Chapter 15: The Day Before
Andy sighed as she closed the binder and sat back on the couch. It was late and she needed to rest her eyes for a little while. She couldn't focus on the business plan for another second. She looked at her watch and her eyes widened when she saw it was close to four in the morning.
She rubbed her eyes and let out a sigh. She looked at the coffee table and saw a manila folder. Furrowing her eyebrows she sat up and picked up the folder. She opened it and looked through the papers. After reading what was in it, she again sat back on the couch with the file open in her lap. She crossed her arms trying to figure out where it came from.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard footsteps. She didn't react because she knew she was in for it. Lynn went to bed hours ago. She told her she would follow shortly. She just didn't expect to be up this late. She heard some rustling in the kitchen, but kept her attention on the file in front of her.
It wasn't long until Lynn came out of the kitchen with two coffee mugs. She sat down next to Andy and gave her a tired smile.
"Here, some tea." She said giving Andy one of the mugs, "It'll help you sleep."
"You're an angel, I swear." Andy said smiling at her taking the mug. She took a small sip and closed her eyes. She set the mug down on the side table and closed the file. She turned to Lynn and showed her the folder.
"Is this your doing?" Andy asked and Lynn nodded.
"Yeah, I just couldn't get her out of my mind. So I made some calls." She said taking the folder from Andy, opening it.
"Turns out she was dropped off at a children's home when she was about one. No one ever came to claim her. When she was about five she went into a foster home. That particular foster home wasn't a good one. So she went back to the home after about six months. Long story short she's been in and out of foster homes since she was five. I don't know, I've been thinking about her and her situation wondering if there's anything more we can do." Lynn said with a sigh, closing the folder and tossing it on the table.
Andy smiled and put her hand on Lynn's leg, "She's been on my mind too. I've been trying to read Antony and Chris's business plan but I can't focus. All I keep seeing is Mila. How scared she was. I still hear those giggles when I asked her classmates if they thought she was weird. I'm sure she's been having a hard time. It's only October and school started last month. But the first few months are hard. You're going from middle school to high school.
Sometimes friends from middle school don't end up in the same high school because of the zones they're in. So friendships break and they have to start all over. I've done it all my life. Moving from place to place. Had to make new friends everywhere I went. Then, we finally settled here. I still keep in contact with some friends from middle school and high school. But we don't have the bond anymore." Andy sniffled and cleared her throat.
Andy adjusted in her seat and Lynn put her hand over hers and gave her a gentle squeeze.
"I was bullied my first two years of high school. Well, my second year wasn't too bad. But by the time my senior year came around it was like everyone knew who I was. I didn't know who anyone was. But for some reason I was popular. I didn't know why until this freshman came up to me. He thanked me for stopping a few jocks from beating him up. I just remember seeing this kid getting pushed around just because he was wearing suspenders." Andy chuckled and shook her head.
"I guess this kid was going around telling his story and all of sudden I became this person that everyone knew. Every time I saw someone getting pushed around or a jock knocked books out of some one's hand I would step in and help. No one deserves to get bullied NO ONE! I wish there was more I could do. I want these kids to have a voice. Words are so powerful, people don't realize just how much they hurt."
Lynn reached over and wiped a tear from Andy's cheek. She moved closer to her and Andy put her arm around her, "Did you just hear what you said about the boy? You helped him. You've been helping and inspiring people for a long time and you don't even know it. You ARE helping people. Just like that guy in Atlanta. Your music inspired him. Your strength is inspiring people. I'm so proud of you, and I love you."
Andy smiled and kissed Lynn's forehead, "I'm proud of you, and I love you. Maybe I could do a lecture tour or something and just talk to students. Now that I'm this role model to a lot of people, I just want to keep inspiring them. Just like you inspire me every day."
"YOU inspire me. We'll think of something." She grabbed a blanket and put it over them, "This couch is too comfortable. I don't want to move." She said with a smile.
Andy chuckled, "I'm just your teddy bear."
"Of course. You're so comfy, I don't know how to explain it. When you were gone I had a big problem trying to sleep. Your shirts started to lose your scent."
"Same." Andy adjusted a little more and now they were both comfortable. She reached over to the side table and took a sip out of her mug. She put it back down and her eyes turned to the file.
"So, if we're both thinking about Mila, I'm hoping you're thinking what I'm thinking." She said wrapping her arms around Lynn.
Lynn rested her head on Andy's chest and let out a small yawn, "What are you thinking?"
"Giving Mila a home. A permanent one. Think we can try to meet with someone and ask about it?"
Lynn shrugged, "I could make a few calls. See what happens. But you also have to think we both travel a lot, plus she's a teenager. So we have to think about her education, and if she gonna come with us when we go on tour. Or when you have to go to a photo shoot."
"We could always have a tutor. Or we could just take her with us during her school breaks."
Lynn closed her eyes and smiled, "We'll figure it out. But right now we have to be up in about three hours. Have a lot to do in the morning. Plus Jennie is coming to do our hair. But right now, YOU need some sleep."
Andy nodded, "You're right. Here let me lay down a bit more." She said and they adjusted until Andy was on her back, she wrapped her arm around Lynn and kissed the top of her head. Within moments the two were asleep. The morning was going to be really hectic, and a lot to get done before the wedding. But both their thoughts went to Mila.
******************************************************************************
Andy yawned and then took a sip of her coffee. She was standing outside Peabody's with Ethan, Michael, Terry, and Cam. They were waiting for Frank to come and open the club. She called him yesterday and he said everything was set up. They just had to make the final decisions of how they wanted everything.
"Hey, what do you guys know about adoption?" She asked and they all looked at her with a confused look.
"What do you mean? Are you and Lynn thinking about adopting?" Ethan asked.
