Everlasting Love(Pt13)
Philip strolled into his father’s house just after 11:30pm, locking the door behind him. The house was quiet, he knew that his parents were out on the town and wouldn’t be back until the sun came up. Amber wasn’t feeling well, that much he gathered the past few months and was most likely asleep. Uncle Sav was still locked in his room pouting. Philip shook his head. “Stubborn old men.”
Philip went to the kitchen and poured a glass of orange juice from the carton. Tipping the glass to his lips, he nearly choked when the stillness of the house was broken. The scream came from upstairs, then a loud crash. Philip sat his glass down and ran up the stairs two at a time.
He raced down the hall, following a deeper yell and more loud thumps. He skidded to a halt inside Sav’s room, quickly sweeping his eyes over the scene before him.
Amber lay on the floor, clothes torn away exposing her naked body. The two small puncture holes on her neck came into sharp focus in the hall light. Philip rushed to her side, dropping to his knees. He saw the quarter size drops of blood across her chest. Amber’s face was pale, more blood on her mouth, the bruises on her wrist. Philip reached out and gently shook her, calling out to her.
Movement a short distances away grabbed his attention, a deep groan filtered to his ears. Philip watched Sav struggled to stand, holding his arm across his stomach, blood dripped from his chin and streaked his dirty white shirt. Sav stumbled and fell to his knees, slumping forward to rest his head on the carpet.
Philip knew better than to help him, he didn’t know what was wrong with Sav and Philip thought he had seen his fangs in his mouth. He turned back to Amber and felt for a pulse, then listened to her chest to hear if she was breathing. He sat up quick as Sav bolted from floor, still on his knees, his head titled backward as another scream ripped from his throat.
Philip cringed from the sound, fear gripping him as Sav feel backwards, and rolled to his knees, once again he tried to get to his feet.
Sav only made it another few steps before he collapsed on the floor again and his body shuddered violently.
Philip slipped his arms under Amber’s shoulders and behind her knees. Picking her up he carried her out of the room and down the hall to her bedroom. Once there he gently laid her down and pulled the blanket from the foot of the bed over her. He then raced back to Sav's room just in time to see him bolt from the floor again, a deep rumbling groan filtered from his mouth, then a large amount of liquid spewed from his mouth to the floor. Moment later he collapsed to the floor.
Joe flew into the room a few minutes later, sweeping his gaze over the semi darkened room. He clearly smelled the scent of Amber, but didn't see her anywhere. The next smell that filtered through his nostrils was sex and an odd smelling blood.
“Amber was was in here, o-on the floor. She was naked, blood all over her."
Joe spun around to face his face his frightened son.
"Dad…I..I think…she's dead o-or is close...”
"Where is she?" Joe hurriedly asked.
"I took her down to her room."
Joe was gone in a blur, skidding to a halt over Amber' still form. Blood stained her neck where the bit marks where, some had trickled down her neck to mat in her dark hair.
Worry clearly in his voice, Philip timidly asked, "Is she?"
“No, her heartbeat is very faint.” Anger boiled rapidly to the surf. Joe could smell Sav all over her, knew what they had done and that Sav had tried to bring her across.
Another pain filled yell split the air down the hall. Pain swarmed in Joe’s mind, making him dizzy. When the feeling passed, Joe flew from the room back to where Sav lay balled up on the floor. Joe dropped to his knees to roughly turned him over.
“What have you done?!” Joe angrily hissed.
“...finish…bring h..her back….” Sav coughed, blood bubbled from his mouth to run down the side of his face. He opened his eyes and met Joe’s, another more violent shudder past through him. “...finish….hurry…”
Joe sprang to his feet and rushed out of the room again, slicing his wrist as he went. He pressed the open wound to Amber lips, he whispered softly to her, the glanced up at Philip’s ashen face when he rejoined him.
“Philip.” Joe said as calmly as he could. “Go downstairs, bring back as many uncut bottles of blood as you can carry. Hurry.”
Philip ran from the room.
