Chapter 12: New York City
Andy let out a small groan when she heard her alarm go off. She turned over and reached towards the nightstand to stop the jingle that was coming from her phone. She let out a breath and rubbed her face in her hands. It was still dark out and she checked her phone for the time and read two forty five. She gently threw the covers off of her and sat up, swinging her legs over and rested her elbows on her knees and ran her fingers through her hair.
She sniffled a little bit and then heard a small sigh come from the other side of the bed. She smiled as she turned her body to see Lynn sleeping peacefully. The moonlight was coming through the blinds just right and it was reflecting off of her dyed blonde hair making it seem like it was silvery white. It was also giving this slight shimmer that was bouncing off of her cheeks.
Andy couldn't help but lean in and softly kiss her forehead. Lynn sighed again and started to move closer towards her but Andy backed away. The car to take them to the train station was coming at four, and everyone was going to wake up around three fifteen.
But Andy wanted to get an early start. Since she took two showers yesterday she didn't take one like everyone else did the night before.
She stood up, picked up her cell phone off of the night stand, and quietly walked out of the room. She could hear the faint noise of the TV on downstairs where Alex was sleeping. She smiled when she thought back to their time together yesterday.
Lynn came down the stairs and sat down next to Alex, "You know, you guys have the worst timing in the world." She said and Alex put his arm around her.
"Or you two just have bad timing," he said in a joking tone and she playfully hit him on his chest.
"What's she doing anyway?" Angel asked sitting next to Brian on the love seat.
"She's putting on some 'warmer' clothes." Lynn said.
"Back home everyone would be bundled up in coats and she would walk around in a t shirt. We tell her she's crazy and she replies that it's because she's hot blooded since her parents both come from hot climates." Ethan said with a small laugh as he was setting up the TV and the DVD player.
"Did some one text Kara that we are staying here?" Lynn asked looking around.
"I'll do it right now," Brian said taking his phone out of his back pocket and started to go through his phone until he saw Kara's name pop up. He sent her a quick text letting her know where to send the car. After he was done he looked at Lynn and gave her a thumbs up. She looked at him and smiled.
Andy came down the stairs dressed in black socks, her favorite black sweat pants, and her TRAPT hoodie she just threw over her tank top. "What are we watching?" She asked as walked up to Ethan.
"Per Brian, we are watching 'Holes.' Also because he brought it over," he said looking over at Brian with a raised eyebrow.
Brian looked at him and put his hands in the air, "Hey you guys got it for me."
"My sixth grade teacher assigned the book for a month. The same guy wrote, 'There's A Boy In The Girl's Bathroom.'" Andy said looking at the DVD case. She's seen the movie dozens of times, and read the book more than she could count.
"Nerd," Lynn said with a smirk. Andy turned to her and gave her a wink and then turned back to Ethan.
"How long ago was that?" Alex asked.
Andy shrugged, "I was living in Okinawa and I was like eleven or twelve . I think," she said trying to recall her memory.
"So I think like ninety nine or two thousand, I wanna say."
"Holy shit! We were barely alive!" Brian said.
Andy smiled and shook her head, "Ha, ha, yeah I know I'm always the oldest of the group."
Everyone chuckled while Ethan put in the DVD and walked back over to Andy, "I'll go make some popcorn," she said and started to walk towards the kitchen. Lynn got up and walked in the same direction. Andy had her hood up and she had tunnel vision, so she didn't notice that Lynn was following her. She went through the cabinets and found the microwavable popcorn. She pulled out three bags and opened them up from the plastic wrapping.
She started to sing a song softly to herself and Lynn was trying to hear was she was singing, but couldn't. She sat at the bar counter with her hand under her chin just watching Andy. She was mesmerize by her and she didn't know why. She just wanted to watch her do anything, or everything it didn't matter. For some reason just watching her made her happy. She didn't know why, there was something about Andy that just put her at ease.
Andy put the first bag of popcorn into the microwave and pushed the popcorn button just when her cell phone started to ring. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it. After looking at it for another moment she answered it.
"Hello?" She answered but didn't hear anything back. "Hello?" She asked again and finally a voice came on the other end.
"Oh, hey bro, what's up?" Lynn sat there as she watched as Andy used her left hip to lean against the counter and saw her head nod and she kept saying, "Uh huh," or "okay."
"Well did you try using ice?" Again Andy was nodding, and saying, "Okay," or "Uh huh."
"So what I normally do, to make everything go faster, is after I send the dough through a second time through the roller, and line them all up, I'll start to make the next batch. Once I get the next batch all mixed in and everything I'll start the mixer and then I'll start pressing down the dough. By the time the dough is pressed down, and then put into the dough tins, and put into the walk in the mixer should be done."
Ethan walked into the kitchen and looked at Lynn while he pointed at Andy and mouthed, "Who's that?"
Lynn shrugged, "Work?" she mouthed back. Ethan shook his head and then walked up to Andy and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and saw Ethan and he brought his hand up and motioned for her to give him her phone. She looked at him and gave it to him.
"Hello?" He said and the voice replied, "Oh hey Mark. Did they tell to not bother us anymore?"
Andy heard the microwave go off and she took out the first bag of popcorn and put another one in.
"Oh I see, well, here's the thing we are on FUCKING VACATION! I understand you have questions but there are OTHER people that you can ask! Like say oh I don't know FUCKING CLINT! Now, please don't bother me or workaholic a.k.a Andy until we come back to work on the fourth! Happy FUCKING New Year!" Ethan hung up Andy's phone and gave it back to her.
He put his hands on her shoulders, "NO MORE WORK CALLS!"
Andy just nodded, "Asshole."
"Bitch." The two looked at each other for with straight faces until they broke and started to laugh. They hugged each other and then let go.
"But seriously no more work calls. They don't need us."
Andy nodded, "Yeah you're right. We have other things to worry about." She took out the second bag of popcorn and popped the new one in and pressed the button.
Ethan opened up a cabinet and then started to pull out a few spices and then he opened another cabinet and pulled out a couple of big bowls.
"Ethan's famous popcorn," Andy said with a smile.
"What's Ethan's famous popcorn?" Andy jumped and turned around and saw Lynn sitting there. She put a hand on her chest and tried to control her breathing. Ethan stopped what he was doing and looked at her with a concerned look. She looked at him and shook her head. He gave her a slight nod as if to ask if she was sure and she nodded back.
Lynn got out of her seat and walked over to Andy and put her hand on Andy's chest and felt the pounding of her heart. Her eyes widened slightly. To her it felt as if her heart was about to burst out of her chest. Andy closed her eyes and started to breathe in slowly and then would exhale slowly. After a few breaths Lynn was able to feel Andy's heart calm down.
