Part Twelve – The Spell of the Djinn
When Kyo heard the click, and the sway of his door, his eyes went wide. He slowly picked himself up off of his hands, going on his knees to turn his face so he could look over his shoulder. He retracted his claws slowly, placing his hands on his own thighs.
“Toshiya, are you still there?” He whispered, surprised. He got up onto his feet, turning fully as he did so. Kyo’s eye locked onto the door, looking out past it into the darkness of the room. There was no light; save for that which surrounded his cage so he could see. Toshiya had taken the room’s other lights with him otherwise. “Toshiya?” He licked his fangs, gently, and then he began to move towards the exit of his cage, caution in each step. How had the door to his cage gotten open? There was no way that Toshiya had opened it, was there? And after that argument? Why would the other do such a thing after that? Still, curiosity filled the blonde pixie – curiosity and the need to be free. Slowly, he made his way out into the darkness of the foreboding room and there, no light turned on to greet him once he stepped from the halo surrounding his personal prison. It was so strange. The light had flickered to life for Kaoru, always. . . for Shinya when he’d come. . . . And it had even burned for Toshiya’s descent into this little slice of the underworld. But, why did the light not burn for Kyo? Behind him, the lights, which made it possible for him to see while in his cage, flickered out. Completely.
He was in the perfect darkness, alone. He felt his breath catch, and he squinted lightly, hoping to be able to make out shapes in the endless midnight around him. In the forest, he’d been able to see well at night . . . but there had always been the natural light of the stars, or the moon herself. This darkness held nothing of such inside of it, for it was unnatural – created from the soul of the one whom owned the room.
After a moment of hesitation, Kyo continued to move, reaching out his hands so that he could feel before him so that he would not fall over anything, or knock anything down as he went. He’d seen some of the items that Kaoru kept, and there were more than one or two that he wished never to disturb.
“I wish I could see.” He growled softly to himself, his hands still out before him, trying to grasp at nothing. But then, he could see something . . . and feel something. Glittering smoke seemed to curl around his outstretched left hand, snaking around between his fingers. The smoke moved up the back of his hand, to curl around his wrist, and then it slithered up his arm like a feather light serpent. As it slid, it became bigger, thicker, and gained more weight upon him. He kept still, not knowing what it was. Kyo’s eyes were wide and somewhat startled. The smoke curled around his shoulders and then down his bare chest and his waist. It rested there, like a trained snake. Or a wild one bent upon crushing its prey with its coils. Kyo was very still in its hold, his breath coming quickly.
“Prince of Dragons, that’s no wish to make . . . when you have such lovely eyes in your head already.” The smoke seemed to tighten its hug around him, sliding around his waist slowly, and then going up over his chest once again, to wrap over his shoulders, under his arm, and then around his neck. The voice, which belonged to the glittering mass, was playful, teasing. Sensual in the strangest way. It sounded right in his ear, a hot breath against the lobe. “Give me a good wish - something from within your heart to grant- and I will make sure the result leaves you breathless . . .”
“What are you?” Kyo asked, gulping softly as the smoke seemed to massage the skin of his throat. He closed his eyes. This reminded him of the Training Chair, and he hoped it did not have the same point to it. But then, why would it be speaking of wishes?
“What am I?” The voice whispered in his ear. There was a soft laugh in the tone the smoke carried, and slowly, it unwrapped itself from the pixie. The smoke shimmered as it stretched out away from Kyo, and curled on itself for a moment. Then, it stretched up – taking the form of a Sidhe as it began to grow solid. The person formed was tall and leggy like Toshiya. As pretty as well, and the vision made Kyo take a step back. And then the face took on more defined features, and Kyo let out a soft sigh – happy the smoke hadn’t chosen to take the form of the one he’d just argued with. The figure opened its . . . or, rather, his . . . eyes and smiled at Kyo blithely – a hint of mischief on the lips pierced with a twisted silver ring. He held out his arms and laughed, and then he did a strange little dance of excitement, and clapped his hands as Kyo watched, eyebrow slightly raised. “Oh, good, it worked! That means he’s not here!”
“What are you rambling on about?” Kyo asked, not taking his eyes off the elegant form before him. The strange, smoke made male was decked out in the strangest clothing he’d ever seen. Multi-hued and glittery – an assortment of patchworks and gauze wrappings. And bells. Lots of silver bells. Kyo thought he looked ridiculous. The figure looked at him with wild eyes of blue – the pupil sitting in the middle of the cobalt, wide and round and darker than the room around them. He grinned, showing both rows of his teeth.
