"And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed,
They don't know my head is a mess.
No, they don't know who I really am,
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do,
And I was made for you."

Carrie languidly ran her fingers up and down the Texan's bare back, smiling at the soft moan of satisfaction that escaped her lips. She kissed the top of her head. "Morning."
"No morning...sleep..." she mumbled, burying her face in the country singer's neck.
Carrie giggled, "Alright, go back to sleep."
"Shouldn't the phones be ringing?" Kelly asked, starting to remember the previous day's events.
"I turned them off."
"I love you," she smiled, yawning.
Carrie laughed, "I know. Now go back to sleep."
"Are you scared?" she asked softly after a moment.
Carrie sighed, wrapping her arms around her, "I think we both have amazing teams working their butts off to fix this..."
"But you're scared?"
"Yea," she nodded. "I'm scared."
"Me too."
"I know," she kissed the top of her head again.
Kelly reached up, kissing her cheek.
Carrie smiled, turning her head and kissing her softly, her smile growing as Kelly placed her hand on her cheek.
They pulled back at the sound of voices inside the house.
Kelly frowned as one of the voices started to rise, "Jill's home."
"We should get up," Carrie nodded.
Kelly sat up, smiling as Carrie handed her her shirt. She quickly tugged it on before getting out of bed, the two voices much clearer now.
"I don't care!" Jill said harshly.
"Jill, come on, would you chill out long enough to think about this?" Kate pleaded. "If you knew what Kelly was going through, you'd want to be there for her too."
Kelly's heart sank at the sound of desperation in Kate's voice.
"I don't want her here!" Jill argued.
"This is our house."
"Exactly--"
Carrie and Kelly looked at each other nervously at the sound of footsteps approaching.
"--it is our house, Kate, and if I don't want somebody here then you need to respect that."
There was a knock on the door.
"Jill, that's my room," Kate reminded. "You have no say about what I do in my room, remember? That was the rules."
"Kelly, open up," Jill knocked again. "Come on, I know you're in there."
"Why can't you just leave it be?" Kate questioned. "They aren't hurting you, are they?"
"Kelly," Jill continued to knock. "Open the door, come on."
Kelly shook her head, relieved when Carrie wrapped an arm around her.
"Carrie, I know you're in there with her. Would you just open the damn door?"
"Um, you know," Carrie replied. "I'd rather not. Cause I'm pretty weak, and you kinda scare me."
"For Christ's sake, I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to talk to Kelly," Jill explained through the door.
"About what?"
"That's not really any of your business."
"Yes, it is. She's going through enough right now, so she doesn't need you harping on her as well."
"Kelly, come on. Would you please just open the door."
Kelly took a deep breath before stepping forward to open the door.
Jill frowned as Kelly stepped back into Carrie's arms.
"You wanted to talk?" Kelly asked.
"To you," she nodded.
"Well, I'm right here."
"Not in front of her."
Kelly felt Carrie's arms wrap tighter around her, protectively, "What's the point? We heard you loud and clear...you don't want us here. We'll just go."
"You don't have to go," Kate stepped forward quickly. "This isn't just her house. It's mine too, and you two are always welcome here."
"It's not you that I don't want here," Jill shook her head. "It's her," she nodded at Carrie.
Kelly's eyes narrowed, "She has a name, you know."
"Kelly, please."
"And if you don't want Carrie here, then you don't want me here either because I'm with her, Jill. Do you understand that? I am with her...we're together now...that's it--it's final."
Jill sighed, "I just want to talk to you."
Kelly studied her carefully, "Fine."
"Fine?" Carrie and Kate both questioned.
"We can talk," Kelly nodded. "But I don't have time for bull shit right now because I have way too much other stuff going on, alright?"
"Alright," Jill agreed.
"Alright, um..." Kelly turned to Carrie then Kate. "Can you take her to get something to eat? I know you don't really have anything vegan over here, and she didn't get a chance to eat last night because we were so busy trying to sort everything out."
"Yea, sure," Kate nodded.
Carrie turned Kelly to her, "You sure you're ok?"
"Yea," she smiled softly. "Grab me something to eat while y'all are out?"
"Of course."
"Thanks," Kelly kissed her softly. Her smile grew as she kissed her again.
Carrie beamed, reaching down to give her hand a gentle squeeze before turning to follow Kate out of the room. She stopped as she walked past Jill. "Don't push her," Carrie warned.