Andy shrugged, "We met a girl the other day when I took Lynn to meet some of my high school teachers. She's been in and out of foster homes, doesn't have any family that she knows of. From the reaction of her classmates I had this feeling she was getting bullied. I don't know, she's just been on my mind. Same with Lynn. I was looking at the business plan Antony and Chris drew up but I couldn't focus on it."
Andy let out a sigh, "I saw this file on the table. Turns out Lynn did some of her own research. We talked about it last night, but we haven't come to a decision yet."
"Why don't you talk to Kat? Didn't she adopt Leigh?" Michael asked.
"Yeah, but Leigh is her sister's daughter. So it was an easy adoption. Lynn and I are jumping right into it. We invited her to the wedding tomorrow. I had an invention on me. I wanted to see if there was a student I would connect with and there was Mila. I don't know guys. I guess I just wanna help her." Andy let out a sigh and took another sip of her coffee.
Terry put a hand on her shoulder and gave her a gentle squeeze, "I'm sure whatever happens, happens. Maybe start off with fostering her first and go from there."
"Yeah, do a trial run. But have you two considered her education? I mean you both are going to be traveling a lot. With your photography and PVRIS going on tour when they come out with their new album." Cam said.
"We did, briefly. I mentioned having a tutor, or we just travel on her school breaks. I don't know. Like I said I've just been thinking about her." Andy shrugged again just as a white car pulled up.
"I'm sure you two will figure it out. You both always do." Michael said with a smile.
"But right now you have a wedding to worry about. Tomorrow's the big day. Where are you two going to stay?" Ethan asked.
"Lynn and all the bridesmaids are going to be staying at the rental house. I'm caught between staying with my parents, or using Wendy and Shey's place. They both said I could stay there and the groomsmen can stay there too." Andy told them.
"No, no, you and everyone can stay with me and Brendon. We just moved into a house and we have the room. Plus it's not too far from the church." Michael offered.
"Are you sure?"
"Andy, it's fine. We'll have some pizza, play video games, watch some movies. Have a guys night like we used to." Michael reassured her.
"Okay, but you will have to put up with me getting my hair colored for a couple of hours." She said with a smile.
"Ahh, the only time you can be a girl is when you get your hair done." Cam said with a small laugh as Frank walked up to them and shook their hands.
"Morning everyone. I just got off the phone with Antony, he and Claire are going to be here this afternoon to take a quick look at the kitchen." He said with a smile and unlocked the door.
"We have everything decorated to the way you want it. Just let me know if we need to make any adjustments." He told them as he opened the door and led them in.
Andy sighed, "Three hours of sleep, I'm gonna need more coffee."
"Figured you would say that. Here." Terry said giving her a bottle with yellow liquid.
"How did you know?" She asked with a smile reading the label.
"Oh, I remembered from tour, no worries. Now come on let's see what kind of stage they got." He said as they all climbed the stairs.
Andy had to put Mila in the back of her mind and focus on the wedding. It was going to be a long day. Just as she reached the landing her phone started to ring. She saw Melissa's name pop up. She told the guys to go ahead and she would catch up.
"Melissa, hey." She said into her phone with a smile.
"Andy, you need to listen to me VERY carefully." Melissa said in a rush.
***********************************************************************************
"So are you two going to foster or adopt?" Angel asked putting the final touches on the arch that Andy and Lynn where going to stand under for the wedding.
Lynn shrugged, "I'm not sure. She's coming to the wedding, but I put in a few calls. Andy and I just couldn't get her out of our minds. I don't know, but we both want to help her in some way."
"I'm sure you two will figure something out. You both always seem to be on the same page about almost everything." Wendy said with a smile hanging up the last streamer. She got down from the ladder and walked over to them.
"Okay, so what do we have left?" Lauren asked finishing up putting the lace on the pews.
Lynn looked around the church and smiled. Everything look perfect in her eyes. The streamers of the colors intertwined with each other. The arch with the flowers of the colors as well, fit perfectly together. The bows and the lace on the pews looked perfect and the only thing she could think of was to put the decorations on the front doors.
She was just about to ask someone to do it when they all heard the door open. They turned to see who it was and they all were confused and surprised to see the couple walk through the door.
"What are they doing here?" Angel said stepping in front of Lynn.
"I think the question is, how do they know we're here?!" Lauren said also stepping in front of Lynn.
"It's like their stalking her or something." Kim said standing next to Angel.
"They're gonna have to get past us first." Lisa said crossing her arms.
Wendy, Shey, Kayla, and Brittany didn't know what was going on, but they stood by the women. Lynn put a gentle hand on Angel's shoulder and she nodded. Angel stepped aside and Lynn stood in front of her.
The two women walked the rest of the aisle and came to a stop when they came close.
"Hey Lynn, congratulations." Alexa said with a soft smile.
"We wanted to stop by and give you this." Cacie said with a smile, giving her a wrapped gift. Lynn smiled and took it from her.
"Thank you, um, how did you know I was going to be here? We didn't announce our location."
Alexa chuckled softly, "You forget, we still have the same label, so word gets around."
"Right, I did forget." Lynn said softly.
"I also need to talk to you in private, if that's okay?" Alexa asked.
"I think the fuck not!" Angel said stepping up standing next to Lynn.
"You call tell her in front of us. You're NOT going to be alone with her!" Angel nearly yelled.
Lynn again put a gentle hand on her shoulder and nodded, "It's okay Angel. I'll be fine."
She looked at Alexa, "We can go to one of the rooms we're using for the wedding tomorrow. Follow me." Lynn said and started to walk towards one of the doors by the alter.
Alexa gave Cacie a kiss on her forehead, then started to follow Lynn. Once the two were out of sight, Angel rolled her eyes and scoffed. When she walked passed Cacie she purposely bumped into her shoulder. Kim, Lisa, and Lauren all followed Angel all three glaring at Cacie as they walked by.