"Are you okay?" Lynn asked taking Andy's face in her hands and the other woman just nodded.
"Yeah, you just startled me, is all." She said with a small smile and the microwave went off.
"We'll be in there in a few minutes. Gonna help Ethan carry the popcorn out." Andy told her as she rested her forehead against hers. Lynn just nodded and leaned in and gave her a small lingering kiss. Once they pulled away Andy kissed her forehead and then Lynn turned and walked out of the kitchen. But not before stopping at the entrance and looked back at Andy with a worried look. Andy gave her a smile and a wink to reassure that she was okay. Lynn just nodded and took back her seat next to Alex on the couch.
"Are you going to tell her?" Ethan asked.
Andy shook her head, "When the time is right."
"Better tell her before it's too late." He said and she nodded. She looked into the living room and saw Lynn laughing with her friends. This was something she wasn't ready to tell her, at least not yet.
The rest of the night flew by. They watched a few more movies and then ordered some pizza. Everyone but Andy took turns taking showers. Then, Andy went on to explain why she had to take some medicine before she had to eat anything that was greasy. Then, she went on to explain what happened with Vicki at lunch.
"So I was right!" Lynn said with a knowing smile. Andy looked up at her with a confused look. Andy was sitting on the floor in front of Lynn while she was still on the couch with Alex.
"Earlier today I heard you say that it was nine years since you both seen each other. You're twenty nine and you were engaged when you were twenty."
Andy looked at Ethan, "See, she listens." She said and he just smiled and shook his head.
"Yes, you're right. She was my first everything, and then we broke up, on bad terms. But we kept hooking up for months, then it was officially over. That was the first time I saw her since our last hook up, when I told her that I couldn't do it anymore."
Brian nodded, "Andy you're a VERY colorful person." He said with a small chuckle.
"Well, what can I say, I've seen some stuff, and been through a lot." She looked at her watch and saw that it was almost ten.
"We should get to bed. We gotta be up early." She said as she stood up and everyone agreed. They cleaned up the living room and she helped Alex with the pull out couch. Then everyone else made their way upstairs. Alex watched as Ethan walked into his room saying good night to everyone. He really needed to talk to him and hopefully while they were New York tomorrow he would be able to.
***************************************************************************
Andy just finished brushing her teeth when she heard a door open and she peaked out of the bathroom to see Ethan walking towards her. He rubbed his tired eyes and smiled, "Always have to be the first one up," he said and walked into the bathroom and started to wash his face.
"Do we have any oatmeal?" She asked him leaning against the door frame crossing her arms.
He looked at her as he started to dry his face, "I think so. Thinking about making oatmeal for everyone?"
Andy nodded, "Yeah just something small. I mean I'm sure they have a snack car on the train. But, I have a feeling we're all going to fall asleep and wake up hungry. Plus I kinda have a date planned out for Lynn and I after meeting Erika."
"I think we might have some in the cabinet by the stove. What do you have planned?" He asked reaching for his toothbrush and toothpaste.
"Ice skating, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, and lunch somewhere. I really want to ask her to be my girlfriend, but I want to have two more dates with her at least."
"What about that time they were in Virginia the first time? You know, when you two spent that day together and then came to work for your surprise party. Didn't that count as a first date?"
"If I'm being honest I don't really count that as a first date. I mean yeah we went to brunch, and I got my tattoo. But then I got that fake call from Clint. I wanna say that was more of hang out kind of thing. The day before yesterday was like a date, date. You know getting to know each other more, dinner, exploring something together."
Ethan nodded, he would have answered but he was brushing his teeth. After he was done and rinsed out his mouth he reached for the mouth wash and looked at her, "Do you think your knee is going to be okay for ice skating?" Andy looked down at her left knee and saw the scars from her two surgeries and then back up at Ethan.
"I think that's what the brace is for. But after the meeting I'll make a quick call to my doctor and double check with her."
Ethan spit out the mouthwash and nodded. He wiped his mouth with a small towel, "Good, now come on, let's go make them some breakfast." He said and they both left the bathroom and started to walk down the stairs and into the kitchen. Ethan closed the sliding doors behind them so that they wouldn't wake up Alex.
"Oh my God! I forgot to tell you!" She took out her cell phone from her pocket.
"Remember those songs that would randomly pop up on my YouTube playlist when we would deep clean the apartment?" She asked as he was looking for a pot to put the oatmeal in.
"Yeah, the ones that sound like early Paramore, but just a little harder?" He asked.
Andy nodded, "Yup and we said the voice sounded familiar?"
"Uh huh," he said after finding a big enough pot and he put it on the stove.
"Also the ones that sound like house music and the singer sounded familiar as well and we could never think of who it was?" She asked walking over to Ethan and stood by him.
"Yeah?" He said pulling out a jar of uncooked oatmeal.
"Well I found out who they were," she said showing him her phone. He dropped the jar and there was a loud bang. They both jumped and started to scramble to pick up the jar. Luckily it didn't break. They both looked towards the doors and waited a few minutes and no one came through.
They both let out a sigh of relief and Ethan turned back to her, "Are you serious?!" He said keeping his voice down.
"I only found out after we went to bed on Christmas night and I was scrolling through trying to find a mediation to help me sleep. But look at the name," she said and he looked and then looked back at her.
"Wait, so this was before they changed it?"
Andy nodded, "Also the two songs that we love and we couldn't find. Well I found them, and I found the the singer." She scrolled through her phone again and showed him what she found.
"Nooooo!" He said in a loud whisper, "DUDE! WHAT?!" Ethan still keeping his voice down.
"I have an idea," she told him with a small smirk.
They heard a groan from the doorway and saw Alex walking in with sleepy eyes. He stumbled to one of the chairs at the bar counter and put his head down.
"What time is it?" He asked as it came out a little muffled. Andy smiled and looked at her phone checking the time.
"Three in the morning."
He groaned louder, "It's too early for this shit!" Andy shook her head and took the pot off of the stove and walked over to the sink and started to fill it with water. Ethan started to make a pot of coffee for everyone and then started to get the coffee mugs and everything Andy needed to put in them. They looked at each other with a confused looked and laughed.
They ended up switching tasks and Andy started to put her magic mix into the coffee cups. Angel walked in with bed head and sat down next to Alex and groaned as well. She put her head down and the two best friends smiled and shook their heads.
The coffee machine went off and Andy took the coffee pot and started to pour the hot liquid into six coffee mugs.
"I knew I smelled coffee," a voice came from the doorway and Ethan was the only one to see Lynn walking in with a smile.
