The smell of sulfur was heavy as Naida crawled into the small hole in the basement of Bryar Enterprises, the hole that led to Hell. She came out the other side with Jeremy and Spencer already waiting for her, both looking like they had been used to clean out a chimney.
She glanced down at her clothes and saw that she looked the same way. Sighing, she turned as Lucy, Hayley, and Josh came out of the hole, looking as miserable as she felt and the other guys looked.
Taking a deep breath, Naida pulled her magic out of her self and used it to clean the soot off. She brought the blue silk dress back, clinging nicely to the curves of her body, but she had to remove the guarders seeing as royalty had bodyguards for their brute force. She added blue heels the exact same shade as her dress and had the gold and sapphire crown ever present on her head. Her hair hung around her body in flowing locks. The low neckline of the dress brought all the attention to the trident amulet she had there.
She looked at the others and smiled, cleaning the soot off them, but leaving them wearing what they had been wearing before they had descended into the hole. All except Jeremy. For him, she gave a pair of black, faded jeans, nice dress shoes, and a button down shirt, the same shade of blue as her dress, opened over a black tank top. The crown she placed on his head was the same gold and sapphire as her own, but it was perfectly meant for his head.
“Why did you make Jeremy look like a punk rocker slash business man?” Josh was fighting not to laugh at the sight of his friend, but it was so obvious he wanted to.
“He needs to look like my King, but still retain his own style. I went for the common ground. Do you have any complaints, Jeremy?” Naida turned to Jeremy and smiled as he lifted her hand and kissed it gently.
“None, m’lady.”
“Too cute. How about coming up here and say that to my face?” Naida smiled as Jeremy moved in close to her, kissing her hard. She put her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss, and heard Spencer cough. “Yes, Spencer?”
“Aren’t you forgetting why we’re here?”
Naida smiled and turned back to Jeremy. “No, but I thought our little friends over there might like a little show. Wouldn’t do for me to be so close to my king and not touch him, would it?”
Spencer saw the two little demons behind and froze up. “Nay, why would you say what you were doing in front of them? Are you stupid or something?”
Naida smiled and kissed Jeremy again before walking over to the two demons. She gave a few brief hand gestures and the demons nodded, turning and heading the other direction. “They’re dwarget, Spencer. They’re born without the ability to hear and their brains don’t allow them to learn to read lips.”
“Oh.” Spencer seemed dumbfounded that, not only did Naida know the dwarget language, but she knew about them period. “How did you know that?”
“Caspian. He would take me down here and give me tours. He told me a lot about the numerous kinds of demons born down here.” Naida shrugged and held her hand out to Jeremy. “We have to follow them, but more than anything, down here, we have to keep up appearances. If we are squeamish about anything, they’ll see through our real reason for being down here.”
Everyone nodded, but Naida was still unsure. “Let’s just go through this quickly. Why are we here?”
Lucy was the first to pick it up. “You’re here to establish a neutral relationship with Satan, to let him know that you will neither help nor hurt him in any wars in the future. Jeremy is here because he’s your king and always by your side, which was true even before he became your king. Anyway, Spencer, Hayley, and Josh are here as bodyguards because you’ve already had a threat on your life in your short reign. And I am here …” She paused and looked at Naida. “I want to tell him the truth about why I’m here, Naida.”
Naida frowned. “And what’s the truth, Lucy? I thought we agreed that you just wanted to be my lady in waiting in case things we wrong?”
“We did, and that will still work. Everything I just said is the truth except for the reason I’m here. I can still be your lady in waiting, but the truth is, it’s because I’m drawn to you. I don’t why, but your magic calls to me. Not so much your Siren powers, before you jump to them, but your mermaid magic.”
“Water is the main component of ice, Lucy. I understand. Tell him the truth.” Naida sighed and felt Jeremy’s hand slip into hers, giving it a little squeeze. “Come on, now, we have to leave.”
She heard them break up into pairs behind her, Spencer with Hayley and Josh with Lucy. They walked behind her slightly as she walked over the hard, hot gravel toward the large, looming castle before them. It had large spikes coming from everywhere with a large moat of fire under a bridge of heavy stone.
As they crossed the bridge, a large dragon came from the moat, flying around them like they were something good to eat. Naida could feel his age pressing down on them and knew that he was before dragons found the power to turn into a human form, he was one of the Old Ones.
She shuddered and felt Jeremy’s arm go around her shoulders, obviously sensing the same thing she did. She was eased a little as they walked into castle and down the long hall leading into the throne room.
At the door, they were asked to wait as someone announced their presence. “Queen Naida Davis of the mermaids, her king, Jeremy Davis, and her bodyguards are here to see you, your most High.”
“Enter.”
