"You got the moves that drive me crazy,
And on your face I see a trace of love."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kelly stood in front of the refrigerator, holding the door open, not really focusing on what she was looking at.
"Got lost?" Carrie asked, wrapping her arms around her from behind.
"I forgot what I came in here for," Kelly admitted.
"Well, you said you were coming get something to drink, but I think you really came in here because my sister makes you nervous."
"She does," Kelly nodded.
Carrie kissed the top of her shoulder, holding her close.
Kelly's eyes closed at the feeling of Carrie's body pressed against her own.
"I've missed you," Carrie whispered.
"I think I've created a monster," Kelly teased softly.
Carrie smiled, "Are you complaining?"
"Never," Kelly replied, slightly breathless as one of Carrie's hands slipped under her shirt.
"You're so great," Carrie kissed just behind her ear. "I don't think I tell you that enough, but you are."
Kelly leaned back into her, biting her bottom lip as Carrie's hand slid under her bra.
"Especially at this girlfriend thing," she kissed lightly along the edge of her ear. "It baffles me how you ever thought you were bad at it, because you are so great at it."
"Care..."
Carrie felt her blood rush, "You know it's not fair for you to say my name like that when we're standing in the middle of your kitchen."
"Kinda like how it's not fair for you to turn me on when your sister can walk in any minute?"
Carrie groaned softly in her ear, pulling Kelly even closer.
"Baby..." Kelly moaned as Carrie's lips grazed her jaw.
"Let's sneak out back," Carrie suggested, her voice low. "Stone walls and all that...nobody can hear," her lips brushed against the shorter girl's temple.
Kelly shifted against her, trying desperately to keep a level head, but failing miserably. She turned her head to the side, capturing Carrie's lips in her own.
Carrie turned her in her arms so that they were facing each other, and she pulled her close, kissing her firmly.
Kelly pulled back, struggling for air.
Carrie looked her in the eye, boldly.
Kelly closed her eyes, biting hard on her bottom lip, as her fingers traced along Carrie's jaw.
Carrie smiled, leaning up to kiss her forehead before pulling her into a hug.
Kelly nuzzled into her neck, hugging her tightly, "I don't like being away from you."
Carrie felt her heart speed up even faster, "Me either."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that we were right...that this is right..."
"I like being right," Kelly replied before kissing her neck softly.
"You're so great," Carrie repeated.
Kelly laughed softly.
"I think my sister wants to talk to you."
"Alone?"
"If that's ok with you."
Kelly nodded, snuggling further into the other blonde.
Carrie rubbed her back comfortingly, "So after?"
Kelly kissed her neck once more in agreement.
Carrie felt her pulse race, "Good, cause I've really missed you."
"I know," Kelly replied, her own body still very much aware of how closely they were holding each other.
"But I can't spell it out for you;
No it's never gonna be that simple."
Kelly glanced over at Shanna who was studying her carefully.
Carrie looked between the two of them before giving Ashley a look.
"Well...I'm going to bed," Ashley got up, stretching. "Come on, Jay."
"Huh?" Jason yawned as he got to his feet.
"Come on."
Carrie turned, giving Kelly a soft smile, "You're ok?"
Kelly nodded as Carrie kissed her cheek lightly.
"Wait," Jason frowned, looking between Kelly and Shanna who were still seated on the sofa and recliner. He turned to Carrie, "Where are you going?"
"Take a shower," she replied simply.
"I think I'll stay," he made a move to sit back down.
"Jay," Kelly laughed softly. "Go to bed. It's ok, I promise."
Ashley rolled her eyes as Jason refused to move. She grabbed his arm, pinching him slightly as she drug him out of the room.
"Are they like...together?" Shanna asked.
"What?" Kelly laughed. "No, that'd be like incest."
"I'll see you in a little while," Carrie squeezed Kelly's hand that she was still holding.
Kelly nodded.
"Night Shanna," Carrie gave her a warning look.
Shanna rolled her eyes, "I know, I know...be nice..."
Kelly smiled, watching as Carrie walked out the room and up the stairs.
"So...this is some place you have here," Shanna commented, finally breaking the silence.
"It's great to come home to," Kelly nodded.
"I have to say, I am a bit relieved to know that you live in Texas and not L.A. Not that you ever seemed like the L.A. type, but you never know, you know?"
She nodded again.
Shanna took a deep breath, "I wanted to apologize for the way I reacted the last time I saw you."
"Carrie already told me you were sorry," Kelly assured.
"I know, but I still felt like I should. I was completely rude to you, and that wasn't fair. I'm normally not like that, you know? The type of person to just fly off the handle...that's so not me. Carrie's just...she's my baby sister."
"And I understand that."
"No you don't," Shanna shook her head. "Not really. You laughed when your brother wanted to stay just now."
"Because he's being overprotective like always."
"See? You don't fully understand. And that's nothing against you...it's the same as a child not understanding why their parent is so protective. Trust me, Carrie doesn't get it either."
"You feel the need to protect Carrie from me?" Kelly asked, slightly hurt.
Shanna frowned softly, "All I want is for her to be happy and safe and to live a good life."
"You don't think that's what I want for her too?"
Shanna looked down at her lap.
"You don't think that her dating me constitutes as a good life," Kelly nodded.
"I don't know what to think anymore," she shook her head.
"I really, really care about your sister."
"I know that."
"Then what's the problem?"
Shanna looked at her sadly.
"You just can't get around the fact that I'm a girl, huh?" Kelly questioned, gently.
"You seriously caught me so off guard with all of this."
"This wasn't exactly in the game plan for me either, but here we are."
"If this wasn't what you wanted, then why do it?"
Kelly shook her head, "You misunderstood me. Carrie is what I want. This relationship is all that I want. I just wasn't expecting it. And before you ask, yes, I tried to fight it...I couldn't. Maybe I'm not as strong as I thought because there's no way I could fight this."
Shanna sighed.
"The rest of my family doesn't know. We decided to wait until our relationship kinda found it's footing, you know? She just...she had to tell you. You were the one person she couldn't lie to."
"She had already been lying to me for months."
"We were lying to ourselves for months," Kelly corrected. "Trying to act like this was no big deal. That it was just a distraction. That if we wanted to stop, we could...we can't."
Shanna could feel her eyes watering at the thought of all her little sister had been through the past couple months.
"Carrie...she's the strong one. She always was. She's helped me so much...I can't even begin to tell you all that she's done for me, and in the end, she was the one that was strong enough to let herself realize that this was more than just some distraction."
Shanna shook her head, "She's not strong."
"Yes, she is."
"She's so fragile."
"She's just got a big heart."
Shanna swallowed hard, "You've got to take care of her, you know? She's gonna...she thinks she can do it all, but she can't."
"I'll take care of her," Kelly assured, confused by the sudden change in the atmosphere. "But that doesn't mean she doesn't still need you," she noted, thinking that's where Shanna was going with this.
"Kell..." Carrie said firmly from the bottom of the stairs, causing both of them to look back. She was standing in her pajamas, her hair still wet as she glared at her sister coldly. "Come to bed?" her voice softened as she turned to the short Texan.
Kelly looked between the two sisters confusedly before nodding. "Night Shanna," she said politely before walking to Carrie who held an arm open to her.
Carrie squeezed her gently, kissing her temple, glancing back at her sister as they walked up the stairs.