"Looks like someone in a good mood." He said and she noticed her two friends with their heads down on the counter bar.
"Brian's the worst though. He'll be waking up soon I imagine." She walked up to Andy and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Andy leaned in wrapping her arm around her and pulled her in closer.
"You're gonna spill the coffee," Lynn said turning her head away from Andy's cheek and watched her pour the coffee.
"You trust me?" Andy asked not looking at her as she was at the final cup. Lynn nodded and Andy turned her head towards Lynn and kissed her forehead as she poured the rest of the coffee into the last mug.
She turned her head back just as the cup filled up right where she wanted it. Lynn looked at Andy with a small surprised look.
"Took a lot of practice but I got it down," she said and put the coffee pot back in the coffee maker and finished up with the powder creamer. Just then they heard a small crash everyone's head turned towards the doorway and Brian stumbled in.
His eyes were half open and as he took a seat next to Angel, "I may or may not have knocked something over."
They all laughed and Andy started to give everyone a cup of coffee. In just a few hours they would be in New York City and Andy couldn't wait to spend the day with Lynn.
********************************************************************************
Andy looked up at the tall building and took in a deep breath. She really didn't want to go in there but she knew she had to. She didn't know what was worse; meeting Erika or when she performed in front of a crowd for the first time. She wasn't nervous in the car, or on the train, but now she had to get her pounding heart under control. The ride up to New York was smooth as ever to her liking.
They were all standing outside five minutes early waiting for the car that Kara was supposed to send to them. Ethan asked if everyone had everything and they all checked their pockets and nodded. A black SUV pulled up to them and parked. Andy, Brian, and Ethan all went into a protective mode taking a step in front of the other three with an arm in front of them.
Angel looked at Lynn and moved her eyes towards Andy and Lynn just blushed. Then she turned to Alex and did the same gesture and he just rolled his eyes shaking his head. A man that seemed to be in his early forties came out of the SUV and walked around with a smile. He was wearing an all black three piece suit with a white button down shirt and a chauffeur hat. He smiled at the group, "You must be the ones Kara sent me for," he said and opened the back passenger door.
"I'm Richard, I'll be taking you to the station." Everyone looked at each other and Brian was the first one to make a move.
"Shotgun!" He said and rushed up to the front passenger door.
Angel shook her head, "Always the gentleman." Lynn smiled and took her arm and the both of them walked up to the car. Andy was the last one to get in. She smiled at Richard and said a quick thank you. He just gave her a nod and smiled back.
Before they knew it they were on the train. They found their seats and when they all sat down they noticed how they were. Andy was by the window with Lynn next to her. Ethan was across from Andy and Alex was next to him across from Lynn. Brian and Angel were across the aisle next to each other.
"Well Kara knows us pretty well," Brian said with a smile as they all got settled. Andy just smiled and pulled out her earbuds and plugged them into her phone. She wanted to hear the song that she was going to surprise Lynn with today. While they were in the car they all planned to branch off and meet up at the train station at seven forty five tonight. If they all happen to meet up before then, they would stick together until it was time for them to leave.
Andy's phone went off and she saw it was a text message from her dad. She chuckled and shook her head and started to type something back.
"Who was that?" Ethan asked as he too was putting in his own earbuds.
"Dad. He just said that mom would kill me if I didn't get her a magnet, and a coffee mug from New York."
Ethan smiled, "What does he think about you going to the big city?"
Andy shrugged and smiled, "Told me to show the city slickers how awesome us Southerns are. To keep an eye on my surroundings."
"Yeah, we know you're good at that." Alex said with a small laugh and was joined with the others and they couldn't help but agree.
Andy shook her head, "I know, I know. It's only because at some point I get comfortable and I know what's around me."
The train started to move and Lynn turned to Andy and smiled, "So what do you want to do after the meeting?"
"Well, I was thinking we could have another date. Ice skating, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, lunch at some point, and gotta get those things for my mom."
"Sounds like a good date, but is your knee going to be okay with ice skating?" She asked looking down at Andy's left knee that had the brace on it.
"I plan on calling my doctor after the meeting to ask. I mean I should be fine since I have it on." Lynn smiled and kissed her cheek. She grabbed Andy's arm and put it around her and she moved closer to her. Andy smiled and kissed the top of her head and looked out of the window. Her phone went off again and saw that it was a text from Ethan.
"So how are we going to do this?" she read.
"Let me know where y'all are at around two and I'll let you know where I am. I just gotta find a good spot and some one with a guitar."
"Got ya. You nervous?"
"Not sure. I mean I've sang in front of her before, but nothing like this. Plus I don't know how I'm gonna turn this song into a stripped down version."
Ethan smiled when he read what she sent him.
"You'll figure it out. You always do." Andy smiled and looked up at her best friend and they smiled at each other.
Within twenty minutes of the train ride everyone was asleep but Andy. She couldn't help but take a small video of everyone sleeping. She smiled and saved the video because she wanted to make sure it was okay with everyone before she would post it. She was also thinking about tomorrow and how she wanted to have at least one more date with Lynn before she would officially ask her to be her girlfriend.
She wasn't sure how she was going to do it, but she knew she wanted to do it once the clock hit midnight on New Years Eve. She weighed the pros and cons about it the other night and talked to Ethan again about it. He told her to follow her heart this time and really listen to it. Andy agreed and she told Ethan that this was something new to her and she couldn't explain. He just smiled and told her that he was glad she was happy for once.
Now here they were walking into the tall building and Andy's nerves were spiking. Lynn could feel her tense up and she gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
"I'll be right here." She whispered to her as Brian was checking them in at the security desk.
Andy turned to her, "Are you really sure about this? Having me and Ethan in your lives? Like are you REALLY sure?"
Lynn was about to answer her when Brian came up to them and gave them their passes to go through the security check point. They all put on their passes and started to walk towards the metal detectors. They emptied out their pockets and took off their coats. Andy took off her brace and put in a separate bin and walked through the detector. It went off and she looked confused.
A female guard told her to step aside and everyone else gathered their things and waited for Andy. Lynn was standing by Ethan with her hand on his arm. He looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile. She gave him a small smile back and then looked back at Andy as the guard was using her metal detector wand to scan her. She got to Andy's left knee and there was a faint beep. She asked Andy to lift up her pant leg and Andy just nodded and did what she requested.
She saw the scars and nodded, "ACL?" She asked and Andy nodded. The guard smiled and told her that she was good to go. She thanked her and quickly gathered her things. She walked up to the group and Brian pressed the button for the elevator.
"Who knew the screw in my knee would make that thing go off." Andy said as she started to put her things in her pockets and waited for the elevator. She would put her brace back on while they were on it.
