=====
Carrie reached in her purse for the sheet of paper where she'd written the slip number. She scanned the first row as she glanced at her note. That wasn’t it, so they continued to the next one. Just as they were walking towards the second row, a man approached them.
"Miss Burleson?" he asked with a smile.
"Yes," Carrie replied, as Kelly turned to her surprised.
"Nice to meet you," he extended his hand. "I'm Joe and I'll be your captain."
"Nice meeting you too, Joe. Thanks," she shook his hand. "Just call me Carrie. And this," she motioned to Kelly, "Is my friend, Kelly."
"Hi," the Texan greeted him and shook his hand.
"Oh, wow...you're....her...." Both girls shifted uncomfortably, not expecting Kelly to be recognized.
Kelly smiled politely. "Yeah. But, uh, if you don't mind. I'm enjoying a day off, nothing special."
"Sure, sure," he replied apologetically when he realized he was acting like a fan. "Do you need me to carry that," he asked motioning to Kelly's bags.
"Nah, Thanks, I'm fine."
"Well, if you ladies will follow me," he stepped in front of them as he guided them to the slip. When they reached it, both girls looked in awe at the 55' yacht.
"Oh, wow," Kelly marveled. "This is so gorgeous!"
"Yeah," Carrie agreed, her eyes wide. "Remind me to thank the guys for finding it."
Joe stepped aboard and reached his hand to help them up the step. "Welcome aboard the Black Pearl. Would you ladies like a tour?"
Both girls looked at each other and nodded. This was going to be a very exciting day.
"Well," he motioned around him. "This is the stern. It's a great spot to sit and relax, especially if you want to do some fishing. Over here we have the salon, if you want a break from the sun."
Carrie made a face. "Uh, I’m not one for fishing so I don't think we'll be doing lots of that."
Joe laughed. "Very well. Well, there is a small fridge under this cabinet, if you'd like a drink." He walked towards the cockpit. "Here's where I'll be. Down there is the galley and the staterooms," he motioned at the stairs. "If you're up for sunbathing, there are some towels and you can lay on the bow."
"Thanks," Kelly answered.
"Do you ladies need anything before we set off?"
"No," Carrie smiled. "I think we're good. We'll do some exploring below deck."
"As you wish. Just let me know if you need anything. I'll take us out and drop anchor for the day. Then, unless I'm needed I'll take my kayak and go for my daily workout."
"Not a problem," Carrie smiled politely. "I don't foresee us needing anything."
"Yeah," Kelly chimed in. "Come on," she grabbed Carrie's hand. "Let's check out below deck!"
Carrie laughed. "You sound like a five year old."
"Well, I've never been on a boat this big."
"Okay," Carrie allowed herself to be practically pulled down the stairs. As they reached the bottom of the stairs, they came to the galley. Both noticed the beautiful mahogany that made up the walls. Down the hall, they found the guest stateroom. It had two single beds and was decorated in blue.
"Oh, how cute," Kelly smiled. "Looks like it's a kids’ room."
Carrie giggled. "Yeah, the beds are so tiny."
“Come on!” Kelly practically dragged her out of the room to keep exploring. "Well, what do we have here," the Texan smirked as they continued and came upon the door to master stateroom.
"Oh, I don't know," Carrie winked as Kelly opened the door.
"Wow," the Texan sighed, taking in the scene. "This is amazing."
"Yeah. I love the cream contrast with the mahogany."
"Come on," Kelly took her hand and tossed her bags on the floor as she closed the door. Carrie opened another door to reveal the tiny bathroom.
“Wow, that’s like almost plane-sized.”
Kelly giggled. “You’re right. So…” she came up behind Carrie and wrapped her arms around her waist. “Is there a mile-high club at sea?”
Carrie leaned back into the embrace. “You know, I’m not sure…” Kelly moved the blonde hair away from Carrie’s neck and placed a lingering kiss.
“Well,” she sighed. “You sure don’t waste any time,” she turned in Kelly’s embrace and closed the distance between their lips.
She suddenly pulled back. “Ok, so what do you want to do?”
Kelly wiggled her eyebrows. “Hmm, I can think of something…”
“You know,” Carrie laughed. “I had no idea you were such a…um…”
Kelly winked. “What?”
“Nympho.”
Kelly’s jaw dropped. “I am not,” she pouted. “I just, well, had a really, really great time last night.”
