A/N: Okay, so this chapter took a bit of time (compared to others), just because I've been sorta in and out of creative juices. But I finally finished it, and it's a pretty decent sized one. So without the normal author drivel ado, the chapter! *hugs*

Rebecca walked back into the kitchen, still trying to calm herself down so she wouldn’t upset any of the other girls. Although she doubted that she could slip past Ivy or Cat. They had known her too long. Ivy had been her best friend since middle school, and Cat had been a good friend ever since their meeting at a music festival a year or two ago. And even though she had just met Chris, she had the feeling that all the girls would know that something was really wrong with her.
As she reached the kitchen, Rebecca wondered if it might be a better idea to just take a little while longer to work at getting herself calmed down before going back to meet back with the other girls, her plot for a prank on the guys now forgotten in the latest chaos. But regardless, she walked into the kitchen, a smile on her face, turning to a genuine smile at the sight of ice cream scooped out into bowls for each of them.
“We scooped you a bowl. Now that the boys have been alerted to our plottings, what are we going to do about our little prank?”
“The boys don’t know. Patrick left. I think he forgot something at his place or such.”
Rebecca smiled, taking the bowl of ice cream from Chris and leaning against the island in the middle of the kitchen. She slowly took a spoonful of the ice cream and let it melt down to the liquidy goop that she loved so much in her mouth.
“So, what happened with you and Stumpy? You’re obviously upset, because you never eat your ice cream like that. And I’ve known you since seventh grade, so don’t try to lie your way out of it or such. So you may as well spill it.”
Rebecca laughed softly at Ivy’s inability to hold silences for too long. It was something that she had often laughed over with her. And yet at the moment, she really didn’t want to discuss what had went on between Patrick and her. She shook her head, taking another bite of the ice cream, smiling at the familiar minty taste that she loved.
“It was nothing. The tiniest of misunderstandings, and the Patrick remembered that he had forgotten something back at his house, so he went to get it right quick. It’s nothing.”
“You were out for an awful long time for nothing.”
“Cell rang. Beth was calling about her date. She’s going to drop by if she can get her mom to let her out again tonight. ......... I’m fine!”
Rebecca replied perhaps a little too sharply to the concerned stares of the other girls, as she was getting a little upset by the mothering. It was great that they all cared enough about her to worry and question if she was okay, but she hated that they wouldn’t drop it when she had said everything was okay.
“I’m sorry guys. I’m probably just a lot more tired than normal.”
“So there was something. Becs, we wouldn’t be asking if we weren’t concerned. You look almost as rough as the time after you and that jerk split up. What was his name again?”
“Aiden.”
“Yeah, him. Becs, guys are jerks. Stumpy will come around to his senses, and he’ll be back to fawning over you like always. He’s had it bad for you for years, you know. Those sort of things don’t just disappear after one little rough spot. Trust me.”
Rebecca laughed as Ivy hinted towards the many times that she had found Ivy curled up in tears over the sight of Pete with some new girl every other week. And yet Ivy had still fawned over her brother for years. The mention of Aiden still stung though, but she was shocked at how it was lighter than it normally was when someone mentioned him. Perhaps she was finally beginning to get over him. After all, it had been a few years since he had died, so perhaps it was finally time to let go.
“Becca, can I steal you away for a minute?”
Rebecca jumped at the sound of a voice coming from the doorway to the kitchen, frowning slightly when she saw that it was her brother. She nodded and put the bowl of ice cream down on the counter behind her and walked into the living room behind Pete.
“I just got a call from Patrick. Is everything okay? He sounded like there was something wrong. And he kept asking me to apologize to you.”
Rebecca knew that she could probably hide how upset she was from almost everyone, having mastered a few tricks in the various acting classes that she had taken in school. But Pete was one person she would never be able to hide anything from. She sank down on the couch, her head in her hands.