When they heard the small chime they all got in and Brian pressed the button for one of the floors and Andy started to quickly put on her brace again. It took her a couple of tries but she finally got it on just as the elevator stopped. She stood straight up and Lynn caught her hand as they walked out of the elevator. While Alex and Brian were at the receptionist desk, Lynn looked at Andy and smiled, "Yes, I'm sure." She said in a whisper.
Andy returned her gaze and smiled. She leaned in and their lips met for a brief moment. Then Angel came up to them and told said that they had to go into the waiting room. They both nodded and the six of them walked into the white room with chairs, a table with some magazines on it, and a small bar for water and coffee.
Everyone took a seat but Andy. She stood next to chair that Lynn was sitting in. She was too nervous to sit down and she didn't want to pace in case it made the others nervous. They didn't have to wait long when an attractive brunette with green eyes said that Erika was ready for them.
Andy closed her eyes and let out a deep breath. She felt arms go around her waist and she didn't even have to open her eyes to see who it was. She wrapped her arms around Lynn and pulled her in close.
"Your heart's pounding," Lynn whispered and she felt Andy nod. She pulled away from her and softly kissed her lips, "You'll be okay. Just don't have an outburst like you did with Kara," she said with a smile.
Andy opened her eyes and smiled, "I can't promise that."
"Come on guys, Erika doesn't like to wait," Alex said coming up to them. They both nodded and she followed the two of them into Erika's office.
A woman with curly dark brown hair that was pulled back into a ponytail, wearing a slightly fitting blue dress with a big black belt around her waist, and three inch high heels was standing by the window on her cell phone.
Andy and Ethan stood behind the two chairs while the other four stood behind them. They were waiting for Erika to tell him that it was okay for them to sit down.
"Well keep trying! She's going to have a field day if this goes on any longer than it already has!" She hung up her cell phone and let out a frustrated sigh. She turned around and saw the six young adults standing in front of her. Ethan and Andy were hit with her intense bright blue eyes but they stood their ground. She didn't smile at them but squinted her eyes looking at the two of them.
Ethan wanted to look away but he kept his gaze on her. Andy turned her eyes slightly away from Erika's gaze. Erika looked at the four behind them and then clicked her tongue and then walked up to the two of the them. She leaned in close to Ethan and then moved over to Andy. She leaned in close and all Andy could think about was that time she spent at one of the Marine boot camps. When one of the drill instructors would yell at her. She kept her gaze forward and she didn't make eye contact. It was one of the things she learned when some one came close to her. She kept her gaze on the window and found a fixed point on building.
Erika leaned in even more and Andy kept her composure. After a few more minutes she took a step back and walked around her desk and sat down in her chair. She opened side desk drawer and pulled out two folders. She placed them on her desk and closed the drawer.
She started to softly mumble under her breath as she quickly looked through the two folders. She looked back up at Andy and Ethan and she squinted her eyes again, and then back at the folders. She closed them and sat back in her chair. What seemed like an eternity she finally spoke up, "Lynn she's much cuter in person," Erika said and Lynn started to blush, as well as Andy but she kept her gaze on the building.
"Take a seat you two. We have a lot to talk about." She said and the two best friends looked at each other and nodded. They walked around the chairs and sat down. Both quickly let out a sigh of relief and waited for Erika to speak again.
"First, things first, no one can get a hold of Melissa. I think she's taking her yearly sabbatical in Italy. Her and Mike are having problems again." She sighed and folded her hands and put them on her desk.
"Now, Kara has filled me in about you two. She said that you two refused to give her your home address."
"Yes ma'am." Andy said looking at her.
"Why is that?"
Andy looked at Ethan who just shrugged, "Well, at the time we didn't want them," she said using her thumb to point behind her, "To know that we were moving to Georgia. It was part of their Christmas present."
"And we only just found out the morning after we arrived in Boston, that we had gotten a house from Andy's Uncle." Ethan finished.
"Also, I don't like giving out that information." Andy said in a tense voice. The four behind them held their breath waiting to see what Erika would do.
Erika looked hard at Andy for a moment and then nodded, "I see. Well she would also need it just in case they decided to visit. I take it she didn't tell you that." Andy and Ethan shook their heads as well as Erika.
"They will get our address seeing as we gave them keys so they could come and go as they please." Andy told he clinching her fist. She really didn't like how this was the second time some one that she didn't know asked for her address.
Brian shook his head and looked at Lynn. She just shook her head back at him and gave him a small nod.
Erika was a little impressed with Andy and how she was keeping her composure. After what Kara told her about the outburst she had she wanted to know if the same thing would happen today.
"Okay, well, I'm sure she told you that we are extremely protective of these three," Andy and Ethan both nodded.
"Now, Kara said that you two aren't looking to use them to make names for yourselves, or use them for your own promotional purposes." This time they both shook their heads.
"So why stick around? I mean you two have an opportunity here. Why not take it?"
Andy cleared her throat, "I didn't expect it to go this far. I didn't expect to keep in touch after Charlotte. I most certainly did not expect to have feelings for Lynn. All I wanted was to spend my birthday weekend with my best friend and meet one of my favorite bands. I didn't expect things to escalate."
She let out a sigh, "At first I saw them as this amazing band that has incredible music that helped me get through my dark time. A band that can touch their fans with just their sound and their words. Then, I started to see them pass that. They're people just like us and they're human. They're also the most amazing people I've every met."
Erik wanted to smile, but she knew that would give everything away. She looked up at Lynn and then back at Andy "How long have you two been..?" She trailed off.
"We've been seeing, and talking with each other since late October," Andy answered and Lynn smiled as she looked down at her feet. "But we haven't put a label on anything."
"Yet..." Lynn said out loud without meaning too.
"I'm sorry what Lynn?" Erika asked and Lynn's head shot up and with wide surprised eyes she shook her head. Erika gave her a small look and then turned her attention back to Ethan and Andy.
"Ethan. Tell me. What do you hope to gain by being friends with them?"
Ethan sat up in his chair and cleared his throat, "Just being friends. I've been having a lot of fun with them these last couple months, just hanging out, and like Andy said, they're just people. Like you and me. They have a job to do and while others think it's an easy job, it's not. They're constantly on the road, they're away from their families months on end, and they're always under pressure to create music. It's exhausting. To the fans it seems like the most glamorous job when isn't.
They'll living their dream and reaching for their goals. Just like Andy and I are. We're living our dream and reaching for our goals but, we all have different dreams and goals. Everyone wants the 'American Dream' and all of us are living our own 'American Dream.'"
