Chapter 17: Reception/Surprise 2
Ethan shook his head when he saw Michael rush up to him adjusting his suit jacket. Michael fixed his hair and smiled when he got settled.
"You got a little lipstick right there bud." Ethan said gesturing to Michael's lip.
He laughed as he watched Michael quickly try to rub off the lipstick. They all heard a door slam and saw Hayley rushing away from the room.
Addy laughed and patted Michael on his back, "She really couldn't wait until later."
"Dude, she fucking jumped me as soon as we got here! If Ethan hadn't gotten that phone call from Lynn, I wouldn't be up here waiting for them. But we haven't slept together yet. I mean she's still kind of coming off her divorce." He told them finishing with a sigh.
"But you're loving it though." Brandon said with a smile.
Michael shrugged, "I love our conversations, when we hang out, I'm loving all that stuff. But being intimate with her is nerve wracking. We're not even together officially."
"Do what Andy does. Court her and then ask her out." Kayla said.
"Aren't you kind of doing that already?" Brittany asked.
"In a way. I mean, we're taking it slow. I don't want her to think I'm with her just because I'm a fan. I want to be with her to be with her. I want to be with Hayley for who she is. Not because she's the lead singer of a band." Michael said as they saw Andy's truck pull up.
"Why don't you talk to Lynn and Andy about it? Andy was feeling the same way you are right now. But look at them now." Brian said watching Andy help Lynn out of her truck.
"We'll talk about that later. Everyone's waiting for us. I'll let Melissa know they're here." Shey said and rushed inside.
Andy and Lynn made their way up to the wedding party and smiled at everyone. They all hugged the couple and Andy looked at Michael. She raised her eyebrow and then gave him a smirk.
"Interesting cologne you got there bud." She told him with a wink. He looked at her with a shocked expression. The doors opened and everyone started to pair off like they did at the wedding.
"We'll talk later." Andy whispered to Michael and he nodded. Once they all got in line they heard excited chatter and light music playing as they walked up the stairs to the main area. Andy kissed the back of Lynn's hand and they both smiled.
"Are you ready to have some fun?" Lynn asked.
"Fun? What's fun? I have no idea what you're talking about." Andy laughed as Lynn playfully punched her in the arm.
"What am I going to do with you?"
Andy shrugged, "You married me, so you're stuck with me. Guess you're just going to have to deal with me for the rest of our lives." She finished with a smile.
"And I wouldn't have it any other way."
They leaned in and just as their lips were about to meet they heard Cody's booming voice.
"I swear one day we won't be interrupted as much." Andy said with a sigh and Lynn just giggled.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! Please help me welcome the new, well kind of, married couple. Mrs. and Mrs. Andrea Michelle Hill and Lyndsey Gunnlfusen-Hill!" Cody announced as the crowd erupted into loud cheers and applause. The spotlight was now on them as they walked into the area arm in arm. They were smiling the entire time. Stopping every now and then to give hugs or handshakes to friends and family.
They reached the table and Andy helped Lynn sit down. Servers were making their way around the tables to ask what people wanted to eat. The DJ was playing music and everyone was chatting away. Andy turned to Ethan and smiled. She too his hand in hers and he turned to her.
"I love you. Thank you for standing up with me today."
He smiled and kissed the back of her hand, "I love you and I wouldn't have missed this for the world. Who would have thought the both of us would have settled down."
Andy chuckled and looked over at Lynn. She was talking excitedly with Angel and Lauren. They were getting a closer look at her ring. Andy turned her attention back to Ethan and smiled.
"Looks like you're not gonna get rid of me since I'll be moving to Boston."
"Damn! Just when I thought I could pass you off!"
Andy playfully hit his arm. They laughed and continued to talk about their future plans. Everyone was laughing, eating, chatting, having a good time. Kelly was running around taking pictures and Andy caught her attention. She waved Kelly over and she rushed up to the table. Andy motioned for her to come around. She stood up and Kelly met her. Andy smiled and put her hands gently on her arms.
"You sit down and eat something. Take a small break. Here. Catch up with Lynn. Give me your camera and I'll take some pictures. I'm not taking no for an answer." Andy pulled out her chair and Kelly was trying to tell her something but Andy held up her hand.
Kelly smiled and gave her camera to Andy. She sat down and Andy waved over a server. She told the young man to let Kelly have whatever she wanted. He smiled and nodded. He bent down to talk to Kelly and Andy went over to Lynn. She whispered in her ear and Lynn gave her a look, but then gave her a small kiss. She gently touched Andy's cheek and nodded. Andy stood up and walked away from the table and started to take pictures with Kelly's camera.
She smiled coming up to a table and taking a picture. She was about to turn away when she heard her name being called. She turned around and saw Trey rushing up to her.
"Hey there's someone at the door claiming they know you and that they were invited."
"Everyone that we know is here. Everyone RSVP'ed. My mom and Lynn's mom said so."
"Wanna come take a quick look?"
Andy nodded and she followed Trey to the stairs. She was about half way down when she stopped. "Trey!" She called out to him.
He was a few steps ahead of her and he stopped and turned around to look at her, "Okay, I take it she wasn't invited."
"Hold on!" Andy reached into her pocket and pulled out her wallet. She looked through it and found the card she needed. She gave it to Trey, "Call this number give them my name. Tell them that she's here. When you get off the phone get Cody or Brendan. Stay with her until these people show up."
"Okay, one question. If they ask for a name who do I say it is?"
Andy shook her head, "Just tell them she's in violation of me and Lynn. They'll know."
"Got it!" Trey said and he took out his cell phone and called the number.Andy waited until he got off his phone so she could get the card back. After a few moments he hung up and gave her the card back and they both started to back up the stairs.
