A/N: Thanks for the correction in the last chapter. That's what happens when I write chapters at 4am lol.
A/N 2: Since there's no option to reply in comments area I thought I'd respond to one here. I don't like made up characters in fan-fic either, unless they serve a proper purpose. I think in this kind of story it's impossible not to have original characters, considering this takes place before the band was formed. Otherwise the whole story would just be smut (something I don't like, I need plot WITH smut lol). Thanks for the feedback, it helps =)

STEFAN.
He didn’t want Brian to be here, afraid he might say something. “You should go.”
Seeing the hurt look on the small boy’s face broke his heart. But Stef knew it was for his own good.
“What?” he asked. “But… you’ve been hurt! I… I know I yelled at you and I’m sorry… but I was.. I…”
“What’s wrong?” Courtney asked.
Stef didn’t know what to say. He didn’t want to hurt his friend’s feelings, but it was important he leave. “Brian, I…”
“What happened to you? Stef, we’re worried!”
“Nothing! I don’t know, I just woke up here and… I don’t know!” Stef wasn’t prepared for this. He knew if Brian didn’t leave, he’d end up telling him everything. And that couldn’t happen. “Please… leave?”
Brian shook his head in disgust and stormed out.
Courtney looked at him, surprised. “Good work there. What was that about?”
“He… nothing.” Stef turned over to face the wall.
“No Stef, what’s going on?” the red head challenged, switching sides of the bed.
“I…”
“And don’t say you don’t know! Brian came here in the middle of the night because he cares about you!”
“I didn’t ask him to come…” Stefan sulked. “And I didn’t ask you to call him.”
Courtney was clearly taken aback. Stef knew it was uncalled for but neither of them understood the seriousness of what was going on and that it was far greater than just him.
“Should I go too?”
No, that’s not what he wanted. “Courtney I… I’m sorry it’s just…”
“Stop treating me like an idiot, Stef. I know you know what happened to you. You know exactly what happened. What I don’t know is why you think it’s ok to be a jerk to your friend and to lie to me.”
“Because I’m scared!” he yelled, far louder than intended.
Courtney frowned. “Yes, and? That’s what we are here for! Oh I’m sorry, Brian got sent home, that’s what I’M here for!”
“I can’t tell you.”
“Then why am I here?” the red head threw up his arms and left, leaving Stef lying in the bed, cursing himself for screwing everything up. As usual.
BRIAN.
Confused and hurt, Brian walked home. The whole evening had been a massive failure. His only two friends in the world had both kicked him out. He felt so unwanted.
“Hey, wait!” Yelled a voice from behind him. Turning around, he saw Courtney running after him.
“ What do you want?” he kept walking.
“Just… nothing. He’s being a bit of a-“
“Prick?”
The red head rolled his eyes. “You could say that. I want to be there for him but he’s obviously hiding something and… I don’t get it.”
“Can I ask you something? What do you think happened?” Brian was afraid of the answer, anticipating what the reply would be.
“You know him better than I do.” Courtney shrugged. “I have my suspicions though. You wouldn’t like it though.”
There it was.
“Michael isn’t like that.” Brian said prematurely.
“Told you.”
“Anyway,” he was feeling uneasy at where this was going. “why would he hurt Stef? No… no it’s not possible.”
“Your nervous defensiveness suggests that you do in fact consider it’s a
possibility.” Courtney pointed out.
“What? Just… what are you on about?”
Courtney blushed. “Sorry, it’s my inner scientist. Your body language suggests that-“
“Hey! Snap out of it. Wait, why have you stopped?” They were standing in the middle of town in the pitch black darkness, an area Brian didn’t recognize.
“Oh, this is my place. Do… I’ll give you a ride home.”
***
Courtney was clearly tired, his driving was truly terrifying. By the time they finally arrived at Brian’s home, he was clinging to the door for dear life. “Who taught you to drive?!” he asked, getting out of the car.