Wendy, Shey, Brittany, and Kayla were still confused. Kayla was about to ask what was going on, but they heard Angel yell their names. Without another word the four women rushed down the aisle to where the other women were. Angel said she would explain everything, she just couldn't be in the same room with her.
Lynn walked into a room and took out her phone. She had to send Andy a message. After quickly typing out what she wanted to say she sent the message and looked out the window. She took a deep breath and turned to Alexa.
She didn't close the door so Lynn walked past her to close it.
"We need to talk." Alexa said as the other woman closed the door.
**********************************************************************************
"And that is the story of how much we don't like those two." Angel said sitting back in her chair.
"Wow, kind of sounds like what Andy went through with Vicki." Shey said and Wendy nodded.
Brittany was about to say something but they saw Andy's truck speeding towards the church. Once the truck was in the parking lot it screeched to a halt. Andy didn't care how she parked it. They all saw her rush out of the truck and slam the driver side door shut making the truck shake.
They all stood up as Andy rushed up to them, "Where is she?" She asked rushing pass them.
"She's in one of the rooms behind the altar!" Kim called after her as Andy quickened her step. She saw Cacie sitting in one of the pews.
"You two need to stop finding us." Andy said.
"Andy wait!" Cacie yelled getting up and following her.
Andy came to a hallway and three doors were closed. She wasn't sure which one they were in until she heard Lynn yelling. She ran towards the door and tried to open it, but it was locked.
"Lynn! Are you in there?!" Andy yelled banging on the door.
"Andy! She locked the door!" Lynn yelled.
"Are you okay?!" Andy said trying to open the door. She didn't want to do any damage but at this moment in time she didn't care what the cost would be. She started to use her shoulder against the door to break it open.
"Alexa open the door! Please!" Cacie said with tears running down her face.
Andy was about to take one more go at the door when she heard the lock click. She opened it up and saw Lynn sitting in a chair hunched over crying. She rushed over to her and kneeled in front of her, "Hey, baby, I'm here. I'm right here." She whispered gently putting some loose strands behind Lynn's ear.
Lynn looked at her with teary eyes and quickly wrapped her arms around her. She held onto her like she was her lifeline. Just then Angel came rushing in and saw what was going on. She came over to them and she put a hand on Andy's shoulder.
"Babe, I'm gonna give you to Angel, I need to talk to Alexa." Andy whispered. Lynn drew back and looked at her with worried eyes.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything. I just want to talk. Ask her why she seems to keep following you around." Andy stood up taking Lynn with her. Angel put her arm around her best friend and they slowly started to make their way out of the room. Lynn looked back at Andy and she gave her a reassuring smile. Once they were out of the room. Andy motioned for Cacie to come in.
When she was in the room Andy walked over to the door and closed it. She put her hands in her pockets and paced for a moment. Alexa crossed her arms and glared at Andy while Cacie sat down in one of the chairs trying to figure out why Alexa was so upset. She's been acting really weird since Andy and Lynn announced their marriage to the world.
"What were you and my wife talking about?" Andy finally said as she stopped pacing and leaned against the desk crossing her arms.
"That's none of your business." Alexa said with a scoff.
"It IS my business when I get a frantic text from my wife, and me finding her here in tears! I'm going to ask you again. What were you and my wife talking about?" Andy asked again staring Alexa down.
"Fine," Alexa said with a sigh. "I guess I just wanted to know why you and her married so quickly. Because when she and I talked about marriage she told me she wasn't ready and we were together for two fucking years! You show up and ten months later you're married to her! You're a fan for crying out loud! You're NOT a match for her!"
Andy nodded and looked over at Cacie. She was looking at Alexa in shock. She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked at the ground. This would explain why Alexa was acting the way she was the last couple of weeks.
"Go on, because I think you have more to say about my relationship with your EX!" Andy said standing straight up, crossing her arms.
"I don't think you're good enough for her. Not with your name being in scandals lately." Alexa said looking at her hard.
It dawned on Andy when she heard those words, "You're the one." She said in almost a whisper. She rushed to the door and opened it. She rushed down the hallway and towards the main area of the church. Her eyes frantically searching for Lynn. She found her sitting with all the bridesmaids under the arch.
Andy slowly walked up to them and Lynn looked up with a teary smile. She stood up wrapping her arms around her. Andy held her tight. She wished she could make this all go away. This was the last thing they needed before the wedding just more stress.
"She told us everything. What happened with you two?" Angel said. Andy sighed as she and Lynn pulled away from each other but Andy kept her arm around Lynn holding her close.
Andy cleared her throat and looked at Lynn, "Remember a couple of years ago when Ethan and I were in Boston for Christmas?" Lynn nodded.
"Do you remember getting a text saying, 'She's not good enough'?" Andy asked and Lynn looked at her with wide eyes.
"How do you remember that?"
"I've thought about it every day since. Trying to figure out who would send it. While I was in there confronting Alexa she said that I'm not good enough for you and it just clicked. She's the one that sent it." Andy explained.
Without another word Lynn rushed towards the hallway.
"Oh shit!" Angel said and everyone followed her with Andy in the lead. Once in the hallway they heard yelling coming from one of the rooms. As they got closer the yelling became louder.
"How could you?! After what you did! Here I was for MONTHS thinking I wasn't good enough for you because you left me for someone else!" Lynn yelled.
"Lynn I didn't know! I swear! She just started acting like this since you and Andy announced your marriage. I thought you two FINALLY had your closure. I know you did, because of Andy. But Alexa can't get over the fact that you and her were together for two years and never made it down the aisle. But you and Andy were together for ten months and got married. She just wants to know why?!" Cacie said through her tears.