"Find Cody or Brendan as soon as possible!" Andy told Trey as they turned the corner the crowd erupted into singing Happy Birthday to Andy.
Andy stopped in her tracks and looked around at everyone singing. She forgot all about her birthday. Serenity and Dr. Samson each took one of Andy's arms and started to lead her towards the dance floor.
There stood Lynn with a smile as Antony and Chris came out with a cake that read "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA" There were candles lit and Lynn took Andy's hand in hers. Kelly rushed up to her and took her camera back. After everyone was done singing Lynn whispered in Andy's ear to make a wish.
Andy closed her eyes for a moment. She opened them and she blew out the candles and everyone cheered. She turned to Lynn and they gave each other a small kiss. Alex came up to her and gave her a microphone, "I think they may want to hear a speech." He told her with a wink.
Andy cleared her throat and Lynn gave her hand a gentle squeeze. Andy turned to her and smiled. She kissed her forehead and turned her attention back to the crowd. She smiled and looked around for a moment and then began to speak.
"Thank you everyone. I really did forget my birthday. Again."
"Not surprised!"
"SHUT UP ETHAN!" Most of the crowd shouted and everyone laughed.
Andy shook her head and she continued to speak, "Lynn and I would like to thank everyone for not only celebrating our first year anniversary as a married couple. But also just being able to be here to enjoy this time with us. The past year has been a little tough on us. With me being on the road and her planning this beautiful, and amazing wedding. Also keeping this secret from most of you was really hard, but we had our reasons. So thank you all so much for understanding."
The crowd applauded as Andy looked at Lynn and gave her the microphone. She whispered in Lynn's ear and she nodded. Andy left the stage for a brief moment and returned with Mila. Lynn smiled and gave the young teen a hug. Lynn cleared her throat and started to speak.
"Most of our close friends already know, but Andrea and I have decided to start a family. We actually started sooner than we thought. Everyone this is Mila, we have filed to adopt her. When we went to her old high school we met Mila and there was this connection between the three of us. We also found out she was in and out of foster care. So we took matters into our own hands and filed yesterday. No matter what happens we want Mila to be a part of our family and we can't wait to start a new adventure with her." Lynn turned to Mila and gave her another hug.
Andy smiled and kissed the top of Mila's head. Lynn looked at her wife and she nodded. She let out a sigh a smile and spoke once more.
"Now, we have another surprise for everyone that we've been keeping a secret since August." Lynn started to say as Andy put a comforting hand on her lower back.
Lynn turned to main table and smiled at Angel and Brian, "Angel, Brian, two weeks before your wedding I got some news. What I'm about to say will answer a lot of your questions."
Andy bent down and looked at Mila, "What she's about to say doesn't change the fact that we want you to be part of our family. Okay?"
Mila smiled and nodded, "Okay. I hope everything works out with the adoption."
Andy nodded and gave her a wink, "Me too kiddo. Me too." Andy straightened up and held out her hand to take. Mila took her hand and held on tight.
Lynn turned back to Mila and Andy and walked over to them and took Mila's other hand. She looked at Andy who gave her a wink and she blushed. She gave the microphone back to Andy. She looked at the crowd and smiled.
"So, with that being said." Andy started to say and they all turned to the main table, and looked at the wedding party.
"I have eight Godmothers. Now, that's a lot, but Lynn and I were wondering if ALL of you up there would be Godparents not only to Mila, but also to a couple of new additions to our growing family in May." Andy said and everyone at the table looked at them with wide eyes.
"Wait, I'm sorry! Lynn are you....?!" Angel trailed off and Lynn nodded.
"May 21st." Andy said with a smile.
Before Andy could tell them the names they picked out the entire wedding party rushed up to them. Andy quickly moved Mila out of the way so she wouldn't get crushed. Mila held onto Andy's hand tighter. She looked down at Mila and smiled, "I got you don't worry."
The crowd was cheering and the wedding party surrounded Lynn. Andy smiled as she watched the interaction. She turned back to the crowd and spoke into the microphone.
"For those of you that are wondering. We don't know what we are having yet but we do know is there were two heartbeats. We have names picked out already." Andy said and the crowd cheered.
"Thank you all for listening now let's have some fun!" She turned to the DJ and he gave her a thumbs up and started to play some music.
Andy looked at Mila, "If you're up for it, there's some people I would like you to meet. Is that okay?"
"I don't know. All of this is happening at once." She told her.
Andy nodded, she understood where she was coming from. They needed a quiet place to talk so she looked around. "Come on." She started to lead Mila towards the kitchen. Andy found a small spot where they could talk.
"You don't have to meet anyone today if you don't want to. You don't even have to stay all night." Andy told her.
Mila nodded, "Thank you. I guess I just have to get used to having famous parents."
Andy chuckled, "We're not famous. We're just regular people living out our dreams. I've been meaning to ask you. Once Lynn and I get everything settled in Boston, do you want to pick out your room, or do you want us to pick one out for you?"
"How soon do you think I'll be with you?" Mila asked nervously.
Andy shrugged and put her hands in her pockets, "I'm not sure. This is all new to us. But from what I've read it for someone your age it takes about nine months to a year. We're hoping sooner though. Since we filed in this state, we're not sure if we have to file again in Massachusetts."
"Can you take me with you when you leave Virginia?"
Andy could hear something in her voice and she started to grow some concern, "I'm not sure. Mila what's going on? Is everything okay?"
Lynn came into the kitchen and found them. The smile she had disappeared when she saw the look on their faces.
"Hey is everything okay?" She asked with concern in her voice.
