Ben: “Why? Why are you doing this to me?” Sam sobbed sown the phone. I sighed. “Look, Sam. I’m sorry. There’s… someone else.” “Who? What does she have that I don’t?” “Well, first off: It’s not a girl. Y-“ “WHAT!? So, what: You’re GAY now?” She literally spat the word “gay”. “You, deserve better than me, anyway, Sam. You know as well as I do that there’s been other girls that I’ve fucked on tour. We never had a real relationship. Find someone who’ll give you what I didn’t.” I hung up before she could answer. I let out a shaky breath. Is that what people will react like? Is that how people will view us? I’m not gonna lie: it hurt when she said “gay” the way that she did. She might have just said it like that because she was hurt, herself. I’m sure most girls would be pretty upset if their boyfriend had just broken up with them for a guy. I wonder how Myca took it… I was just about to return to the bus when James stepped out. He looked pretty flustered. He pulled out a cigarette and held it between his lips as he pulled out a lighter. “You alright, mate?” I asked him. He shook his head and took a long drag of his cigarette once it had been lit. “You want one?” He said offering me the packet and lighter. I took one and lit it, eyeing James carefully. “What’s up, James?” He looked at the floor and shook his head. “I did something stupid, that’s what.” He exhaled deeply; smoke blurring my view of his face which made it difficult to read his emotions. “Why, what did you do?” I heard a sniff from James. “James? Are-are you crying?” I grabbed James and positioned him so that I could see his face clearly, an – sure enough – there were tears streaming down his face. This was the first time that I had ever seen James cry (sure I’d seen him cry when he was drunk, but never sober). “James, what’s happened?” He shook his head and tried to wipe the tears from his face. “You wouldn’t understand. You don’t love someone who obviously doesn’t love you back. It worked out fine for you and Danny! But I can’t get such luck, can I?” “Wait, what are you talking about, mate?” I was really confused now. “I told Sam! I told him that I love him and he didn’t say anything back! He obviously doesn’t feel the same way!” My jaw dropped. James loves Sam? When the fuck did this happen? I closed my mouth and tried to make sense of everything. “Well, just because he didn’t say anything doesn’t mean that he doesn’t feel the same way. He’s most probably in shock. I know I was when I found out about Danny.” I was babbling, trying to calm James down – but telling him every word of the truth. I was shocked when I read the songs that Danny had written. In fact, I had just laid there staring at the words on the screen, most probably with my mouth wide open in shock, for the most of an hour. James was still trying to brush frantically the tears that were now flowing freely down his face. Poor bloke. I guess Danny had had it easy with me: he was asleep when I found out so he didn’t need to deal with the awkward shock of it all. I pulled James into a hug and continued my babbling to try and sooth him. I swear to God, this is way too much drama for one morning.
