Never Get Drunk In Vegas
Shia and Nikki left Vegas along with Zac and Megan that same day giving Amanda and the others a brief summary of what had happened after they checked out of the hotel. Amanda had taken one look at Nikki’s hand and grimaced and shared a look of disbelief with Brittany. Elijah was hard pressed to not get up in LaBeouf’s face, but much to his surprise Zac warned him off saying Nikki was equally to blame just as much as Shia was, that one obviously did not get very far without the others input.
Shia had insisted Nikki was to drive back to LA with him, insisting he meant it when he told her that morning he was not letting her out of his sight until they were legally divorced. This meant Zac and Megan would be driving back in Zac’s Audi. Zac and Megan did not mind this arrangement if anything they honestly welcomed it if the atmosphere between the newlywed couple was anything to go by they wanted no part in it. They wanted to share such close quarters with the couple for hours on end even less, especially when there would be no one in sight nor any phone reception for several hundreds of miles.
Nikki was glowering darkly as she looked out of the window as the desert landscape whizzed pass them as they went along. Nikki refused to even take a single glance Shia’s way, whose whole attention was on the road in front of him. Nikki knew if she spared him even the smallest of glances she would surely end up reaching over to wrap her small hands around his throat and squeezing. This in return meant they would both end up dead from crashing rendering the need for a divorce totally unnecessary.
Both she and Shia had removed their wedding rings as soon as they had gotten in the car, all the while Shia grumbled about how it felt like the ring was burning a hole through his finger that he could practically feel it and loathed the feeling with a passion. Nikki secretly agreed with him not that she would ever admit it out aloud or to anyone else for that matter, that she agreed with anything that asshole thought. It was more than her pride and the entire fuckup and farce of a marriage was worth.
Shia was on his guard knowing Nikki was absolutely seething something fierce as she looked out of the window, stubbornly refusing even to glance his way. But then again he supposed that was a good thing as far as his health was concerned. He knew if she even glanced his way for a second that she would end up jumping him, he would not enjoy what her jumping him would entail. He figured she was just painfully itching to do him a serious and painful injury by her own hands.
The silence was all consuming and stifling as the saying went, so thick you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. The silence it was on the verge of reducing Shia to gritting and grinding his teeth in irritation. In order to prevent himself from opening his mouth and causing an argument, in return causing Nikki to get possibly physical with him and leading to him crashing his car, he reached forwards while keeping one hand on the wheel and switched on the radio.
There was a discussion going on and both continued to listen, only causing Shia quickly to come to a screeching halt as they heard what the guy on the radio said next. He just managed to stop at the side of the road out of the way of Zac who had been driving behind him the whole way. As soon as he switched the engine off both he and Nikki were cussing up a storm. They were unaware Zac had pulled up behind them worried that they were going to start fighting on the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere.
The guy on the radio said, “Transformers start Shia LaBeouf and Hairspray’s Nikki Blonsky, or should I say LaBeouf, were saw by the local press coming out of a hotel in Las Vegas with Zac Efron and Megan Fox.” Nikki and Shia seethed as they listened, “Oh, and get this, both were saw wearing wedding rings before Nikki got into the same car with Shia. And Fox, who was lacking an engagement ring was seen getting into Efron’s car.”
The guy sounded far too gleeful as he crowed, “Boys and girls, do you suppose those rings were real that Shia and Nikki were wearing, have they really been having a relationship on the sly, only for them to elope and go to Vegas and get hitched?”
By now Zac and Megan had gotten out of Zac’s car and were standing outside on Shia’s side of the car. Zac asked through the open window, “Why did you stop LaBeouf, surely you and Nikki could at least restrain yourselves long enough to not try and off the other in the middle of nowhere, honestly?” Megan rolled her eyes and exchanged and knowing and exasperated glance with Zac.
