A/N: Alright, here's some surprise that I think I might want to throw out there : p Yay for series of events.
Cat had been keeping vigil over the ailing Spencer as the other three band members had engaged in talks about some means of business matters. At this very instant, Cat had been walking in, balancing some chicken broth on a tray. Spencer caught a waft of the scent of the food, for he opened an eye. “Not hungry,” he mumbled, turning his head away from the direction of the food. Cat sighed, placing the tray on the table before facing him. “You need something in your stomach.” Spencer shrugged indifferently. “What's the point? It's only going to come back up.”
Cat's laughter caused him to open the other eye, as both eyes narrowed. “And what is so funny?” Cat shook her head as she reached over to push some hair from over his eyes. “Why are men such babies when they're just the slightest bit sick?” Spence shrugged indifferently at this. “This is more than just a little sick. You try getting your stomach pumped, and tell me how hot you feel.” Cat shrugged indifferently in response. “How are you sure that I haven't had this done?” Spencer gave her a doubtful look. “Have you?”
That question had set Cat back into a chronological flashback which had caused her to go off into her own daze. “Cat?” She looked back at Spencer with a bit of a confused look. “Have you had your stomach pumped in the past?” Cat nodded, pulling her knees to her chest. “When I was first recovering from the injury. They say that pain will drive a person to madness. In all honesty, if you do not think that pain will ever pass, you are bound to go through any measure to put an end to it. I took a full bottle of Vicodin in a two hour period. It's a bit hazy after the fourth or fifth pill, but I do remember waking up. Blimey, I thought that my stomach would come out of my throat.”
Spencer gave Cat a meek look. “Sorry that happened to you. But yeah, you now see why it's not a good idea for me to eat? I haven't puked in the past hour, I think I want to keep it that way.” Cat sighed, scooting towards Spencer as he turned his head away. “You know, the faster you rid yourself of the bad, the sooner you will start to feel better.” Spence turned his head around, giving Cat a reproachful look. Eventually he relented and nodded, reaching for the bowl. “No, it's okay, I can feed it to you. That way, I can move it away the instant you start to feel sick.” The sick boy gave Cat a sheepish grin. “Sounds like a plan.”
Bit by bit, he allowed Cat to feed him the broth. It was in sipping this broth, that he realized how empty his stomach really was. Just as there was but one or two bites left, Cat suddenly spoke up. “Easy Spence, take it easy. You'll get sick if you keep eating that fast.” Though, just as she had been saying that, Spencer's color had started to vanish from his face. He put a hand to his mouth. “Too late... Bucket please.” With ease, Cat reached for the conveniently positioned trash can, holding it under Spencer just in the nick of time. “Oh God, it burns,” he moaned in the midsts of again emptying what little he had in his stomach. Cat rubbed small circles on his back reassuringly. “There there, it'll pass... Better out than in.” she whispered soothingly in his ear.
When Spencer had finished with the vomiting, Cat merely attended to cleaning up the mess. When she returned by his side, she pressed a cold rag against his forehead as he lay there with eyes closed. “I tell myself to get over it. I mean, you'd think that after so long, I'd be over her, right?” Catrianna sighed as she continued to dab along his face with the rag. “Love works in tricky ways. I suppose one has to take baby steps when it really gets you down. But you know, the friendship you and Becca share, not many share that friendship. She loves you, just more as a brother.” Spence shook his head as he heard that phrase. “I've heard that 'love you like a brother' phrase too many times for my liking when the breakup first happened. I'm not sure if that really consoles me much.”
Cat tilted her head in observance. “I know you haven't spoken to many lately about the issue. Though sometimes there are still aspects of life that are better said. Rather than to let these feelings implode within, you ought to talk to Becca. You'll come to find that she is rather easy to talk to.” The girl cracked a small smile as her blue eyes shone mischievously. “And it could spare the rest of us a great deal of drama.” Spence responded by rolling his eyes. “Funny Cat...” Cat shook her head. “No really Spence-” The boy cut her off, silencing her. “I know... I'll think about it.”
Cat smiled faintly at Spencer as all grew silent. There came a moment where he was at the point of dozing off. Though, he opened one eye sleepily. “Cat?” Cat reacted by marking her book, setting it on the table. “Yes?” Spencer closed his eye, though still spoke, in the midsts of a yawn. “He loves you. I don't think I've ever seen him that happy before.” Catrianna had been relieved that Spencer had dozed off from here, for she hadn't been able to mask that brilliant blush that had crept along her cheeks.
