"I want so much to open your eyes,
'Cause I need you to look into mine.
Tell me that you'll open your eyes."

Kelly drew in a deep breath. Carrie's lips were soft as they touched hers. She blew all of the air out of her lungs and into Carrie's mouth, watching the country singer's chest slowly rise. She fought against the pair of arms that were pulling her away.
"The paramedics are here. Let them handle it," a deep voice behind her insisted.
She felt herself being led away, and she fought even harder.
"It's ok. They have it under control."
"What do you think you're doing?" Kelly looked up to find Kate's eyes glaring at the person behind her. "Let her go."
"She doesn't need to be here. She did what she could, and she didn't even have to do that. She should go relax and forget about this mess."
Kelly finally recognized the voice as Graham's, and she looked at Kate pleadingly.
"Don't ever lay your hands on her again," Kate warned as she pulled Kelly to her. She pushed her way back through the small crowd that had formed, ignoring the paramedics instructions to stay back as she moved Kelly to the front of the crowd. Carrie lay on the ground, motionless as the paramedics moved quickly around her.
"We've got a pulse," one of them nodded.
Kelly's knees buckled, and she let them, ignoring the sharp pain that shot through her legs as she hit the ground. She watched as they carefully placed Carrie onto the stretcher. Her hand slid, falling limply off the side. Kelly quickly reached out and took it, holding onto it tightly with both of her hands. She was numb. She felt just as lifeless as Carrie appeared at that moment. She didn't notice her legs moving beneath her as she walked with the stretcher towards the ambulance. She didn't see the cameras that were lining the sidewalk. She didn't hear the ambulance's siren that was echoing throughout the park. She didn't even realize she was inside of the ambulance until the doors closed with a loud bang. She was too busy focusing on the hand that was resting inside of her own. She didn't know why, but all of a sudden it seemed so small. She stared at it, refusing to blink, waiting for it to move.
"Ok, we're losing her again..."
Their voices seemed far off. Kelly's mind was spinning, trying to figure out how this could be happening. Carrie had seemed so alive just seconds before.
"Ma'am," a pair of gentle hands wrapped around her own, prying them away from Carrie's. "You need to let go for a moment."
"I can't," Kelly whispered, her voice coming out hoarse.
"We can't use the defibrillator if you're touching her," the paramedic explained.
Kelly looked to find the other paramedic attaching wires to two patches he had placed on Carrie's chest.
"Oh God..." Kelly dropped her hand. "You have to...you have to save her, please," Kelly turned to the paramedic next to her.
"We are doing everything we can, I promise," he nodded.
"Ok, everybody stand clear," the second paramedic instructed. "And three...two...one."
Kelly suddenly felt faint, and she was thankful for the pair of hands lowering her to the bench carefully.

"Hold on, Care," Kelly soothed as she held onto her hand tightly. "We're almost there, just hold on, ok? Please, baby, just hold on."
She was focusing on her hand again. She couldn't bear to look at her face to see her eyes lightly closed, and her mouth slightly parted as if she were merely sleeping.
"It's gonna be ok," Kelly nodded, resting her forehead against their hands.
She could hear the sirens now. It was a loud, screeching sound. She felt it echoing inside of her.
"Ok, we're here," the paramedic announced. "Stand clear, Miss."
Kelly let go of Carrie's hand once more, her stomach twisting as it fell back lifelessly at her side. The ambulance doors opened, and the siren screeched even louder. She watched as they carefully lowered the stretcher off before she quickly scrambled out of the back of the ambulance, retaking her place at Carrie's side, vowing to not let go of her hand again. She held on tightly as the stretcher was rushed through the emergency room. She glanced up to find a small group of various hospital staff already waiting for them.
"We got it from here," a doctor nodded.
Kelly felt herself being pulled away once more, "No, I have to go with her."
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but you can't," a nurse shook her head.
"No, you don't understand," Kelly tried to push past her, watching as they hurried Carrie down the hall.
"Only patients are allowed past this point," the nurse informed her. "Now, please, don't make me call security."
Kelly looked at her in shock. Her eyes quickly moved back to Carrie who the doctors were now turning a corner with, moving her out of sight. "You're going to be ok, Care!"
"Kelly?"
Kelly turned around to find Ashley and Kate rushing into the hospital.
"Jay and the rest of the band are right behind us," Ashley explained as she reached out and took Kelly's elbows in her hands, steadying her. "What's going on? What did they say?"
"I-I don't know," Kelly shook her head, her body trembling. "They just...they just took her. They wouldn't say anything. They wouldn't tell me where she was going. I don't know."
"I'm gonna go see what I can find out, ok?"
Kelly nodded, allowing Kate to pull her close as Ashley carefully handed her off to the taller blonde.
"It's gonna be ok," Kate rubbed her back soothingly.
"They just took her," Kelly replied. "I can't do this. I have to be with her."
"I know. Ashley's gonna find out what's going on, don't worry. Come on, you really need to sit down. You aren't looking too good," Kate led her over to a more secluded area of the waiting room, not even thinking of making a sound of question as she sat down and the Texan curled up onto her lap, just thankful that for once that she could return the favor of all the times the shorter girl had been there for her.
"She has to be ok," Kelly breathed. "I need her to be ok."
"I know," Kate replied, going back to rubbing comforting circles on her back.
"I need her," Kelly closed her eyes tightly as she buried her face in Kate's neck.
"Shh..." Kate soothed at the feeling of warm tears against her skin. "Carrie is tough, ok? She is. She may not have always known it, but you've shown her that. She's a fighter, and she's going to fight through this, ok?"
"What if she can't?" Kelly choked on her own tears. "She looked so weak."
"She's not just fighting for herself," Kate pointed out. "She's fighting for you, and she would never leave you alone like this. She loves you way too much to do that to you."
"Kate..."
"Ok, ok," Kate wrapped her arms around her tighter as she felt Kelly breaking down in her arms. "Shh...it's ok. It's going to be ok."
"I just want to see her smile again," Kelly admitted, her voice nearly too thick to understand. "I need to tell her I love her. She needs to know that I love her."
"She knows," Kate assured. "I promise, she knows."
