Life Goes On(Pt17)
Joe lay in bed a few days later, staring at Sav’s profile, while lazily tracing the tips of his fingers over his chest. Sav’s eyes were closed and his hand resting on Joe’s hip, thumb absently stroking the soft skin there. Joe flattened his hand on his stomach.
“Why did you let Nick do that to you the other day?”
Sav opened his mouth to say something then closed it. He couldn't tell Joe the real reasons why Nick attacked him. Pulling in another breath, he tried again. “I didn’t know he was going to do that, not until he started hitting me.”
“Why didn’t you just get away from him?”
“He had me pinned to the bed. I couldn’t move.”
“If he was hitting you, how could you have been pinned to the bed?”
“He was sitting on me.”
“I was laying on you and you managed to throw me off.”
Sav opened his eyes and looked at Joe.
“You let him do it didn’t you? You didn’t want to stop him. I can see it in your eyes.”
“Is it so bad to want a physical relationship like that?”
“That’s not physical Sav, he’s abusing you and you shouldn’t have to put up with it, it’s wrong.”
Sav reached over and caressed Joe’s cheek. “Maybe I like that kind of physical play between Nick and I.”
“That’s insane.” Joe shot back. “It didn’t take you long to leave me the first time I did it to you. What makes Nick’s treatment different.”
“I expect it from him, not you.”
Joe turned to lye on his back, staring up at the ceiling. Sav propped himself on his elbow to look down at him.
“I still don’t understand why you let him do it.”
“It doesn’t matter Joe, don’t let…”
”It does matter…to me. I hated it back then and I hate it now. Do you have any idea how much it hurts me to see you all bloody and beaten?”
Sav hooked his finger under Joe’s chin and turned his head. “Do you have any idea how much it would hurt me if I don't let Nick do that? He would come after you instead. I put up with his shit because of you and everyone else in this family.”
”I can take care of Nick myself. I'm not a weak human anymore.”
"I know you can, but I don't want you to. And I don't want to talk about this anymore." Sav slid his body to lie on top of him, dropping his head down to tease Joe’s lips with his stopping anymore protest when Joe tried. His tongue darted out seeking entrance to his mouth as Joe buried his hand in Sav’s hair to pull him deeper into his mouth.
“mmm…as much as I want to stay in this bed with you all night.” Sav started as he pulled away. “…we can’t. We have a date with the family on the beach under the full moon.”
“Let them wait.” Joe said and pulled him back in for another kiss.
Sav raised his body and pulled away again. “That would be rude and they would miss us. Now come on, we have to get dressed. There is always later.”
Joe dropped his hands to the bed and blew out a frustrated breath. “Ok.”
Sav took out cut off jeans from his drawer and pulled them on. “Joe…I’ve rather enjoyed sleeping with you and Evelyn these past few nights. Why don’t you ask her to move into my room?”
“And who would I sleep with?”
“Right there.” Sav said pointing to the bed.
“Uh hun…I know what you’re thinking. It’s too soon for her to be with both of us. I don’t think she would move in here anyway.”
“Ask her.”
“I might.” Joe said, grabbing his jeans to pull them on. “I’ll meet you downstairs.” He went to his room to get his swim trunks on.
“Ok, I’ll be there in a minute. I have to get something first.” Sav called after him. He dug through his draw and retrieved what he was looking for and stuck it in the pocket of his shorts. Smiling to himself he went downstairs to join the others.
Following the voices, Sav entered the kitchen to see Amber and Gail putting the last touches on the finger foods tray. Pouring two glasses of blood wine he went to stand by Gail.
“mmm…looks good.”
“Sav, you can’t eat this food.” Gail told him.
“I wasn’t talking about the food.” He said and grabbed her hand, sticking her finger in his mouth to lick of the juices from the turkey slices. “That’s what I was talking about.”
“You’re such a flirt.” Gail smacked him on the arm.
Sav quickly kissed her cheek. “But you love me anyway.” He then went over to Amber, circling his arms around her waist. Leaning his head over her shoulder. Amber automatically stuck her fingers up for him. Sav took his time licking the juices from her fingers. Sensually twirling his tongue around the tip before he sucked on it as he pulled it out.
Amber’s heart jumped in her chest, her head turned slightly to see him out of the corner of her eye. Sav nuzzled her ear, then whispered something to her. Sav kissed her below the ear and moved away.
Amber’s body flushed with heat at what he said. Watching him leave the kitchen to go outside with the guys.
“Amber...” Gail nudged her.
“Uh…sorry…I was distracted.”
”What did he say to you?”
”Oh…noth…nothing…..you know how he likes to flirt.”
“Uh hun.”
