"Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl,
Hold me down, sweet and low,
And I'll carry you home."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carrie smiled as Kelly hopped onto the bed, "Come here, you."
Kelly grinned, quickly slipping under the covers to join her, "Hi."
"Hi," Carrie wrapped an arm around her, drawing her closer.
"Hi," Kelly repeated, kissing her softly. She kissed her again, her own arm finding it's way around Carrie's back, holding her tightly. She tilted her head, deepening the kiss, feeling Carrie moan softly into her mouth as she pressed their bodies together. She started to lay Carrie back so that she could slide on top of her, but stopped when she felt Carrie gradually slowing the kiss down until she pulled away altogether. "Long day?" Kelly asked after Carrie leant in for one more gentle kiss before pulling back with a tired look in her eyes.
Carrie gave an apologetic smile.
"Yea, can't say I blame you," Kelly nodded. "I was ready to call it quits at like four in the afternoon."
"You just weren't built for shopping," Carrie shook her head.
"Nope. I think God must've passed over me when he was handing out the shopping bug."
Carrie giggled, pulling her closer.
Kelly wrapped a leg around the country singer's, brushing their noses together.
Carrie sighed in content.
"You had fun today though right?" Kelly asked as she softly kissed one of Carrie's closed eyelids.
"Today was great," Carrie assured with a smile as she opened her eyes. "I got to try on some amazing things this morning, and then I got to spend the rest of the day with you guys...it was perfect."
"Good," Kelly nodded as Carrie kissed both of her eyelids in return. "I can't wait for tomorrow. It seems like it's been forever since I've performed."
"You had those tv shows like last week."
"You and I both know that is nowhere near the same as being out in front of a real crowd."
"Yea," Carrie agreed. "On tv they don't give you enough room to hop around all crazy like you have to go to the bathroom or something."
Kelly grinned, "Which isn't fair, because you totally have enough room to bop from side to side like you're riding an invisible horse.
Carrie narrowed her eyes playfully.
Kelly scrunched her nose, growling in response.
Carrie laughed loudly as Kelly rolled them over so that they ended up on opposite sides of where they started, "You're crazy."
"Crazy cool," Kelly wiggled her eyebrows.
"Crazy dork."
"But I'm your dork," Kelly nodded proudly.
"Yes, you are my dork," Carrie kissed her.
"What?" Kelly asked at the look in her eyes as she pulled back.
Carrie shook her head, her fingertips stroking across the Texan's jaw, "I love you."
"I love you too," Kelly smiled.
"You're just so..." Carrie held her close.
"Dead sexy?" Kelly offered in her best Scottish accent.
Carrie giggled, "Kelly Clarkson is definitely dead sexy. Fat bastard...maybe not so much."
"What about me?" Kelly asked, her eyes soft as she looked into Carrie's. "What about just plain old Kelly?"
Carrie smiled at the Texan's recognized difference she held between herself and her name. That was something it had taken a while for her to learn herself--it was absolutely necessary to realize that the comments people made, whether good or bad, were not actually about her, but about some idea that they had of her in their head because the truth was, they actually didn't have the slightest clue who she really was, and the only way for someone in the industry that they were in to remain sane was for them to really understand that concept. "You, my dear," her thumb stroked Kelly's chin, just under her bottom lip. "You are the sexiest of all."
Kelly melted, hugging her tightly as Carrie kissed her forehead.
"And by the way..." she rested her cheek where she had just kissed. "I was going to say that you were amazing."
"Right back at ya," Kelly nodded.
Carrie laughed softly, "You are definitely my dork."
"And what if someone tries to take me away from you?"
"Who in the world would want to take you?" Carrie looked at her with a smirk.
Kelly hit her playfully.
"I'm just joking," Carrie grinned, pulling her back to her, smiling at the feeling of her snuggling close. "If anybody tries to take you away from me, I'm gonna just have to kick their butt."
Kelly giggled.
"What?"