"The reason why, is because Andy made me feel wanted, loved, needed. She gave me room to breathe. She saw pass my image and saw me for me. She never used my platform for her own gain. I don't have to worry about her when she's not with me. I don't have to second guess if she's interested in someone else. I NEVER doubted her. I TRUST her. I MADE her go to live out her dream. Sure it was a rough year but we got through because we were able to come into our own. I fell in love with her because loves me for me. She's always told me the truth." Lynn told Alexa not taking her eyes off of her.
"The truth? Really?! What about Ireland, or that bar fight?! She's been in the news more than you! She has scandal written all over her!" Alexa shouted.
"You stop right there!" Angel said stepping in. "In all the time I've known Andy she's been there for Lynn! She's backed up every accusation with her own truth! Everything checked out! EVERYTHING! You're just jealous because Lynn didn't want you! But you gave up on her! Andy didn't! Andy NEVER once gave up on Lynn! You found your way into the arms of someone else when Lynn needed you the most! You LEFT her! You left her angry, depressed and hurt! She NEEDED you and you just gave up because someone else came into your life!" Angel yelled taking another step towards Alexa.
"You have some nerve coming her confronting them the day before their wedding! I suggest you two leave before you two cause any more damage." Angel finished crossing her arms.
"I still have more to say." Alexa said standing her ground.
"Ohh, we think you've said enough. The door is that way." Lisa said standing next to Angel and pointing towards the door. Alexa rolled her eyes and huffed.
"This isn't over!" She said walking out. Cacie slowly stood up and looked at everyone.
"I'm so sorry. I promise we won't bother you both anymore. I'm so sorry." Cacie said and she rushed out. When they both left Andy went up to Lynn and just put her arms around her.
The women decided to give the two some space and they left the room, closing the door. Andy and Lynn just stayed in each other's arms not saying a word. They just needed each other now more than ever. They've overcame so much and they knew this was going to be hard. But as long as they had each other they would get through it.
***************************************************************************
"Thank you Martha." Andy said with a smile when the older lady put down two coffee mugs of hot chocolate, with whip cream.
Andy smiled reaching across the table taking Lynn's hand in hers, "You know it's like eighty degrees."
Andy shrugged, "But hot chocolate always makes things better." She said with a wink.
"Melissa actually called me before you sent me your text." Andy confessed. Lynn took a sip of her hot chocolate and looked at her.
"Really? About Taylor?"
Andy shook her head, "She spotted Alexa and Cacie in town. She figured they were trying to find us. She forgot that she has some people still representing them. So word got out about our location for our wedding. Right after we hung up, I got your text. I told the guys I had to go and I just left. Sped my way over to the church." Andy leaned on the table and really looked at Lynn.
"Are you okay? Like really?" She asked giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
Lynn sighed and shrugged, "I will be. She said a lot of hurtful things about me, about you." She shook her head and sat back in her seat. "I felt like I was nineteen again. With her and I arguing about the littlest things. The biggest thing she said was that you're a fan getting the greatest collection piece. Something to hold onto forever."
Andy scoffed, she wanted to say something but she let Lynn continue.
"You and I just happened to have a connection, a spark that just keeps growing and growing. I never thought I would feel this way again. But I do and it's stronger than ever before. You've stood by me when I was at my worst and you never gave up on me or on us. Even though you wanted to, you stayed and we worked things out. With her it was like I was walking on eggshells and I couldn't do anything right. With you it's different."
Andy smiled, "I'm gonna stop you right there. We have a lot to say and we should save it for tomorrow." Andy kissed the back of Lynn's hand.
"You're right. Wait a second, we aren't supposed to see each other the day before." Lynn said with a soft chuckle.
"When have you known for us to follow traditions?" Andy asked.
"Oh please! You and YOUR traditions! You've been doing since you were a kid." Lynn laughed.
"Touche. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. I want to keep those. But it's up to you if you don't. I know you don't do the whole church thing. But I go at least twice a year to a Catholic church." Andy said.
Lynn sighed, "I want you to keep your traditions. I support you and your Faith. I may not believe, but I'm glad you do. As for our children, I wouldn't mind bringing them. Then, when they're older they can make their own choice, and I know both of us will support their decisions."
Andy smiled, "God, I love you so much."
"I love you." Lynn smiled. They heard laughter come from another table and saw a few teenagers laughing and pointing at another table. When they looked to see where they were pointing. They saw Mila sitting by herself with her headphones on and it looked like she was writing in a notebook.
Andy and Lynn looked at each other and nodded. They stood up and picked their mugs and walked over to Mila's table. Lynn tapped her on the shoulder and the teenager looked up with wide eyes. She took off her headphones and smiled.
"Hey, can we join you?" Lynn asked and Mila nodded.
They both smiled as they sat in the both with her. Lynn next to Mila and Andy sitting across from them.
"What are you working on?" Andy asked pointing at her notebook.
"Just some sketches. I like coming here and just sitting. It's the one place I can think, besides art class." Mila said shyly.
"May I see them?" Lynn asked. At first Mila was hesitant and then finally nodded. She opened her notebook and let Lynn take a look.
"What are you two doing here? Aren't you getting married tomorrow?" Mila asked.
Andy smiled and took a sip of her hot chocolate. She cleared her throat and smiled, "We're already married. Tomorrow is just the formal ceremony. As for us being here, Rick's is my favorite place. Been coming here for years. Great food, great people, and amazing atmosphere. Had plenty of drunken nights here too." Andy finished with a chuckle.
A girl about Mila's age came up to their table. Andy recognized her from the other table that was laughing at her.
"Hi, I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt, but I'm just a huge fan of you both and I was wondering if I could get a picture with you two." She said in a shaky voice. Andy looked at Lynn and she just shrugged.