Jill rolled her eyes.
"I mean it," Carrie nodded, her voice low. "Don't you dare upset her. She has enough to deal with right now without your ignorant, judgemental whining."
Jill tensed.
"Come on," Kate took Carrie's arm gently. "Kelly's gonna be ok. She knows what she's doing."
Carrie looked back at the short singer as Kate led her out the room.
Kelly winked at her, offering a reassuring smile.
Carrie let herself relax a little as she followed Kate out of the house.

"You're all I ever could need.
Only one good thing worth trying to be,
And it's love."

"So what's up?" Kelly asked curiously.
Jill gave her a funny look.
"What?"
"I was expecting you to be pissed," she admitted.
"That you want to talk to me? Not at all," Kelly shook her head. "That you were completely rude to my girlfriend for no reason? Yea, that pissed me off a good bit, but there's no point in me getting mad about it right now. So what's up?"
"Um, can we...would you like something to eat?"
"Sure," she nodded, following Jill to the kitchen, hoping it would make her relax enough to talk.
Jill placed a plate full of food in front of her as the Texan sat at the table. "I was starving when I got in this morning so I went straight to the kitchen," Jill explained. "I figured I would fix me and Kate something to eat. It was almost done, so I went to wake her up. She was sleeping on the couch."
Kelly nodded, "So you yelled at her?"
"I wasn't expecting you to be here with her."
"Carrie," Kelly corrected. "And we weren't planning on staying over. Actually, Kate was supposed to be staying with us at Carrie's last night, but a bunch of stuff happened, so..."
"I don't hate you, you know."
"Well that's good," Kelly took a bite of eggs.
Jill looked at her questioningly.
"I don't model my life around other people," Kelly shrugged. "I've seen so much shit in this industry. Trust me, I learned a long time ago that not everybody is gonna like me, and that some will down right hate me. I can care less. It's not their--or your--life; it's mine. I will live it how I see fit, and I will not sit around pouting because other people do not approve of what makes me happy. I've worked way too hard, and life is way too short for me to do that."
"I never expected I'd be grouped with the enemy."
"Neither did I. Funny how things change."
"Kelly, don't be upset."
"I'm not upset," she shook her head calmly. "I see that look in your eyes. Is that what you're waiting for? For me to break down? For me to beg you to forgive me? For me to say I'll gladly dump Carrie if it means we'll be friends again?"
Jill's cheeks turned a light pink.
"It's not going to happen," Kelly informed her. "I'm not going to break down over this. You think you not approving of my relationship is the worst thing going on in my life right now? You don't have a clue about the mess that just blew up. And you think I'm going to beg for forgiveness? I have done nothing wrong," she said firmly. "And I'm surely not going to dump Carrie just to appease someone else, even if it's a friend of mine. She means way too much to me, and we have been through way too much together to just throw it all away because of someone else's inability to understand."
Jill frowned, "I didn't expect you to be so..."
"So what?"
"So set."
"My relationship with Carrie is not up for debate."
"I just didn't think you were that serious about her."
"What?" Kelly asked in disbelief. "So what? You thought I'd just have meaningless sex with someone? And not just anyone, but someone that if word got out about it, it could totally ruin my career? Do you even know me?"
"I thought I did," Jill sighed.
"What does that mean?"
"I was hoping it was just some fling...that maybe you would be back to normal soon."
Kelly tensed.
"I was thinking maybe if I talked to you about it--"
"Normal?" Kelly questioned, her voice coming out strained as she fought to stay calm. "Did you honestly just say that to me?"
"Yea?"
Kelly nodded, "Alright, listen to me..." She paused, taking a deep breath. "You know what, no. I'm not gonna do this because I'd just be doing it out of anger, and I'll totally regret that later."
"Where are you going?" Jill asked, confused as Kelly stood up.
"I'm gonna go wait outside for Kate and Carrie to return. Call me in a couple days, and if I still feel the strange combination of wanting to throw up and wanting to kick your ass in hopes of knocking some sense into you, I'll fire you then."
"You'll what?" Jill followed her to the door.
"You heard me," Kelly turned back to face her. "Do you think even if I weren't dating Carrie, that I would put up with you saying something like that? That kind of ignorant hatred is so far from what I'm about and from what my music is about, it's not even funny."
"But...but you can't fire me."
"Why not? I'm the one that hired you."
"What about Kate?"
