Chapter Fourteen ~ Brawl
~*~*~*~
As we sat there my bladder gradually started to feel full, so I excused myself to the bathroom. On the way there, I saw the same blonde haired woman walked out of the bathroom. If looks could kill I would’ve spontaneously combusted in the place I stood in this woman’s gaze. So out of spite, I “accidentally” bumped into her. In the past I’ve done this to women who had venomous attitudes toward me, to get my point across that I wasn’t taking their shit. As my shoulder bumped hers, something shiny fell out of her purse, I caught it in before it hit the floor, surprising myself with my quick reflexes. I shoved the object in my purse quickly as my eyes met hers in a fake apology. “Oh my God, please forgive me. I’m so clumsy at times. These shoes don’t help at all…” I said my voice sounding surprisingly convincing. “Oh no that’s quite all right.” The lady mumbled a thick British accent laying on her words as she quickly walked away. I snorted, giving one last glare at the woman as she walked away. I continued my way into the bathroom. I walked into a stall and sat down to urinate. I dug in my purse to see what the object that I had pocketed to find that it was a small cell phone. I then decided to flip through her contacts to find nothing of interest. Mostly business numbers. Out of curiosity I decided to dial one named ‘work’. I was shocked at what I heard in the earpiece. ‘Hello, you have reached the National Enquirer, if you know your party’s extension please dial it now…’ I immediately hung up. I knew I had a funny feeling about that woman. She works for a fucking tabloid. Hm, then I wonder what I’ll find in her pictures… “WHAT THE FUCK!!!!” My head screamed at me as pictures of us sitting together at tonight’s meal showed up then the money shot…Michael and I kissing at the dress shop downtown earlier today. “Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck…” I said aloud to myself. I tried to get up but my legs were simply to weak. Wait… I thought again. Maybe she didn’t send them…I flipped through her phone history seeing that she had already sent them to people already. Most likely confidants at work. Oh fuck, I’m screwed…We’re SCREWED! “I’ll fucking kill her…I’ll fucking kill her, I swear to it…” I swore to myself, my brain already finding ways to kill the bitch and dispose of her body. I finally found my strength and I got up and flushed the toilet. Just as the door to the woman’s restroom opened. Having a bad feeling. I climbed on top of the toilet hoping that it wasn’t who I thought it was…I was wrong. She quickly looking underneath all the stalls, still not seeing me. I inhaled deeply and held my breath as my heart started to race with adrenaline. I didn’t want to fight, I wasn’t a violent person by nature, I just threatened bodily harm…a lot. Nadine, now would be a good time to intervene…please…someone…I really don’t want to kill this woman in cold blood if I don’t have to…My mind pleaded. “Okay you little wench, come out and give me back my phone.” I cringed at the sound of her voice. My knuckles clenched up so tightly my knuckles were white. Why the fuck are you scared Crystal…this woman is evil, she followed you around, she’s going to expose you and Michael to the world… That did it. I got down from the toilet and opened the stall door. The woman walked over to where I was and stood in front of me. I really hated being cornered. The bitch stuck out her hand. “My phone, now.” She demanded, her voice cold and rude. “You mean this phone?” I asked, a brilliant plan coming to mind. I took out the phone and held it up. She was going to get what she deserved. “Yes. Now give it here.” She said, taking a step forward. I took a step back, the toilet was against my calves. “You get it.” I said throwing the phone over my shoulder and hearing the splash that it made in the toilet water. I reached behind me quickly and flushed it before the woman pushed me out of the stall. She stuck her arm elbow deep into the toilet, but the phone was long gone by now. A malicious smile curved my lips as the woman realized that she wasn’t going to get her phone back she turned back to me. Her eyes gave me a murderous glare. “You really don’t know who you are fucking with do you? I’m a black belt…” “Like I give a fuck? I don’t care if your Chuck fucking Norris, you have no right following me and Michael around…anyways, you already sent your pictures to your confidants at National Enquirer…” I said trying to provoke her to hit me. “They can’t publish them without proof…” She