Mila shook her head. Andy and Lynn noticed tears were coming down her face. Andy knelt down and gently put her hands on her arms, "Hey, hey, hey, it's okay. You don't have to tell us." She pulled her into a hug, "We're right here. We're not going anywhere." She whispered.
Lynn knelt down next to Andy and started to rub Mila's back. That's when Mila gave out a little wince. She jerked away from Andy, surprising both of them.
"Are you okay?" Lynn asked and Mila started to cry again.
Andy looked at Lynn, "Why don't you take a look at Mila? One of us has to be out there. Let me know what's going on." She kissed Lynn's forehead and stood up. Before she walked out of the kitchen she turned back to look at her wife and her future daughter. She saw Mila nodding as Lynn was saying something to her. Lynn stood up and took Mila's hand.
They came up to Andy and Lynn leaned in to whisper in her ear, "I'm gonna take a look at her back in the restroom. I think we might have to call someone." Andy just nodded and watched as the two left the kitchen. She watched as they disappeared into the crowd.
Sighing she made her way up to the dance floor and smiled. She saw Trevor run up to her and she picked him up and put him on her shoulders. She laughed holding his hands as she started to dance around with her friends and family.
She looked over at the stage and saw Terry and Cam setting it up. She was about to make her way up there to ask why they were setting up the stage, but she felt someone put their hand on her back. She turned and saw Ethan. She smiled and the two started to dance together. Trevor was having so much fun on Andy's shoulders. It wasn't long until all the kids started to come up onto the dance floor to join the fun.
Andy felt Trevor tap her twice on the top of her head. That was his signal for wanting to get down. She took him off her shoulders and he ran to join the other kids. She watched him for a moment then turned back to Ethan. He indicated for her to follow him and she did.
He stood by the bar and she joined him. He asked the bartender for a beer and Andy asked for an orange juice.
"Not drinking?" Ethan asked.
Andy shook her head, "I made a deal with Lynn. After we made the announcement if she couldn't drink, I'm not going to drink."
Ethan nodded and then looked at his best friend really close, "I'm so happy for you both! I can't believe you're going to be a mom!" He pulled her in for a tight hug and she laughed hugging him back.
"Well better get used to Uncle Ethan." She said as they pulled away.
"Ever need a babysitter Uncle Ethan and Uncle Alex to the rescue." He said putting a hand on her shoulder. Andy raised her glass of orange juice and Ethan raised his beer bottle. They touched their drinks and took a sip.
"So when's the big move?" Ethan asked.
Andy shrugged a little, "We're actually gonna head up there in a couple of days. Get everything set up in the house. Gotta pick a room for the nursery, also Mila's room. Then, we're coming back for mom's birthday. After that spend about three weeks in Okinawa with Mila. Also kind of a second honeymoon for Lynn and I. Should be back before Thanksgiving. Which I believe Lynn's parents are coming down here for."
"Then, back to Boston for Christmas and New Years." Ethan said with a chuckle and Andy nodded.
"Pretty much. Just when I thought I was done with traveling for a while. Plus Lynn says the album is almost finished. With Brian back all they have to do is finish up some tracks and do some editing. But we're worried about their new tour. Dunno if it's gonna happen before or after she has the babies." Andy said taking a sip of her orange juice.
"I can't believe you made the entire wedding party Godparents." Ethan said with a chuckle.
Andy smiled and looked around, "Well we just couldn't pick. Each one of you have been part of lives in some way or another. Plus we know y'all are gonna spoil the shit out of them."
Ethan laughed and put his hand on her shoulder, "Damn straight we are."
"Okay serious talk though." Andy said turning towards the bar and leaned against it. Ethan looked at her furrowing his eyebrows.
"What's up?"
Andy cleared her throat and looked at him, "This adoption goes through with Mila, I want her to be part of this family. I don't want her to feel any different."
Ethan nodded, "I feel you, and I understand. I won't let her feel any different. I mean I was adopted, so I know the feeling. Maybe her and I can have a little heart to heart when she gets comfortable around everyone."
"I'm sure she'd like that." She smiled, putting a hand on his shoulder.
Ethan was about to say something but someone tapped him on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Lynn. He smiled at her and gave her a hug. He let her go giving her a kiss on her forehead and he walked away.
Lynn put a gentle hand on Andy's back and she looked up at her. She smiled and took her hand in hers, "How's Mila?"
Lynn sighed, "We need to talk. Come on." She took Andy's hand and led her towards a small corner where they could talk without anyone interrupting them.
"Honey, what's going on?" Andy asked with concern.
Lynn sighed and held Andy's hand tight, "I just got off the phone with Mila's social worker. I asked him if we could have guardianship of her until the adoption goes through. She's not going back to that foster home tonight. I made sure of it."
"Okay, how bad is it?"
"Andrea, Mila's being abused."
Andy looked at her wife then out into the crowd looking for Mila, "Where is she?"
"She's with Brian and Lisa. She's fine. But we can't let her stay there another night."
Andy nodded, "Okay, okay, okay. What did her social worker say? Can we or someone take her tonight? Are we able to get her things?"
Lynn nodded, "We are tonight after the reception. We just have to call him before we leave and he'll have a police with him. We also have to sign some papers. But the hard part is for the foster parents to sign over guardianship. But with police being there maybe they can persuade them."
"True, okay well I guess you and I can hold off our bedroom activities for a while."
"Um, I already talked to Wendy and Shey, Mila's going to be staying at their place tonight. I know I sound selfish, but I want you all to myself for a little while." Lynn said closing in on Andy.