"One condition. Mila gets to be in the picture." Andy said giving Mila a wink.
"Why?" The girl asked trying to not sound rude.
"She's a friend of ours, and I don't want to be rude and leave her out of the picture." Andy told her.
"Wait, you two are friends with Mila? I find that hard to believe." The teenager said with a scoff. "Just forget it." She said rolling her eyes and walked back over to the table.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to cause any trouble." Mila said looking down at the table. Lynn put her arm around the young her and shook her head.
"Mila, it's okay. Andy was right. She didn't want to leave you out. I didn't want to leave you out of the picture either. Also your drawings are amazing! Have you thought of becoming a painter?" Lynn asked.
Mila shrugged, "I don't know. When I have a brush, or a pencil in my hand, I just have this itch to draw. Home is kind of rough, and sometimes I just need a place to escape. Right now this place is the only place."
Andy leaned against the table and smiled. She was able to catch a glimpse of one of the pages in her notebook. "May I?" She asked and Mila nodded. Andy smiled and slide the notebook over to her. She looked at the page and saw a sketch of her and Lynn with Mila in the middle. She looked up at Lynn and she smiled back at her.
"Should we tell her?" Lynn whispered.
"Up to you." Andy whispered back.
"What's going on?" Mila asked looking between the both of them.
Lynn cleared her throat and smiled.
She turned to fully look at Mila, "There's still some paperwork to do, but we were thinking about your situation and wanted to help you."
"Things pull through, you would be moving to Boston." Andy said with a smile.
"Boston? What's in Boston?"
Lynn looked at Andy and she gave her a smile and a nod. Lynn brushed a strand of hair away from Mila's face and tucked it behind her ear, "A home, a permanent one."
"Are you two saying what I think you're saying?" Mila asked.
"Like we said, we still have to file and go through the process, but we would like for you to be part of our family. How does that sound?" Andy asked with a smile.
"Would I be able to go with you on tour and stuff?" She asked hopefully.
Lynn chuckled, "If you want, but we do have to think about your education. We were actually going to talk to you about this tomorrow. But I feel like you all three of us being here was meant to be. So what do you say? Will you let us adopt you?" Lynn asked with hopeful eyes.
***********************************************************************************
"Got everything?" Lynn asked Andy as she zipped up her duffel bag.
"I think so." She said putting her hands on her hips mentally going through her checklist. They both heard laughter coming from downstairs and smiled.
"Guess they're ready to get the party started." Lynn said shaking her head.
"Jennie said she'll be here in a few minutes. Guess she wanted to get your hair done first, then she'll meet me at Michael and Brendon's place." Andy told Lynn looking at her phone.
"Glad we were able to finish the paperwork before we went our separate ways. How soon do you think she'll be with us?" Andy asked.
Lynn shrugged, "Not sure, I mean they do have to do a home check and stuff like that. I'm hoping everything will go through before Christmas."
"Well, all we can do is wait. Plus it'll give us time to set up one of the spare rooms for her. Also it's gonna be weird sleeping in the master bedroom when we finally get settled." Andy said picking up her duffel bag. She put her arm around Lynn and kissed her forehead.
"I got so used to you sleeping next to me after you've been gone. Not sure how tonight's gonna go." Lynn said resting her head on Andy's chest.
"Same, but after tonight, we'll be able to sleep in the same bed for the rest of our lives. Now, come on, I'm sure they have a great night planned for you." Andy said. She was about to walk away but Lynn stopped her.
"You're forgetting something," She said in a cheeky tone.
"Oh am I?" Andy asked with a smirk. Andy dropped her duffel bag and pulled Lynn in close. They leaned in and their lips met. It was meant to be just a simple kiss, but soon became passionate. Andy picked her picked Lynn up and she wrapped her legs around her waist.
"We don't have much time." Lynn said pulling away out of breath.
"I don't care." Andy whispered as she kicked the bedroom door closed. She now had Lynn against the wall and was about to unbutton her jeans but Lynn's hand stopped her.
"Wait, wait, wait, what about our deal?" Lynn whispered against Andy's lips. Andy rested her forehead against hers.
"You're right. I just get so lost in you."
"As do I, but tomorrow night will be amazing, I promise." Lynn said.
"Again you're right. Okay, if we must wait, we'll wait." She said with a smile and Lynn unwrapped her legs from Andy.
Once her feet touched the ground she wobbled, but Andy was there to steady her. They both laughed and Andy kissed her lips one last time. Before it got intense again Lynn pulled away.
Andy sighed and picked up her duffel bag and opened the door. Lynn took her hand and led her out. They both couldn't wait until tomorrow night.
They headed down the stairs and they could hear loud chatter coming from the living room. Andy smiled seeing everyone talking and laughing. Andy's smile widened when she saw a woman with dark blue hair and bright red lipstick.
"Jennie," Andy said as her and Lynn reached the bottom of the stairs. The woman turned around and smiled. They slowly walked up to each other and gave each other a hug. When they pulled away Jennie's fingers when through Andy's hair.
"Girl your hair is screaming to get cut." She said with a laugh and Andy nodded.
"You've been doing my hair for years, I don't trust anyone else. This is Lynn my wife. She said she wants a touch up." Andy said with a smile putting her arm around Lynn's waist.
Jennie smiled and gave her a hug as well. When the pulled away Jennie looked at Lynn's hair, "I can work my magic. Just tell me what you want and I'll do my best to make you look perfect for tomorrow."
"If Andy has faith in you and so do I. Oh, I also wanted to know if you can do the bridesmaids hair too. Is that okay?" Lynn asked Jennie and Andy looked at each other and Andy gave Jennie a wink.
