CHAPTER 15
Two Months Later
Kyo didn’t look very pleased when he saw Toshiya at his doorstep but he didn’t look very angry either. He let Toshiya in and showed him to sit on the sofa.
-Sorry I came unannounced, -Toshiya said. –But I hoped I’ll find you home.
Kyo gave him a bear and put an ashtray on the table in front of them. Then he took a notebook and started writing something then gave it to Toshiya.
~Sorry for everything I said to you then and for throwing things at you. I was mad and you just got into my way. I miss your presents a lot. I hope you still want to be friends with me.~
-Of course I want to be friends with you, Kyo-kun! –Toshiya said after reading. –And I’m not angry at you at all.
Kyo smiled in response. ~So how’s your pop-freak doing?~
-I don’t know… We’re not together. He never took me seriously and I wanted more than just fucking…
Kyo looked sympathetically at Toshiya.
-Let’s better change the subject! –Toshiya suggested. –I found a job! I’m drawing now! What about you?
~I didn’t look for a job. Nobody would hire me anyway. What could I do when I can’t talk? I think I’ll start writing.~
-That’s a good idea, Kyo.
~And I started to learn sign language. That sucks, but I have to.~
-Ah… Poor Kyo-kun, -Toshiya smiled. –I bet it’s difficult.
Kyo nodded.
-Have you seen Shinya and Die after… you know…
~They were here once and Shinya was here alone also once. He feels that he has to feed me from time to time.~
-Good for you! I wish he would come to make me dinner at least once!
~Haven’t you seen him?~
-No, -Toshiya pouted. –We e-mail each other and Die. They both work also, so they barely have free time. And we know what they like to do most in their free time, -Toshiya grinned evilly and Kyo smiled. –And what about Kaoru? –Toshiya asked warily. –Have you seen him?
Kyo just shook his head once and took a sip from his glass. The last time he saw Kaoru was when Kaoru shouted on him and threatened to kill him. He couldn’t say that he saw him in the studio when he brought the documents because he didn’t look at him. He couldn’t even say how he was dressed.
~How is he?~
-Um… I see him a lot, actually… He found a job very quickly because there were a lot of suggestions for him. But… he still can’t get over the loss of Dir En Grey… Whenever we go to drink he ends up talking about the same thing: how he wants the old days back when everything was fine in the band and when we still had a band. How he hates the jerks he has to work with and how he can’t stop thinking about…
Toshiya suddenly fell silent and drank more bear.
-You know… we should get back together one day. To go somewhere or just go to someone’s place and spend some time together like we used to.
~That’s barely possible, Totchi.~
-Yeah… I know you’re right, -Toshiya sighted. –Well, I’ll go now. Though it’s weekend, I have work to do. It sucks! I don’t even have time to find someone to screw with! It gets very tiring to always jerk yourself watching some crappy porn.
~I know what you mean.~
They both smiled and then Toshiya left.

-Kaoru-san! –was all Shinya managed to say when he saw leader at his door step. –Come in!
-Who’s there, Shin-chan? –Die’s voice was heard from the kitchen.
-You’ll see! –Shinya answered. Kaoru took his shoes off and patted Miyu on her head because she was sniffing his legs. Then Kaoru followed Shinya in the kitchen.
-Kaoru? –Die was also surprised.
-You don’t need to act as if you haven’t seen me for ages. It’s been only two months.
-I know, but still, -Shinya said. –Well, sit down! Do you want something?
-Uh… Tea would be nice.
Shinya started making tea and Die and Kaoru lit their cigarettes.
-So how’re you doing? –Die asked. –Me and Shinya work and it’s a real hell at the beginning. We almost had to beg for the free Sundays. There’s enough work to do for upcoming five years!
-I work too. I can’t say I really enjoy it… But since I can’t have Dir En Grey back, I have to be satisfied with this.
-I know. Our lives changed so much…
Shinya placed cups in front of them and sat down.
-We wrote you, but you never answered, Kaoru, -Shinya said a bit angrily.
-I’m sorry… I just didn’t want to see any of you. I needed time to stop feeling furious on all four of you.
-Heh…
-I know it’s not your fault, but I just wanted to be alone for some time.
-Are you feeling better now? –Shinya asked.
-Am I not here?
-You’re as sweet as ever, -Die joked. –But really, are you ok?
-I’m feeling much better… But…
Kaoru sighted and put out his cigarette.
-Have you seen Kyo?
Die and Shinya exchanged looks at this sudden change of conversation.
-Yes, -finally Shinya said.
-How is he?
-He’s better. At least he doesn’t look like he’s going to burst from anger at any moment. Though I definitely can’t say that he can accept the fact that he lost his voice… he still looks at a loss of what to do…
-Yeah, so I suggested him to start writing, -Die said. –He seemed to be interested in this idea.
-He sits at home all the time and doesn’t know what to do, -Shinya continued. –I guess he needs more time to accept the situation.
-Has he… -Kaoru asked silently, -ever asked about me?
-Why do you ask?
-Well, we worked together for so long… And we even were a couple for almost a year! I was used to see him every day. I kind of miss his presence… I mean, it’s weird not to have him around and hear his complains or snores everyday.
-Kaoru… -Shinya sighted, -why don’t you go and visit him yourself instead of wasting your time here?
-I think it’s better for us not to see each other again. I may miss him, but I can’t control myself when he’s near. I think I’ll end up screaming on him and blaming him for screwing up our band. And though I don’t know for sure, I still think that it’s better for him not to see me at all. Am I right?
-Yes, Kaoru, I think it’s the best solution, -Shinya sighted. –He still loves you, Kaoru…
-That’s what I…
But Kaoru didn’t finish. He took a sip of tea and smiled.
-And how are you guys? Will my evil prediction of your split up will come true?
-No way! –Die laughed. –We’re still madly in love, nee Shin-chan?
Die hugged Shinya and kissed him on the cheek making Shinya blush a little.
-Well, I’m glad to hear that, -Kaoru smiled. Suddenly Die’s phone rang.
-It’s from work, -Die said after glancing at it and excused himself.
-Shinya, does Die really treat you right? –Kaoru asked when Die vanished in the other room. –I know how selfish and sloppy he can be.
-Kaoru, I’m very happy with him, -Shinya smiled. –You don’t need to worry. Maybe he is a little carefree, but he takes our relationship seriously. When I got sick two weeks ago, he did everything to please me. You don’t know how whinny I can be when I’m sick. He took care of me and even when I was ok again, he didn’t stop asking if I’m feeling fine. He even asked my permission for making love to me… Usually he just persuades me into doing it or makes me beg for it, -Shinya blushed. –He’s a sweetheart, Kaoru and I’m really happy with him.
-I’m relieved to hear that. I somehow faired that he’ll have already left you because you let him screw you whenever he wanted.
-You were wrong, Kaoru, -Shinya said pleasantly. –We proved you wrong.
-Yeah, you did…
When Die came back they started chatting about everything and it almost felt like he old times.