Joe finally felt the slow sluggish pulls on his veins as his daughter came back from near death. He breathed a sigh of relief and called out to her in a louder voice. Joe struggled to ignore the yells down the hall from Sav, they were deeper, filled with an agonizing pain that was sweeping through his mind, pulling hard for him to return to Sav's side. He fought it to stay with his daughter until she was out of danger.
Philip rushed back into the room, followed by Evelyn. Joe took one of the bottles and wrenched his arm from Amber. She sat up and snatched it from his hand.
“Philip, I want you to leave now.” Joe told him. “Go to your room and do not come out unless I came and get you. Evelyn you must leave too. I don’t know what’s going on with Sav and I don’t want to take any chances. Amber will be fine once she drinks enough of this, she will go to sleep...for awhile as he body changes."
Evelyn took Philip’s hand and led him from the room. They knew not to argue the matter and quickly left.
Joe waited for Amber to finish her second bottle and lay back on the bed. Telling her that her body will be going through many more changes that will be very exhausting. Joe implores her that she must sleep. Once he knew that she was resting comfortable, he left the room, closing the door behind him. Breathing another sigh of relief that he knew Amber was going to be alright, Joe quickly made his way back down to Sav's room. Dropping to his knees again, he pulled Sav over and into his arms. Joe could feel the sweat on him, the constant shaking of his body, more blood tirckling from his mouth.
Sav opened his eyes, his throat working to keep the deep red liquid down. “Joe…is she…”
“Amber is going to be fine.” Joe said softly and pulled the blood soaked hair back that clang to Sav’s face.
“I…I’m sor….” His words were cut off as blood once again spilled from his mouth. Sav’s body tensed and he wrapped his arms around his stomach again. He turned in Joe’s arm, another cry of pain was cut short. Joe felt his body heave several times, before more of the contents of his stomach spilled out onto the carpet. The acidic smell of the blood burned Joe’s nostrils and the amount that Sav vomited scared him.
‘This isn’t right…’ Joe kept repeating in his head. 'He shouldn’t be this way. Why is he doing this? It’s Ambers blood that he throwing up.’
Sav jerked in his arms, took a shallow breath, he continued to shake.
Joe dragged him across the floor away from the pool of foul smelling crimson. He leaned over to try and see his face.
“Sav…” Joe called out as his tensed up again, a low grunt rumbled in his chest. “Tell me what’s wrong.” The only reply that came from Sav was another violent shutter, his muscles tight all along his body.
“I told...” Sav struggled to speak. “..th..that I wou....d.die for you.” A strained smile barely touched his lips before he coughed up more blood.
“What?” Joe had felt him in his mind since the restaurant, now he was slipping away. He heard the gargle of a deep breath as Sav exhaled.
“Rick….”Joe touched his cheek. The emptiness filled his mind, much different than before when he was blocking Sav.
Joe reached out to find him. “Rick.” Joe called again and shook him, running his hand along his cheek. “NOOO!….” Joe yelled and crushed Sav’s trembling body to his chest. “...wake up…tell me what’s wrong….” his voice broke when he didn’t’ get any kind of response.
The last few months and their betrayal vanished from his mind. The only thing that matter to him at that very moment was his daughter and the man he held tight to his chest. “D-don’t go.”

Evelyn eased the door open to Sav’s room and peeked in. The room was deathly quiet and dimmer than before. Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open further and went inside. Evelyn moved closer to Amber to check on her. Having never witnessed someone brought across she didn’t know what to look for. Amber seemed to be sleeping comfortably now. The lines of age already disappearing, her skin unmarred, pale, but a healthy appearance. Evelyn touched her face and felt the coolness, much like Joe’s.
Evelyn left the room, making her way down the hall, cautiously stepping into Sav's room, she quietly made her way around the bed to where Joe sat on the floor holding Sav, rocking him slowly back and forth, a soft incoherent mumbling coming from his lips.
In the dim light from the rapidly approaching sunrise, Evelyn gasped when she saw the dark pool of blood a few feet away from them. She had no idea what was going on, she had taken a big chance by even coming into the room.
Evelyn stood and spun toward the door, she ran down the hall to Philip’s room.
“Philip, I need your help. Go down to the White Horse Pub, try and find Tiny or Scott and bring them back here.”
”Why Mom?”