Erika couldn't help but feel impressed with these two. She certainly was not expecting to hear them say what they had said. But then again, she knew she had to press a little harder.
"Questions are already starting to surface. Especially questions about how Lynn went from being with a musician to a fan. Not too many fans are happy about it. But others are glad to see Lynn happy again. It's fifty fifty right now, but they will eventually come around. Including those that want to see Lynn back with Alexa. I already have magazines and some music news people asking me questions about who the both of you are. I have not released a statement, I'm only telling them that you both are good friends with PVRIS and nothing more."
Andy and Ethan nodded understanding what she was saying. Erika looked at Lynn and again tried to hide her smile. She then looked over a Brian and Angel, then over at Alex. She was getting a good feeling from the two sitting in front of her. From what she saw of the pictures of Lynn and Andy she knew Lynn would be okay. But she just had to make sure.
"Andy and Ethan I need you both to be prepared for anything that comes your way. You may face some fans that won't like you and you may see your faces all over social media. I know about the text message Lynn received just before Christmas. That's how stuff like this starts. But I want both of you to keep your heads up don't let this bother you. As soon as I get a hold of Melissa I'll let you know.
Now, just from what we've talked about I have a pretty good feeling about the two of you, but just remember to not let any negative press get to you. You may have some paparazzi after you. But keep your head down and don't answer ANY of their questions. Even if they get it on video they can twist your words around." She finished saying and pulled out her cell phone.
"I want your phone numbers just in case I need to get a hold of you. If you two have any pictures or videos of these three feel free to post them. I'm giving you my blessing to do so, just let them know first." Ethan nodded and took Erika's phone and started to put his number in it.
"Once I hear from Melissa I'll let you know. We should've had this meeting right after you both met with Kara, but my secretary didn't pass along the e mail until Christmas day." Ethan handed Erika's phone to Andy and she started to put her number in it as well.
"Andy and Lynn, I need to talk to both of you in private." She said, "Ethan it was nice to meet you. We will see each other soon." She said standing up and him as well and they shook hands. He smiled and said it was nice to meet her as well. He looked at Andy and she just nodded. She gave Erika her phone back and when everyone but Andy and Lynn left the office, Lynn sat in the chair Ethan was just in.
Erika looked at the two women in front of her and finally smiled, "Okay Lynn, girl talk, now." Lynn let out a small laugh and Andy looked very confused.
***********************************************************************************
"Are you going to be okay?" Lynn asked as Andy was looking up at all the stairs they had to climb to get to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. Part of Andy was screaming that this wasn't worth it. The other part was that she might not get a chance like this again. Lynn took her arm and they moved aside to let others through.
Andy let out a long breath and after looking at the stairs for a few more minutes she smiled and looked at Lynn. "Let's go."
Lynn smiled and they started to ascend to the top. This was the first place they decided to go after the meeting. Only because it would take up most of the day. After the meeting they met with their driver and they told him that they would meet right back here around seven so that he could take them to the train station. They ditched the original plan of meeting at the train station. With that being said everyone branched off. Lynn and Andy went off to start their date. The other four decided to stick together and explore some of New York City together.
When the others left Erika's office Andy sat there as Lynn and Erika were talking about how the two met. Then, how Andy was nervous at first and everything went from there. Erika smiled and looked at Andy for the first time since every one left the office.
"I think you're in good hands. But I did want to discuss the age difference." Erika's smile disappeared, "You're twenty nine going on thirty. Lynn is twenty three going on twenty four. Now that many not be a huge gap but I know some people won't be too happy about it. Have you two discuss the age difference?"
Andy looked at Erika with a shocked expression. She smiled and shook her head, "I stalked your social media profile."
Andy nodded and Lynn spoke up, "We talked about it briefly the day after Christmas."
"Sometimes we forget our ages because it doesn't seem like I'm older and she's younger." Andy said looking at Lynn.
Erika smiled and shook her head, "I'm glad to hear that. Now I'm sure Andy you've never been to New York."
"No ma'am first time."
Erika opened another desk drawer and pulled out two small tickets and gave it to Lynn who took them and smiled. "These are two passes for the Statue of Liberty. It'll get you on the ferry as well. Now Lynn I need to talk to Andy alone for a moment." Lynn nodded and stood up. She put a hand on Andy's shoulder and Andy put her hand on top of hers and gave her a gentle squeeze. After a minute Lynn let go of her shoulder and walked out of the office. She looked back at them and stood there for a brief moment and then walked away to meet up with everyone else.
Erika got up from her desk and walked around it and sat down in the chair that was previously occupied by Lynn.
"Now, Andy I can't help but feel that you've been wanting to ask me something or tell me something."
Andy looked behind her and then back at Erika, she cleared her throat and with a slight shaky voice started to talk, "Well, I, um, I kind of want to ask Lynn to be my girlfriend on New Years Eve."
Erika smiled and nodded, "I figured as much. I'm sure she's going to say yes. I just want you to remember that it's going to be hard on the both of you. You're about to move to Georgia and they're about to go back out on tour and hit Coachella in April."
Erika stopped talking and Andy looked at her with wide eyes, "I wasn't supposed to say that."
They sat in silence for a few minutes not knowing what to say. Erika stood up and walked back over to her desk and pulled out two more tickets for something.
"Now, I will need your address so I can send these to you and Ethan. They are passes to the festival. Being part of their PR management team we get perks like this. This will cover everything you need. Normally I wouldn't be doing this but, from what you and Ethan have told me and the feeling I get from the two of you I can't help but feel that they are in good hands."
Andy nodded and she had to ask, "Can I tell them?" Erika smiled and nodded her head.
"But not just yet." Andy smiled and nodded.
"What about when we get back to Boston?"
"That will be fine. Now go, I'm sure you have a day planned with Lynn." She said with a knowing smile. Andy nodded and they both stood up and shook hands.
When Andy left Erika let out a satisfied sigh, "That went better than I thought." She said to herself and then her cell phone went off. She looked at it and her eyes widened.
"Melissa! We have to talk." She said into her phone as he watched Andy walk out of the waiting room.
"Finally!" Andy said as she took the last step. She moved away from the group and started to readjust her brace.
"What's wrong?" Lynn asked waking up to her.
Andy shook her head, "It just came loose is all. Just gotta tighten it back up." Andy finished strapping the last strap and stood up. She smiled at her and took her hand. They walked up to the window and Andy put her other hand on the railing not letting go.
"We're really high up," she said in a tight voice and Lynn looked at her and squeezed her hand.
"You hate heights?"
Andy nodded, "With passion. I don't know why I do this to myself." Andy shook her head and took out her cell phone and looked at Lynn and she just nodded. She started to take pictures of the view and then turned the camera on her and Lynn.