“Our keeper is not with us, Prince of Dragons, so he can’t make me stay like smoke.” The grin on the other’s face did not go away. He moved closer to Kyo, and then circled him quickly, giggling as he touched the young pixie. His hands brushed over the scales on Kyo’s hips, down the ones on his back. And then over the formation of his wings, which were of course covered in a layer of skin to protect them while they were flattened to his back. Kyo jumped from the touch, causing the hyena-sounding thing to only cackle more. “What’s the matter, Little One? You do not like my touch?” The former smoke asked the question in Kaoru’s voice, making Kyo gasp and look away quickly. “Ah . . . so it’s like that!” Gently, the strange male took Kyo’s chin in his hand. When the pixie tried to pull away, the creature sighed softly and let him.
“Do not touch me.” Kyo growled out, turning his face towards the one who’d formed from smoke. The other pouted at him gently, looking truly hurt.
“I was only trying to see why he kept you as a slave.” The other said, with that same expression still etched onto his lovely features. Kyo turned his face from him once more, and did not catch the tiny, crafty smile that slipped across the other’s pierced lips. “I can see why. You are beautiful. And powerful. No wonder he keeps you. . “ He reached out again, and touched the collar around Kyo’s throat gently. “And perhaps you do not like it?”
The pixie slapped his hand away from the other then with a hiss that rolled through the air, baring his fangs at him as he did so. It made the other back from him, holding up his long fingers in submission – letting the dragon know he would not touch him again. At least for that second.
“You never told me what you are, so why should I even bother speaking to you. You’re just some ridiculous looking ass of a creature.” Kyo moved around the other, looking into the darkness and hoping he was going in the direction of his cage.
“I’m Miyavi.” The smoke man said, reaching out to touch the blonde’s arm lightly. “And I’m a prisoner, just like you are. That’s what I am yes. And I’m dressed this way, because our keeper likes it, you see. He likes to make an ass of me . . . He did it to you too, didn’t he? Making you wear those odd robes. He took your skirt from you. Your beautiful skirt . . . “
“How do you know these things?” Kyo hissed, moving his arm from the other’s touch in a jerk, holding it against himself once it was free. He’d turned then to the other, fully, looking at him carefully through narrowed, untrusting eyes.
“Because I saw them. I’m a prisoner too, you see. But unlike you, I’m not here to mate with him. I’m here because of my power alone. I’m a Djinn. A great Djinn. The last of my kind! I grant wishes, young Prince Kyo! I give the deepest desires to the hearts of those whom ask me to, you see! I’d like to give such a gift to you, Dragon born Pixie. Prince of the Serpent Wings . . .”
“Why would you do such a thing for me?” Kyo’s eyes told the one babbling on and on that he was wary of him. It made Miyavi smile within himself. The wary ones always had the worst ends, when it came down to it. They’d appreciate it more than the stupid, trusting ones ever would. Because they figured it served them right for falling under his spell. As this one was slowly doing.
“Because I’m a prisoner too. And when one is such, it never hurts to be helpful to another in the same boat.” His eyes made him look sincere, and he bowed down to the other. “Besides, it’s not right to keep us here like this, is it? Why shouldn’t we work together . . . You’d like to rebel from him wouldn’t you? Or are you going to be a slave, like Toshiya?” He tilted his head, the crafty look sparkling in his eyes as he saw something cross Kyo’s face. Something which told him he’d soon have the pixie right where he wanted him.
“I do not want to be a slave.” Kyo said, shaking his head. Miyavi nodded knowingly, and he came and wrapped his arms around the pixie gently.
“I know. Who would want to be that? I can change it for you, you know . . . You can prove to them all that you’ve not betrayed them to Kaoru.”
“Do my people truly think that?”
“Toshiya does. Just as you know he has given himself to that one. What’s his name? Oh yes, Lord Daisuke.” He spoke the name in Kyo’s ear in Toshiya’s voice. The sound of it was rich and heady with lust, making Kyo close his eyes and snarl as jealousy ate into his gut.
“I do not want to be a slave! I am not one!”
“Just tell me what you want Kyo, tell me what you wish . . . and I’ll give it to you. It will make you breathless . . .”
“I . . . I . . . wish . . .” Kyo began, feeling strange in the other’s arms. He felt held to the spot, the words just on the edge of his tongue. Was he being enchanted? Did he even care? No, he did not. He merely wanted to be away from this place, and Miyavi could give him that.
“What do you wish, my Little One?” Another whisper like Kaoru’s into the pixie’s ear, making his Djinn magic snake its way into the rebellious spirit in Kyo’s mind. Soon, this little pixie’s pretty soul would be his . . . Kyo just had to wish himself into a situation that would result in his ultimate death.
“I wish to be free from this collar, from this place. I wish not to be a slave any longer.”
“A very good wish, Kyo. And as it is my command . . . it is granted.” Miyavi kissed the shell of his point tipped ear, smiling as he did so – a soft giggle sounding from him. Kyo’s eyes were closed, and he was leaned into the taller male with a strange abandon. The spell around him had worked. “When you open your eyes, Prince of Dragons, you will be free.”
