Storm(Pt3)
The bed was overturned from the rushing water, sending them both tumbling across the room. Sav hit the wall on the other side of the room some ten feet away. He was momentarily dazed about what happened, he shook the water from his face and stood up. He became aware of the stinging salt water in his cuts on several places of his body, from the debris that the wave ripped apart from the house. Sav looked up to where the east wall of the room use to be, lightening flashed revealing splintered pieces of wood. The ceiling was sagging in the middle, without the support of the east wall, it was sure to cave in.
Sav glanced around as the water began to rise around him, he spun his head toward the gaping hole just as the white-capped wave slammed into the house. He didn’t have time to leap toward the ceiling and was at the mercy of the swirling water and all of its deadly objects. Sav sucked in a mouth full of water, when he was impelled in his back and upper thigh with jagged pieces of wood. Once the water subsided to knee deep he was able to see the wood imbedded in his leg. Clenching his teeth he pulled it out, but he couldn’t reach the one in his back. He suddenly stopped and looked around what was left of the room.
“JOE!” he screamed at the top of his lungs, causing him to cough up the water. The pain in his back forgotten, he searched franticly around the room to find him.
“JOE, where the hell…..” Sav spotted his hand gripping the dresser. It had him pinned to the wall with a pile of debris holding it in place, and the rest of his body was under water.
“Shit….” Mindless of his own injuries, Sav literally flew over there. Grabbing his hand he was relieved when Joe held it tight. Sav stormed into his mind and reached under the water to feel his face. Releasing his hold on Joe's hand, he felt around until he had a good grip under is arms and pulled. The pain that come from Joe swept through his mind, causing him to stop. The water started to receded again of the incoming wave.
“Shit.” Sav hissed, he started clawing at the pile in front of the dresser.
“I’m going to drown.” He heard Joe say when the water went down enough.
“No you want, you don’t have to breath, we can’t drowned.” Sav quickly reassured him. “Another wave is coming in, so just hang on, I’ll get…..”
The wave crashed into the room, the ceiling gave way and a large piece landing on the top of the dresser, slanted down from the inner wall. Once the water around him calmed somewhat, Sav was digging at the pile again. Joe was under water again and it was deeper now.
Sav was suddenly jerked away from his task and spun around to face Nick.
“Nick how the hell…help me get him out.” Sav quickly turned back around and started on the pile again.
“I have to pull that wood from your back.”
“Forget it, don’t have time… help me goddamnit!” Sav yelled.
“Put these on.” Nick shoved a pair of wet shorts in his face.
“Your thinking about clothes, I don’t believe this! Joe is trapped behind here and your thinking about clothes!”
“Put them on and I’ll keep moving this stuff.”
Sav snatched the shorts from him and Nick bent down, grabbing broken pieces of furniture and other stuff and tossed it aside.
“Damnit, the water is going out again.” Sav told him.
“Let me try to move the dresser and you pull him out.” Nick said. “Hurry up.”
Sav moved over to grab Joe under the arms again and Nick pulled the dresser away from the wall. The wave came in, the rest of the house groaned around them, the inner wall behind Joe was pushed from the foundation but held, ut it also gave Sav the needed room and he pulled Joe free. He came out of the water screaming in pain.
“We have to get out of here before the rest of the house goes.” Nick told them.
“Don’t you fucking move me?” Joe hissed.
“We have to.” Sav told him as he held him against his chest.
“Both of my legs are broken Sav.”
“It’ll be alright, but we have to go.” Sav told him and went to get up, jarring his legs.
“Aahhh…..hurts to much.” Joe told them and dug his fingers in Sav arm. “Nick get out of my head, not enough room for three.” Joe immediately felt some of the pain in his legs subside. “How….how….what are you doing?”
“Just a little something I picked up centuries ago.” Nick replied and took his other arm.
Moving quickly, Nick and Sav supported all of Joe’s weight and dragged him from the wrecked house, before the next wave came in and took it down. They moved to the small hill not to far from the house and gently sat him on the ground. Holding Joe’s mind with his to keep some of the pain at bay, Nick slid another pair of shorts on him.
“Can’t have you both walking around nude.”
Joe couldn’t help but laugh. “He’s worried about clothes. When the fucking house just fell down around us!” His last words were yelled at Nick.
Nick chuckled at him and Joe swung out his fist and punched him in the jaw, sending Nick to his butt. Sav grabbed his chin and made Joe look at him. He’s eyes glowed amber and his fangs were present.
“Here you need this.” Sav told him softly. “It’ll help heal your legs, and it’s going to hurt just a little bit.” Sav tilted his head and pulled him forward. Joe buried his fangs into Sav’s throat and pulled hard on his blood. His hand bumped the wood in Sav’s back, causing him to jump and realized it was still there.
Nick came up behind him, holding Sav’s shoulder he gently pulled it out.
“Not to much more.” Nick told him.
“I know.” Sav said and began to push him away. Joe released him and slumped against his chest. “How do they feel now?”
“Hurts.”
“It’ll go away soon.”
“Joe, do you need any more?” Nick asked.
“I don’t know, how much does it take.”
“More than what you took from Sav.” Nick told him. “What about you?”
“I’m fine, for now.”
“We need to get out of this rain.”
“We can go to my other house.” Sav told him and stood up. Nick noticed he swayed on his feet a little.
“I’ll take him, the car is trashed and we’ll have to fly.”
“I’ve never done that.” Joe said.
“And now is not the time for lessons. You're much to weak for that.”
“Nick will have to carry you.” Sav said holding him up.
“Why can’t you?”
“I’ll barely make it myself.”
“Why, did I take too much.”
“Almost.” Sav smiled at him. Before Nick took him, Sav closed his mouth over his, darting his tongue in briefly before he pulled away.
“That was nice.” Joe mumbled.
“Very.”
Nick gathered Joe in his arms. “Go to sleep.”
“Good idea. Hate to miss my first flight without a plane.”
“There is plenty of time for that.” Nick said.
“Ready?” Sav asked him.
“Yes, lets go.”
The three of them took to the air and flew through the pouring rain as fast as they could toward Sav’s other house, far inland from the raging ocean. Nick carried Joe with ease and kept a watchful eye on Sav, as he led them to the other place.