They took a couple of pictures together and a few more with the view from the crown as the background. Just as she was about to put her phone back into her back pocket it started to ring. She looked at it to make sure it wasn't work. She looked at Lynn, "It's my Uncle. Might have to do with the restaurant." Lynn nodded as Andy walked off to the side. One day Lynn would be able to tear her away from work somehow. She would have to have a talk with Ethan about Andy and how much she works.
"Hey Uncle Chris what's up?" She said into her phone.
"Hey Andrea, just wanted to let you know that we won't be opening the location for a while now. Permits are taking longer than I thought and everything is behind. But I want you guys to know that I still want you both here. I'm not sure on the exact date we will be opening since it's being delayed over and over again."
"But what about the house and everything?"
"Oh that, you two can still have. Also if you need any hours to work I can start you at my main restaurant and slowly start showing you the ropes. But if you want to take this time off and travel a bit more you're more than welcome to. Or if you wanted to stay up in Virginia longer you can do that too. It just depends on you two. I don't want you down here and just wasting time." Andy nodded and then looked at Lynn who was looking at the view and she smiled. This meant she could spend some more time with Lynn before she went on tour and possible be able to go to the festival with them.
"I think I need a long vacation. But I'll talk to Ethan about it when we get back to Boston. We're in New York City right now. Just got back from meeting with one of the band's PR managers."
She heard him chuckle a little bit, "Okay just let me know what you two decide. I'll be here. Love you."
"Will do, love you too bye." She hung up the phone and walked up to Lynn and put her arms around her waist. Lynn sighed and leaned back against Andy.
"So what happened?" She asked.
Andy kissed her cheek. "You're not going to believe this."
*****************************************************************************
"FUCK!" Ethan yelled as he fell again. Alex couldn't help but laugh as he helped him up on the ice. When they spilt off from Andy and Lynn the four decided to go ice skating. Ethan told them that he was really bad at coordinating his feet when he wasn't on anything concrete. Alex told him that he would teach him.
They got to the ice skating rink and Alex paid for their rental skates and Ethan told him that he would pay him back. But Alex waved him off saying that it was the least he could do. After putting on their ice skates Ethan stood up nervously and Angel smiled when she saw the interaction between the two men. She nudged Brian and he looked at her. She nodded her head towards Alex and Ethan and he couldn't help but smile watching his best friend take Ethan's hand to help him get steady.
They put away their shoes and started to make their way to the rink. Brian went out on the ice first with ease and he waited for Angel who took a few tentative steps. Before finally skated over to Brian and took his hands. They laughed as he helped her get steady and then they were off.
Alex went out onto the ice with ease just like Brian did and he turned around waiting for Ethan who was looking really nervous.
"Oh come on Wisconsin. You got this." He said with a smirk and Ethan gave him a glare. Alex's smirk turned into a smile and he skated over to him. He held out his gloved hand for Ethan to take and without a word Ethan's gloved hand reached out for his.
He took a tentative step onto the ice and Alex started to slowly guide him around the rink. Ethan kept looking down at his feet not wanting to look up. Alex said that he was going to let go of his hand and Ethan just nodded. He moved his feet a little bit more and ended up falling down the first time. Alex laughed and helped him up. He guided him again and then Ethan fell down again but lasted longer than the first time.
Now Alex helped him up again, "You'll get it," he said with a smile and Ethan shook his head in frustration. Alex took Ethan's hands and he started to skate backwards and giving Ethan pointers. Brian and Angel couldn't help but watch the interaction between the two.
"You know I have a feeling about those two." Angel said and Brian looked at his girlfriend with a weird look.
"What? I'm just saying that they have good chemistry." Angel said looking at Brian.
He scoffed, "Yeah, okay." He said and took her hand and started to skate around the rink. A couple started to skate up to them and for a moment they didn't recognize them until they got closer.
"Hey, fancy seeing you here," Andy said with a smile stopping in front of them.
"Thought you two were at the Statue of Liberty." Angel said with a confused look.
Lynn and Andy nodded, "Yeah we were, we went, we climbed, we saw, we descended, and now we're here. Took a taxi, asked where the nearest ice skating rink was and dropped us off here like ten minutes ago." Andy explained.
"Well looks like your best friend is having trouble staying on his feet." Brian said and he pointed towards Alex and Ethan. Andy and Lynn watched as they saw Ethan go down and Alex landed on top of him. Andy couldn't help but notice how close their faces were. She let go of Lynn's hand and started to skate over to where they were.
"There you go. Just take it one glide at a time." Alex said watching Ethan's feet.
"Think I got it this time." Ethan said with a smile and looked up at Alex, but he celebrated too soon and he fell again this time taking Alex with him. He had his eyes closed and when he opened them up he saw gray green eyes looking back at him. He could feel Alex's breath on his lips and his heart was pounding so loud that he hoped Alex didn't hear it or feel it.
"Hey you guys okay?" They heard and both of them were pulled out of their daze when they broke eye contact and looked up and saw Andy looking at them with a concerned look.
She helped Alex up first, then she helped Ethan up, "Yeah, we're good. Just Ethan can't seem to get his footing right." Alex explained to Andy with a weak smiled and started to brush off his coat.
"Did you explain your duck feet?" Andy asked with a laugh and Ethan gave her a glare.
She put her hands up, "Sorry bro."
"I think you can take it from here," Alex said and he started to skate away. Andy looked after him with a confused look.
"So I guess the doc said you're good to skate." Ethan said pointing at Andy's brace.
She turned her attention back to Ethan and smiled, "Yup. She said just to be cautious. Now come on let's get those duck feet of yours working." She said as she took his hands and started to help him skate.
"You okay?" Brian asked as Alex skated over them and stopped.
He nodded and gave them a small smile, "Yeah just got the wind knocked out of me is all."
"I bet you did," Angel said under her breath and tried to hide her smirk.
"What?" Alex asked looking at Angel who just shook her head and took Lynn's arm and the two women started to skate away.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Brian asked as Alex was watching Andy guide Ethan.
He just nodded his head and turned back to Brian smiling, "Yeah, I'm good." The two best friends started to skate side by side. Alex couldn't help but watch Ethan and Andy from time to time. He didn't understand what was going on with him. He found himself constantly thinking about Ethan and his heart would always skip a beat when he was around him.
He thought it was just because he was excited to have a new friend, but this was different and he didn't know how to face them. He just needed to talk to Ethan about that night and put everything on the table.
"There ya go!" Andy said letting go of one of Ethan's hands.