“I don’t know, Petey. I think I may have royally fucked this one up. It was just a kiss, and I knew that it was Patrick, but I hit the wall, and it was just like I was back with Aiden. I freaked and shoved him away. Thus he rushed off, upset. I mean, I knew that it was Patrick and that he would die before hurting me. But my mind just shut down, you know? How bad did he sound, Petey? I mean, I tried calling him, but he didn’t answer.”
She looked up into her older brother’s eyes and leaned against him as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. There were times when she was so annoyed with him that she couldn’t see straight, but he was still her big brother, and nothing could change that. And she knew that he looked out for her as best as he could, and she loved him for that most days.
“Shh. It’s okay, Beckanne. I’m sure that once everything settles and you explain what happened Patrick will understand. Maybe you should tell him all of it. Not just the nightmares. The whole messy story of it. He’s not one to jump and run at the slightest glitch. Either way things go, I’m here. But now I have a meeting to get back to. ...... Have you seen William? From The Academy Is. He’s late.”
Rebecca smiled at the familiar nickname that he had used for her as kids. Although when Pete suggested telling Patrick the whole story behind the nightmares, she paled. She had only told one other person the whole of the story, and that had been while sobbing uncontrollably in her oldest brother’s arms the night of the worst of the problems.
“I don’t know Petey. I mean, I haven’t even told Mom or Dad. It’s a rough spot in my life that I would rather not repeat. I mean, it was hard enough the first time I went through all of it. But to repeat it might only make the nightmares worse. I’ve gotten down to where they’re only maybe once a week. I don’t want to wake up every night screaming again. And you’re already not sleeping nearly enough, Peterpanda.”
Rebecca felt like a little kid again, clinging to her big brother at the thought of the nightmares. He had been the only one to be able to stop her nightmares from coming by sitting with her and either laying beside her, or with her hand tightly grasped in his. She knew that he had not slept for most of the first few weeks after the incident, as he had sat with her, watching her sleep all night, most nights with tears of his own at what had happened to her.
“Beckanne, it will be okay. And if the nightmares start again, I’m here. Maybe telling someone else will help with the nightmares. Sorta think of it as letting someone else into your trust circles.”
Rebecca nodded, knowing that he was probably right. After all, he hadn’t had the best of lives himself, despite what people in the public eye might think of him. She leaned up and gave him a light kiss on the cheek and nodded.
“Oh, I do know where William is. He had a date. With my lab partner from school, in fact. She called me not long ago to tell me about it. So he should be getting here soon. If he remembered about the meeting, of course. He could have completely forgotten after the date.”
She grinned at the comment, seeing the relief spread across her brother’s face that she was back to joking with him. He hated to see any sort of sadness on her face, especially if it involved the past and all the junk that she had been through. He leaned over and laid a kiss on the top of her head before standing and heading back to the basement, stopping at the door.
“You should probably try calling him again. At least to say something about chatting with him after you get rid of the other girls.”
Rebecca nodded, sighing as she stood. She pulled out her cell and quickly called Patrick again, a small frown as it went to the voicemail. Taking a deep breath, she decided that this was one time to break her no voicemail rule.
“Hey, Patrick, it’s Rebecca. I just wanted to say sorry. And that I’ll try to talk to you later after the other girls leave. It’s a long story, so I hope you’ll have time. ............. Anyways, I’ll call you back later then.”
Rebecca closed her cell and headed back to the kitchen, smiling at the other girls and taking another bowl of ice cream.
“So, are we still up for some plotting?”

A/N: Okay, so I just had to put a little Pete sweetness in. I know some people might disagree about the portrayal of him, but this is my story, so I'll make him how I want :-P.
To my readers who hurt over the last chapter and LilyRose, don't worry, our much beloved Patrick shall get his time with the explaining of the story too. It was heartwrenching to write too, but I felt the story might be getting a little too far to the fluff side. Also more Aiden plot coming as well!
Also, to my reviewbies, the added charys are coming, I'm just working out how to get them sorted in (this means more bands and other members will be coming!) so keep a look out for those. Hope you enjoyed! *hugs and love to all*