"Nothing, it's just that the image of you trying to kick someone's butt is rather amusing."
"It is, is it?" Carrie poked her side, making her giggle even more.
"No, no, I lie, it is completely terrifying," Kelly assured, squirming in her arms to keep from getting tickled.
"That's what I thought," Carrie nodded with a yawn, kissing the top of her head as Kelly slid further down so she could snuggle into her neck.
"Hey Care?"
"Yea?"
"Pick a number between one and five."
"Thirteen," Carrie smiled. "Now, let's settle down and get some sleep, ok? We have another long day tomorrow."
Kelly nodded in agreement, "Hey Care, one more thing?"
"Yea?"
"I love you."
Carrie's heart swelled, "I love you too."
Kelly laughed to herself as she watched Ashley hurry about, rushing back and forth, in and out of the kitchen as she tried to get everything together for the show that afternoon.
"You laughing isn't helping," Ashley called over her shoulder as she ran out of the kitchen towards the living room.
"Who said I was laughing? I wasn't laughing," Kelly replied.
"Well then," Ashley ducked back into the kitchen. "Mind telling me why your shoulders can't keep from bouncing up and down?"
Kelly frowned.
"Now quit playing around and eat your breakfast," she instructed, hurrying back out. "We're running late as always."
Kelly took a bite of her cereal, grinning as Carrie walked into the kitchen, "Hey."
"Hey," Carrie smiled, allowing the short Texan to pull her onto her lap. "Is it always this crazy around here on days like today?"
"Pretty much," Kelly nodded. "We're never ready...it's how we work best."
"I could never do that," Carrie shook her head.
"You're already ready to go?"
"Yea," she shrugged. "All my stuff is already over there. I had Laura and Anne bring it all yesterday."
"Well, look at you being all crazy organized," Kelly smiled mischievously. "Now all you need is one of those little school girl uniforms and we'll be good to go."
Carrie grinned as she leaned to her, kissing her fully. "You know..." she pulled back an inch. "I may just have one of those from this play I was in in high school."
Kelly groaned, pulling Carrie back to her for another heated kiss.
"Ugh!" Ashley cried exasperatedly as she walked back through the kitchen. "How many times do I have to tell y'all? If we're running late, you don't have time to be making out. Carrie, get your tongue out of her throat so the two of you can eat some breakfast."
"You want me to eat?" Carrie pulled away from Kelly to be able to look at the makeup artist. "Alright, but you may want to stay out of the kitchen for a while, because I doubt you want to see what I'm hungry for..."
"Oh God," Ashley shook her head. "Why the hell do I even bother?"
Kelly giggled, biting Carrie's shoulder playfully as Ashley walked back out the kitchen, "You're so wrong for that."
"You loved it," Carrie turned back to her with a spark in her eyes.
"Well, duh," Kelly reached up, pressing their lips together. "But we really do need to eat."
Carrie nodded, standing as Kelly patted her hip.
"There's a little fruit and yogurt mixture in there for you," Kelly explained as Carrie walked to the fridge to see what they had.
"Cool," Carrie pulled out the bowl. "Remind me to tell Ashley thanks."
Kelly scoffed.
"You made this for me?" Carrie raised an eyebrow as she sat back on her lap.
"Is that so hard to believe?"
"No, actually not really, it's just that y'all are all really busy this morning getting everything ready."
"I know," she shrugged. "But Ashley's been running around like a chicken with her head cut off, so breakfast from her would be a no-go, and I thought that sense today was a pretty big day for both of us, it'd be nice for you to start your day off with a little treat."
"Well, aren't you just the best girlfriend ever," Carrie kissed her cheek before taking a bite of fruit.
Kelly beamed, "How is it?"
"Perfect, Kell, seriously, thank you," Carrie smiled, kissing her on the lips.
"Mm..." Kelly's eyes flashed excitedly. "Strawberries..."
Carrie bit her bottom lip, wiping the spot of yogurt off the other singer's lips.