“My brother,” Courtney said, joining him. “he’s uh… a bit of a loser.”
“Ah well… thanks for the lift.” Brian said awkwardly.
“Can I use your bathroom?” the red head asked. “I know it’s late and all but-“
Brian started unlocking the front door. “Yeah, sure. Up the stairs to the left.”
Entering his bedroom, he tore the note off the door. Ugh, Stef. What was wrong with him? Shuffling through the chest at the end of his bed, Brian found what he was looking for. Ah vodka, the solution to all life’s little problems.
Courtney appeared in the doorway, looking in awe around Brian’s bedroom. “Wow, you are crazy tidy.” He said, inspecting the colour coded make-up on the dresser.
Brian laughed. “You should see Stef’s room! It looks like… I don’t know what. Something… untidy.” He took a swig from the bottle, collapsing back on the bed. “Want some?” he asked, offering the clear liquid to Courtney.
“I have to drive home!”
“Pffft, you’re not going home. The only reason we made it here in one piece is because I yelled out “STOP” every time we came to a red light. Crash on the couch or you won’t make it back alive.”
Courtney laughed, taking the bottle and joining him. “Good thing I don’t have to work tomorrow… today.”
“What do you do?” Brian asked, taking back the bottle.
“Oh you know… astrophysicist stuff. I’m working with some engineers to develop a more advanced robot to send to Mars.”
“You’re the funkiest scientist I’ve ever met.” Laughed Brian, poking one of Courtney’s lip rings.
***
An hour, and half a litre of vodka later, Brian was having trouble staying awake. “Y.. you know w-hat you sh-should do?!” he slurred, sitting up. “Fuck that r..r..robot! Do an ex…pr…ment to see if y-you can grow ‘tatoes o-on Mars!”
Courtney giggled, he too was well and truly drunk. “’Tatoes?”
“Yesh! P…tatoes! So… so we c-can make v-vodka wi…th the…with the… aliens!”
“We s-should c-c-call Shtef a..and see if HE wa-nts some v-vodka!”
Brian frowned, dropping the empty bottle on the floor. “Don’t b-be stupid, he’s i-in hos…hos…pital!”
“Oh,” Courtney looked upset, almost as though he may cry. “but, I… I miss him!”
Crawling over to the other side of the bed, Brian grabbed the red head by his waist and hugged him. “P-pret..end I’m Sht-ef… I… I c-an b..be tall an…d blonde!”
Courtney laughed, resting his head on Brian’s shoulder. “There’s n-nothing t-tall or b-blonde about chu!”
“Use y-your im-gination! S… see I c-c-an pretend y...you’re Michael!” Brian planted a hard kiss on Courtney’s lips, pushing his rings aside.
“N-no. That does-doesn’t f-f-feel right. You’re not Shtef. Oh God I’m drunk.”
“Y… yes I am!” Brian giggled. “I… I’m everyone!”
Courtney looked into his green eyes, squinting through his glasses.
COURTNEY AND BRIAN.
They locked lips again, Courtney couldn’t help but notice how different Brian tasted. It could have been the alcohol, but was still wrong.
Brian, who was usually up for just about anything, was not enjoying himself.
Courtney was gorgeous, and smart, and lovely, but something was wrong. And yet, he didn’t want to… no… couldn’t, stop. “I like your lip rings,” he whispered. “they feel… funny.”
“I get that a lot.” He ran his hand down Brian’s back, feeling his warm skin through his shirt. He was so tiny; so beautiful. “B-B- ian… I feel sick.” Courtney groaned.
“I can fix that… maybe.” Brian clumsily put his hand down the older boy’s pants.
Courtney shuddered at the sudden intrusion. His body awkwardly tensing. “That, uh…”
The red head reveled in the feeling of having such delicate, soft hands holding him, rubbing him. But it didn’t feel right. As beautiful as Brian was, he wasn’t who he wanted. “B….B… I’m drunk.. y.. you’re drunk it’s… not… r-right.”