"You just look so amazing in that suite, I actually can't wait to rip it off of you." Lynn whispered. Andy started to blush and she cleared her throat. She felt Lynn kiss the side of her neck. She clenched her jaw and closed her eyes. She knew what her wife was trying to do. But she had to keep calm. She sucked in a breath when she felt Lynn gently bite down on her neck.
Andy had to grab the wall. She opened her eyes and Lynn was gone. She looked out into the crowd and couldn't spot her. She cleared her throat and straightened out her tie, suit jacket, and shirt. She let out a deep breath and rejoined the crowd. Her dad came up to her and told her it was time for the speeches. She nodded and joined Lynn at the main table.
She sat down next to her and smiled. She leaned in and whispered something in Lynn's ear. Lynn's eyes went wide and she started to really blush. Under the table Andy discreetly started to slowly pull up Lynn's dress until she was able to touch Lynn's bare thigh. She started to slowly rub her fingers gently across.
Lynn shifted in her chair and cleared her throat. She took a quick sip of her water and Andy tried to hide her smirk. DJ Redman gave Angel a microphone and she stood before Andy and Lynn and smiled. Under the table Lynn's hand covered Andy's and she held it tight.
Andy let out a soft chuckle and leaned over giving Lynn a kiss on her cheek. She whispered something again and Lynn playfully hit her on the chest. Andy just laughed and they both turned their attention to Angel.
Angel looked up at the two of them and sighed with a smile.
"I never told anybody this, but when I first met Lynn I was a little jealous. My boyfriend was going on tour with a woman. But when she came out I was actually really glad." She started off and the crowd chuckled.
When it became silent she continued, "Lynn and I became really close in a really short time. I had a girlfriend for the first time in a long time. When I was able to go on tour with them, I could tell she need some girl time. We would go off on adventures and just have a good time. Even though we were interested in different things, we still had a lot in common. She quickly became my best friend. She was this breath of fresh air for me, that I didn't know I needed. I knew we would be friends for a long time.
When Lynn called me about Andrea and how she felt she had this connection, at first I thought she was a person working at the venue that night. Then she told me Andrea was a fan, my red flags went up. Especially when she told me she was going to visit her in her hometown before the tour in Europe. So of course I had to my research on this woman. I went through all her social media pages to see what kind of person she was. I was still skeptical until our first Christmas. That's when I saw the way the two of them looked at each other.
I'm sure they didn't know it then, but I could just see the love in their eyes. Of course the both of them were scared. It was a new relationship. I was worried at first, but then, I got to know Andrea. When she went away for a year I was angry with her for leaving Lynn alone. But then she came back for my wedding. I was so happy. I was so glad to have her back. I knew Lynn was too.
Anyway, looking at these two up there together is all I could ever ask for. They fought for their love the last couple of years and they stood the test of time. Even when things seemed to fall apart they stood strong. I love you both. I can't wait to spoil Mila, and the little ones on the way. To Lyndsey and Andrea." Angel finished as she raised her glass. The crowd repeated her last words and she smiled. Wendy came up to her and gave her a hug. She gave the microphone to Wendy and she smiled.
She looked up at the couple and started to speak, "We all know my big sister is a workaholic." Some of the crowd murmured in agreement.
"I'll never forget the times I would see her on the school bus with a pen and notebook just writing. Sometimes I had to remind her that we were at our stop. She started working at the age of fourteen. By sixteen she was taking eight classes and working nights. It was a lot for her but she pushed through it. Growing up we had our differences, but she was always there for me. Even when I didn't want her there, she was just there. She's my best friend and my big sister.
I remember the day she discovered PVRIS. It was at the Twenty One Pilots concert and they were the first act. I looked back at my sister and she yelled over the music, 'MY NEW CRUSH!'" The crowd laughed and Andy started to turn a shade of red.
Wendy smiled and continued to speak, "When she tore her ACL she was a wreck, but then she started to listen to PVRIS again. All of a sudden she started to slowly feel a bit better. She would have their album on repeat along with a lot of TRAPT's albums. Even before they met, they inspired my sister to find her passion in writing again. I could see the light come back into my sister's eyes and she was smiling again.
Then came the day she left. We were all worried to say the least. But she would check in with us. We all worry about Andrea because she always pushes herself past her limits. Then, Lynn steps in and reminds her to slow down a bit. I never thought I would see the day my sister would actually sit down and relax. All thanks to Lynn. Lynn, you came into my sister's life and taught her how to slow down and take in the moments.
I love you both and I can't wait to see what you both have in store for the future. To Lyndsey and Andrea." She finished raising her glass. The crowd applauded and it was David's turn to make his speech. He gave Wendy a hug and when they parted she gave him the microphone. He smiled looking up at Lynn and Andy shaking his head with a chuckle.
"I'll never forget the day I came home from school, only to find my guitar was out of tune for some odd reason. I didn't think anything of it at first. But the weeks went by and it was happening more often. So one day I decided not to stay after school knowing Lynn would be home. When I got home I heard someone playing some music. I slowly went up the stairs and I heard singing coming from Lynn's room.
Here's the thing, Lynn wasn't in chorus, and never really had any training for her voice. She's a natural singer. When I got closer to her room I stood by her door and just listened. I knew right there that she would do something amazing. After she was done I rushed back down the stairs as quietly as I could. I heard her open her door and I knew she was going to my room to put my guitar back. I called my parents and told them what I heard.
A few weeks later Lynn had her own guitar. She was creating something. It wasn't long until Brian and Alex came into her life and they started this journey together. After a while Justin joined and they became this family. I'm so proud of you. I've watched you grow into this amazing woman. I've seen you go through heartbreak and I've seen you fall in love.