"Think I got this." He said and let go of Andy's other hand and he started to skate on his own. Andy clapped and cheered him on as he started to slowly glide on the ice on his own. She stayed back a bit just in case he fell again.
Lynn watched the two best friends from across the rink and smiled. She saw Ethan venture out on his own and saw Andy cheer him on. After what she told her at the Statue of Liberty she let out a surprised gasp and turned in her arms and pulled in close for a hug.
This meant that they could spend some more time together after she would leave to go back to Virginia. She also thought back to what Mark said when they came home. Which was asking her to go on tour with them. She was sure she could find something for her do to. But she knew she would have to ask Ethan too. Also she would have to talk it over with Brian, Alex, and Mark.
Angel went on tour with them twice and she loved it. But she couldn't take that much time off of work again, so now she stays home. But she whenever she could she would fly out to a show or drive if they had one close by. She kept her eyes on Andy and Ethan. They were talking and after a few minutes of them talking Ethan stopped and looked at her. She nodded and he shook his head. From where they were standing he said "WHAT?!" rather loudly and people were looking at them with confused looks.
Andy put her finger to her lips telling him to keep it down and he nodded and just smiled and hugged her. "You know for best friends they sure do hug a lot." Brian said skating up to her and Angel.
"I couldn't agree more." Lynn said with a smile and the four of them skated up to the two best friends.
Andy held Ethan's hand to steady him and she had her other hand in Lynn's. She couldn't help but feel that today was an amazing day and she didn't want it to end. She just had to do a couple more things.
"Hey guys I need to get my mom that magnet and coffee cup before Central Park." Andy said.
"What's happening in Central Park?" Alex asked and they all started to skate towards the exit.
Andy shook her head but looked at Ethan who hid his smile. "Nothing, just never seen it. Plus I'm getting hungry and I heard New York City has some amazing food trucks."
"You had me at 'I'm getting hungry.'" Alex said and they all laughed as they exited the rink.
**********************************************************************************
Again they some what branched off once they got to Central Park. On their way there Andy was able to find a small shop and got the things her mom wanted. They were also able to find a food truck near the park and were able to grab some lunch.
Before they entered the park Ethan pulled Andy aside, "So you want us to stay close?" He asked.
She nodded, "Yeah but if you find some one with a guitar let me know. Maybe I can give them some cash and they'll let me play the song. It kinda worked out running into y'all at the rink."
" Yeah, it did. What about Brian and Angel?" He asked.
She looked over at them, "I'm sure Brian's not going to wonder too far away from Alex. Just linger I guess?" She said the last part with an unsure tone. Ethan just nodded and put his arm around her shoulders. Then, they walked over to where the four were standing.
Alex and Ethan weren't too far from Andy and Lynn same with Brian and Angel. They were just off in their own little worlds. Brian and Angel were taking pictures as was Lynn and Andy. Alex looked at Ethan and then back at the ground. He wasn't sure how he was going to approach this talk. But he knew he had to do it.
"Hey Ethan, can I talk to you for a second?" He asked and Ethan looked at him and nodded. He followed Alex to a bench and they both sat down.
Alex took in a breath and let it out. He looked at Ethan and then looked at his lap and then back at Ethan, "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if I freaked you out the other night."
Ethan looked at him confused, "What do you mean?"
Alex cleared his throat, "Well Lynn said that you woke up with my arm around you and it freaked you out a little bit."
Ethan's eyes widened slightly, "Oohh," he said softly.
"Normally at my place I have this extra pillow that I ended up waking up with and I cuddle with it, you could say. I guess it was just instinct for me to reach out for it and I got you instead. Not that I'm complaining or anything." He added the last part quickly.
Ethan nodded and looked around the park. He saw Andy go up to someone with a guitar and watched as she put a few dollars into her case. She took a step back and watched her play and she added more money to her case. He watched as she pulled out her phone and it wasn't long until his phone went off.
He cleared his throat, "You don't have to apologize Alex, but thank you. I guess we just got really comfortable that night. I mean for a pull out bed that thing was extremely comfortable." He said standing up and Alex gave him a look of relief as he stood up as well.
"Think of it as this," Ethan started to say as Brian and Angel joined them and he got in front of them and started to walk backwards leading them to where Andy and Lynn were.
"That episode of 'Friends' when Joey and Ross took a nap and they ended up cuddling. But they said it was the best nap they ever had. So they try to recreate it and they end up cuddling again, and they wake up to everyone seeing them." He said and turned around and walked a few more feet and saw Andy talking to the girl with the guitar.
"I never thought about it like that," Alex said with a smile and was glad that Ethan wasn't taking this hard.
"What's going on?" Angel asked.
Lynn and she shook her head. "I don't know. She led me over her because she heard the music, and then she tossed like sixty bucks into the case. She looked at her with a big smile. Now they're talking and Andy's showing her something on her phone. She asked me to hold her bag while she talked to her."
Andy smiled at the young woman, "Think you can follow along on the box?" Andy asked her and she nodded. When the girl started to say thank you to Andy she walked up to her and gave her a hug and helped her up. She asked if she knew who PVRIS was and the young woman nodded with a big smile. She told her not to look but that PVRIS was in town for a few hours.
"I heard you playing and I brought Lynn over, I have a favor to ask." She said and the young woman eyes went a little wide and she smiled.
"Wait, I recognize you from the pictures," she said and Andy was taken aback but smiled.
"Do you know the song 'Lose Myself' by Seven Lions?" Andy asked and again she nodded and her smile became bigger.
"Yeah Lynn sings in it! It's one of my favorites. Are you going to sing it to Lynn?" Andy smiled and turned a little red.
"Ohh this is amazing!"
Andy smiled and pulled out her phone and gave the girl the earbuds and let her listen to the song just to help remind her of how the beat would flow. After the song was over they both smiled at each other and Andy asked if she could follow on the box and she nodded. The girl gave her the guitar she was playing earlier and then she sat down on her percussion box and Andy started to tune the guitar.
Ethan smiled and pulled out his phone ready to record Andy and the young girl. "You know what's going on don't you," Angel said.
Ethan looked at her and gave her his signature goofy grin, "I don't know what you're talking about." He said and Angel playfully hit him on his arm.
He heard Andy starting to play and he hit record. Everyone was waiting for a familiar sound. When the girl started to play the percussion box and they heard the melody that Andy was playing and they knew. Brian recognized it first and grabbed Lynn's arm. She looked at him with a confused look and then she started to hear it. Alex turned his head towards them with wide eyes. "How?!" He mouthed to them and they both shook their heads.
"Under rocks and memories
Underneath desire
I found what I'm missing in your fire
Andy started to sing slowly and she didn't want to look at Lynn because she didn't want to see her reaction to this song. But Ethan ended up catching it on his phone and then he turned back to Andy and the young woman as they continued to play.