Naida heard the voice and squared her shoulders. She was queen, no longer the weak little girl she was the last time she was here. She could do this and would for the safety of the people she cared about that she left in Bryar Enterprises.
She walked down the deep red carpet and curtsied as she came to the stairs that led up to the throne. “Lucifer, King of all Evil, it has been a long time.”
Satan sat on a high black throne made of the skulls of the demons that he had killed with his bare hands to get to this position. He was just barely five foot seven with tanned skin and spiky black hair. He was in his human form, of course, having given in to hiding his more demonic form unless provoked.
“Yes, Naida, it has. What have you been up to these long years since our last meeting?” His gaze looked her up and down. He wasn’t being subtle about the large bulge in his pants or the thoughts of pleasure flitting across his face.
“I have been married, lost a husband, and then found another after I took the throne as queen.”
“Is that why you have come, Naida? To state your allegiance with me?” His eyes drifted to Jeremy who stood holding Naida’s hand.
“No, Lucifer, I am sorry to tell you that I will not be allying myself with anyone quite yet. I want to get a feel for my people’s strength before I determine with whom to declare allegiance. I was just coming to announce my neutrality to you since you were such a dear friend of my late father.” Naida squeezed Jeremy’s hand unconsciously, but he didn’t move.
“Neutrality? I am the first you have come to announcing this?” Naida nodded. “Then I am honored to have you in my house again, Naida. But now for the questions that plague my mind from your presence. I accept your neutrality, of course, but I must ask why exactly you have brought my exiled daughter back into my castle. Has she not told you that she was forbidden to set foot here again?”
Naida knew that Lucy was going to respond if she didn’t think of something fast, so she spoke quickly. “She has, but I insisted in having her here with me, and she cannot resist me. If it is an inconvenience, I can send her back.”
“Why could she not resist?”
“I am her servant to do as she pleases, Father.” Lucy spoke submissively from behind Naida, looking down at the ground. “She is that which gives me life.”
Naida frowned at Lucy, but didn’t show it as she turned to Lucifer. “There was an incident earlier this week in which she nearly lost her life. I gave it back to her and now she is mine to do as I wish.”
“I am so glad that someone has put a chain on that unruly daughter of mine. But come! I have more questions of you, Naida, now that I know that Lucy is your dog to beat as you please.” Naida fought to flinch, expecting Lucy to say something but willing her not to, she didn’t speak, so Satan continued. “What of your new husband? He doesn’t seem to be a very strongly man.”
“He’s strong, Lucifer. He is a werewolf and has accepted my mermaid as part of himself. He is strength all on his own.”
“Yet you could have had the most powerful man in Hell as your husband. I gave you fire and passion in the bedroom, what has he given you?” Satan gestured to Jeremy like he wasn’t even there.
Naida did flinch at the mention of her time in Satan’s bed, especially seeing the look on Jeremy’s face, but she plowed on, calm as she could ever be. “Trust me on this one, Lucifer, you have nothing on him. He can do things to my body that no man has ever been able to do, just with the tiniest of touches.”
“You slept with Satan?!” Jeremy’s voice was soft, yet awe-filled.
“Did she not tell you, Mr. Davis? Oh, how delightful! Married such a short time and already having a marital spat. I love it!” Satan sat smugly on his throne, watching Jeremy stare open-mouthed at Naida.
“You’re not helping, Lucifer.” Naida turned to Jeremy and sighed. “I was sixteen. My dad owed a debt to Lucifer. I was the payment.”
“You make it sound like it was a horrible experience for you, Naida. You know you enjoyed every minute of it.” Satan’s voice came like fire from the throne.
Naida continued to look at Jeremy, feeling the fear and horror flash across her face before she gained her emotions. She turned back to Satan and frowned. “Enjoy? Enjoy? You raped me every night for a week because of a stupid fifty dollar debt! How could I enjoy myself? I was sixteen!” The fires around Satan started to sizzle and he sat up, watching as one by one the flames around him began to go out.
Naida’s anger rose as the flames disappeared and she felt Lucy’s hand on her shoulder. “Don’t, Naida.”
Spencer’s hand moved onto Naida’s over shoulder and he shook his head. “Deep breaths, Nay. Come on. You can do it.”
“What the fuck is going on in MY palace?” Satan stood and walked briskly down the stairs, large black horns coming slowly out of his forehead. He came to stand in front of the group on the ground and Josh smirked. His attention instantly went to the boy. “What do you find so funny, child?”
“I thought you would be taller.”
“Fuck you.” The voice was deep and rumbling and Naida knew what was coming.
