"Baby I've been here before.
I know this room, I walked this floor.
I used to live alone before I knew you.
Yea, I've seen your flag on the marble arch,
But this love, love is not some kind of victory march,
No, it's cold and it's a very broken Hallelujah."

Kelly rested her head against Kate's shoulder, her eyes lightly closed so as to not be bothered. She could hear more people entering the waiting room as Kate hummed softly to her. Someone sat next to them, and she recognized the voice as her brother's.
"Have y'all found out what's going on?" Jason whispered.
"No," Kate shook her head. "Ashley's trying to find out something, anything at this point."
"She's gonna be ok, I mean...she has to be, right?"
"Yea," Kate replied, and Kelly could feel her hand rubbing her arm comfortingly. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course," Jason nodded.
"There was this guy trying to pull Kelly away from Carrie back at the park. Who was that?"
"What did he look like?"
"Tall, scruffy."
"Oh, that was Graham."
"Graham?"
"Kelly's ex. You never met him?"
"No," Kate shook her head.
"Oh yea...he came before you and Jill. She's talked about him, though, hasn't she?"
"She's mentioned him a couple times," Kate shrugged. "Why was he there?"
"I don't know. Carrie definitely wasn't happy about it. She said not to let him anywhere near Kelly."
"Carrie doesn't seem the possessive type."
"It wasn't jealousy," Jason replied. "She sincerely seemed to be protecting Kelly."
"From what?"
"I have no clue," he sighed.
"Well, from the fact that he was trying to pull Kelly away when she so clearly wanted to stay with Carrie, and the look she had in her eyes when she seemed to realize who he was, maybe Carrie was right."
"Maybe so..."
"Ashley," Kate's voice came out relieved.
Kelly quickly opened her eyes, scrambling off of Kate's lap as Ashley walked over to them, "What did you find out?"
"They wouldn't tell me anything about how she was," Ashley looked at her apologetically. "But I was able to get a room number out of a nurse."
"Room number?" Jason questioned. "That's good, then, right? If she's in a room, then she's not in surgery, right?"
"I don't know--"
"What's the number?" Kelly interrupted.
"346, but Kelly, I really don't think you'll be able to..." her voice trailed off as Kelly pushed past them, rushing towards the nearest elevator. Ashley turned back to Jason and Kate to find the rest of Kelly's band gathered around them.
"What's happening?" Corry asked nervously.
"I don't know," Ashley shook her head.
"She's going to be ok, right?" Aben questioned. "I mean, she has to be. Kelly can't...she has to be ok."
"I don't..." her voice trailed off at the worried look in all of their eyes. "She'll pull through."

Kelly hurried out of the elevator, stopping when she turned a corner to find a large man leaning against the wall. She recognized him as one of Carrie's body guards that she had run into from time to time. When Carrie had first introduced them she had compared him to Brian, saying that he had been with her since the beginning and was someone she knew she could count on.
Kelly's shoe squeaked against the floor, and the body guard immediately straightened up.
"Kelly," he let out a breath of relief upon recognizing the singer.
"How is she, Jake?" Kelly asked, putting all of her concentration on keeping her voice steady.
"They wouldn't tell me anything besides that they are getting her ready for surgery," he shook his head.
"Surgery," Kelly repeated, suddenly feeling faint.
"Are you ok?" Jake reached out, steadying her.
"I...I just..."
"The doctor and a couple of nurses are in there with her now," he confided. "You can wait with me if you want, and see if maybe you can get some more information out of them. Put that smile to good use, eh?"
Kelly nodded, taking a place with him against the wall. She felt a heavy hand being placed on her shoulder, and she reached up, patting it comfortingly. "You've known her longer than I have...she's never said anything about this?"
"No," Jake sighed. "Nothing, but I do know that she's tough. She'll fight through it."
Kelly sniffed back the tears she felt threatening to form, "You didn't see her. She looked so small and broken."
"She's tough," he repeated. "Trust me. People don't realize all the stuff she goes through because she keeps to herself so much, you know? And unfortunately, because of that they judge her and they get the wrong impression of her...people can be cruel, but she doesn't let it get to her. She doesn't let it change her. She's tougher than any of us realize, I think. You just keep saying that to yourself, that she's tough and that she's a fighter. I know that's the only thing keeping me going right now."
Kelly gave his hand a gentle squeeze, her eyes stinging, "She's tough."
"Yep."
Kelly closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the walls.
"What are you thinking about?"
"A happy day."
They both straightened up as the door to Carrie's hospital room open.
"Doctor?" Kelly questioned, stopping the man that was exiting the room.
"Sorry," he replied, not even looking at her as he walked passed her. "I can't answer any questions."

She felt the limo come to a stop, and her sister announced their arrival at the church after looking out of the window. She nodded, taking a deep breath.
"Are you sure--" her sister began.
"I'm sure," she cut her off.
The limo driver opened the door for her, giving her a helping hand out.
"Thank you," she smiled politely.
"You know, it's not too late--" her sister began again as she exited the limo.
She turned around to face her, "If all you are going to do is question me, then why don't you just stay in the limo?"
"People would understand," her sister softened her voice. "She would understand. This has just all happened so fast."
"You are my sister," she narrowed her eyes. "I asked you to be here for your support. If I don't have it, then don't you dare enter the church with me."
"You know I'm here for you, but I just think you need more time."