Up above the skyline
High above the lights
You become the echo of my life
Andy looked over at Lynn and smiled as she sang the verse. Lynn couldn't help but blush and listen to the words she wrote two years ago. She never thought she would hear this song stripped down like this, ever.
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I couldn't let you go if I tried to
You fly me so high, I look down below
The shadow of night hides the way that we glow
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you
The young woman and Andy harmonized with the chorus. Ethan noticed that the crowd started to get a little bigger and people were putting money into the girl's guitar case.
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh, all these feelings, all these feelings
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh, all these feelings, all these feelings
Lynn watched as Andy's fingers and hands beat on the guitar to match a beat along with playing the strings.
"Lynn, did you know she could play like that?" Brian asked and she shook her head. There's was a lot she didn't know about Andy and she couldn't wait to learn more.
You fly me so high, I look down below
The shadow of night hides the way that we glow
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you
I wanna lose myself inside you
Andy looked at Lynn during the verse and again she blushed. She tucked a loose hair behind her ear and couldn't help but tap her foot to the beat. Angel watched the exchange and couldn't help but think that these two would have an amazing relationship.
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh, all these feelings, all these feelings
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh
Andy turned to the young woman as they harmonized again. She looked up at her and smiled. The two of them started to get really into the song and lay down the melody of the song. They could hear people clapping along and even some people knew the song. They could also hear them sing along with them.
Out of ashes rising
Out of breath with you
In the end I'm finding the perfect truth
Andy looked back at Lynn giving her a wink and a smile and Lynn couldn't help but smile and shake her head. She bit her bottom lip as she looked down at the ground and then back up at Andy. It took all of Andy not to drop the guitar and rush over to her and kiss her right then and there.
Into every sunrise
Into every moon
I know that you'll be coming with me soon
Alex looked at Lynn and took the few steps over to her and stood by her, "How did she put this together?" He asked her and Lynn shook her head.
"I need to learn this," he said as he carefully watched Andy's fingers on the guitar.
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I couldn't let you go if I tried to
You fly me so high, I look down below
The shadow of night hides the way that we glow
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you
The crowd grew a little bigger, and the singing became even louder and as did the clapping. Andy couldn't help but smile hearing people sing along. She also couldn't help but feel that this is what it felt like for the trio. When their fans sing their songs at the top of their lungs. It was incredible.
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh, all these feelings, all these feelings
Oh oh oh, just keep breathing, just keep breathing
Oh oh oh, all these feelings, all these feelings
Andy took a step closer to the young woman and they started to play a little faster. They smiled at each other and Lynn noticed how happy Andy looked playing with young woman.
You fly me so high, I look down below
The shadow of night hides the way that we glow
Ooh oh oh oh oh, I wanna lose myself inside you"
(Song and lyrics by Seven Lions ft. Lynn Gunn)
Andy and the young woman looked at each and smiled and they ended the song strong.
When they stopped playing Andy took off the guitar and gently set it down on the ground and wrapped her arms around her. "I never got your name," she whispered as they hugged.
They pulled away, "Lucy," she said with a small smile.
"Thank you for letting me do this Lucy," she said and took her hand and raised it up, "Let's give it up for LUCY!" Everyone cheered and clapped for her.
"What's your name?" Lucy asked.
Andy shook her head, "Come on there's a few people I want you to meet." Not letting go of her hand, she brought her to where her friends were standing and she let Lucy meet with PVRIS.
Andy stepped back and Ethan came up to her, "You were great!" He said and patted her on her back.
"Thanks but I'm giving the credit to Lucy there." She said with a smile. She took out her wallet and grabbed some more money from her it as well as business card with her name on it. She found a pen in her pocket and wrote something down. She wrapped up the card in the money and placed it in Lucy's guitar case.
Lynn saw what Andy did and their eyes met. Whatever Lynn was feeling for Andy it just became a little stronger. She felt as if she just wanted to tell the entire world that she was taken. But she couldn't since they never talked about being more than what they are.
Andy smiled and just winked at her. She watched as the three interacted with Lucy and couldn't help but smile at the interaction. Angel came up to her and smiled, "I think you just made her day."
Andy chuckled and put her hands in her pockets, "I do what I can." She said as she watched Lucy take a picture with the trio. Today was definitely one of her favorite days.
***********************************************************************************
"Are we staying with you guys again tonight since it'll make more sense?" Brian asked as they sat down in their seats on the train.
Andy and Ethan looked at each other and shrugged, "I don't see why not. We could hang out some more, order some food, and watch movies." Andy said as she took off her coat and put it under her seat.
"Good thing I packed extra clothes," Lynn said with a smile and Andy wrapped her arm around her.
"Oh me too!" Angel said taking Brian's hand in hers.
"Did y'all plan this?" Ethan asked in a joking tone and everyone laughed.
After Central Park and meeting Lucy they decided to take a look at Times Square. They took pictures and Lynn couldn't help but smile at Andy's shocked expression. Andy honestly never thought she would be in New York City ever in her life. Now that she was here she couldn't believe all the sights and sounds.
The only time she ever saw this place was either in a movie or on TV. Same with Ethan. The two best friends had their mouths agaped and their eyes were wide. Brian took this opportunity to capture the expressions they were making. He took out his camera and snapped the shot and smiled. He still couldn't believe that these two were huge fans of their band, and now they were becoming his close friends.
They took more pictures with each other and some of the square and then they realized they had to get going to meet up with the driver. They found a taxi van and Angel gave him the address to the building they were at earlier today.
It took a little longer than they thought because of the New York traffic. But they barely made it when they saw their driver pull up to the front of the building. Out of breath they all climbed into the SUV and they all started to laugh.
Once they were settled in their seats they started to talk about the meeting and the trio were prepping Andy and Ethan for Melissa. They told them not to be nervous and that if they thought Erika was easy, Melissa won't be. They were actually surprised that Erika was nice today. Angel said that she must have been in a good mood and they all laughed.
Andy wanted to tell them what Erika told her about the music festival but she had to wait until they got back to their rental town house. She wanted to enjoy this time with them. She looked at Ethan and smiled. After she told him about what her Uncle said and the two of them decided to take some time off and be able to enjoy life for once. Especially now, since it seemed that 2018 would be a huge year for them.
Lynn looked at Andy and smiled, "What are you thinking about?" She asked.
Andy smiled looking at her, "About how 2018 might just be the best year yet." She said softly and leaned in and their lips met.
2018 was definitely looking up for everyone and they couldn't wait to ring in the New Year together in just a few days.
