"I'm in love
With a girl."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So what do you have today?" Kelly asked as Carrie poured herself a cup of coffee while Ashley made pancakes. Carrie had driven them to her place when Ashley called saying she was making breakfast.
"I have a meeting with my stylists this morning to finalize the outfits I'm going to wear for the concert tomorrow."
"Outfits?"
"Yea," Carrie nodded, sitting next to her. She pulled her chair a little closer, kissing her cheek.
Kelly giggled, turning to kiss her on the lips, "So exactly how many outfits are we talking about here?"
"I don't know, probably three or four."
"Three or four?" Kelly's eyebrows rose.
"Yea, well you figure you have one or two costume changes during the set--not too much because it isn't a full concert set--and then a different outfit for the finale, right?"
"Right..." Kelly laughed softly. "And when you say finalize, you mean?"
"Finalize," Carrie shrugged. "We've been narrowing down what I was going to wear for a month or two."
Ashley laughed, shaking her head as she placed a plate of pancakes in front of them before going back to the stove to make some more.
"What about you?" Carrie asked.
"What about me?" Kelly asked.
"Do you know what you're wearing?"
"Jeans," Kelly replied simply.
"That's it?"
"Well, I'm gonna have a shirt too."
Carrie frowned slightly.
"What's wrong?" Kelly placed her hand on her knee.
"Do you think I'm overdoing it?"
"Of course not, you're a total fashionista. Your fans are expecting you to have costume changes and look amazing. My fans have learned to settle," she grinned.
Carrie giggled as Kelly leaned to her, kissing her again.
"And I know that you're are going to look beautiful, so I can't wait to see all the outfits you pick out."
"Thanks," Carrie placed her hand over Kelly's. "What about you? What are your plans for today?"
"Ash and I are gonna take Kate shopping and get her something new for the concert. She's a little more into the fashion side of things than me, so I figured it would be a nice treat for her, and I'll probably let Ashley talk me into getting a new top to wear."
"Sounds fun. I wish I could go with y'all."
"Well, we're not gonna go until a little later, so why don't you call when you get out of your fitting thing and we'll let you know where we're at."
"Ok," Carrie nodded with a smile.
"Yea, it'd be nice to have more input than, 'it looks fine to me'," Ashley teased as she placed another plate of pancakes on the table before sitting down with them.
"I say more than that," Kelly argued.
"'Is it time to eat yet?' doesn't count."
Kelly laughed, tossing a piece of pancake at her, "Shut up."
"I actually need to find a pair of heels for a dress I'm planning on wearing," Carrie noted. "Think I can look when I come meet y'all?"
"Yea, of course. There's no big plan for today. Just taking it easy."
"You're wearing heels?" Ashley pouted slightly.
Kelly rolled her eyes.
"Yea, I always do," Carrie nodded.
"Not fair. Kelly, come on, let me dress you up just once."
"I let you dress me up all the time for red carpets."
"Yea, but you always go into it kicking and screaming."
"Well, you can help Carrie pick out her shoes today, how's that?"
Ashley turned to Carrie hopefully.
"Yea, definitely. The more opinions the better," Carrie nodded.
"Who knew the cowgirl was actually cool?" Ashley hit Kelly's arm playfully as she stood to get the juice out of the fridge.
Carrie laughed, shaking her head, "Well, I actually need to head back to my house to take a shower and get ready for the fitting."
"Already?" Kelly pouted softly as she stood.
Carrie leaned down, kissing her sweetly.
"Wait," Kelly pulled back. "You have to get ready to go to a fitting?"
"Yea?"
"Why don't you just go in like sweats or something? It makes it easier to change into and out of."
"I'm a fashionista, remember?" Carrie winked playfully.
"That's too much work," Kelly shook her head again.
"It's fun."
"You're so weird," Kelly teased, pulling her back down. "But that's ok because I happen to really like weird."
"Oh yea?" Carrie smiled.
Kelly nodded, kissing her, "In fact, I may even love weird."
"Well, that's good because I may even love dork," Carrie replied before pressing their lips together firmly.
"Mm..." Kelly reached up, cradling her cheek. "Have fun at the fitting."
"I will," Carrie kissed her once more, softer this time. "Thanks for breakfast, Ash."
Ashley gave her a wave as Carrie picked up a pancake to take with her before she grabbed her keys and headed for the door. Her eyes slowly moved back to Kelly.
"What?" Kelly asked curiously with a mouth full of pancakes.
"Something's different," Ashley pointed out.
"What is?"
"I don't know...something's just different with you two."
"Bad different?"
"No, good different, like...more."
"More?"
"Yea," Ashley nodded. "More...y'all are just like more...I don't know, when y'all are together y'all are just like...are you pregnant?"
Kelly choked on her juice, "What?"
"Well, y'all are kinda glowing, so..."
"How would I be pregnant, Ash?"