"Well, it's a good thing Andy booked me all day tomorrow." She said with a smile. Lynn looked at Andy with a confused look.
"Wait, what?" Lynn asked.
"Oh look, that's Michael! I'll see you tomorrow! Bye ladies have fun! I love you! You're gonna look beautiful tomorrow!" Andy said giving Lynn a quick kiss on her lips and rushed out the front door.
"ANDREA!" Lynn yelled as she opened the door but as soon as she did Andy waved from the passenger window in Michael's car and he sped off. Lynn huffed and stepped back into the house.
"I swear every day she seems to surprise me with something." Lynn said as she closed the door.
Jennie smile and took her hand in hers, "Part of her charm. Now, come on, let's get your hair touched up."
"Actually, I only said that because I want to do something different. I want to surprise her tomorrow." Lynn said with a smile.
"I'm all yours for the next few hours, and I promise I won't tell her anything." Jennie said giving Lynn's hand a small squeeze.
Lynn let out a sigh of relief and they both walked towards the living room. Jennie asked Lynn where she wanted to set up. Lynn shrugged telling her where she felt comfortable. Jennie smile and went to gather her things.
Lynn sat on the couch and smiled at everyone. She didn't want to interrupt their conversation. She just wanted to enjoy their company. She also hoped they wouldn't be up too late. They had to be at the church around seven to get ready.
"I still can't believe she pulled that shit." Angel said bringing Lynn out of her thoughts.
"Andy took you away again, where did you go this time?" Kim asked looking at Lynn.
"She took me to Rick's. Ordered some hot chocolate and we talked." Lynn said with a small smile.
"My sister and hot chocolate," Wendy said shaking her head but smiling, "She always says it solves all her problems.
"Doesn't even matter if it's hot or cold outside, hot chocolate just seems to make things right." Shey said with a smile.
"We saw Mila." Lynn told them and everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at her.
"The girl you two are thinking about adopting?" Lauren asked and Lynn nodded.
"We heard some laughter coming from a table and there were these teenagers sitting there pointing and laughing at her at another table. We got up and joined her. She was sketching in her notebook. There was this one sketch of her, Andy, and myself. Then, one of the teenagers came up to us asking for a picture. Andy said she would take it if only Mila was in the picture." Lynn started to explain.
"Did you?" Lisa asked.
Lynn shook her head, "The girl didn't want to do it after all. Andy was trying to be polite. I mean she wanted to include Mila. I would have done the same thing. Mila apologized and we told her not to. We talked for a few more minutes and we finally asked her the question."
Everyone seemed to move closer to her and all she could do was smile.
"What did she say?!"
"Wait, so you're going through with it?!"
"Are you ready for this?!"
"What about touring?!"
"Her schooling?!"
"I thought you two were still up in the air!"
Lynn held up her hands to calm them down and was about to say something, but Jennie came into the living room, "I'm all set for ya." She said with a smile.
"Awesome! Gotta get this hair done!" Lynn told them as she stood up and followed Jennie.
"You can't leave us hanging forever!" Angel called after her.
"Watch me!" Lynn called back.
"Um, has anyone noticed she has a slight bump?" Lauren said.
"Like a baby bump?" Kim asked and Lauren nodded.
"You don't think she's....?" Wendy asked trailing off looking down the hallway.
"She could have gained some weight over the stress the last couple of months." Shey suggested.
"Could be, I don't, she's also been glowing ever since Andy came back." Angel pointed out.
"She's just happy she's back that could be it." Brittany said.
"Even if she was pregnant she would tell us." Lisa told them.
"But, she and Andy did keep their marriage a secret for a year." Kayla pointed out.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Okay, okay, so let's just wait. It could be stress and she has been eating a lot lately." Lauren told them and again they all nodded.
"Do you guys think Andy has any surprises for Lynn tomorrow?" Lisa asked.
"Knowing Andy, I'm sure she does. She's always surprising Lynn with something. Wouldn't surprise me if she had a song or a dance or something." Brittany said.
"Lynn may have something too. She asked me to call in a favor for a band. But I'm sworn to secrecy." Lisa said with a smirk.
"Are Mark and Liz coming with the girls?" Angel asked.
Lauren nodded, "They're flying in tonight. Mark had to do some stuff with the label. But they should be landing in the next few hours."
"What do you think Andy and the guys are doing tonight?" Lauren asked.
Kayla, Wendy, Shey, and Brittany looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
"Might be doing what they did when we were in Georgia." Kayla said.
"Video games, junk food, movies." Wendy said counting on her fingers.
"Don't forget roasting each other." Brittany said.
"Or teasing each other about girls." Shey said shaking her head.
"I swear Andy was a man in another life." Lisa said and they all laughed. Little did they know the guys had other plans.
******************************************************************************
"Thanks for coming." Andy said letting Becca in.
"No worries, the guys and I have been working on everything while you were gone." She said as Andy led her into the living. Michael and Brendan just finished moving everything around so they would have some room.
"I can't believe you're making me do this." Ethan said shaking his head as he stretched out a bit.
Andy chuckled, "Oh come on, you're not THAT bad of a dancer. I mean you can't be worse than Brendan here" She gave Brendan a pat on his back.
"Fuck you." He said playfully.
"Naw, I'm all good. Okay so why don't you guys show me what you've been working on." Andy said and everyone found a spot in the living room. Becca started the music and stood in front of them.
Once the music started Andy watched the dance and she smiled. She couldn't wait to see the look on Lynn's face. She recorded this song while she was on tour. She had Lynn in mind when she wrote it. Hayley helped her out with the melody, and even did some vocals on it. She had this planned with Becca for a while. They would video chat and work on the choreography.
When she got a hold of the guys she told them she wanted them in a music video but they would have to learn a dance. Michael, and Clint were able to work with Becca one one one. Everyone else would video chat. Then, the last few days they've all been meeting at night to put everything together.
