Celebs featured: Kacy Hill, Tori Kelly, Ariana Grande, Jasmine Tookes, Rachel Cook
The event was considerably short since it only consisted of two videos totalling seven-and-a-half minutes in length (not counting the time between the end of Kacy’s video and the start of Tori’s video) and a Q&A afterwards, but it went off without a hitch. Tori and Kacy stood in front of the projector screen, giving an endless supply of thanks for the warm reception before inviting the audience to ask questions.
Kacy’s video was for a song called “Dinner.” When asked why, she said the producer called the demo “Dinner” and she decided not to change it. Tori’s video for a song called “Never Alone” was a live performance shot in black and white. When asked why the video was in black and white, Tori shrugged and said “No reason.” Kacy joked that it was because Tori’s outfit didn’t match, which Tori found hilarious. Then Tori took a question from Ariana Grande, who was sitting in the front row.
“That line at the start of the chorus - ‘I’ve cried many rivers, I’ve walked through some pain’ - is it just me or did the way you sing that sound like the chorus of First Heartbreak?”
Tori wasn’t sure how to answer that question, but Kacy chimed in before Tori could say anything.
“You know, I also thought it sounded like First Heartbreak. But the choruses in both songs are about wanting relief from her anxiety, so I thought maybe it was intentional, like a callback or something.”
Tori stood somewhat nervously and said, “Yeah . . . yeah, that was intentional. I’m glad you guys noticed. So, uh, any other questions?”
Jasmine Tookes, another Victoria’s Secret Angel, asked, “I loved your outfits. Where did you get them?”
Jasmine was sitting at one of two tables where the tallest women in the resort were sitting to avoid blocking anyone’s view. Jasmine is one of three women who stands at 5’9” and her fellow Angels Josephine and Candice are two of the four women who stand at 5’10”. Captain once read that the world’s tallest man was described as being “as kind as he was tall,” which is a lot of kindness because the guy was 8’11”. Captain would often say the same of the resort’s tallest women, and Jasmine was no exception.
Kacy whispered something to Tori. Tori smirked, nodded, and told Jasmine, “We won’t say it now cuz it’s top secret, but we’ll tell you if you ask us in private.”
After a few more questions, after the women had left and the folding chairs had been put away, Tori and Kacy asked Captain what he thought of the event.
“Well,” he said, “it goes without saying that I think you two did a spectacular job. But for future reference, please don’t just tell Madalina if you want to hold an event outside.”
“She said she would tell you,” Kacy assured him.
“She did tell me, but I’d rather hear it from you personally. Okay?”
The two women nodded, thanked him, and headed back to their rooms for the night. Shortly on his way back to his room, Rachel approached him and asked if he was busy the next day.
“What are you planning?” he inquired.
“I thought maybe you’d want to join me for a little ‘workout’.”
“Is this the kind of ‘workout’ I think you mean?”
“Well, I’m not a mind reader, but it may very well be.”
“What time do you want me to come over?”
“How does 8 am sound?”
“Let’s make it 8:30.”
“Yes, sir. See you at 8:30.”
Like I said, the women frequently make the first move in the resort. Rachel smiled at Captain and they both went off to their separate rooms, both tired from a long day.