Andrea, you brought this light back into my sister. You showed her that it's okay to not be okay. You have your hard times, but you push those aside to make sure everyone you care about and love is okay. You put everyone first before you. I remember having that conversation with my little sister. She told me that Andrea got called into work and she didn't want her to be by herself. So Andrea called Ethan to see where the guys were.
That alone told me that Andrea wanted to make sure Lynn would be okay. That's when I knew Andrea would take care of my family any way she could. I not only gained another sister. I gained a sister that I can call 'bro' and have great conversations with about things I couldn't with my own sister. But, Lyndsey, I love you and I'm so proud of you. Andrea, I love you and welcome to the family. To Andrea and Lyndsey."
Again the crowd applauded as Ethan stepped up. The two hugged and David gave Ethan the microphone. Ethan smiled and let out a sigh. He looked up at his best friend and her wife and he blinked back the tears. He cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Andrea, what can I say that hasn't already been said about you? There is one story that most of you know and Andrea likes to tell it a lot. I was training on the line at another store. After getting my footing I came back to our store and started to work our saute station. Well I ended up failing. Andrea had to kick me off of it. Then, her and Trey worked together to clear the screen. Sadly I started to fail on the other two stations.
Three weeks. It was three weeks of me failing. Andrea took me outside and started to yell at me. She said that if I was some big shot at another store why couldn't I hack it at the main store? We both talked and she told me to rethink what I wanted to do. That she didn't train me to fail. She trained me to succeed and that's all she wanted for me. She pushed me to my breaking point only because she wanted me to do well. She made me a better line cook, a better leader, a better friend, and a better brother.
I was lost for a long time and she came into my life and put me on a path that I was able to follow for the first time in a long time. She was there for me when no one else was. She stood by me when no one else believed in me. She's been my rock and my shoulder to cry on. Even when she was going through her recovery from her ACL, and her break ups. She put everything aside to make me feel better.
Then, in walks Lynn. She was this breath of fresh for her. I saw my best friend smile again, I saw my best friend learn to love again, I saw my best friend learn to enjoy her life again. I didn't think it was possible, but it was. Lynn you not only hold my best friend's heart, but you saved her. You saved her that night in Charlotte. Lynn, I love you and I can't wait to see what you have in store for my best friend. Andrea, I love you with all my heart. You're the best friend anyone could ask for. To Andrea and Lyndsey. I wish you all the happiness and joy in the world."
Andy wiped a couple of stray tears from her eyes. She and Lynn stood up and walked onto the dance floor. Andy waved for the other three to come up and when they did they all hugged each other. When it came to Andy and Ethan the two best friends were locked in a tight embrace and there wasn't a dry eye in the audience. The two best friends stayed locked in their embrace for a few more moments before pulling away from each other.
They both laughed seeing the tears running down each other's cheek. Ethan gave the microphone to Andy and she cleared her throat. She took a deep breath and smiled.
"Thank you. All of you for your kind words. It really means a lot to Lynn and I. Not only this day but every single day. Every single person in this room has touched our lives in some way. Family, friends, coworkers, just every one of you. We love you all and we are so glad you can share this special day with us." Andy said and the audience stood up cheering and applauding.
Cody came up to them and Andy handed him the microphone. He smiled as every one but Andy and Lynn went back to their seats.
"Okay, everyone it's time for the couple's first dance. A little birdie told me that ONLY Lynn knows their wedding song. She also called in a favor. Come on in guys!"
Andy turned around and saw the TRAPT band members making their way to the stage. She couldn't believe it. She looked at Lynn with a shocked expression and she smiled touching her cheek.
"This is my wedding and birthday gift to you. I had my people call their people. Told them how much of a fan you are and it would mean the world to you if they were here to perform our wedding song." Lynn told Andy gently.
"I love you so much. Thank you. I don't know what to say." Andy said with a small shake of her head.
Lynn smiled and wrapped her arms around Andy's neck, "Just let the music do the talking. Like you always tell me."
"That I can do. What song did you pick?" She asked putting her arms around Lynn's waist pulling her close.
"You're about to find out." Lynn said with a smile and pulled Andy in close.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mrs. and Mrs. Hill's first dance." Cody said and he rushed off the stage.
TRAPT started up and Andy's eyes went wide when she heard the first few notes of the song.
"No, you didn't. How did you know?"
Lynn laughed, "I remember you said that in a world of black in white I make it colorful or something along those lines. That stuck with me. It was Wendy that mentioned that she heard it somewhere before and we looked it up. Lo and behold it was in a TRAPT song. She said it's one of your favorites."
Andy nodded, "I always thought I would do a cheesy love song for my wedding, but this, this is perfect."
"I've been searching all my life
I used to be so color blind
You opened up my eyes
Do you wanna share your dreams
See a different side of me
You're everything I need
They started to slowly sway to the music and Andy couldn't hold herself back from singing along to the lyrics. Lynn rest her head on Andy's chest and just listened to the song.
I like it when you think out loud
Things you say when you know
There is no one else around
I can dig my own graves now
But will you smile every time
I try to crawl my way out
Lynn raised her head and looked at Andy. She couldn't believe she was here with her. In this moment. She never thought she would be here. She rested her forehead against hers. All she heard from this moment on was Andy singing to her.
There is no one like you
I live in a world of black and white
And you are the only one in color
There is no one like you
Into mystery I slide
I want you to keep it all uncovered
You are the only one in color
Andy looked at Lynn and smiled. She never thought she would find love again after a string of bad relationships. She wasn't sure about Lynn at first, but there was something that just kept bringing her back to her. She didn't know what it was. She may never know. But all she knew was that she was completely head over heels in love with the woman in her arms.
