next punch they both heard a loud crack of a jaw breaking.
“WHERE!!!!” Finally the man gained a bit sense or he realised that Tom could very well kill him and he pointed to his left. Tom gave him a last kick in the stomach before leaving. “That’s for my baby brother!”
Not looking back once he walked into the direction the man pointed.
He felt it. He felt his brother. He was so close but he didn’t see him. Tom walked into the street where Bill had limped out of merely 2 hours ago. He stepped over the debris of the buildings. Looking around he recognised the street from the photo’s he had seen. He started to move some rocks but the wind made it difficult and made his hands slip away. The wind was so furious that when he stood still he almost was blown away by it.
“To think that Bill walked in this… he probably complained about the hair…” Tom had to grin at his thought. Everybody knew that his brother’s hair was his pride and joy, well… next to his make-up and skin products.
“Damn..” He couldn’t find anything to show where his little brother could be.
“Think…where in this hell hole would he go? Come on think like Bill…” For some reason he couldn’t think like his brother for he would never come in a place like this.
The only thing he would, even if he hated the insects, rather go to a park then this dump…. “Oh”
Tom slapped his head. “Why didn’t I think of this earlier!” He groaned. He should’ve known from the start that his little brother would go there….
Standing he searched the skyline, looking for threes so he could go in the right direction. After searching for a few minutes he spotted some threes and started to run fast toward it.
His heartbeat quickened as he neared it. He could see a small fire from the entrance with a person sitting next to it.
“Please be Bill, let it be Bill …. my baby bro…..” he pleaded in himself. He unsurely walked forward slowly. He didn’t want to be hallucinating… he wanted it to be Bill! Slowly, step by step he walked closer to the fire and the person sitting next to it.
Tom walked forward trying to decipher if it was really Bill sitting there. He watched the slight tilt to the head of the figure and something gave in his chest. Some knot of tension that he barely recognised as despair.
Maybe Tom made a noise, or maybe it was divine intervention, because the figure turned towards him, unerringly picking him out in the early evening gloom. Tom stopped, heart thumping painfully, the hand resting stiffly at his side damp with the sweat of anxiety. Now, though, the light of the flames cast a shadow across the features of whoever it was and Tom was no closer to identifying him than he was before.
Just as he began to walk forward once more, a faint, “Tomi?” carried to him and he stopped again, breath caught in his throat.
Bill!
The knot of tension that had been coiled in his chest died, liberated into relief with just that one word. There was hope in Bill’s tone and Tom’s heart cried out in response.
The breath he held was released in a whoosh of air and a soft cry as he forced his legs onwards. He saw Bill moving towards him and as he drew closer and was able to see his face, their eyes met and held. Eyes searching and finding what was lost. When they finally came together, they stopped mere inches apart, and stood still for a moment, Tom’s heart thumping loudly in his chest as he searched Bill’s face for answers.
Then, Bill smiled at him and most of his questions were answered in the curve of his mouth and the dancing lights in his eyes. Bill’s hands, for the first time since long without nailpolish, were making a mockery of his dreads and he pressed his body close and neither of them could stop touching the other.
He could hear whispered words, like ‘you came…,’ and ‘you searched for me…,’ that breathed life back into him, and he was sure that he replied with words like ‘of course I came…,’ and ‘not leaving you again…,’ but they were mostly lost in the giddy haze of realised hope.
He gently stroked his baby’s arms until his hands rested on his face. He felt the soft skin underneath his hands and slowly moved his thumbs. He felt Bill lean his face in the movement. “Bill…” he breathed making his Bill look at him. His eyes smiling up at him.
And slowly as if they didn’t want to break the magical moment they leaned forward………