The music stopped and Andy clapped her hands, "Guys that was awesome! I can't wait for everyone to see this!"
"Come on, you gotta go through it too. I have the track without the vocals. So you can sing and dance." Becca said going over to the stereo changing the track.
"Are you using a handheld mic, or a headset?" Becca asked.
"Handheld." Andy answered as she took her spot in front of the guys.
"Okay, one sec," Becca told them and she went into her bag and pulled out a toy microphone. She went over to Andy and gave it to her. Andy raised her eyebrow looking at it then back at her.
"Oh come on, you know I work with kids."
Andy nodded, "Yeah, just didn't think you would be carrying this around in your bag." Becca playfully punched Andy's shoulder and they both just laughed. Becca shook her head and hit play on the remote for the stereo.
"And, five, six, seven, eight!" Becca said and they all started to go through the dance again.
Andy started to sing and dance along to the song. They ran through the song a few more times and now they were all out of breath. Ethan was laying on his back on the floor out trying to catch his breath.
"Jeez! I'm out of shape!" He said between breaths.
"Damn, Andy, I workout but dancing like this, is just nuts!" Brian said with his hands on his knees.
Andy shook her head, using her tank top to wipe some of the sweat off of her face, "Hey, at least you guys are just dancing. I'm dancing and singing."
Alex nodded, "Very true."
Becca smiled at them, "You guys did awesome! I can't wait to see this tomorrow!" She packed up her stuff and Andy said she would walk her out. Becca gave each guy a hug and she walked towards the door with Andy.
Andy opened the door and followed Becca out of the house and walked her to her car, "Thanks again for doing this. I just wanted something memorable for the wedding."
Becca chuckled and opened the back door of her car and put her bag in the backseat, "I'm sure the ENTIRE wedding is going to be memorable." She closed the door and gave Andy a gentle squeeze on her arm.
Andy pulled in for a hug and kissed the top of her head, "You're amazing and thank you for this. It really means a lot."
They pulled away from each other and Becca smiled, "I've known you for almost thirteen years. Least I could do!" Andy smiled and opened her driver side door. Becca got in and once she was settled Andy closed the door.
She started up her car and pulled out of the driveway. Andy waved and waited until she was out of sight. She turned to go back into the house when she heard tires squeal and she turned to see a black car speed away. The windows were tinted so she couldn't see who it was. She started to get a bad feeling, but she had to shake it off.
Upon entering the house she heard things being moved around. After closing the door she saw Brandon and Michael moving the furniture back to their original spots. Andy smiled and asked if she could help but Michael told her that today she was just going to relax and everyone is going to take care of everything. He told her to go take a shower and he would order some pizza for everyone. He would send Ethan for an alcohol run along with Addy to grab some snacks for the video games they were going to play.
Andy nodded and grabbed her duffel bag and walked down the small hallway. She reached the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She turned on the light and looked at herself in the mirror. Her black eye was fading but it still there. Dr. Samson was right when she told them that all of them would have black eyes for the wedding.
Andy went to touch her right eye and winched a little. She still couldn't believe what Ross did. She shook the thought out of her head and started the water for her shower. She took off her tank top and she saw light bruising on her side. She shook her head again, she thought it would have healed up by now but she thought wrong.
She checked the water and it was just right. She took her phone out of her pocket and hit the music icon. Once the music started to play she placed her phone on the small counter and continued to get undressed. She checked the water one more time and stepped into the shower. She let the warm hit her skin and she sighed as she closed the shower curtain. Letting the warm water hit her sore muscles she let out a long sigh. Tomorrow was the big day and she couldn't wait. She smiled at the thought of Lynn walking down the aisle.
She didn't know if Lynn was going to wear a wedding dress or not. But it didn't matter. She just knew that her wife was going to look beautiful like always. She was just about to duck her head under the water when a knock came to the door.
"Hey Andy! Jennie's here and she said not to wash your hair just yet since you're getting it touched up." David said through the door.
"Saved by the knock!" She said with a laugh. "Okay I'll be out in a few." She called out and grabbed her body wash and started to just wash her body. Her hair was slightly wet but not too much. After she rinsed off she turned off the shower and opened the curtain. She stepped out and grabbed her towel to dry off.
She looked through her duffel bag finding another tank top, sports bra, boxer briefs, and her blue basketball shorts. She quickly got dressed and folded her old clothes and placed them on top of her duffel bag. She put on some deodorant and walked out of the bathroom.
She smiled seeing Jennie talking to Michael. They were talking about his hair and how he wanted it to get it cut before the wedding as well.
"Well good thing I have you today and tomorrow." Andy said with a smile and Jennie looked at her.
"That you do. I know you want to cut your hair in the morning, but how about I do it tonight, since I have to touch up your color anyway. I mean I have nine bridesmaids I have to do in the morning, plus the bride's. They all decided they wanted a trim today." She finished with a small chuckle and a shake of her head.
"That's fine. Do any of you guys want to get your haircut while we have Jennie?" Andy asked everyone and they all nodded.
"Okay, save me for last since I'll take the longest. With the color and everything." Andy suggested and Jennie agreed.
Jennie asked where she could set up and Michael suggested the bigger bathroom just down the hall. She thanked him and grabbed her trunk and started to make her way down the hallway. Andy smiled at her and she returned it.
"Once I'm set up, I'll call one of you to head back." She called out.
Andy smiled and went towards the kitchen were David was. He smiled at her and put his arm around her.
"Heard the girls had a couple of visitors earlier." He said with a concerned look.
Andy nodded, "You could say that. Alexa and Cacie were at the church while the girls were setting up."
"Is that why you left in such a hurry?" Ethan asked.