You know how to set that mood
You can light up any room
Just by the way you move
The only one who understands
What I've given you you've given back
Come on and take my hand
As the crowd watched Michael and Hayley sat close to each other. He kissed her forehead and she leaned into him even more.
"Are you okay?" He asked her and she looked at him and nodded.
"I'm more than okay. Why do you ask?"
He just shrugged, "I don't know, I guess you're still kind of fresh coming out of your divorce only a couple of months ago. I wasn't sure how this wedding was going to make you feel."
Hayley smiled and touched his cheek gently, "I was worried at first, but then I heard you were in the wedding party. I just knew you were going to look absolutely sexy in this suite. With that aside. Lynn and Andy are good friends of mine and I wouldn't miss this for the world. Also this isn't bad for a first date."
Michael nearly choked on his drink. He coughed hard and then cleared his throat, "I'm sorry date? This is our first date?"
Hayley nodded, "Yeah, isn't it?" She asked confused.
Michael nodded, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. Our first date is our friends' wedding." He smiled and they leaned in and gave each other a kiss.
I like it when you think out loud
Things you say when you know
There is no one else around
I can dig my own graves now
But will you smile every time
I try to crawl my way out
"I still can't believe you pulled this off." Andy said smiling.
Lynn shrugged, "You gave me so much, and I just wanted to give something back to you."
"Baby, you've given me more than enough. Your love, your trust, just everything. You've given me a whole new outlook on life and soon three beautiful children. Mila, and two that will join her. You're still on this rollercoaster ride with me, when I thought you were going to get off six months ago." She reached up and tucked a loose strand behind Lynn's ear.
"By the way, I love your hair." She added and Lynn chuckled.
There is no one like you
I live in a world of black and white
And you are the only one in color
There is no one like you
Into mystery I slide
I want you to keep it all uncovered
You are the only one in color
Kevin, Susan, Cathy, and Tim were sitting at their table watching their daughters dance to the music.
"Are you still coming for Thanksgiving?" Susan asked.
"Of course! We wouldn't miss it for the world. You're still coming for Christmas and New Years right?" Cathy asked.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world. You know, at some point we should spend Christmas in Florida. See Kevin's dad." Susan suggested.
"I'm sure he would love that. Seeing his family together. Maybe we can talk to the kids about it." Kevin said.
"It would be nice to spend Christmas somewhere warm for once." Tim said with a chuckle.
"It's settled then, next Christmas we'll go to Florida. I love these get togethers. Maybe we should do it more than twice a year." Susan said. All of a sudden she and Cathy began to discuss plans. Kevin and Tim looked at each other and just chuckled. The two fathers turned their attention back to their daughters. Both smiling as they danced to the music.
Then the next part of the song Andy looked at Lynn and started to sing softly to her.
You turned an old world upside down
A wave of calm when I was so tightly wound
And so full of doubt
I'll never tell you that two's a crowd
I know I can't get through without
Ever needing you around
Lynn couldn't help herself. She pulled Andy in and gave her a deep kiss. The crowd roared with cheers. The two didn't break apart. They were just so lost in each other. Just like they always were.
There is no one like you
I live in a world of black and white
And you are the only one in color
There is no one like you
Into mystery I slide
I want you to keep it all uncovered
They finally pulled away from each other and held each other close. Andy knew there was one more chorus left. This was a perfect song for them. Mostly for Lynn in Andy's mind. She always wanted to give this song to someone. But she never knew who, until Lynn.
"I never thought I could love someone again and then all of sudden you come into my life. There's seriously no one like you. You make my heart skip a beat every time you walk into a room. You know just the right words to say when I can't find them. You're going to be an amazing mom. I can't see my life without you." Lynn said as she smiled letting her tears fall.
Andy gently wiped away her tears and looked at her loving wife, " You pulled me out of my darkness. You continue to lead me out of it. My life has been brighter since you. Just when I thought love was a false hope, you came along. I didn't think I could fall so deeply in love with you that being without you was the hardest thing I ever had to do. The past year was really hard without you by my side. But with each passing day it was a day closer to you. This is going to be an amazing adventure. I love you with all my heart and soul."
They once again rested their foreheads against each other's. Andy sang the final chorus to Lynn softly.
There is no one like you
I live in a world of black and white
And you are the only one in color
There is no one like you
Into mystery I slide
I want you to keep it all uncovered
You are the only one in color"
(Song and Lyrics by Trapt)
The song ended just as Lynn and Andy kissed each other one more time. When they pulled away they turned towards the stage and started to applaud the band along with the crowd.
Chris the lead singer thanked them and said he had an announcement to make. The crowd died down and he started to speak, "First, just want to say congratulations to the happy couple." He said and started to clap along with his band mates and everyone else.
"Second, Andrea, when Lynn told us that we're your favorite band, at first we were skeptical. Then, we heard you waited thirteen years to see us in concert. Now, that's a long to wait so thank you. With that being said we have two gifts for you. The first one is we found a copy of our set list from that night you saw in concert and we all signed it for you. It's framed and everything. Bring it on out!"
Michael and Brendan came out from the back with the framed set list and brought it over to Lynn and Andy. Andy was so happy she almost jumped up and down but she kept it together. She wanted to say thank you but Chris held up his hand and smiled.
"The second present is we want you to see us again, whenever you want. So we talked to some of our people and they are letting us give you two backstage passes to any show you want to see us at. Doesn't matter where we are, you will always be welcome. Same with your kids, we don't want you to wait that long again. So here are your honorary backstage passes that will get you into any show for as long as you want." Chris got off the stage and walked up to them. He pulled out at least six backstage passes from his back pocket and gave it to them.