"There is more than one way to get pregnant now."
"I know, but...Ash, come on. Why would I be pregnant? We haven't even been together that long, not too mention the entire world would need an explanation of why I was suddenly even rounder than usual, plus, my mom would flip if I got pregnant before I was--"
"Married," Ashley's eyes widened. "Y'all got married last night!"
"What? No," Kelly laughed. "Once again, we're still getting used to this dating thing, and plus, where the heck would we--two girls--get married on such short notice around here?"
"Engaged?"
"No," Kelly shook her head.
Ashley frowned, "Then what is it?"
"What is what?"
"What's different?"
"Nothing's different, Ash, you're just being crazy like always."
"Well, what did y'all do last night, then?"
"We had sex at her place."
"That's it?"
"Well, I wouldn't say it like that, it was pretty amazing," Kelly laughed softly.
"You don't feel like anything's different?"
"No, well...a little, I guess. I mean, we talked a little last night, and it was just...it was nice, you know? We kinda both just said point blank that we are totally in love with each other, and that this is it for us, you know? Like she's the one, and thankfully I'm her one as well. And like I said, we haven't been dating for long, but...this is it."
Ashley smiled, "Yea?"
"Yea, and it's just...it's great to finally have that put out there cause like when this thing first started there were so many questions, you know? And now, there's none...I don't know how to explain it..."
"No, I get it," Ashley nodded. "And it sounds pretty damn amazing."
"It is," Kelly nodded, smiling as she started to tear up.
"Aw..." Ashley reached to her, wiping the tears off her cheeks.
"Yea," Kelly sniffed, giggling softly. "So no babies or weddings or engagements...just a promise."
"A kick ass promise."
"A very kick ass promise."
"Have y'all talked about any of that, though?"
"Nah, it's way too soon. Plus, when we do get to that point, who's to say we're going to want to? Things are just so great like they are, you know? Why mess with that? And also there are so many different options other than marriage now."
"What about your mom and the no kids before marriage thing?"
"Well, I'd have to tell her that Carrie and I are dating first, and I mean...I love her to death, but this is Carrie and I's life, not hers. And I think it's more the fact that she just wants me to be settled in a secure and stable relationship first, and in her mind that means marriage, but like I said, there are other ways."
"So you do think y'all will have kids?"
"Many, many years from now...yes. I would love to have our own family. But like I said, it is way, way too soon to be even thinking about any of that. Last night...us just giving ourselves to each other completely...that's more than enough for me. That's all I could ever ask for, you know?"
Ashley nodded, squeezing her shoulder.
"Thinking about where you can find you one like her?" Kelly asked teasingly.
"Ugh..." Ashley rolled her eyes. "It's not fair having to watch the two of you. I was perfectly fine being single until she came along, and now y'all just make it look so great...I so need a man."
Kelly chuckled.
"But don't you dare tell her I said that," Ashley warned, pointing her fork at her.
"Deal," Kelly laughed, holding up a hand in surrender.
"So...four different costumes, huh?"
"You know you would love me if I did that."
"Yea, but I know you never would, hence my amusement."
"I think it's cute," Kelly shrugged. "And she really loves that part of it all, so...and I mean, she's not that bad, like, she totally knows how to relax and rock the casual wear."
"She does," Ashley agreed.
"And plus, those short dresses she wears with heels...yea, I'm so not complaining. I mean, have you seen the girl's legs? Damn..."
Ashley laughed, shaking her head as she put another pancake on each of their plates, "Eat before Jason gets a whiff of these and scarfs them all down."
"Who I am now is who I wanted to be,
And now that we're together,
I'm stronger than ever,
I'm happy and free."
"Ash, I don't wanna try on another top," Kelly pouted from inside the dressing room as Ashley tossed another shirt over the door to her. "I already found one I like--I'm done."
"Try it on," Ashley replied firmly.
"No."
"Kelly, come on, it's really cute."
"I'm done shopping. It's Kate's turn."
"I bet Carrie would love that shirt," Kate noted as she stood beside Ashley.
"Aw, no fair," Kelly replied. "You can't both gang up on me. Kate, I thought you were on my side."
"Just try on the damn shirt," Ashley commanded.
"Alright, sheesh, no need to be rude about it," Kelly took off the shirt she was wearing, tossing it at them over the door. She heard their giggles and rolled her eyes--she'd never understand their love of clothes. She tugged on the new shirt, turning around quickly at the sound of her dressing room door opening.
"You know, Kate was right...I really do love you in that shirt," the country singer grinned as she closed the door.
Kelly bit her bottom lip to keep from grinning too widely.
"Happy to see me?" Carrie raised an eyebrow.
Kelly nodded, pulling her closer by her shirt, "They've had me trying on stuff all morning."
"Poor baby..." Carrie stroked her cheek softly.
Kelly pouted again, enjoying the attention.