Carrie blushed slightly. “Me too.”
“But I didn’t-“
Carrie placed her finger over Kelly’s lips. “Shhh. In due time.” She replaced her finger with her lips as Kelly leaned into her.
“Come on,” the blonde added when they pulled apart. “Let’s go back on deck.”
Kelly pouted. “But…”
“I just want to see the harbor, you know,” Carrie gave her a sad smile.
“Ugh. This is so not going to ever be fair,“ Kelly relented.
“Meaning,” the blonde perked up.
“If you give me that look, I don’t think I could deny you anything.”
Carrie giggled. “Duly noted.”
“Now, wait a minute,” Kelly put her hand up. “That’s just not right.”
“Please?”
Kelly sighed. “Alright, but you won’t push me overboard, will you?”
“Don’t be such a baby,” Carrie took the Texan’s hand. “I wouldn’t do that.”
Kelly breathed a sigh of relief. She knew she was being silly. “Good.”
“Come on,” Carrie opened the door as Kelly reached for her guitar. They made their way back up the stairs to the salon.
Kelly sat on the sofa while Carrie walked up to the fridge. She opened the door and knelt to see what was inside. “Perfect,” she smiled.
“What’s that,” Kelly asked as she saw the dock getting smaller in the distance.
“Hold on,” Carrie answered as she opened a cupboard and found two Champaign classes. She took them and the bottle to the spot next to Kelly.
“Surprise,” she showed her hand.
“Ooh,” Kelly smiled. “You know, you’re really setting a high bar.”
“Ha. Well, everyone deserves to be spoiled every once in a while.”
The Texan’s smile grew bigger. “I agree…and I can’t wait to spoil you too.”
“You will.” The blonde opened the Champaign bottle, poured a glass and handed it to Kelly.
Kelly raised her glass as Carrie finished pouring one for herself. “A toast,” she smile.
“Sure,” Carrie sat back and turned to the Texan.
“To us…and to this adventure we’re on. I can’t wait to see where it leads. Cheers.”
Carrie smiled. “Cheers,” she added as their glasses clinked.
The girls sat back taking in the view before them. They were passing under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and could see the skyline and the Opera House.
“Isn’t it beautiful,” Carrie asked taking a sip of her glass.
“It sure is,” Kelly flashed a smile. “Thanks for this. So how did you come up with this idea?”
“Well, I was being selfish. I wanted to do something that was just for us. And I figured we could take in some of the sights without having to deal with any unwanted attention.”
“Yeah,” Kelly nudged her. “You just want me all to yourself, don’t cha?”
“There might be some of that too,” the blonde placed her hand on Kelly’s thigh.
"So," Kelly place her hand over Carrie's. "Miss Burleson?"
Carrie laughed. "Well, part of the plan to keep this on the D.L."
"D.L?" Kelly raised an eyebrow. "How ghetto of you."
"Shut up," Carrie shoved her playfully.
They sat in silence next to each other for a while, taking the view, enjoying each other’s company and just being together.
They were about a mile from the harbor when Joe finally stopped. He came to them to ask. “So, ladies, is this a good spot for you?”
“Yeah,” Carrie looked to the shore. ”Here’s fine.”
“Good. Well, I’ve dropped anchor and the engine is off. Do you need anything?”
“No, we’re good,” Kelly smiled.
“Will you be working on your music,” Joe asked as he motioned to the guitar at Kelly’ feet.
“Maybe…”
“Awesome,” Joe smiled. “Sorry, I don’t mean to sound like a fan.”
“Not a problem. Glad you enjoy my music.”
“Well, ladies,” Joe walked towards the stern. “Since I’m not needed, I’ll be going kayaking.”
“Is that safe,” Kelly asked, her eyes growing wide.
“Not to worry. Anchor is secure, so is the back up. The engine is off, and I should be back in about an hour. Just to be on the safe side, I’ve got a radio with me and you can patch to it from the cockpit. I’ve left instructions there in case of an emergency.”
Carrie smiled. “See, all taken care of.”
Kelly relaxed. “Good. Well, enjoy!”
“Thanks, ladies,” Joe answered over his shoulder as he tossed his kayak overboard and jumped in.
Kelly turned to Carrie. “Ok, so finally we’re alone.”
“Yup,” Carrie grinned innocently.