Andy was still in shock. Chris smiled and gave them both a hug. She didn't know what to say and Lynn just laughed.
"I think she's trying to say thank you." Lynn told him.
He chuckled, "You're welcome. Oh, and one more thing. We would like you to be our tour photographer sometime. We'll call you and of course Lynn and Mila can come anytime." He patted Andy on her shoulder and she was lost for words yet again.
"I think she's a little star struck right now. Oh babe, I forgot to mention, they're gonna let you sing your favorite song with them later, just so you know." Lynn kissed Andy on her cheek and Andy looked like she was about to pass out.
Luckily Cody and Trey were there to hold her steady. Chris laughed and Lynn told him to enjoy the rest of the party. Just let them know when they were ready for her. He smiled and kissed her cheek. He gave Andy a gentle squeeze on her arm and walked away. He and his band mates started to mingle within the crowd.
"What the fuck just happened?!" Andy almost yelled. Lynn laughed and shook her head. She walked off the dance floor towards the main table to put down the set list and backstage passes.
She watched as Serenity walked up to Andy and smiled. She saw Andy introduce Trey to Serenity and she couldn't help but shake her head. Andy always had a spot for romance. The two talked for a moment then Clint came up to Andy and whispered something in her ear. Andy just nodded and the two rushed off the dance floor.
DJ Redman started to play some upbeat music again and the dance floor became crowded again. Lynn found Wendy and Brittany on the dance floor and joined them. She looked around and didn't see any of the guys or Andy. She shrugged it off thinking they all went to the bar to have a drink or something. She hoped Andy kept her promise. She didn't smell any alcohol on her breath when they were dancing together earlier.
She felt someone tap on her shoulder and she turned around to see Hayley standing there with a smile. She gave her a tight hug and smiled.
"I'm so sorry I haven't been around! Things have just been crazy!" Lynn said over the music. Hayley took Lynn's hand and led her off the dance floor where they didn't have to yell over the music.
"There we go so much better." Hayley said with a smile.
"Okay, I saw you and Michael getting a little cozy earlier. How are things going with you two? Like are you two together yet?" Lynn asked taking both of Hayley's hands in hers.
"He's like the sweetest guy I EVER met! You know he considered my feelings about today."
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry. I'm a horrible friend for forgetting about your divorce. Hales I'm so sorry!" Lynn had a concerned look on her face and sat down.
Hayley took a seat across from her and smiled, "It's okay. He's been a gentleman since we met. But I feel like something's holding him back. I don't know what it is. I want to jump his bones, but he keeps turning me down for some reason."
Lynn chuckled and shook her head, "Sounds like Andy when we first met."
"Really? How did you two overcome this?"
"We talked about it. She told me that she wanted to be with me for who I am. Not because she's a fan getting the ultimate trophy. She just wanted to get to know me before we became intimate. She asked me to be her girlfriend just when the clock hit midnight. Our first time together wasn't until March. But we were talking, well she was courting me since October. So it took her awhile. I'm not gonna lie I wanted to jump her bones plenty of times. But she was really respectful. She wanted to make sure I was comfortable with everything.
She told me about how she had a little kinky side and I'm not gonna lie it spices up the bedroom. But again, she told me about it first before we had our first time together. So what I'm trying to get at is this." Lynn moved a little closer to Hayley.
"Just let him take the lead. When he's ready, I'm sure you'll be ready. Just take it slow. You don't want this to become a rebound relationship that you'll regret later. He also maybe nervous. I mean you are Hayley Williams after all." Lynn finished with a chuckle.
"I love you so much! Thank you for the advice. You're right. You're so right! This all new and exciting. Plus he's a fan, and I just have to look past that. Just how you did with Andy. Okay here's my other question. You said she wanted to get to know you for you. But how did you look past the fact that she was a fan?" Hayley asked.
Lynn shrugged, "Honestly, I'm not sure the exact moment. But one moment that sticks out in my mind was when me and the guys were in Europe. Andy and I weren't official yet and we kept in contact. Then, her step cousin passed away. I didn't hear from her for a while and I got worried. But I was seeing her being tagged in all these pictures on social media. She was with her family and surrounded by everyone she loved.
There was this picture of her, Brittany, and Trevor by a lake. I felt this pang of jealousy only because I didn't know who Brittany was at the time. Everyone was sending their condolences and everything. I read one of Brittany's comments saying that Andy being there made everything okay. She was the glue holding her together. Then, all of a sudden a lot of her friends were coming forward about how Andy was always there." Lynn took a breath and she let it out. She smiled looking at Hayley.
"That's when I started to really look at her. I saw this beautiful person that would put people before her. Even though she goes through her personal demons, she still has her family and friends feelings in her mind. Sometimes when she's working on her laptop I just like to sit and watch her. Or when she's reading or writing. I just love looking at her and thinking how much I love her as a person. Not as a fan, or someone who thinks of me as a front woman for a bad. I just see her." Lynn finished and Hayley was looking at her in awe.
"Wow. Just wow. I hope to have that with Michael." Hayley said with a sigh.
"You will. Just give it time. I'm sure getting to know him these past few weeks certainly changed your mind about a lot of things." Lynn smiled.
Hayley nodded, "Oh he definitely has. I just don't want to get my hopes up too much at this point. I mean when we go back into the studio, and go on tour, what's gonna happen? I mean you had Andy with you as your photographer. But what if I wanna take Michael? What should I do?"