She must have dozed off, because soon, she felt someone tapping on her shoulder. “Cat?” Catrianna opened her eyes in hearing Ryan's voice. “Ry?” she asked thickly, stifling a yawn before smiling faintly at Ryan, brushing her lips against his in greeting. Ryan returned the kiss, before looking at the sleeping Spencer. “How's the patient.” Cat smiled fondly as her gaze lingered on Ryan. “Peacefully asleep just after puking out his entrails.” Ryan had an almost grossed-out look to him, as he was always a bit on the squeamish side around people puking. “TMI,” he muttered, though he rubbed Cat's back soothingly. The girl immediately relaxed at Ryan's touch and nuzzled close. “Mmm Ry,” she sighed. Ryan grinned faintly before staring at Cat. “If you want, I'll watch over him. You ought to go check on Becca and the gang, just to see how they're doing.”
Cat stared apprehensively between Ryan and Spencer, though she had never seen a music video in the making. This did spur interest in her. She responded by giving Ryan a quick peck on the cheek. “I'll get ready, then be on my way.” Ryan smiled, as he returned the peck. “Great, it's good for you to enjoy yourself more often.” Cat smiled briefly at her boyfriend before slipping out of the room.
“Trying to get the girl to leave the house? That usually means you want to talk to me man-to-man.” Ryan raised his eyebrows at Spencer. “Weren't you supposed to be sleeping?” Spencer opened his eyes. “I was pretending to sleep so that she wouldn't try to feed me anymore. Do you really want to know what food does to me?” Ryan waved his friend off. “No man, that's quite alright.” Spence grinned weakly, as watching Ryan's face twist to that grossed-out look was always funny.
He sat up cross-legged, feeling slightly better. “So, you were wanting to say something to me? It better not be you proposing to me, I don't go that way.” Ryan coughed as Spencer said proposal and looked away. “Ry, you're not fooling me. You know I deal with the financial stuff for the band. The jeweler's bill ended up in my stack of billing.” Ryan responded by clapping a hand to his forehead. “So, you know I want to propose to Cat?”
Spencer's eyes widened. “AHA!!!! I KNEW IT!!” He lay back down on his bed, sides about to split in laughter “Oh God, this hurts... But I said I saw a jeweler's bill. I never said I knew what you bought. You're wanting to pop the question aren't you?” Ryan went up to Spencer and pressed a finger against his lips. “Shut up! Do you want everyone else to hear?” Spence shook his head. “Relax. If they hadn't caught on by now, I don't know what to think... So, do you have the ring on you?” Ryan gave Spence an outraged look before he reached into his pocket, pulling out a velvet box which he handed to Spencer. Spencer opened the box, and sure enough, there had been a ring there. “Aww, look at Ry! All grown up and proposing!”
Ryan blushed deeply, only causing Spencer to laugh so hard to the point he had made himself sick again. Fortunately, Ryan had quick enough reflexes to shove the bucket under him right when it happened. Given that it was only water, it wasn't all that bad. Still, Ryan grimaced as he cleaned it all up. “You really need to work on relaxing. You know that would have landed on me, right?” Spencer smirked as Ryan cleaned around his mouth, then closed his eyes. “And you just had to block it didn't you?” Ryan rolled his eyes.
Moments passed, and Spence hardly made a sound. “Spence, you asleep?” Spence tiredly opened an eye. “I was before you woke me up. Go to the shoot, see if you can get some candid shots for me.” Ryan laughed, reaching for the velvet ring box, which he shoved in his pocket. “Yeah, given that you can't take the candid shots this time? Sure, I'll get some good ones. Later.” Spencer nodded at this snuggling deeply into his blankets. “Later.” Ryan was soon of to the location of the video shoot.
Fortunately, he had gotten there on time. Cat had been having the worst time getting past security. Apparently they hadn't known her quite well. He hurried by her side. “Hey, it's no problem, she's with me.” The security guards gave Cat smug looks before they nodded at Ryan. “Alright, we'll let her pass.” Ryan nodded, leading Cat by the arm as she grumbled under her breath. “Keep smirking like that and I'll show you smug, you bloody sniveling-” She was cut off just as she got to the scene of the set, to which her jaw dropped in amazement. “Pretty cool huh?” Ryan asked, looping an arm around her. Cat nodded in agreement. “Very.”
They had made their way to the refreshment table as Ryan stared at the surroundings. “The musical world is a crazy one. Do you think you could ever spend your life living in it...? Cat?” Ryan had just been randomly trying to see how he would get this question out when he noticed that Cat had been glaring a murderous glare at the redheaded girl from the previous night. Ryan sighed, knowing this wasn't the time nor the place for this question, so perhaps another time. He put an arm around Cat, hugging her closely. “Cat, don't worry about her, really...”
Cat was beyond being civil as she had immediately sauntered towards Lilly, arms crossed. “What are you doing here? You know you're not welcome, do you not?” The redhead stopped flirting with one of the male hairdressers, apparently she had no sense of gaydar whatsoever, else she'd know that he was clearly flaming. “Look who's trying to act all superior. Catrianna Sinclair, you are in no place to say who is welcome and who is not.”