"Kelly, can you please hold that thought until we are at least over there and sure we haven't forgotten anything?" Ashley requested as she passed back through the kitchen.
"I'll try, boss, but it's gonna be hard," Kelly replied, holding Carrie's gaze.
"The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much."
"So that was Tim," Jason explained as he hung up his cell phone. "He wanted to warn us that it's very muddy backstage so be careful where we park."
"It barely rained at the house last night," Kelly argued.
"Yea, well, it must've poured here," Ashley replied, looking out the window as Jason turned into the park. "It's practically a mud pit."
"Fun," Carrie winked at Kelly, making her giggle.
"I wonder if it's this bad in front of the stage."
"No, Tim said the reason it's so bad back here is because of the stage. They set it up yesterday, so when it poured last night, it messed up the water's natural draining pattern."
"See, Care? I told you it would mess up the water's draining pattern. If only we had had it on the other side of the park like I said..." Kelly grinned.
"Shut up," Carrie hit her arm playfully.
Kelly grabbed her hand, linking it with her own.
"Here we go," Jason looked around as he parked. "I think we'll be good here."
"Yea, we just have to wade through a couple inches of mud to get to the dressing rooms," Ashley noted sarcastically as she opened her door.
"Well, it's either that, or park where the car is gonna get stuck."
"Here's fine," Kelly assured as she opened her own door. She frowned, before looking back at Carrie thoughtfully.
"What?" Carrie questioned.
"Nothing, I got it," she bent down, rolling up the legs of her jogging pants. "Come this way," she instructed as she slid out the vehicle.
Carrie slid across the seat, her heart melting when she realized what Kelly was doing as the Texan waited for her, facing away from her, "Kell..."
"Come on."
"Kell, you don't have to do this," Carrie insisted.
"Care," Kelly looked over her shoulder at her. "Let me?"
Carrie smiled, nodding. She wrapped her arms around Kelly's neck, feeling her reach back, drawing her legs around her hips.
"Got it?" Kelly asked.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Carrie asked with a soft laugh as she rested her chin on Kelly's shoulder.
"Please, what do you weigh? Like two pounds?"
Carrie dug her thigh into Kelly's side.
"Ow, sorry."
"It's ok," Carrie looked around before kissing her on the cheek as Kelly carried her on her back through the mud. "This is incredibly sweet of you, by the way."
"Anything for my baby," Kelly shrugged.
"And that is so getting you laid," Carrie whispered in her ear.
Kelly bit her bottom lip hard as she followed Jason and Ashley towards the dressing rooms, "Girl...if you only knew what you do to me..."
Carrie giggled, squeezing her arms around her in a sort of hug as a round of flashes went off to their left. "Seriously?"
"Let's just smile and give them their shot, and they'll go away."
"I'd love to know what planet you live on," Carrie laughed, but did as she said and smiled and waved for the cameras. "Hm," she raised an eyebrow as the flashes lessened. "Where'd you learn that?"
"It's my secret. All they want is a picture, so I give it to them...who'd have thunk, huh?" Kelly turned her head to smile at her.
Carrie shook her head, "Damn those photographers for spoiling a perfectly good smile that should be kissed."
"Damn them is right," Kelly is nodded. She turned, sticking her tongue out at them, causing the flashes to pick up again.
"Kell," Carrie giggled.
"What?" she asked innocently.
"Behave," she nudged her playfully again with her thigh.
"Says the girl, whispering about how lucky I'm going to be later tonight."
"Who said anything about later?"
Kelly caught her raising a curious eyebrow out of the corner of her eye, and she melted.
"Here we are," Kelly placed Carrie down on a chair in the small trailer that was serving as the country singer's dressing room.
Carrie grinned as Kelly turned around to face her. She tugged her forward, pulling her down so that the Texan was straddling her.
Kelly giggled, kissing her softly, "Don't forget you have sound check."
"I won't," Carrie shook her head, returning the kiss. "The band has to warm up before I get there though, right?"