“Don’t ask questions. Just tell them that Sav brought Amber across and now something is wrong with him.”
”I know something is wrong, but doesn’t Dad know what it is?”
“Damnit Philip.” Evelyn grabbed is arm and pushed him out the door. “If he did, he wouldn’t be acting like he is. Now get your ass moving and hurry up.”
Philip ran out to his car and speed off. He knew not to argue with his mother and did as she asked. Arriving 20 minutes later at the pub, Philip raced inside. He circled the room twice, asking several people if they had seen Tiny or Scott…no he heard repeatedly. Philip cursed under breath. Why couldn’t I just get one of their other friends? No mom said whom and he wasn’t about to bring someone else. Then again, who would he get? Everyone looked rather drunk and would be of no help. Philip left the pub and headed home.

Evelyn was pacing the living room when he came back in.
“They weren’t there and nobody has seen them.”
“Damn.” Evelyn huffed.
“What are we gonna do mom?”
”I know kind of what to do with Amber, it’s a big risk for me though…but I have too. And you, stay in your room or go to Sarah’s house for the next few days.”
”I’ll stay here just in case you need me.”
Evelyn went to the kitchen and grabbed more bottles.
“Mom what about Phil? Did you call him? Or Nick.”
“No answer at either place.”
“They could be on the way here.”
”Lets hope so.” Evelyn said and went upstairs.

The sun was already turning the horizon a pale blue when Nick landed on the balcony of Sav’s room. Slamming the palm of his hand on the doors, they flew open with a loud bang, breaking several of the panes of glass.
The stench of old blood hit him, another smell…he couldn’t identify mixed with that. Nicks high senses alerted him to a newly made vampire and who that person was, but unlike Joe, Nick fouced his soul attention on the man he had felt the pain from. He stepped around the pool of dried blood, cautiously making his way over to Joe and Sav.
Squatting down beside them, Nick fisted his hand over his mouth, the stench of acidic blood and sweat almost unbearable to his scenes. Nick was taken back by what little of Sav’s appearance that he could see. Convulsions sieged his body as Nick looked on. Blood was crusted in his hair and smeared on Joe’s shirt. Nick could feel Joe’s anguish, but Sav was just....not there.
Joe had his face buried in Sav’s shoulder, still rocking him, Nick could barely hear him mumbling.
“Joseph.” Nick tried to see his face. He reached out and gripped Joe’s shoulder to get his attention.
Joe’s head shot up, tears streaked his face. “Get away!” he yelled at him.
“Let me take Rick. I need to find out what’s wrong.” Nick said calmly and reached out to pull Sav from him.
Jerking Sav out of his reach, Joe screamed, “NO!”
“Joe listen to me. Something is terrible wrong, I must take him…”
Joe suddenly shoved Nick away and struggled with Sav’s body to turn his back on Nick.
Evelyn came into the room. “Nick, I’m so glad you’re here.”
“I came as fast as I could.”
”What’s wrong with Sav?”
”I don’t know. Joe will not let me take him.” Nick eased quietly down beside them again. Staying behind Joe so he couldn’t see him. Nick reached for Sav’s arm that lay to Joe’s side and slowly brought it up so not to startle Joe and make him snatch it away. Nick leaned forward a bit as he brought Sav’s wrist his lips. He let his fangs drop and eased them into the cool flesh. Nick softly tugged on the vein, the blood hit his tongue, he yanked Sav’s wrist free and quickly spit the blood out.
He glanced around for a bottle. “Drink.” He nearly yelled.
Evelyn rushed over to the bedside table, grabbing one she ran back over to Nick and handed it to him.
Nick gulped down the uncut blood. He dropped the bottle to his lap and wiped his mouth. “He’s been poisoned.”
“Poisoned. How can that be?”
Nick thought about the other smells in the room. “Has Amber been sick?”
“She’s had a cold for a few weeks.” ”A common cold wouldn't do this to him.”
”You don’t think…?”
”I don’t know what to think right now Evelyn. Not until I can find out what is or was wrong with Amber.” Nick stood up and started for the door.
“Nick, Sav is..isn’t going to die is he?”
“I’m going to do everything I can before I let that happen.”