“No, but I am.” Ryan stepped behind Cat, placing a hand on her shoulder, where he kissed her briefly on the cheek. “Please Cat, stand aside, let me deal with this.” He turned to Lilly, staring her down before speaking. “She may not have any authority in business affairs here, but I do. I don't know how you got past security, but I assure you that after that advance last night that could very easily be reported as sexual assault on one of the band's members, I'm sure security would be more than willing to escort your sorry ass out of here.”
Lilly smirked, surveying Ryan as she stepped up to him. “So, the dyke speaks? Apparently he is a guy after all, is he not?” Cat immediately lunged, only to be caught by Ryan. “Look, insulting me does not put you at a better level. Before I get more involved, it might do you a lot of good to just leave. Cat! What are you doing?” Cat had managed to wriggle out of Ryan's grasp, just enough to jump tackle Lilly. Now, she had her pinned to the ground.
“Really Catrianna, you don't have the guts. You never did, you were always so pathetically naive. Remember how easily you were led onto the roof. Just the minor slip-” BAM! Cat had punched her hard on the nose, bloodying it. “Keep talking, I dare you.” Lilly put a hand to her nose, realizing the blood. Green eyes met blue eyes. Oh, now it was on. Lilly had managed to push Cat off just enough so that she could tackle her herself. Cat lost her balance and fell back, cringing as she smashed her wrist. That had twinged quite a bit. Though, she had no time to react to that, as she felt a punch smashing against her right eye. She screamed out in a fury as she again tackled her.
“Guys! Get this footage!!” Camera men immediately started recording the doings of this fight. Ryan cursed under his breath as he then dived in to stop it. He forcibly caught Cat by the crook of the arm and yanked her back. He had significant strength over over, therefore he was able to overpower her. “Cat! No, you don't want this plastered all over the news.” Cat cried out in anger, still struggling against Ryan. “I don't care, someone get this bleeding cow out before I kill her myself!”
“Is that a death threat Miss. Sinclair?” Ryan looked back angrily at the cameramen, clearly agitated. “No, she's not making any death threats! Cat! NO!” Fortunately, security had intervened, and the cameramen were out of sight. Ryan was still struggling on holding her back when he saw that Becca had taken it upon herself to start dishing out her demands.
“What the hell is going on here?! Lilly, I didn’t invite you to my shoot, you are not on the extras list, so leave or you will be forcibly taken from here. I see you on my set again and I will call the authorities on you. And I’m sorry, but until I can speak with a supervisor or such, the MTV cameras are banned as well, so kindly cut the cameras and get off my set. I am not having some circus on my shoot. So, leave! All of you, out!”
Ryan breathed in relief as he saw Lilly being escorted off the set by security, and had turned to Cat. He wasn't one to be angered by Cat easily, but her behavior could have caused a great deal of trouble. “Cat, what were you thinking? Have you any idea what that footage caught can cause? Cat?” A silent Cat was never a good sign, and she had remained deathly silent. He reached for her left wrist to which she recoiled after a gasp of pain. Peering closer, he caught sight of swelling.
Waving over some first aid personnel, he immediately had them look at the wrist. It had been a bit of a sprain. Nothing to major. It would have to be splinted for some time. Ryan had been holding an ice pack to Cat's blackening eye as the medics worked on splinting the wrist. “I'm sorry. Maybe I don't fit into this world after all.” The words have choked out as tears slipped from Cat's eyes. How could she fit here, if she had lost her cool at such a vital time. Ryan put the ice pack down and peered at the apparently crying girl. “You fit in just right. Like all of us at some point, you lost your cool. This doesn't mean you don't belong... Oh Cat.” Once the medics had been done splinting her sprained wrist, Cat had burst into tears, burying her face into Ryan's chest. Ryan sighed, rubbing her back soothingly. Time had passed, and fortunately things had calmed down to the point that the shoot could continue.
As the last scene of the video progressed, Ryan had taken himself to sitting off to the sides with Cat, watching the personnel scurrying about. In attempt to make her grin, he pointed Becca out to Cat. “Get a load of the head cheerleader over there.” Cat laughed lightly, though still found herself clinging rather tightly to Ryan. “The look suits her,” Cat observed shakily, though she was able to add character by showing a smirk. Ryan reached for the camera, and snapped a picture of Rebecca Wentz clad in the uniform. “You better believe the guys are going to see this.”
A/N: And there's that chapter... More to come, and *starry eyed* Tomorrow I am forced into a family vacation where I am not sure if I'll really have Internet access. We can only hope *Crosses fingers* R & R!!! Thanks :P