"Want me to make them back off and focus on Kate instead?" Carrie asked as she tucked a soft curl behind the Texan's ear.
"It was supposed to be her day, not mine," Kelly's pout deepened.
"Ok, I'll go tell them to behave," Carrie nodded, turning to walk back out the dressing room.
Kelly pulled her back to her.
"Yes?" Carrie smiled.
"I think you forgot something."
"Oh yea? And what's that?"
Kelly puckered her lips cutely.
Carrie laughed, leaning forward and kissing her softly.
"So how was your morning?" Kelly asked against her lips, pulling her closer.
"Good," Carrie nodded, kissing her again, a little more firmly this time.
"I'm really happy you came," Kelly noted as their noses brushed together.
"Yea?"
Kelly nodded, her hand running through Carrie's hair, "And not just because you're saving me from the shopaholics."
"No?"
"No," Kelly giggled as Carrie stole a quick kiss.
"I was worried I was stepping in on y'alls friend time," she admitted.
"Friend time is important," Kelly agreed. "But they love having you hang out with us...and so do I."
Carrie smiled, and Kelly pressed their lips together in a warm kiss. "Mm..." she pulled back, still smiling.
Kelly laughed softly, her fingers running over Carrie's lips, "We should go before Ashley starts fussing at you for holding us up."
"She so loves me," Carrie shook her head, turning back to the door.
Kelly tugged on her shirt once more, pulling her back around, "I love you."
"I love you too," Carrie beamed, kissing her.
"What color's the dress?" Ashley asked as she and Carrie gazed over the wall of high heels.
"Yellow," Carrie replied. "What about red?" she asked, holding up a pair of red heels.
"Eh...it's a bit over done, and I personally, don't see how yellow and red got paired off to begin with."
"I blame McDonald's," Kelly smiled from where she and Kate sat behind them on a pair of chairs.
"No comments from the peanut gallery, thank you," Ashley glared at them from over her shoulder.
"How did I get grouped in the peanut gallery?" Kate questioned.
"Because you're just as bad as Kelly when it comes to shoes," Ashley replied, turning back to the display wall. "Despite what you two think, chucks do not go with everything."
"I thought it was a good idea," she shrugged.
"Thank you," Kelly smiled. "It would totally bring out her inner rocker."
Carrie smiled as she turned to look at her, "I think you've forgotten that you're the rocker, not me."
"You're totally a rocker...rocker of my world that is," Kelly winked.
Carrie giggled.
Ashley gagged, "Oh man, shoot me now."
"What about pink?" Kate asked, eyeing a pair of sparkly pink heels.
"Just like not everything goes with chucks, Kate, not everything goes with pink," Ashley rolled her eyes.
"No, that's actually not a bad idea," Carrie replied. She reached up for the pair of heels, finding them just out of her reach.
"I'll get them for you," Kelly stood up quickly.
"Now this I gotta see," Ashley took a step back to watch.
Kelly studied the shelves carefully before reaching up for one as she stepped up onto the lowest, starting to climb up.
"Ok, I've seen enough," Ashley pulled her from the shelves.
"I got it," Kate got up, laughing as Kelly frowned.
"It's ok," Carrie soothed, running a hand down her arm. "I know you could've gotten them for me."
"Damn right," Kelly nodded proudly.
Carrie smiled, looking around carefully before reaching over and kissing her temple.
Kelly beamed as Kate handed Carrie a box of the heels in her size.
"Alright," Carrie kicked off her sandals before slipping the heels on. "What do y'all think?"
"Love them," Kate nodded in satisfaction.
"Yea...Pinky was actually right for once," Ashley agreed, earning a playful push from Kate.
"Kell?" Carrie turned to her.
Kelly narrowed her eyes as she studied Carrie carefully.
"Kell?"
"Give her a minute," Ashley suggested. "She's totally imagining you in wearing them with a short yellow dress right now...let her enjoy it."
Carrie giggled, reaching out to give Kelly's hand a squeeze, "Kell."
"Yea?" Kelly's eyes snapped back up to hers.
"What do you think?"
"Hot," she gave a short nod.
Carrie smiled, "Then, I'll take them."
"So, is it time to eat now?" Kate questioned, picking up her bags of clothing as Carrie slid her sandals back on.
"Totally," Kelly gave her a high five before she took the shoe box from Carrie and skipped off to the check out counter with Kate.
"It's funny how alike they are," Carrie giggled as she watched the pair of them.
"Yea, people confuse them for sister's all the time," Ashley nodded. "Um...you do realize that Kelly's paying for your shoes right?"
"Huh?" Carrie watched as Kelly pulled her wallet out of purse, handing the worker her credit card. "Aw darn it... Kelly Brianne, don't you dare!" she called after her as she hurried to the check out counter.
Ashley chuckled, shaking her head as she followed after the country singer, "Kids these days..."