“I k-know.” Brian groaned. “You… are… r-r-eally hot though.”
Courtney smiled, and collapsed on the floor.
***
Brian woke up early with a terrible headache. Rolling over and squinting his eyes, he saw the blurry outline of Courtney asleep on the floor, limbs spread out all over the place. Groaning and clutching his stomach, the black haired boy got up and pulled on some clothes, kicking the empty vodka bottle aside. It was one o’clock in the afternoon.
“Brian?” a voice called from outside. It was his father. “Brian are you up? Your friend Steve.. uh sorry, Stefan is here.”
What? Why… oh God this wasn’t a good time. “Uhh, yeah send him up.” The room was a mess. Rather than stick to his usual tidiness, Brian had thrown his clothes from the previous night on the floor, along with Courtney’s. They both looked terrible. “Hey! Courtney!” Brian kicked the red head lightly. “Get up, Stef’s here!”
Courtney groaned and rubbed his eyes. “Who’s here?” he moaned.
“Stef’s here! Put some clothes on!”
Brian opened the door, as Courtney frantically tugged on his jeans. “S-Stef? What are you doing here?”
Stefan walked in the room urgently. “Look, I feel bad about yesterday. I’m sorry.”
“No, not that, why are you out of hospital!? You shouldn’t be here, or anywhere!”
“I’m feeling… ok” Stef cringed. “I… Courtney?”
Courtney was feeling around for his glasses. His hair a mess, his eyes drooped, clothes creased and nail polish chipped. “Ooh, morning, afternoon… uh hi.” He muttered, adjusting to the light.
“Why are you here?”
“He dropped me home last night,” Brian jumped in. “and decided it was best if he stayed.”
“And… get drunk?” Stef raised an eyebrow.
The boys looked around, realizing where Stef was going. “Ooh, no, no nothing like that!” Courtney exclaimed. “I know this looks kinda bad, but nothing happened.”
Brian frowned. For some reason he felt like something had happened, but his memory was hazy. No, he must be imaginging it.
“We just came back here, drank a lot and crashed.”
“Is… it my fault?” the blonde asked quietly.
“Yes.” The oldest boy answered before Brian had a chance. “You were being a jerk yesterday and we were pissed off.”
“Courtney… that’s a bit harsh.”
“No, I want to know what’s wrong wit-“
“It was Michael!” Stef cried out. “It was… Michael.”
Brian was shocked, though deep down he knew he shouldn’t be. “N… no.” he muttered.
“Yes, Brian. Michael tied me up, beat me, cut me and raped me. He told me that if I told he’d hurt you, THAT’S why I didn’t want to tell you!” he had tears in his eyes.
“He… he did?” Courtney took Stef in his arms, trying to avoid his scarred middle.
“S-Stef, you should have told us straight away!”
Brian backed up against the door, closing it. How could Michael, HIS Michael, do something like that. “S… Stef, I… don’t know. I’ve never seen Michael be violent or anything before…”
“Oh yeah?” Courtney challenged, facing him. “How did you get those rope burns?”
“T-that’s different!” The black haired boy stuttered, rubbing his wrists. “It’s not like I said no…”
“Are you saying you don’t believe me?” Stef asked, sounding hurt.
“Not, exactly. I just… I don’t know.” Head in hands, Brian collapsed on his messy bed. “It’s just…”
“Brian, you had to know he was a bit…”
“I do! I did! I know… it’s just… with me he’s so… perfect.” He sighed. “I’m sorry…”
“I know, I don’t want to hurt you… again. That’s why I didn’t want to say.”
STEFAN.
Courtney grabbed his coat and headed for the door.
“W- where are you going?” Stef asked.
“To kick the crap out of Michael.”
“No! Then he’ll know I told!”
“And you’re terribly hung over.” Brian pointed out.
“I don’t care.”
Courtney slammed the door.