"Right," Kelly smiled as Carrie's fingers ran through her hair. She let her pull her in and kiss her deeply. She pressed herself against Carrie in the chair, her smile growing at the throaty moan she got in reply. She broke the kiss, tilting her head down to plant a line of warm kisses along Carrie's neck.
Carrie's eyes turned upward as she let out a slow breath. Her hands had moved from the Texan's hair to her waist, gripping on to her t-shirt tightly. She was biting her bottom lip hard when a knock on the door caused Kelly to pull back reluctantly. "I'm busy!" she called out, trying to keep her tone polite.
"They're ready for you onstage!" came the familiar voice of her manager.
Carrie pouted, her eyes falling to Kelly's mouth.
Kelly laughed, pressing their lips together sweetly.
"I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to get enough of your kisses," Carrie shook her head.
Kelly smiled, reaching out and tucking a curl behind Carrie's ear, letting her finger's trace along the blonde's jaw, "I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to get used to how beautiful you are."
Carrie bit her bottom lip again before pulling Kelly back to her for a firm kiss. They both pulled away, slightly breathless. "Remember when I said this morning how amazing of a girlfriend you are?"
Kelly nodded attentively.
"I meant that with all my heart," Carrie smoothed a hand down the shorter girl's arm.
Kelly rolled her eyes.
"No, I'm serious," Carrie took her chin in her hand, forcing her not to look away. "You're incredible. Everything you do is incredible. The way you made breakfast for me this morning. The way you carried me through the mud. The things you say..."
"Anybody would do those things," Kelly shrugged.
"No, they wouldn't. That's what I'm trying to say. You're...you just..." Carrie swallowed the lump she felt rising in her throat. "You're perfect. I seriously couldn't ask for anything more. You just...you make me so happy."
Kelly wrapped her arms tightly around her neck, hugging her close. "You have no idea how good it is to hear you say that," she whispered as she buried her face in her hair. "All I want is to make you happy. Like, I seriously wake up thinking that if I manage to get nothing else done that day, I at least have to make sure you're happy."
"Aw...baby..." Carrie pulled back, taking her face in her hands. She felt her soft tears falling onto her fingertips.
"I love you, Care."
"I love you too," Carrie drew her back in for one more kiss before pulling her into another hug.
Kelly groaned in frustration as her cell phone went off, interrupting the two of them. She pulled it out of her pocket, seeing she had two new text messages. "They're from Kate and Jason," she laughed, reading them both. "Apparently they're alone together in my trailer, so they each sent out an s.o.s. for me to go save them."
Carrie giggled as Kelly slid the phone into her back pocket. She slid her hand into the free back pocket, smiling innocently.
Kelly shook her head, grinning, "Sound check. Now."
"And after?"
"And after I have sound check."
"And after?"
"You perform."
"And after?"
"Then I perform."
"And after?"
"Then we do our duets."
"And after?"
"And after, I believe there was a certain promise made about me getting laid that needs to be held up."
"And I'm not one for breaking promises, so..." she leaned in, stealing a quick kiss. "To keep your heart racing until then," she winked.
Kelly giggled as she unstraddled her, offering her a hand up, "I guess I better go save Kate and Jason from the awkwardness."
"You always were a sweet one," she teased as she reached out, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before she opened the door to find her manager, Laura, waiting there impatiently.
"You're running late," Laura fussed.
"Kelly was helping me out with a song I'm writing," Carrie replied. "We were making sweet sweet...music."
Kelly snorted with laughter.
Laura eyed her with a frown before turning back to Carrie, "You know...you're getting weirder and weirder every day."
"Yea, apparently it's contagious," Kelly shrugged.
Carrie nudged her playfully.
Kelly smiled, "I'll come check out your sound check in a little bit, ok?"
"Kell, no...I'll feel retarded doing sound check in front of you."
"Nope, too late, I already decided. See you in a few," she waved, skipping away down the paved sidewalk to her own dressing room.