"Well Andy says he plays a mean guitar. Maybe he could be your touring rhythm guitar guy. Or he could be a soundcheck guy. You'll find something for him. We found something for Ethan. I'm sure you'll find something for Michael." Lynn said with a smile.
"Hey where are the guys anyway?"
Meanwhile in one of the private bathrooms the guys and Andy were changing up their outfits a little bit. Andy and Michael were having almost the exact conversation as Lynn and Hayley.
"So I guess what I'm trying to say how did you look past the part of Lynn being the lead singer of PVIRS?" Michael asked putting on the white suit jacket.
Andy shrugged, "Honestly, I just kind of stopped listening to their music. Stopped watching the interviews, stopped reading any articles about them. It kinda helped a little bit. Just kind of had conversations about other things other than her being famous. You know, her childhood, what it was like growing up. I avoided anything that had to do with her career. She did the same with me."
Michael nodded, "Make sense. I think it was Kayla that mentioned you courting Lynn. How did you do that?"
Ethan came up to Michael and patted him on the back, "Very shyly and very interestingly." He chuckled and adjusted his tie.
Andy turned fully to look at her friend and she put a hand on his shoulder, "I started small. Leaving her notes here and there. Sending her text messages about how I'm thinking about her. On tour we would go our separate ways, but I would find a cool rock or a seashell. Leave it on her pillow for her to see. Wanted to let her know she was in my thoughts. Just little things. You don't have to go all out to impress Hayley. She's already smitten with you. I see it."
He nodded and gave her a smile, "I'm sure gonna miss you when you leave. Again. I have a couple more questions."
Andy laughed and she leaned against the sink crossing her arms, "I'm all ears."
"How did you put up with all the media, tabloids, and the fame?"
Andy shrugged, "At first it was hard because she's in the public eye. A lot of articles and new stories were trying to give me a bad name. Saying that I was a fan just getting the ultimate collectable. But I never let it get to me. I mean, I had to change all my social media profiles to private for a while. I was getting a lot of threats, but at the end of the day she was falling for me. For who I am flaws and all. I'm not gonna lie it was hard. But she cut through the red tape and look at us now.
So for now, just set everything to private and let it ride out. Ignore anything you see on the news and just be with Hayley. Sure they're gonna dig stuff up, but at the end of the day, it's your truth that matters." Andy explained to him.
"Got it. Next question, she's the one that said this is our first date. I didn't even know this would be our first date. I had our first date all planned out. So what do I do at this point?"
"Got with it. If she says this is your first date, so be it. Use your first date plan as your second date. When it comes to date night switch it up. Surprise her, she surprises you. Stay in or go out. Keep things exciting. Keep that spark going. There's never going to be a dull moment. Trust me I know. But that's the beauty of it. Every day there's something new to learn, discover, explore, and just be with each other. Just don't forget to take some time for yourself. You have your pizza dough tossing thing. She has her music. Don't get too lost in each other. Don't forget to take time for yourselves." Andy smiled looking at Michael.
He nodded, "Okay, okay, wait one more thing before we go out there. After looking past all that stuff, how did you know Lynn was the one? I mean you two got married after ten months of dating. But if you put in the fact you two started talking in October, factor that in, so a year. I guess what I'm trying to understand is how did you know?"
Andy stood up and fully turned to face him. She gently ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. She took a moment to recollect her thoughts and looked at her friend. She put her hands on his arms and smiled.
"If I'm being completely honest I knew she was the one when she slapped me. It was a wake up call. Don't ask me why that was the moment. I don't know why or how. But that was the moment. Just see if you get a wake up call and then you'll know." She pulled him in for a hug and he held onto her tight.
"I really going to miss you now." He whispered. Andy chuckled as they pulled away from each other.
"I'll be back for Thanksgiving. We can all get together then. I think it's going to be an annual thing. Plus I'm sure you want to teach Mila how to toss some dough." She said with a smile and he nodded.
"I still can't believe it. Look at you and how far you come. Sometimes when I look at you I still see the shy timid Andy seven years ago. You're married, about to start a family, a new life, I'm so proud of you." He told her with a gentle smile.
Andy nodded and she sniffled, "Coming from you that means a lot. You taught me so much and I'm such a better person because of you. You saw something in me that I couldn't see myself. Thank you."
"Okay, okay, it's getting a little to chick flicky in here." Clint said walking up them. Andy flinched playfully and Clint used his hands to cover below his waist area.
"You know that doesn't get old." Brandon said coming up to them and patting Clint on the back.
"Has anyone ever gotten you?!" Alex asked and Andy shook her head.
"Nope, I think they were too scared I would do something. I mean they've all rat tailed me, or smacked my ass, but that's about it."
"We were never really careful with the way we talked to Andy. Girls, drinking, sex, we sometimes forget she's a woman. Plus she's a lot stronger than most of us." Clint said patting Andy on the back.
"Man, I wish I met you back then, wonder how much trouble we could have gotten ourselves in." Brian said and they all laughed.
The bathroom door opened and they all turned to see Becca with a bright smile, "They're almost ready for us. DJ Redman is cuing up the music, and Cody is about to introduce us." She came up to them and they all looked at Andy.
"Thank you all for working hard in a short amount of time to put this together. I love each and every one of you. Thank you for standing up with me and Lynn today. I love you guys." She had an arm around Ethan and her other arm around Justin.
"We love you too. Now before we all start to cry, let's get out there and show them what we can do!" Michael said pumping his fist in the air. Becca gave them their canes and top hats. They lined up with Becca leading. Andy would go last.
They could hear Cody talking the crowd and Becca started to lead them out. Andy took a beat by the door and waited a few more seconds. She saw the lights go out and she smiled.
"Showtime."