Nikki just silently pointed to the radio just as Zac and Megan started to listen as well, the guy said, “What do you think is with Zac Efron and Megan Fox getting into a car, just the two of them alone? Surely Zac is not over the whole dramatic split of Zanessa yet?” He added, “And as for Megan Fox where is that engagement ring of hers? Wonder what Brian Green must think of his fiancée off in Vegas and without her engagement ring on her finger and getting into a car alone with another man that is not him?”
Now it was Zac and Megan’s turn to start angrily cussing, no wonder Shia and Nikki had stopped. Zac was certain Shia would have crashed the car in a fit of rage if he had not stopped when he had, not that Zac could honestly blame him it was so fucking intrusive and so not right. Megan’s thoughts were similar to Zac’s, she too was glad Shia had stopped when he had to.
Shia switched off the radio and lowered his head onto the steering wheel as he all but roared, “Fucking good for nothing fucktard.” Nikki looked ill as she stared at the now silent radio. Was there anything secret anymore, was there nothing that would not be made public gossip? Shia was so enraged that he could barely think at all, it was like his rage at that moment was all consuming.
Megan looked like she was close to tears but they were tears of rage. She spat, “What else did that son of a bitch say before I and Zac reached the car?” Zac added, “Yeah, what other slanderous shit did he spew out of his foul trap he calls a mouth?” Nikki swallowed hard before snarling heatedly in reply, “I and Shia never removed our wedding rings until we reached his car, obviously we can’t even go to Las Vegas without the paps there fucking snapping pictures of us and notifying radio stations.”
Shia lifted his face from the steering wheel and growled clearly incensed, “They fucking saw our wedding rings they know we are married, even went as far as to start calling Nikki LaBeouf as well. They think that we have been having a relationship on the sly and eloped to Vegas to get hitched. Hell, imagine if those nosey bastards ever caught wind of what truly happened.” Nikki felt like her blood suddenly run cold in horror at the very thought of such a thing ever happening. She would never have a moment’s peace ever again, nor would Shia for that matter either.
Zac and Megan looked at them in horror as they realised the whole situation had just officially gone to hell in a hand basket. Not only that, they too would have their names and personal business splattered all over the internet and news along with Nikki and Shia’s. All of it if not most of it would be bullshit in the extremist sense. Half the time bullshit was all those bastards had to report, no one gave a shit about the truth as long as it was nothing about them.
Zac said, “You do realise the four of us are going to have to get onto our managers and are going to have to make public appearances and tell them how it really is. We’ll have to do some serious damage control between the four of us.” Megan nodded in agreement as she said coldly, “I refused to allow those bastards to drag all of our names through the fucking mud. We are going to tell the world how it truly is before those fucktards can destroy our reputations with a load of lies.”
Nikki silently nodded truly hating to admit both Zac and Megan were right. The four of them would have to come clean themselves instead of letting the paps and radio stations to keep on running their names and reputations through the mud. She had never honestly detested the paps and radio DJ’s more so than she did right then.
Shia sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose and said, “Your right, unfortunately, we will have to wait until we reach LA before either of us can ring our managers as it is close to impossible to get a signal out in the middle of the fucking desert. Fuck I would not mind staying right here if it did not mean we would die of starvation and dehydration eventually.”
Zac cringed as he knew he would received one hell of a foul reception for what he was about to suggest, from Shia in particular he knew from just seeing how volatile his temper from just listening to the radio had been. “You two need to put your rings back on as the press cannot know how you really came to be married. You’re going to have to go along with the secret relationship and the eloping to Vegas to marry scenario, the only good thing that nosey jackass did by giving us the idea however unwittingly.”
Shia cussed as he scowled up at the sky, while Nikki was seething as she opened the glove compartment. She reached inside and searched the contents for a few moments before removing her hand and closing the compartment then took her own ring and placed it very reluctantly back onto her left hand. She handed Shia his and watched knowingly as he scowled darkly and accepted the ring and practically rammed it back onto his finger, clenching and unclenching his hand in anger.
Zac and Megan cringed as they exchanged a nervous glance quickly making their escape back to Zac’s Audi, which Shia took as his cue to restart the car and put it into gear before driving forwards. Zac and Megan followed not far behind.