said solemnly. “You flushed the only proof I have down the fucking toilet!” “Well I guess I did myself a favor then now didn’t I?” I said taking a step toward her. She stepped back. Just the response I wanted. I kept stepping towards and she kept stepping back. She was scared. I could feel her fear. It fed my anger. “Stay away…I’ll hurt you!” The woman said as a final attempt to get out of her situation. Her back hit the wall and she looked petrified. I hit the wall beside her with all the force I could muster in my right hand. She looked away and cringed like I had hit her. “Stay away from Michael and me…if I see you around again I’ll make sure you never publish another wretched story…understand?” I threatened. “Y…You’re t..th..threatening me. I…I can turn you in.” She stuttered. I smiled at her feeble attempt at another threat. “Your word against mine, it’ll never hold up.” I simply said, as I moved away from her. I straightened my dress. She slunk to the floor defeated. I then turned around and walked out of the restroom. I walked back to our booth to find that the salads and beverages came. I sat back down and motioned Michael to come closer. “Michael we have a problem…” I whispered. “What could it possibly be…” “There is a tabloid agent here, she’s been following us around pretty much all day today…” “Really? I didn’t even notice…wait a second how did you-” “I’ll tell you later…here she comes.” The blonde hair lady stormed out of bathroom and marched over to her table. Not even looking at us once. I eyed her every move. She whispered something to the gentlemen sitting across from her and he was stricken with panic. He glanced over at our table and I waved innocently. The man looked up at the woman and shook his head. Then they sat down to enjoy the rest of their meal, occasionally looking at our table. I could tell the man was restless, and worried. Michael noticed this, and shot me a serious glance. “Tell me what you did? That woman is scared shitless…” Michael said as he began to dig into his salad. I began to do so myself. Taking a sip of white wine that Michael had poured for me. “Okay, okay, I bumped into her by accident and caught her cell phone which flew out of her purse. I didn’t give it back. Instead, I looked through her numbers and pictures…” I said shoving a mouthful of salad into my mouth. “Okay…so then what?” “Well…” I said swallowing the mouthful of salad. “…there were pictures of you and I in there, one in which we were passionately kissing.” Michael paused as the color drained from his face. “Were there any in there of me and Nadine?” Michael said, his eyes filling with fear. “There was one. To me it wasn’t very serious, but the tabloids spin their stories so ruthlessly so who knows what they’ll come up with…” “You mean she’s already sent them out?” “Yes she has, but they need hard evidence and since I got rid of her hard evidence, they can’t publish the pictures.” Michael wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me against his side. “They could still publish the pictures, nothing is ever set in stone, especially with tabloids…” Michael said his eyes meeting mine. “I know. That’s what she said though.” “Well I still love you.” Michael said, as his lips met mine in a passionate kiss. “You guys! I’m trying to eat here. Do you mind?” Nadine said, sounding disgusted. Michael and I laughed as we went back to eating our salads. The remainder of the meal went well. The food was magnificent. The waitress had just brought our desserts the conversation started up again. “So what happened in the bathroom Crys? I didn’t get the whole story…” Nadine inquired. A small smirk came across my face as I began to dig into my Triple Chocolate Tiramisu. “Well I went through all of her phone numbers like I said before, and that’s how I found out she was with the National Enquirer…” “The National Enquirer? I hate them. They always spin the most vicious of rumors.” Michael said, putting in his two cents. “Anyways, I went through all of her pictures, and there were several in there of just Michael and I, and one of you and him.” I said looking at Nadine, taking another bite of my Tiramisu. “So there was a picture of me and Michael…big deal…” Nadine said, not really understanding the impact of my last statement. “You didn’t get it but that’s okay…the picture I was really worried about was Michael and I passionately kissing.” I said, looking at Nadine again. “So…what happened after that? Did she come back after her phone?” Nadine asked as he took at bite of her Lava cake. Chocolate