~*~this chapters a little more violent than the others...~*~
Davey woke late the next day, stretching and smiling. He reached over and discovered Ville was not in the bed with him. This didn’t alarm Davey, since Ville usually got up before him, so he got out of bed, showered, pulled on fresh clothes and went to the kitchen.
Frank grinned up at him from behind his pop tart, “Good morning Davey.”
Davey flipped him off, “Have you seen Ralph?”
He shook his head and gestured to his left at Roxy.
“Have you seen him Roxy?” Davey asked.
She shook her head, “No. he wasn’t here when we got home.” She looked to Jade for confirmation, “But his car’s still here.” Her eyes turned thoughtful and her paranoia kicked in, “I’ll be back.” She said sprinting up the stairs.
Ville woke up groggy. His head ached and he was bound uncomfortably to a wall, ‘Not again.’ He sighed as he opened his eyes and discovered he was indeed chained to a wall in an unfamiliar room, “God damn it I hate getting kidnapped.” He said aloud, “I feel like Daphne from Scooby Doo.”
“You’re prettier.” Said a voice from the doorway.
Ville turned his pounding head in the direction of the voice and narrowed his eyes, “You?”
“Yes me.” Pete stepped into the room and walked up to Ville, “I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced. I’m Pete Wentz.” He grinned, “You’re Ville Valo, one time quite famous musician. And your,” his eyes narrowed and his face twisted into a gruesome mask, “boyfriend,” the expression vanished as if it had never been, “is the delectable Davey Havok, current famous musician.”
“So I have to ask,” Ville’s head stopped hurting, “what the fuck am I doing here?”
Pete shrugged and checked the chains keeping Ville pinned to the wall, “Bait for now. It’s only a matter of time before Davey comes after you, or the others do. Either way he’ll be alone.” He pinched Ville’s cheek, “After that, I’m going to play with your insides.”
Roxy burst into her room, throwing the door back so hard that it came off the hinges. She pulled out her cell phone and called Ville’s, pacing up and down the room as it rang. She sighed with relief when it was answered, “Oh I was worried! Where the hell are you? Your lover’s getting cold.”
“I’m sorry. Ville can’t come to the phone right now because he’s chained to the wall.”
Roxy almost dropped the phone, “Who is this and what have you done with Ville?”
“You ought to know who I am, since you’ve spent a good deal of time searching for me. And I haven’t done anything yet.”
Roxy sat down, “What do you want?”
“Davey.” The line went dead.
Roxy stared at the phone and put in her pocket before rushing back downstairs. She grabbed Frank and yanked him outside, “That vampire kidnapped Ville.” She whispered.
Frank looked at her puzzled, “How many times do you think you’ve had to speak those words?”
She smacked the back of his head, “Frankie! This is not funny!”
“Ow.” He rubbed his head, “I’m sorry. So what do we do?”
“We have to find him.” She sank into the wicker chair, “But I haven’t the faintest idea where to start.”
Frank sat next to her, “Should we tell Davey? I mean if he’s this big badass vampire hunter, surely he can help?”
Roxy looked at him shocked, “How long have you known?”
Frank winked at her, “How long have I known he’s a hunter, or how long did I know he wanted to kill me?”
Her jaw dropped.
“I’m really not an idiot.” He grinned, “I just play one on TV.”
Roxy shook her head, “And what are we supposed to tell him?”
“I don’t know. I don’t plan, I just do.” Frank shrugged.
“I don’t see how we can avoid telling him, but don’t tell him that Ville’s a vampire too. I don’t think he could handle that.” Roxy and Frank went back inside and sat at the table where Davey and Jade were having a tense conversation.
“Any word on Ralph?” Davey asked eagerly.
Roxy sat and grabbed Davey’s hand, “Someone else answered his phone. That guy who’s been killing all the people lately.”
Jade’s eyes widened, “The vampire?”
Davey looked at his friend, “I thought you didn’t believe.”
He blushed and coughed, “I, um, whatever.”
“Fine, the vampire has him! Davey, you’ve got to help us find him.” Roxy said carefully.
Davey raised an eyebrow, “And how am I supposed to do that?”
Frank slapped his palms on the table, “Your super network of vampire hunters all over the globe have to have something on him!”
Davey reeled back, snatching his hands out of Roxy’s, “What?”
“We don’t really have time!” Frank said sitting, “Get over it. You can try to kill me after you found Vi-Ralph.”
“I, don’t, what?” Davey was very confused.