Andy nodded, "Yeah, Melissa called saying she spotted them in town. Then, I got a text from Lynn. Turns out Alexa was confused as to why Lynn would marry a fan. Much less someone who has been involved with a lot of 'scandals' lately."
"Are you serious?! I thought they finally had some sort of closure when you and Ethan were in Boston!" Brian said shaking his head.
"Well according to Cacie, Alexa was acting really weird when Lynn and I announced that we were already married. I guess Alexa wanted to be the one to marry Lynn, since they were together for two years. But here I come and we were together only ten months and we got married. But we weren't physically together for a year. That was a test to see if we could overcome the distance. People always said the first year of marriage is hard. Trust me with me being on the road it was hard." Andy said with a sigh and went to sit at the round kitchen table.
"How did they know where Lynn was anyway?" Justin asked sitting next to her.
"Apparently she still has the same representation as you guys. So word got out. Angel came to our defense though. Saying that Alexa gave up on Lynn and she found herself in the arms of another. When Lynn needed Alexa the most she wasn't there and she just ran instead of staying" Andy explained.
"That's my girl!" Brian said with a proud smile and everyone laughed.
"Michael you're up!" Jennie called and Michael stood up leaving the kitchen and walked down the hallway.
"Okay, I'm gonna make a store run. I got the list. Addy you ready?" Ethan asked him and he nodded. They told everyone they would be back soon. When they left Andy turned her attention to Brendan.
"Hey, do you know anyone that owns a black Altima?"
"Courtney at work, but she doesn't know that we moved. What year was it?" He asked her.
"Looked brand spanking new. Windows were tinted though. Like just barely legal."
"Courtney's windows aren't tinted. Why, what's wrong?" He looked at her with a worried look.
Andy sat back in her chair and crossed her arms. She let out a sigh and shrugged, "I could just be paranoid, but when I watched Becca leave a black Altima sped away. The car wasn't here when we got here. Plus we were all inside the last four hours."
"Do you think it could have been someone from the magazine again?" Alex asked leaning against the counter.
Andy shrugged, "Not sure, I mean if something does get out, just so you guys know, I gave Becca a hug and a kiss on her forehead. Her and I have been friends for thirteen years, so whatever they're gonna twist it's gonna be false yet again."
Brian waved her off, "Ah, tabloids always trying to find a scandal. But right now, a fan is upset you wouldn't take a picture with her."
Andy sat up and scoffed, "Seriously?! That didn't happen. I said she could as long as Mila was in the picture. But the girl didn't want that."
"You saw Mila today?" David asked.
Andy nodded, "After the whole Alexa thing, I took Lynn to Rick's for some hot chocolate"
"You and hot chocolate." Brandon said with a light chuckle.
Andy smiled, "Anyway. We were talking and we heard this laughter and we saw this group of teenagers laughing and pointing. Turned out they were pointing at Mila and laughing at her. So Lynn and I went to join her. She was sketching in her notebook. Which by the way Justin you and her should get together. Both of you have the same style. I'm sure she could use someone to help out."
"Looking forward to it." Justin said with a smile.
"So this girl comes up to us and ask for a picture. I said as long as Mila is in. I didn't want her to be left out. Well turned out the girl didn't like that so she told us to forget it and she left. End of story." Andy finished.
"I feel like it as fate for the three of you to see each other today." Brandon said.
Andy shrugged, "Well we did pop the question to her."
The guys looked at her with wide eyes. Just as Michael came up to them and patted Brandon on the shoulder, "Jennie's ready for you." He said. Brandon nodded and stood up. As he was leaving the kitchen Michael looked around.
"Uh, what did I miss?" He asked.
"Andy and Lynn popped the adoption question to Mila today!" Brendan said.
Michael pulled up a chair and sat down, "What did she say?!"
"Are you two sure about this?"
"It's a huge step."
"I thought you were going to foster first."
"Did you two file the paperwork already?"
"Where is she going to go to school?"
"Is she going to go on tour with us when we go? Cause that would be awesome!"
Andy laughed and held up her hands to calm them down, "Guys, guys, guys, all I can tell you is that we did file the paperwork earlier today. Now it's just the waiting game. She would have to move to Boston because that's where Lynn and I decided to settle down. We have to go through home checks and also have a room for her."
"Which room are you going to give her?" David asked.
"I don't know yet. But I was thinking of giving her my old room. Lynn and I would be moving into the master room. It's gonna be a little weird being in the master bedroom. Lot of memories in that room." Andy said with a small smile.
"Well why don't you?" Alex suggested.
"Or you can have her pick a room." Justin said.
Brandon came up to them and patted Brendan on his shoulder, "You're up bud."
"Sweet!" He said and rushed out of the kitchen.
"Where's Clint?" Andy asked looking around, "I thought he would be here today."
"Oh, he had to do the order. After that he's going home to grab some clothes and he'll be here. Shouldn't be too much longer." Michael explained and Andy nodded.
"Hey Andy we noticed Lynn gained a bit of weight. Have you noticed anything change in her diet?" Justin asked.
Andy had to think quick, "Not sure, she seems fine to me. I didn't notice anything." She couldn't wait to tell them the real reason.
"Could be the stress of the wedding. You know, last minute stuff, plus you being back, and your cooking." David said with a smile.
"This is true. Lynn could gain like a hundred pounds and Andy would still find her beautiful." Brandon said patting Andy on her back.
"Of course. I love Lynn for who she is. I don't care if she gains weight or loses weight. I'm not in love with her look. I'm in love with her heart and--"
"Stop! It's guys night, so save all the mushy stuff for tomorrow." Alex said putting up his hand.
"Okay, but wait, Michael." Andy said turning to Michael.
"You and Hayley what's up?" She asked with a smirk.