got on the side of her lips and I motioned her to wipe it off. “Mm…sorry,” She apologized. Meanwhile Michael was listening intently, eating his French Silk Pie. “Well,” I continued. “She came back in the bathroom and demanded that I give her her phone back.” I said, taking another bite of my decadent dessert. “So I simply told her to get it herself and threw it in the toilet and flushed it down…” Nadine inhaled quickly to laugh to started to lightly choke on her cake. She coughed and laughed at the same time. “Are you serious!?!? What did she do after that?” “Well she dug in the toilet to grab her phone but it was gone. She turned to me and threatened to whip out her karate black belt routine, I knew she was already scared so I backed her up against the wall and almost hit her. She of course cringed, and said that she was going to turn me in. I told her that it was her word against mine then I left her there.” It was Michael turn to nearly choke. “Are you trying to get yourself arrested Crystal? That’s the second fight you’ve gotten yourself into. Perhaps I should start fighting your battles for you…” I shook my head at Michael’s suggestion. “I am a big girl Michael, I don’t need anyone fighting my battles for me.” I said looking at him as I took the last bite of my Tiramisu. “God you are crazy.” Nadine said shaking her head at me as she continued to eat her lava cake. I rolled my eyes. Sure the first fight I got into that was interesting to them, it wasn’t even a real fight and I’m getting put down. My eyes started to well up with tears, I turned away as they began to pour over my cheeks. I was fighting every urge to get up and run out the restaurant. Michael noticed my silence and went to pull me to him, but I pushed him away. “Don’t touch me please…” I pleaded, my voice cracking giving myself away. “Crystal look at me. Please?” Michael asked, as the waitress put the bill on the table. Michael took out his debit card and gave it to Nadine. “Nadine will go and pay for this? Crystal and I need a moment alone.” Michael asked, his eyes pleading with her. Nadine quickly swallowed her bite. “Sure.” Nadine said taking the card and the bill and leaving the table. “Crystal…please look at me…” Michael pleaded with me, his voice tender. I looked at him and his hand came up and wiped away my mascara stained tears. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. You probably already feel horrible enough as it is…” “I’m not a violent person by nature Michael, its just lately I’m been through so much and having this relationship exploited for the whole world to see…that was the last straw…” “I understand, you’re braver than most women I know. You took Jason being unfaithful with stride. Most women would’ve been flipping off the deep end…but then again, you’re not most women…” Michael said as he cautiously wrapped his around me and pulled me into a hug. “Please know that I love you Crystal, no matter what happens.” Michael said interlocking my hand with his and laying a light kiss on it. I smiled at him. Nadine came back with Michael’s debit card. She handed it to Michael. “Thank you for the meal Michael…I’ve never done this before…” Nadine said, thanking Michael for his generosity. “Yes thank you,” I said, placing a chaste kiss upon Michael’s lips. Michael was the first to get up and he helped me out of the booth, then offered to help Nadine out as well but she turned down the help. We all walked out of the restaurant and piled into the limo. “So what now?” Nadine asked as the chauffeur closed the door of the limo. “Um…well, did you want to go back to your aunts?” I asked looking at Nadine. She checked her watch. “I probably should, its almost ten and my aunts probably having a heart attack because I’m not back yet.” Nadine said, looking at me. Michael nodded and told the limo driver to go to Nadine’s aunts house. We arrived at Nadine’s aunts about ten minutes after leaving the restaurant. Nadine stepped out of the limo, I did as well. We gave each other a hug and a kiss on the cheek and bid our farewells. “Are you going to come over tomorrow and grab your stuff?” “Of course, I’m not about to leave all my belongings here.” “What time is your flight again?” Nadine asked. “I think its around 3:30 in the afternoon tomorrow but I’ll have to double check. I’ll give you call, when I get a look at my flight itinerary.” I said my eyes meeting Nadine’s. She nodded. “Good night Nadine.” “Good night. Don’t have too much fun.” “Oh I won’t.” I said as I got back in the limo. I climbed in beside Michael