“Look, he’s got to live nearby. It would be nice if we had a name or car, or anything.” Roxy looked to Frank, “I suppose we could just walk the neighborhood and look for a scent.”
“You know?” Davey whispered.
Roxy rolled her eyes at him, “Jade, you’re going to have to stay here.”
He glared at her, “While you run out and risk your life? I’m supposed to wait here just because I’m the only one not highly trained or supernatural?”
She glared back at him, “Exactly. I don’t want you getting hurt!”
Jade stood, “Too damn bad. You aren’t leaving without me!”
“You know Frank’s a vampire?” Davey squeaked.
Jade turned on him and rolled his eyes, “Yeah. Old news.” He turned his glare back on Roxy, “I’m not staying here.”
She banged her head on the table said into the placemat, “I guess I can’t stop you.”
He got up and went around the table, putting his arms around her, “I promise I won’t do anything stupid, but I’m not sitting here and wringing my hands.”
She looked up into his eyes, “Promise. Promise me that if things get bad, you’ll run.”
He kissed her forehead, “I promise.”
Frank made a rude noise, “Now can we focus on getting our friend back?”
“All I know is that his name is Pete.” Davey said, “I ran into him at The Funeral a couple of times and didn’t even suspect.” He shook his head pulling out his Sidekick. A few frantic text messages later and he looked back up at the crowd, “I’ve got a few possible addresses. There’s one down the street, one motel out on Foothill, a house by the mall and another one in Pomona.”
“So we go check each one.” Roxy said from her perch on Jade’s lap. She looked deep into Davey’s eyes, “Davey, he said he wants you.”
Davey’s eyebrows shot up into his hair, “What?”
“I don’t know, that’s what he said. I think Vil-Ralph’s just bait to lure you to him.”
“It doesn’t matter.” He shook his head, “We’re getting him out of there and I’ll kill Pete.”
“Not if we get to him first.” Frank growled, baring his fangs.
Roxy was hard pressed to keep from doing the same.
Ville looked around. He’d exhausted himself trying to pull the chains from the wall. Pete deserved some credit for making him so utterly helpless. He was aided by the fact that Ville hadn’t fed for a couple of days, so his strength wasn’t as it should have been.
The room looked like a garage. It was all bare concrete walls and floor with a peaked ceiling, but it had been seriously soundproofed, he couldn’t hear anything from outside, calling for help wasn’t an option either. His arms were spread to his sides and his legs were chained spread as well, putting an uncomfortable strain on his shoulders and groin. He was still shirtless and his hair was tickling his face. When he blew it up, it only fell back into place and made Ville want to scream.
Ville could not see any way to free himself.
“Let me ask you a question.” Pete said, walking into the room, “What have you got that kept Davey so loyal to you? I tried and tried to get him to come with me willingly, but his answer was always the same. ‘I’m with someone.’ What makes you so special?”
Ville only glared at him through the curtain of his hair.
“I can understand that you’re beautiful, but since when are looks enough to make someone so loyal? You must be a really great lay.” Pete walked up and stroked his cheek.
Ville bit his hand, drawing blood, “Fuck off.”
Pete laughed and let the wound bleed on the ground, “Alright. I just thought you might like to know that your friends have rallied and are coming to try and get you.” He didn’t add that he was surprised they were all in on it. He would have thought the mortals would have stayed at home.
Ville laughed, startling Pete, “You’re a fool. And you don’t have much time.”
Pete glared at him and left the room.
Ville renewed his struggles to free himself.
Davey, Jade, Roxy and Frank were at the last house on the list. A one story in Pomona that had a detached garage and a swimming pool. As soon as the got out of the car, Roxy and Frank’s heads went up.
“He’s here.” Frank said, sniffing the air.
“I’ll go after Pete. You get Ralph out of here.” Davey said, wrapping his hand around the 9mm he had tucked in the waistband of his jeans under a jacket, heading for the front door.
Roxy nodded, slapping a pipe against her thigh, and they followed a scent trail of blood to the garage. She broke off the handle and stepped inside, “Ville!”
His head snapped up as he took in who was coming in, “Roxy! Jesus Christ I’m even glad to see you Frankie!” he raised his eyebrow at Jade, but said nothing, “Where’s Davey?”
“He went after Pete.” Jade said, watching the door, a gun of his own in his hand.
Ville started to panic, “No! I was just bait so he could get his hands on him!”
“Relax. We’ll get you free and then we’ll go tear him to pieces.” Frank said.