"I told Kate back when you found out that she had a spot in the lineup for as long as she wanted, even if you were no longer with us."
"But you can't fire me."
"I'm giving you one last chance."
"Well, then I quit," Jill replied quickly.
Kelly nodded, listening to the sound of a car pulling up the driveway, "Alright. So do you want to tell Kate, or do you want me to do it?"
"You know she's not going to stay with you if I'm not there," Jill shook her head. "And then you'll realize how big of a mistake this is."
"I think Kate's a lot more independent than you give her credit for," Kelly replied. There was a soft knock on the door before it opened.
"Hey," Carrie greeted, wrapping an arm around Kelly. "Got you the biscuit thing that you love."
"Thanks," Kelly smiled in reply.
"What's going on?" Kate asked, walking in behind Carrie. "Why's everybody standing in the doorway?"
"Jill?" Kelly turned to her.
"Kelly fired me," Jill replied.
"No, I didn't," Kelly shook her head when Kate turned to her. "I gave her another chance. She didn't want to take it, so she quit."
Carrie pulled Kelly closer, kissing her temple.
"You quit?" Kate looked at Jill in shock. "Why would you do that?"
"I'm standing up for what I believe in," Jill defended.
"You're not standing up for crap," Carrie cut in.
"Shh..." Kelly whispered.
Kate patted Carrie's arm.
"Kate, come on. We don't need this," Jill argued. "Let's just move back to L.A. We were so close to making it when we were over there."
Kate shook her head. "I'm staying here. Kelly said I could stay even if you didn't," she turned to Kelly nervously.
Kelly nodded reassuringly.
"So you're going to throw everything away...everything that we worked so hard for...you're gonna throw it all away for them?" Jill asked incredulously.
"You're the one throwing it all away," Kate countered. "Do you realize how much our fanbase has grown thanks to Kelly? And do you think we would be able to afford the better producers and equipment that we have now if we weren't working for her? Stop and think about how many more contacts we have now than we did back when were trying to make it by ourselves."
"It's too late," Jill shook her head.
"It's not too late," Kelly replied, taking Carrie's hand. "We have rehearsals tomorrow for the upcoming promo. Show up and the job is still yours. If not...well, I know plenty of singers out there that would kill for your spot."
Jill frowned.
Kelly turned to Kate, "We're gonna head out. We have a bunch of meetings we need to go to. Thank you so much for last night. You really helped us out a lot."
Kate gave a small smile, accepting a hug from her, "It's all gonna work out. Just remember that you did nothing wrong, ok? Don't let anything anybody else says get to you."
She nodded, "Thanks."
"Bye Carrie."
"Bye," Carrie gave a wave.
"Thanks for breakfast."
"It's the least I could do after kicking you out of your bed."
Kate nodded, sighing as Jill walked away.
"Don't get too upset about it," Kelly said softly. "You just can't change the way some people think."
"Since when did you become so clam?" Carrie smiled.
"I don't know," Kelly shrugged. "It's like I woke up and all of a sudden I'm Ghandi or something."
The other two blondes laughed lightly.
"I just..." Kelly turned to Carrie. "I know what's important, and nothing or no one is going to change the way I feel about you."
Carrie smiled, "That's good. Although I was totally prepared to come in and duke it out with Jill."
Kate nodded, "She seriously was. It was pretty entertaining to watch her get pysched up."
"Yea?" Kelly smiled, her hand brushing down Carrie's arm.
"Yea, she was saying stuff like, 'Nobody's gonna stand in the way of me and my girl. I don't even care if it's her own Mama.'," Kate replied.
Kelly raised an eyebrow, "Really?"
"Now see," Carrie smiled innocently. "Like she said, I was just getting myself pyshced up. I would never hit your mother, baby."
"Baby?"
"Just don't want to be in the doghouse."
Kelly couldn't help but giggle, "When did I ever put you in the doghouse?"
"Never, and let's keep it that way," Carrie nodded.
Kelly leaned forward, kissing her lightly.
"And that's my cue..." Kate smiled.
"Wait, Kate," Kelly stopped her from turning. "Seriously...thank you, and not just for helping us out yesterday, but for sticking by us."
Kate shrugged, "You guys just keep being cute and in love like that, and we'll call it even."
"Deal," Kelly nodded as Carrie opened the door. "See you at rehearsals tomorrow?"
"Definitely," she replied, before the two singers turned and walked out of the house.