“Evening ladies.” Joe greeted them as he came in. “Amber are you feeling alright.” he noticed the flush of red on her
cheeks. “Your face is a little red?”
“Hi Daddy…no I’m fine.” She smiled. “Uncle Sav poured you a drink.”
Joe picked up the glass and sat at the table.
“Hey Joe.” Rick said as he came in.
“How’s it going, ready to get a game going on the beach?”
”I don’t know, have to ask everyone else.”
Evelyn came into the room just as Joe took another sip of his drink. He promptly spewed over the table when he saw her in the skimpy black bikini that he bought her.
“Yuck Joe….look at the mess you made.” Rick said looking at the splattered blood all over the table. He glanced at Evelyn and whistled. “Good thing I didn’t have a mouth full. That looks great on you Evelyn.”
“Thanks Rick. Joe picked it out for me.” she winked at Joe.
Joe aimlessly tried to catch the paper towels that Gail tossed him and missed. He took his eyes off of Evelyn long enough to pick them up, then started cleaning up the mess he made.
“Are you going to stand there gawking all night or join me on the beach Joe?”
“Um…yeah…gimme a sec.” He raced around to finish cleaning. Evelyn stifling her giggles at how fast he was moving. “Ok, I’m ready.” Joe beamed down at her. Taking her hand they went out.
“I don’t think those two will be out there too long tonight.” Rick said.
Amber and Gail picked up the trays and followed Rick outside. Alex ran pass them yelling for his grandpa.
“Grandpa.” Stopping in front of Joe he grabbed his hand and began to tug on it. “Come on lets go swimming.”
“In a minute Alex. Let me talk to Evelyn first.”
“Nooo….come ooon…” he tugged harder.
“Go swim with him. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Alright…alright Alex calm down.” Joe planted a kiss on her lips and let his grandson pull him away.
“I’ll race you to the water.” Joe told him. “You get a head start.”
“Ok.” Alex beamed and took off. “No flying grandpa, that’s cheating.” He called over his shoulder.
“You heard the little guy Joe…no flying.” Phil chuckled.
“I wasn’t going to.” Joe said innocently.
“Sure...just like last time. Wait for him to get at the waters edge and then take off…flying.” Rick reminded him.
“He’s going to beat you.” Vivian said pointing out at Alex.
Joe took off down to the beach.
“Not too far out Daddy. The moon is not that bright.” Amber yelled after him. “Alex is going to be ready for bed in about an hour.” She said taking a seat next to Evelyn.
“Joe will tire him out so that leaves us adults.” Phil said.
Vivian was looking around. “Adults, I don’t see any adults.”
“Us grown kids can play grown-up games.” Rick piped in.
“Maybe some live music. That would be nice.” Amber suggested.
“Sure….give us some practice for the Ball next week.”
”Speaking of the Ball. Whose idea was it to dress in that fashion?” Amanda asked.
“Mine.” Amber started. “I thought it would make it more fun than any of the previous stuffy one’s. Nick gave me unlimited funds to make it the social event of the community. Oh and the few ‘mortal’ guests.”
“Did you get in touch with that caterer I told you about?” Kelsey asked her.
“Yes...said he would do it. He has a large staff to make sure everything is prepared per Renaissance era and dress for the occasion.”
“Should be a wonderful Ball. I’m looking forward to it this year.” Gail said.
The conversation went off into several different directions within small groups. Amber craned her head to see Alex out in the water with her father. After a while Rick and Phil went down to wade in the surf. Gail and Kelsey were talking with Amanda about a baby shower they wanted to plan for her.
Thomas came over and flopped down in the chair beside Evelyn and Amber. “So…Evelyn have you slept with Sav yet or both of them at once?”
Amber leaned up and glared at him. “Thomas Richard, what a personal thing to ask.”
“Well….there are no secrets in the family and if she has, wouldn’t that be a secret?”
“No. Something she doesn’t want to share with everyone.” Amber leaned in closer to her. “Have you?”
Thomas grinned broadly, "We know they share their girlfriends, wives, we just want to know if you have yet.
Evelyn stared at her in shock, then glanced around and found everyone looking at her. “Um…well, no I haven’t. And don’t plan on it.” She stood up and made her way down to the beach to watch Joe and Alex.
“I think your question made her uncomfortable Thomas.” Rick said.
Once again the conversation picked up to other stuff. Alex came up a little while later very tired from his play in the water with Joe. Amber excused herself and took him up for a bath and put him to bed.
Everyone scattered out on the beach in small groups talking or dancing to the slow music coming from the outside speakers. A large fire that Phil and Vivian built in the fire pit blazed off to the side. The flames flickered over the sand and water. The bright outside lights were turned off, leaving only the fire to cast dancing shadows around the area.