He and Roxy each took a chain in hand and pulled. They protested as they came loose from the wall and Ville’s legs were finally allowed to relax. The process was repeated with the chains holding his arms and Ville dropped to the floor.
He snapped the cuffs on his wrists and ankles by himself, finally having the leverage to do so and stood, ignoring the pain as blood rushed back to his extremities, “Let’s go!” he gathered up a length of chain, intending to use it on Pete.
The group burst into the house as the first gunshot reverberated through the rooms.
Ville ran to the back room where Davey was shooting Pete in the face as he advanced on him, pieces of his skull flying away and regenerating in almost the same instant. Without pausing, Ville flew at Pete, punching him in the face with the fist that had the chain wrapped around it, “Fucker!”
Pete laughed and threw Ville against the wall hard enough to dent the plaster. He whipped out one arm and a blood gushed from the cut in his naked chest.
“Ralph!” Davey shot Pete again and again, emptying the clip in him.
It made little difference. Pete ignored the bullets as if they were no more than mosquito bites, grabbing Davey and pulling him to his chest, streaking the younger man with a mixture of his own and Ville’s blood, “At last, you’re here." Roxy stood in the doorway, trying to get a clear shot where she wouldn’t hit Davey. Frank had gone around back and broken the window, rolling in like a John Woo movie.
Roxy turned to Jade, “Get out of here!”
“Oh, the cavalry has arrived.” Pete said mockingly. He grunted in pain when Ville hit him the back of the head with his chained fist and collapsed.
Davey ran over to Ville and frantically searched his chest for the wound Pete had given him, “Ralph, I don’t understand!”
“Later!” Ville hissed, pale and sweating from losing so much blood.
Pete recovered quickly and tossed Frank back out the window when the boy tried to rush him with a wooden stake outstretched.
Frank landed on the wood, impaling himself through the gut all the way to his spine. He couldn’t move.
Roxy jumped in, hitting Pete across the face with a metal pipe, grinning evilly at the sickening crunch of bone as he went down again, “Ville, get them out of here!” she yelled at him, indicating Davey and Jade.
In the momentary distraction, Pete cut her Achilles’ tendons and she collapsed in a heap with a howl of pain.
“Roxy!” Jade ran in to the room and tried to pull her out.
“Fuck! Go! I’m fine!” she shoved him at the door, but not in time as Pete caught him and sank his fangs deep into the guitarist’s shoulder, tearing out a large chunk and lapping up the blood.
Jade screamed in agony, face contorting as he felt his blood run out of him and heard the swallowing sounds from the vampire attached to him.
Roxy couldn’t stand. She lashed out with her arm, but Pete neatly stepped out of her reach.
Ville growled and jumped on Pete, shoving Jade away from them, they went crashing through the wall into the next room.
Pete cut at him again and again, opening wounds as fast as they healed on Ville’s flesh.
Ville grayed out as Pete hit his jugular, but he kept his fangs firmly in the other man’s throat, drinking in blood to replenish his own supply that was running in rivers into the bad 70’s shag carpet. He tried not to wonder how much was Jade’s.
Roxy finally stood up and ran to Jade, who was sprawled limply against the wall. Davey was using his own shirt to try and stop the bleeding from the ragged hole in his shoulder. She pushed him away, taking his place holding the makeshift bandage, “Go get Frank!”
Frank was weakly scratching at the ground as feeling returned to his body and it forced the stake out.
Davey yanked it out the rest of the way, startled by the gush of blood, but he sat Frank up, watching the hole close now that the foreign object had been removed, “Come on!”
Frank ran inside with him and pulled Pete off Ville, snapping the bones in his arm and making him drop the knife. He snarled at Pete and picked up the knife, using it to slash at him, cutting his Clandestine jacket to ribbons, but not hurting the other vampire.
Davey managed to drag Ville away, actively not thinking about how his lover’s body was healing so quickly, or the shiny glint of fangs as he moaned with pain.
Roxy threw a sneaker she found on the floor at Davey, missing his head by inches, “Call an ambulance!” she screamed at him through tears. Jade was getting pale and his teeth were starting to chatter.
Davey fumbled his Sidekick out of his pocket and dialed 911.
The vampires heard the sirens in the distance long before Davey did. Pete snarled at Frank and jumped through the plate glass window. Frank went after him.
“Davey! Come here!” she pulled him down next to Jade and pressed his hands to the bloody shirt, “We can’t be here.” She whispered and picked up Ville, “Call?” she begged.
Davey nodded dumbly as his best friend continued to bleed.