She just barely had time to throw her hand out and send Satan sending around the room as fire shot just over Josh’s head. She stood between the two. “ENOUGH! Why are we fighting? I came here to declare my neutrality and automatically there is a fight.” She turned to Satan. “You know as well as I do that I did not enjoy my time with you, you saw to that.” She turned to Josh. “He’s a lot scarier in his demon form than in his human form for a reason, Josh. Don’t pick fun at him. He could do things to you that not even I could survive.”
Satan stood. “What does that mean, Naida? You have been untouched by tortured. I may have harmed you, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as actually being tortured.”
Naida turned back to Satan and found her mind snap in that moment. She was standing about a foot away from Jeremy and thought seriously about grabbing for him before he got too bad, but thought better of is. She could use this to her advantage. She looked at Jeremy who took a step toward her.
She shook her head and turned back to Satan with a lopsided grin. “Poor, poor devil. Lost the only woman you ever truly loved to a weak, little werewolf.” She moved to Satan and ran her hand along his cheek. “It’s a shame really. You broke my ability to ever have gentle sex again, but so much more has happened since I last saw you.”
She looked down at his pants and raised an eyebrow. “Well now. Is little Lucifer wanting to come out and play? Fuck you.” She shoved him and walked back to the others, stopping and double over laughing maniacally. She turned and pointed and Satan, shaking her head. “Fuck you! I’ve done that already!”
She continued to laugh to the point that she fell onto the ground, holding her side laughing. The laughter stopped almost as quickly as it began and she looked up at him. “Demons … they would be fun to try. I’ve never tried a demon before. Humans taste like candy in my head. Like suckers. Lycanthropes taste like chocolate, rich dark chocolate. But I’ve never had demon. Would you like to be the first, Lucifer? The first for me to taste.”
She crawled across the floor to him, unaware of just how close the dress clung or how low cut it was. She moved up his body, slowly getting to her feet, and moved her lips towards his, but Jeremy’s voice cut through the dementia. “That’s enough, Naida.”
“I just want a little taste.” She moved in toward him and felt arms around her, but they weren’t Jeremy’s. Spencer pulled her away from Satan and she started to kick and scream. “I want to know! Let me taste him.”
“What’s wrong with her?” Satan finally caught his breath enough to speak. “She’s acting like all the victims act after we’ve broken them.”
“She’s been tortured to the point that she is broken. What she means by taste you isn’t wanting to kiss you. She’ll use her Siren abilities on you and pull down to her with a kiss, then fuck you, prolonging release until you beg her to end it. When you beg her, she kills you.” Jeremy looked at Naida as Spencer and Jon fought to restrain her. “You would have never had a chance.”
“I know. Her father forced her to use her abilities on me one time. It was what I wanted in payment for the first debt. Once you’ve tasted her Siren abilities, you can only want more.” Satan looked at Jeremy and frowned. “You have not tasted them, have you?”
“I am immune to her abilities. I have felt them, but they do not effect me. We should bring her back before she realizes she’s more powerful that anyone in this room. No offense or anything, but I believe she could kick your ass.” Jeremy shrugged at Satan.
“None taken. She’s a full Chosen, I am not. She could kill me with her little finger if she wanted to. Has she chosen her path yet?”
“I don’t know.” Jeremy didn’t know whether he should answer that question or not, but he had to help Naida first. He walked over to where she was still struggling with Spencer and Josh, though Hayley and Lucy now had her as well. “Taste me, Naida.”
“No! You have had your turn, and I will not give you another one.”
“Cowardly bitch.” Jeremy’s words shocked everyone, but especially Naida. “You’re just afraid that I’ll be the one seducing you.”
“How dare you! I am better than you!” Naida kicked Spencer and Josh hard, but they kept their grip. “You want a taste, Jeremy, call off the assholes holding me.”
Jeremy nodded to those restraining her and they let go. She walked over to him and moved so that her mouth was just above his. “You will not survive this night, wolf.”
“We shall see about that.”
Naida’s lips touched his and she melted into his arms, coming back to herself and kissing him as deeply as she could, wrapping her arms around his neck and loosing her footing as a wave of pleasure washed over her. She smiled into his face. “Wow.”
Jeremy nodded. “Wow is a good word for it.”
“Interesting. She is insane until she touches you. Have you tried to explore it more?” Satan was no longer being the vicious host, but the friend. Naida knew that he would never hurt her, but she didn’t like it when he acted like this. “But forget I asked. You must rest after that tiring fight with your bodyguards. Rest in one of my guest houses with your friends and then join me for dinner.”
Naida nodded. “That would be great, Lucifer.”
A few small demons came at Lucifer’s call and the small group was led to a small castle that was consider the guest house. They knew that something big was happening at dinner just by the way Lucifer was acting as soon as she accepted his invitation. Naida was just hoping she wasn’t going to have to get insane for that meeting too.
